The National Girls Open Table Tennis Championship 2019 was held at DPS Maruti Kunj , Haryana from 1st to 2nd August 20219. DPS RK Puram Won 1st Runner Up Trophy and came second in the Team Championship.
Annual Inter-School Science Festival
Delhi Public School, RK Puram hosted its Annual Inter-School Science Festival, ‘Sapere Aude‘ Latin which means Dare to Know). A total of 34 schools across Delhi NCR, actively participated in this vibrant extravaganza.
The eleven on-site activities of the festival included waste wise creativity challenge, 3D Collage of a Healthy Lunchbox, Science Quiz, Ad Act Actinium, Turncoat Debate, Slide Presentation, Model Making, Let’s Innovate, 3-D Collage and four off-site events.
The Science Quiz in its multiple stages provided a platform to test students’ knowledge on the history, significance, and application of theories related to Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. A preliminary round was conducted first followed by an invigorating knockout round.
Model Making required the students to design ingenious models outlining the importance of Physics in our everyday life. The competition was judged by Mr. Bibhuti Pandey.
Through Slide Presentation students were able to display their fascination of the wonders of space, encompassing topics ranging from black holes to extra-terrestrial life on Mars to the impact of global warming on the very planet we call home. Their presentations were judged by Mr. Sanjay Agarwal.
Ad-act-Actinium offered the students the opportunity to showcase their self-created advertisements on stage. The enactments brought out the theatrical abilities of the students along with their insight on the latest innovations in sustainable products. Mr. Amber Sahil and Dr. Ruby Mishra judged these acts.
Chem Canvas presented a myriad of artistic, thought-provoking graphics on science. The posters aimed at creating awareness about the harmful effects of chemicals and using innovative scientific methods to combat them. This creative activity was judged by Ms. Monica Bhatia.
Turncoat Debate gave the students opportunities to express their views in the form of arguments pertaining to impromptu topics on the advancements in the fields of Biology and Biotechnology. The debaters were also tested on their previous knowledge by the judges Dr. Deepak Gaur, Professor, JNU, and Dr. Atika Dayal, HOD English.
Let’s Innovate gave a voice to students to present innovative yet simple teaching methodologies to facilitate the study of biology. It provided an opportunity for students to suggest alternatives to traditional classroom teaching. The event was judged by Dr. Varsha Baweja and Dr. Kamal Gupta, Prof. Deshbandhu College.
Food Adulteration Test consisted of the young biologists exploring the effects of contaminants in food by conducting meticulous tests. Their sophisticated work was judged by Dr. Richa Mishra, Prof. Venkateshwara College, and Mr. SS Raghav, Chief Technical Officer, NFL, FSSAI.
As the name suggests, Waste- wise Creativity Challenge encouraged the students to get creative with waste. This gave them a chance to combine their sense of aesthetics with concern for the environment. This activity was judged by Dr. Jaydeep Bhattacharya, Assistant Professor, School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Ms. N Sudeshna, senior faculty, English Department.
Paint an E-Poetry required the participants to represent a given theme both graphically and poetically. The event provided an insight into the participants’ artistic as well as poetic abilities. This was judged by Ms. Richa Mishra and Mr. Shiven Singh Tanwar.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Principal, Delhi Public School R K Puram expressed her fascination with the innovative creations of the participants and mentioned the significant role of science in giving life to the world and Art for making it beautiful. She encouraged the aspiring scientists to not confine their knowledge within the four walls of their classroom but to apply it in the real world. She not only congratulated the students on their remarkable work but also thanked the teachers and volunteers for contributing to the success of the event.

Overall First Prize- Extravaganza ’19
Students of DPS RK Puram participated in EXTRAVAGANZA ’19 organised by Frank Anthony Public School ,on 21st August 2019 and bagged the overall first position. Apoorva Jaiswal of class XII-O and Pranav Gupta of class XI-O participated in Bulls and Bears. Nishit Kumar of class XII-Q and Shobit Agarwala of class XI-O participated in Just an Idea.

