Topic: International Day of Yoga

“Yoga is the golden key that unlocks the door to peace, tranquility and joy.” 

With this quote as the central idea, the students of class 7-H showcased the various benefits of Yoga through their class presentation on 25 June 2021. It was prepared to mark the occasion of the ‘International Day of Yoga’, which is celebrated on 21 June, worldwide. The compere, Shivam Chaudhary, greeted the audience with an introduction to the topic. It  was followed by Shloka recitation by Yashvi Gairola and Rudrankshi Patra and thought recitation by Diksha Sharma and Aaradhya Gupta. Some important facts and information on the Yoga Day were presented by Amvika Bangar, followed by a soulful rendition of a self composed poem ‘Yog Bhagaye Rog’ by Shriya Sawhney. Anushree Chakraborty gave a meaningful introduction to another creative piece of poetry by Ose Gupta and called her on to present the same. Devansh Singh Dham and Pranam Chandok presented their views to further emphasize the importance of Yoga. The  presentation concluded with  the vote of thanks delivered by Jai Goel. The attractive slides and e-invite were prepared by Vidhan Garg and Shivam Chaudhary and the beautiful posters included the works of Ose Gupta, Tanya Garg, Aaradhya Gupta, Aanya Garodia, Amvika Bangar and Aadya Singh.

Topic-  WHERE WORDS FAIL, MUSIC SPEAKS

Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy, it is an electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents. On the felicitous occasion of “World Music Day”, class 10-I  apprised everyone about the importance of music in our daily lives.

The presentation commenced with Shyla Vijay and Ananya Srivastava enlightening everyone about the power of music. This was followed by an auspicious and soothing prayer sung by Tavishi Mukherjee. Then, the potency of music was illuminated by a Sanskrit shloka narrated by Shreyadita Bhaumik and a quotation by Ruhaan Sharma. While the audience was mesmerised by Riddhi Sharma and Mana Sharma’s instrumental performance, Rijak Singh’s speech did not fail to leave a deep impact on everyone. After an iconic song from the movie, “The Sound of Music” was sung by Srivatsala Krishna, the presentation was concluded by quoting Khalil Gibran and a vote of thanks. The slides were prepared by Palak Goel and the write up was prepared by Shyla Vijay.

Topic: Where The Mind is Without Fear

The class XII -L presentation was a tribute to the spirit of Shri Rabindranath Tagore , a Nobel-prize winning polymath- excelling as a writer, poet, and a philosopher. He is a critical constituent of Indian History, as he put Bengali literature on the global map, and also wrote the National Anthem- Jana Gana Mana. He spent a large amount of his life in Santiniketan, dedicated to meaningful education, and also acted as a center for learning about the arts, language, music, etc. Today, Santiniketan is  home to many galleries and museums involved in the study and preservation of Tagore’s work. Revering the ideals he upheld. The presentation began with a shloka recited by Varanya Matreja, followed by  a prayer sung by Shambhavi Mittal. Preksha Jain began the presentation by the thought for the day.Sahana Savarkar mesmerised the audience by the song “Ekla Chalo Re”.  Aakansha Dutta recited the poem “Where the mind is without Fear” Tanisha Kumar and Sanaa Sharda  spoke about the accomplishments of Shri Rabindranath Tagore. The presentation ended with the vote of thanks proposed  by Vidur Sahni.The entire programme was knit together by the compere Vinayak Pachnanda.The attractive e- invite was made by Neasha Mittal.The Power Point Presentation was put together by Malank Goel.The whole presentation would have not been possible without the technical expertise of Yash Jha

Topic-  संत कबीर

कक्षा 9A की प्रातः कालीन सभा 24 जून 2021 को कबीर जयंती के पावन अवसर पर आयोजित की गई।

ज्येष्ठ मास की पूर्णिमा को कबीर जयंती के रूप रूप में मनाया जाता है। कबीर एक व्यक्ति नहीं वरन एक विचार हैं। इस सभा का विषय था “संत कबीर” जो समर्पित था कबीर के विचारों तथा उनकी शिक्षाओं को। कबीर ने एक ईश्वरवाद की संकल्पना को बल दिया था। सभा की शुरुआत इसी विचारधारा से प्रेरित प्रार्थना गीत ‘एक ओंकार’ से हुई जो सर्वधर्म समभाव का प्रतीक है। इसे प्रस्तुत किया था अद्विका पांडे ने । 

