Topic – Victory Day – Vijay Divas

“Victory comes only after many struggles and countless defeats.”

Victory Day, also known as Vijay Diwas or Bijoy Diwas, is commemorated every 16th December in India, to observe India’s victory over Pakistan in the War of 1971. On 16 December every year, citizens, senior officials, students & war veterans lay wreaths and remember the sacrifices of the soldiers.

The students of VIII H, paid homage to the brave soldiers through our class presentation. The class presentation began with a soothing prayer by Yashica Rathore. Shloka was recited by Aaryan Veer Lodhi, followed by Rehhet Narula and Abeer Khan with their greetings. Moving on, a meaningful Thought for the day was given by Kavin Malhotra. It was then followed by a thought provoking poem by Poorvi Shankar. Riddhiman, Avish and Saahir then enlightened us with the importance of Vijay Diwas through a dynamic role play. Adrika Aggarwal sung a melodious song to evoke the feeling of patriotism. Concluding the Presentation, Bhavini Bisht delivered the vote of thanks. The appealing E-invite was designed by Gunraj and Diti. The Audio compilation was done by Anav Jain and the powerpoint presentation was made by Atharva.

GSP- Learning from the Best #4 – Celebrating 50 years of DPS RK Puram

Delhi Public School RK Puram hosted the fourth edition of the Guest Speaker Programme series, “Learning from the Best” on 11th December 2021 for classes VI-IX & XI.  The event was organised with the aim of providing the young students of the school with the opportunity to interact with and learn from the experiences of our distinguished alumni.

Among those present were our esteemed Vice Principal, Mr JS Virdi, class representatives, teachers, and students of classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI.

Learning from the Best #4 featured Ms. Medhaavi Didi, Ms. Sonali Jawa, and Ms. Lipsa Mohanty.

Ms. Medhaavi Didi, batch of 2020, served as the President of Think Club for the session 2019-2020. She is a recipient of the G. Bhaskar Memorial Award  in December 2018 for excellence in academics as well as extra curricular activities. She received two gold medals in her 12th Grade- one for being a scholar for seven consecutive years and the other of being a scribe for 6 consecutive years. Currently, she is pursuing BA Economics Honours at Hindu College, and is the Marketing Head at Hindu consulting group, a senior member at Enactus Hindu, and a member of the media team at the Department of Economics. 

Ms. Sonali Jawa graduated from the school in 2017, after having been appointed as the President of the Business Studies Society in the session 2016-2017. She pursued her Bachelors in Commerce from Shri Ram College Of Commerce and graduated in 2020. 

She is currently pursuing her masters at Shri Ram College Of Commerce, Delhi University and is working as the Programme Lead at Dharma Life Labs set up by the Wheeler Institute at London Business School, Accenture & Dharma Life, working towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals. She is among the top 9 percentile in academic performance & has been actively involved in extra curricular initiatives.

Ms. Lipsa Mohanty completed her schooling from the school in 2018, after which she went on to Economics Honours in Ashoka University. She excelled in academics as well as extra-curricular activities there, having been involved in theatre and student politics. Currently, she is working at Airtel Payments Bank as a Management Trainee.

The comperes, Drishty Ajwani and Arica Kaur, extended a warm welcome to all attendees of the session, and presented virtual tokens of appreciation to all the Guest Speakers. The Guest Speakers took turns sharing their journey from being illustrious students of the school to being contributing members of society. They laid special emphasis on the myriad of opportunities Delhi Public School, RK Puram offers, which helped shape their careers and lives. They also extended their gratitude to the adept faculty of the school, who not only guide the students vis-a-vis the curriculum but also ensure exposure to the real world, to help their students get the best possible education.

This was followed by the Question and Answer session conducted by Aryan Kumar and Manasvi Pradhan. Students asked a selection of curated questions to which they received elaborate and insightful responses. 

Ms. Medhaavi Didi gave exceptionally helpful advice to the students, wherein she emphasised on the importance of a well-rounded school career, talking about how her experience as being affiliated with clubs and societies helped hone her critical thinking and managerial skills that she has been utilising in her professional life. She commented on how the teachers and mentors in the school played a pivotal role in helping her pursue her dreams and inch higher to the pinnacle of success.