Tarini Kapoor of class XI-V was recognised by WEF (Women Economic Forum ) , where she received an award for ‘Young Innovators Creating A BetterWorld For All’. One of the youngest speakers at the forum, she spoke about the community service initiative she has co-founded. This initiative, ‘Help Us Skill’ helps underprivileged girl children learn basic vocational skills like English, Mathematics, and Computers.
International French Language Olympiad 2018
Two students of Delhi Public School , R.K.Puram – Ms Mehak Matta and Ms Yukti Poddar (both now studying in Class 11) have secured the First Position (International Rank 1) in the International French Language Olympiad (IFLO) that was conducted in December 2018 and results of which were recently declared.
They have been awarded a certificate, a trophy, a gold medal and a cheque of Rs 10,000/- each.

First Prize-Stagekraft 2019 –Sanskriti School – Street Play
The students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram participated in “Nukkad Natak” at ‘Stagekraft’ organised by Sanskriti school on 9 August 2019. The students presented a very impactful play on the topic, “Baba Andhwishvasi”. The team of 10 members secured the first position.
First Prize-Harmony And Eco Fest -MTNL Perfect Health Mela – Street Play
The students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School, RK Puram were awarded the First prize in the ‘Harmony and Eco Fest’ conducted at the ‘MTNL Perfect Health Mela’ at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. There were around 3000 students participating in various events and Heart Care Foundation of India and Dept. of Health and FW Govt. of NCT Delhi jointly with various Central and Delhi state govt departments. The team participated in the National Inter -School Street Play Competition on 19th October They presented a Nukkad Natak on the topic ‘Alcohol and Harm Reduction’.
Scholar Badge Ceremony Class X

The Scholar Badge Ceremony for Class X was hosted by Delhi Public
School, R.K Puram on 7th August 2019, for the academic year 2018-19,
where students were lauded for their academic and co-curricular
achievements. The theme for the ceremony was “Your choices should reflect hopes and not your fears.”
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Chief Guest
for the event, Mr. Pramod Grover, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee DPS
RK Puram and Honorary Treasurer, DPS Society, was felicitated by the
Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal.
The Welcome Song and the School Orchestra captivated the audience
with an enthralling symphony. Thereafter, a short film celebrating the
achievements of the school was showcased.
The Principal congratulated the students on their outstanding
achievements and welcomed the Chief Guest. She drew a parallel with the
story ‘Going Places’ by A.R. Barton, which talks of a poor girl who
dreams of a glamorous life. Unfortunately, her dreams are too
unrealistic to be true.She asked the students to have high aspirations
and work steadily towards making them a success .She also spoke of how
parents do not want their children to face failure, and instead advised
the parents present to bestow their children with values needed to fight
their own battles.
The melodic voices of the western choir heralded the commencement of
the cultural programme. This was followed by a skit that highlighted the
courage exhibited by eminent personalities in the face of fear and
adversity. The skit culminated into a dance to the lilting tunes of
‘Jeete Hain Chal’. The Cultural Programme ended with a poignant piece of
Hindi poetry and a Kathak performance.
Mr. Pramod Grover commended the students on their exceptional
performance and shared the story of his long standing association with
the school. He attributed the success of the school in cultural
activities, academics as well as sports, to the Principal, Ms. Vanita
Sehgal. He also emphasized the school’s success in foreign admissions,
something which hasn’t been matched by any other school.
The Award Distribution was conducted by the Class Representative, Ms. Vinita Gupta and Ms. Sini Annie Abraham who introduced the scholars.The Chief Guest, the Principal and Vice Principal congratulated and presented the students with the awards.
The Shrimati Swadesh Malik Memorial Award was bestowed upon the girl student who showed the highest improvement in Class IX.
The Head Mistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra delivered the Vote of Thanks and the ceremony concluded with the national anthem