एक अच्छे दिन की शुरुआत एक अच्छे विचार के साथ होनी चाहिए सभा में ‘आज का सुविचार’ प्रस्तुत किया रिशित ने। कबीर जयंती के इस पावन उपलक्ष्य पर कबीर के जीवन तथा दर्शन पर प्रकाश डाला अद्विका, श्रिया तथा मन्नत ने। कबीर के भजन अपने संगीत के लिए भी जाने जाते हैं, जो संगीतात्मकता कबीर के पदों में देखने को मिलती है वैसा ही संगीत गिटार पर प्रस्तुत किया स्नेह ने जिन्होंने कबीर के प्रमुख दोहों को अपनी धुनों में संजोया। सभा का समापन परम आदरणीया प्रधानाचार्या सुश्री पद्मा श्रीनिवासन, आदरणीय मुख्य-अध्यापिका रश्मि मल्होत्रा, कक्षा 9 के कक्षा प्रतिनिधि तथा असेंबली प्रभारी के प्रति धन्यवाद ज्ञापन से हुआ।\

Topic: “Save our world , save our future. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”.

As a step towards inspiring, educating and motivating children and also highlighting  the importance of ‘Mother Nature’ a presentation was prepared by the students of class 6A .

The presentation commenced with a beautiful shloka in Sanskrit by Anushri Kabi seeking forgiveness from Mother Earth.The compère, Zaara Zahid Khan, greeted the audience with an introduction to the topic followed by an enchanting song recited by Shaylah Shankar which left the listeners spellbound. Rehraas Singh articulated the topic with a reflective speech , followed by the thought for the day by Valencia Rajkumari and a beautiful poem by Vritii Bhandari. Earth Anthem was shared by Vaishnavi Sudershan . Dhairya Barnwal recited shlokas from the ‘Bhumi Sukta’ to further emphasize the importance of Mother Earth . The  presentation concluded with  the vote of thanks delivered by Tejaswini Bairy. Creativity was shown by Srishti Datar and Vritii Bhandari through the colourful and pleasing slides and e-invites .

Topic: “It is Better to Win Over Yourself, than to Win Over a Million Enemies.”

We can be our own worst enemies — sometimes we’re the ones holding ourselves back in life. Consequently, our biggest victories in life are those that help us surmount our own shortcomings — to understand and know our own strengths and then build upon them. The class presentation of XII-X was based on a similar message, a theme advocated by Lord Mahavira – “It is Better to Win Over Yourself, than to Win Over a Million Enemies.”

The presentation commenced with a thought provoking Sanskrit shloka by Saanvie Verma and its meaning explained by Sanah Kharabanda in English. Kasvi Vij delivered a warm welcome to the audience, following which a soulful morning prayer – “Tu Hi Ram Hai” was sung by Mannat Singh. The thought for the day was delivered by Aishwarya Vig in Hindi and by Nandini in English. Parthivi Guglani, Ishaan Mahajan, Aanya Roy, Vidushi Shanker and Sanskriti Sharma then delivered an enlightening speech, encouraging the audience to win their own battles rather than challenging their opponents.Mannat Singh concluded the presentation with a beautiful rendition of “Take on the World”. The vote of thanks was delivered by Udita Samyal. Mihika Jain and Anandit Thakur prepared the google slides. Shriya Arora, Yuvika Kapoor and Saanvie Verma prepared the e-invites. The audio editing and overall compilation was done by Sanah Kharabanda.

Topic-  World Health Day

“To keep the body in good health is a duty…otherwise we shall not be able to keep the mind strong and clear.” – Buddha

In order to bring to the attention of the audience the value of good health, the students of VII-C depicted the importance of World Health Day through their Class Presentation.The assembly commenced with a note on the importance of good health. Aru Batra led  the class presentation which was followed by a divine prayer sung by Vedant Vinayak Ojha. Tanmay Gupta recited the Sanskrit Shlok bringing out the message that how everything in life can be recovered except good health. Arnav Sakshya gave an introduction on World Health day ; ‘ Building a fairer world for everyone.’ An interesting and effective story was narrated by Hridyanshi Singh . A rhythmical poem was delivered by Avechal Roy. Pakhi Bisht and Vrinda Goel reiterated the message through the ‘Thought for the day’ . The presentation was created by Aru Batra with coordinated visuals added by Md Arsh Khan.

Topic- International Noise Awareness Day 

Noise  pollution can be as harmful as air pollution.  Excessive noise leads to many health problems like fatigue , stress , cardiovascular diseases , cognitive impairment etc . Noise pollution impacts millions of people and causes several  health problems.Consider what we gain when noise is not present and we are surrounded by the beauty of tranquility and calm. . Silence enables us to listen to our inner voice, ponder over our thoughts and focus on the beauty of the outside world.When noise is limited, the general health and well being of an individual improves. So, it’s time to pause, listen to silence and learn from it, as it has a quality and dimension of its own. Noise awareness day was founded in 1996 by the Centre for hearing and communication in Us , with the aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of noise on the health of people.

The assembly commenced with a divine shlok recited by Arnav goel followed by a prayer sung by him . Then Maulik Gupta narrated a beautiful thought followed by a soulful rendition by Vasundhara , Siddhi , Faiza accompanied by Amaan who played the guitar . Subsequently Saksham delighted everyone with his musical instrument , further Harit and Aujaswit delivered a thought provoking speech . Finally the presentation  came to an end with a profound recitation of a beautiful Self composed poem by Aamna. The comperes were Arjun , Jayeeta , Saksham and Rachit . The Ecard was designed by Aniket and Maulik . The compilation of audio and preparation of slides was done by Aniket, Rudra and Pulkit Gupta

‘HAPPINESS QUOTIENT’ – LET THE CREATIVITY FLOW’

“The best part of competition is that through it we discover what we are capable of and how much more we can actually do than we ever believed.”

Delhi Public School R.K Puram organised ‘Happiness Quotient- Let The Creativity Flow’, a week long fiesta of intersection virtual competitions for Grades VI- VIII from 31st May to 4rth June 2021.  The students’ enthusiastic participation was warmly welcomed and ensured a fruitful experience for both the students and the teachers.  It gave an opportunity for the creative outpour necessary for the overall growth of an individual.

English- Grade VI organised ‘House of Dreamers – the Intersection Virtual Competition’ on 31st May 2021. The activity involved enactment of any one fictional character from the given list within the stipulated time: Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Hermione (Harry Potter Series), Harry Potter (Harry Potter Series), Swaminathan (Swami and Friends), Scarecrow (The Wizard of Oz), Tin Woodman (The Wizard of Oz), Lion (The Wizard of Oz), Alice (Alice in Wonderland). There were sixty-eight participants, who were judged by Ms. Ruma Madan, Ms. Ritu Kumar, Ms. Komal Chaudhary and Ms. Shruti Vijan. 

Grade VII conducted ‘Curtain Call’, an intersection monologue presentation competition on 3rd June 2021. Participants were required to present a short monologue from the perspective of any one famous literary character that they had selected from the given list: Alice from ‘Alice in Wonderland’, The Giant from ‘The Selfish Giant’, Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Swami from ‘Swami and Friends’, Harry Potter, Matilda, Gulliver and Sherlock Holmes. Thirty-two students participated in the competition and it was judged by Ms Livano Banerjee, Ms Jaya Bharti, Ms Ekta Arora and Ms Divya Kapoor. 

Grade VIII coordinated ‘Quizzards of Oz’, a language based online quiz on 2nd June 2021. The objective behind conducting this quiz was to judge the students on the basis of their conceptual clarity, understanding, timeliness, accuracy and application of knowledge. The questions were based on grammar, vocabulary, spellings, figures of speech, authors, poets and books. There were two rounds in total for this event.

Thirty- eight students took part in the quiz. As part of Round I, participants were asked to attempt a Google Form based quiz involving thirty questions. After which, the shortlisted participants moved onto Round II or the Final Round on a multi media online quiz platform, Kahoot involving twenty questions. Out of thirty- eight students, nineteen were shortlisted for Round II.  The event was judged by Ms. Ruma Madan, Ms. Divya Kapoor and Ms. Mansa Thomas.  The winners of the competitions are:

MathGrade VI conducted a musical euphony, ‘Symphonies Of Mathematics’ on 1st June 2021. The topic for the event was, “All About Geometry”. Each participant was supposed to sing either a mathematical song/a jingle/ recite a poem based on the given topics. They could use any musical instrument available at home. The aim of the competition was to help the students to understand the concept of mathematics and develop vocabulary. Fifty- five participants were marked on their performance. It was judged by Ms. Anita Sachdeva, Ms. Priyanshi, Ms. Neelu Oberoi and Ms. Isha Jain on the basis of clarity of concept displayed by the song, overall presentation and time limit. The judges enjoyed the compositions and praised the students for their innovations. 

Grade VII organised ‘Quadrilaterals Robot’ on 2nd June 2021. The participants had to design a 2D Robot on an A4/A3 sheet using different quadrilaterals either by cutting, pasting, painting or sketching within the stipulated time. There were fifty- six participants. The judges were Ms. Divya Tyagi, Ms. Jatinder Kaur and Ms. Neelu Oberoi. The judgement was based on creativity, originality, neatness and application of usage of quadrilaterals in overall presentation. 

Grade VIII coordinated ‘Code Breaker’ on 31st May 2021. The participants were assigned a set of linear equations. They had to match the solutions to the letters in the decoding grid to produce anagrams of secret messages. Cracking codes and unravelling the true meaning of secret messages were an interesting activity, which they enjoyed thoroughly. The code chosen was “MATH IS FUN”. There were forty- nine participants in total. The judges were Ms.Tandeep Kaur and Ms. Ritu Nayar. The judgement was done on the basis of submitting the solutions with correct code. The time taken by students to reach the code was also considered while deciding the winners.  The winners are as follows:

HindiGrade VI conducted ‘Kaho Kahani’ competition on 31st May 2021. The aim of the event was to instill confidence in students about the language. Ten students participated in the event.  It was judged by Mr. Manish Jain and Mr. Sushil Prasad. 

Grade VII and Hindi Department’s Samvad Club organised ‘Doha Gayan Pratiyogita’ on 3rd June 2021. The objective of the event was to cultivate the love for language and Hindi literature among students. Famous compositions of Kabir, Surdas, Rahim, Redas and Mirabai were recited by the participants. It was judged by Ms. Sangita Bajpai and Ms. Priyamvada.

Grade VIII coordinated ‘Vaad Vivad Pratiyogita’ on 2nd June 2021. The aim of the event was to instill confidence in students about the language. Ten students participated in the event.  It was judged by Ms. Seema Mehta and Ms. Vibha Sidhu. The winners are as follows:

ScienceGrade VI organised a greeting card making competition on the theme- ‘From Trash to Treasure’ on 2nd June 2021. The students were required to prepare an attractive greeting card by reusing or recycling waste materials like dried leaves, flowers, beads, buttons, ribbons, etc. The aim of the competition was to sensitise the students towards the importance of 3R’s- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation of forty seven students. The judges of the event were Mr. Shiven Tanwar, Ms. Deepika Malhotra, Ms. Jatinder Kaur and Ms. Sushma Sardana.  It was judged on the basis of creativity, originality, neatness, application of ideas to develop art and overall presentation.

Grade VII conducted ‘Awareness Pamphlet Making Competition’ on 1st June 2021 with the intent of honing the skills of critical thinking, reflection, analysis and synthesis in the students.  The participants were instructed to make an A-4 sized handmade pamphlet, on any one of the topics: ‘Indoor Pollution’, ‘Safety Measures for Natural Disasters’ and ‘Climate Change’. Each participant was given a minute to showcase their pamphlets and explain the science concept behind it. There were a total of nineteen participants. The judging panel involved Mr. Amit Rajput, Ms. Ritu Kumar and Mr. Himanshu Bedi.

Grade VIII coordinated ‘Preservation Is The Key’ on 3rd June 2021. The participants were asked to make an infographic with illustrations on ‘Role of Science in Food Preservation’. Apart from facilitating growth mindset and increasing intrinsic motivation of the child, the objective of the competition was to make the students understand the reasons for preserving food and to be aware of the consequences of not preserving food. The judges for the competition were Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Mr. Subodh Kumar and Ms. Alinda Holla. A total of nine students participated in the competition. The winners are as follows:

Social ScienceGrade VI organised Story Telling Competition, ‘Stories From The Panchatantra And The Jatakas’ on 2nd June 2021.  The aim of this competition was to interconnect various disciplines and establish the fact that moral values are ageless and timeless. By picking tales from Jatakas and Panchatantra, the aim was to connect the values of equality, fraternity, friendship, excellence to the present day political and social scenario.  There were eighteen participants in total.  The event was judged by Mr. Anang Saxena,  Ms. Sangita Bajpai, Ms. Shruti Talwar and Ms. Richa Basrao.

Grade VII conducted a Collage/Poster Making Competition on 1st June 2021. The objective of the competition was to ignite the fire of imagination and creativity in the students. The idea was also to make the students use their knowledge, understanding and awareness in creating their visuals (posters) to raise other student’s awareness about the rich cultural heritage of India, the importance of maintaining a healthy body and preservation of our environment.  The themes were ‘Monuments of India’, ‘A Healthy Mind Lives In A Healthy Body’ andForests Are The Lungs Of Our Land’. There were forty four participants in total. The judges were Ms. Shruti Mishra, Ms. Taruna Didi and Ms. Archna Anthwal.

Grade VIII coordinated ‘Just A Minute Competition’ on 3rd June 2021. The topics were: ‘Freedom to me is _____’, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” – By Mahatma Gandhi, ‘World’s energy lies in sun and the wind’, ‘Migration: Is it a boon or a bane?’, ‘Rights and Duties are the two sides of the same coin’ and ‘Constitutional Values- what do they mean to me?’ The aim of the competition was to give students an opportunity to arrange their thoughts on the chosen topic and speak coherently for a minute. It also aimed at boosting confidence and developing public speaking skills. There were fourteen participants in total. The judges were Ms. Vandana Chandhoke, Ms. Atika Dayal, Ms. Sabreena Bansal and Ms. Rupa Das. The winners are as follows:

FrenchThe French Department organised ‘Find The Orator in You’ an  online competition for Classes VI-VIII on 4th June 2021. In this competition, participants had to prepare any one out of the six topics (‘L’amitié’, ‘Les sports’, ‘Les vacances d’été’, ‘Le voyage’, ‘Ma famille ou Mon école’) already provided to them and then present it in 60-80 words. The aim of the competition was to improve the French speaking and presentation skills of the students. On the day of the event, thirty- four students participated with full vigour and enthusiasm. This event was judged by the experienced and highly qualified judges: Dr Shubhra Gupta and Dr Anuj Sharma. Their judgement criteria was based on the participant’s fluency and pronunciation, voice modulation, content delivery, creativity and originality and overall presentation.  The winners of the competitions are:

German– On 4th June 2021, a  Poster Making Competition for Classes VI- VIII was conducted by the German Department.The purpose of this event was to create and maintain the interest of the students in the language and develop their language and competitive skills.  Participants had to make a poster on any one of the given topics which were: ‘gesund leben’,  ‘Covid -19’, ‘Im Park oder am Computer spielen’, ‘mein Tagesablauf heutzutage’, ‘Online Stunden’.  The poster had to be handmade. The participants had to present their posters and speak on it for not more than 30 seconds in German. The event was judged by Ms Reema Chauhan and Ms Dilma Prahladan. Spanish– The Spanish Department conducted AD-ZAP competition, an advertising strategy contest for the students of Classes VI-VIII on 4th June 2021. The objective of the competition was to test the students’ creativity and out-of-the-box thinking skills at the same time testing their diction and command over the Spanish language. The participants had to present a small advertisement in Spanish on one of the following topics which were given in advance: ‘Hand Sanitizer’, ‘Immunity Boosters’, ‘Board Games’. The competition was judged by Dr. Lovey Srivastava and Ms. Ishita Wadhwa. 

The participants were judged on the basis of their diction and dialogue delivery, creativity and originality, adherence to time and voice modulation. The competition saw an enthusiastic participation of a total of thirty- eight students. The participants were brilliant as they used witty one-liners and taglines, poems and role-play to present their respective products. The competition was fierce and the judges had a tough time judging the winners. The winners of the competitions are:

Sanskrit– The Sanskrit Department organised ‘Srimadbhagvad Geeta Shlok Ucharan’ competition on 4th June 2021 for Classes VI- VIII.  The aim of the competition was to build the confidence and instill love for Indian culture and its holy book.  There were twenty- nine participants in total. The participants gave melodious performances. The event was judged by Ms. Puja Mishra and Ms. Richa. The winners of the competitions are:

Topic- Smile and the world smiles with you

The Class Presentation conveyed the message of peace, happiness and laughter We all should spread happiness amongst the people around us especially in these difficult times.A smile is something which can bring joy to everyone without hurting anyone.A kind word can bring a smile and change a person’s mood.Smile is infectious spread it everywhere.

The Presentation started with Paavani’s shlok and its meaning  which was followed by the prayer song beautifully sung by Manan. Then came the Thought for the day by Kenisha, Aryan,Shruti and Anahita. Short speeches were delivered in a very effective way by Anisha, Divyansh and Lisha and ended with a story by Aayush.The comperes for the day were Aaliya and Ranvir. Slide presentation was made by Nabhay and audio compiled by Suhaan..

Topic-  Winds of Change

“When the winds of change blow, some people build walls, while others build windmills.”This is beautifully explained by the children of class IX-O through their class presentation.

The presentation commenced with the introduction and a beautiful quote by Pranavi Parihar. Luv Anand then gave his view on the topic, followed by the recitation of  Hanuman Chalisa by Vikhyat Saini and the recitation of a couplet along with its explanation by Anshul Sareen and Aditya Gupta. After this, an interesting and mesmerizing discussion took place between Namya Kohli, Naisha Singh, Sitamsh Narasimhan  and Pranavi Parihar, highlighting the importance of embracing  the winds of change, by the life story of an eagle.This was followed by a beautiful quote by Avishi Gupta. Rayna Borah shared her viewpoints through a melodious song, motivating us to understand our worth and work hard to show everyone our true colours. Naisha Singh recited a beautiful self composed French poem ‘Le Changement’, highlighting that change is the only constant in life and we should learn to accept it. At last, Hrishikesh Aggarwal presented the thought for the day and the class presentation ended with the vote of thanks by Mohd Zaid Iqbal.The invite was designed by Geet Chahal.

Topic- Vibe high and the magic around you will unfold
Your vibration is a direct reflection of your inner thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The vibe is the aura a person possesses. The vibrations that we give out attract feelings of gratitude. The state of joy one achieves when a person’s actions and beliefs are  aligned with all the pieces of their life have integrity and love at their core. The message conveyed was that friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between people. Having trust and confidence in your friend is the most crucial factor of a strong friendship. Part of caring for a friend is honoring what they tell you, no matter the significance, with confidentiality and respect. A true friendship will always have your best interest at heart. Your friends will do all in their power to keep you safe.The presentation also talked about Moatsü which is a festival celebrated by the Ao people of Nagaland, India. It is celebrated in the first week of May every year. The Moatsu is a celebration of a good harvest after the sowing is over and is a rest period for the tribesmen as it gives them some scope for entertainment after the distressing work of clearing fields and sowing seeds. Women are dressed in their best traditional attire and adorned with ornaments. All people dance, eat and sing songs in praise of the lover and the village. In today’s modern and fast-paced world, the tribal festival is celebrated with great pomp in keeping with their traditions.