Ms. Sonali Jawa addressed the gathering with an inspiring air to her, and conveyed her experiences as a professional. She shared wonderful tips to the students for building their Curriculum Vitae and highlighted the importance of networking and seeking advice from their mentors and teachers. She also shared some helpful counsel to prepare for Board examinations, giving detailed and subject-specific tips. Her adept inspiring words to the students was highly appreciated, where she conveyed the importance of hardwork and perseverance in the face of tough times in order to scale great heights. 

Ms. Lipsa Mohanty shared insightful and experienced words on the importance of not letting stress get the best of us during our crucial and formative years, acknowledging the daunting competition one is faced with as a student of such a prestigious school. She gave detailed accounts of her experience in the school, and then as a part of Ashoka University to help the students get a taste of life in college. She also expressed that taking time out for oneself is necessary, and that it is okay to fail and try out new things, as long as one is prioritising oneself while doing it. 

Their patient and elaborate responses were incredibly helpful to the students who hope to follow in their footsteps.

The Q & A session was concluded by Arica Kaur on a high note and left the audience with inspiring words. Drishty Ajwani delivered the vote of thanks, and expressed gratitude to the honourable Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan, the respected Vice Principals, and teachers for helping make the event possible, and the Guest Speakers for taking out their valuable time and sharing their experiences with the audience. The event was organised by Ms. Shelly Malhotra and Ms. Archna Deepak, with technical support from Mr. Mukesh Kumar and his team.

Topic – Human Rights Day

“Dalai Lama once said “”Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free.”” Every year, the world celebrates Human Rights Day on 10th December, to raise awareness about people’s social, cultural, and physical rights, and to ensure the welfare of everyone. In order to highlight the value of human rights, the students of class VII-J had put forward a striking presentation. The class presentation commenced with a Sanskrit shloka recited by Disha. Thereafter, Divyansh greeted the audience with an introduction to the topic, followed by a soulful prayer recited by Kabir Sahni and the explanation to which was given by T Manasa. The thought of the day was then presented by Sahir. A short speech by Naitik was preceded by a short narration by Reyansh, Namya, Kabir Mehta, Arav Gosai, Aniruddh, Advika, Ahaana and Pratham. Lastly the poem, Back to Being Human By Ms. Moem was recited by Tiara and Anshika, which concluded the class presentation. The vote of thanks was delivered by Tisya. Ayaan, Maryam, Avika and Aditi served as the comperes. The artwork was created by Kashvi, Disha, Reyansh, Anshika, Shaarav, Ananya, Ranvir, Ayesha and Maryam. The slides were collated by  Shaarav, Kashvi and Pratham; the audio was compiled by Shaarav, Tiara and Shreyan; and the video was also put together by Shaarav.”

5th RANK IN ALL INDIA 64TH NATIONAL SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIP

 Preksha Agrawal  of Class IX L has achieved a distinguished feat of standing  5th in All India 64th National Shooting  Championship. She participated in the Sub Youth category and had the honour of equalling the NATIONAL RECORD. She has been selected for the INDIAN NATIONAL TEAM Trials to be held soon.She Scored 566 which was the previous  NATIONAL RECORD. She just missed the podium by 2 points. She has been tirelessly working on the shooting range for the last 3-4 yrs and have won several competitions for the school (Inter School) and others along the way.We wish her all the best so as to achieve laurels for our school, our state, and our country in near future.

Topic – “I AM DIFFERENT, NOT LESS”

 Warwick Davis once said, “” The World worries about Disability more than Disabled people do.”” People with disabilities don’t hope for the world to treat them with sympathy, considering them to be special or different from others, but the only thing they wish is for the world to treat them as normal people. And we the students of XI J on this auspicious International Day of Disabled Persons would like to present a small token of respect and reverence for the people with disabilities in the form of this class presentation. The class presentation began with the Gayatri Mantra by Tisya Gupta. Shloka was presented  by  Shambhavi Tripathi in her melodious voice, followed by Aryya Lohiya with her greetings. Moving on, an inspiring Thought for  the day was given by Ervan Panghal. It was then followed by a thought provoking poem by Ananya Tomar. Akul Ranjan, Kushagra Gupta and Shreyas Modi then paid a  conversational tribute to the people who have emerged winners despite their physical disabilities. Thereafter, an empowering song “”Speechless”” was performed by Tisya Gupta.Concluding the Presentation, Prarthana madan and Manan Khanna delivered the vote of thanks. The appealing E-invites were designed by Kejal Garg and Prarthana Madan.The script writing was done by Manan Khanna and Prarthana Madan. The Audio compilation was done by Anumeya Sehgal and Kavin Desi Valli and the powerpoint presentation was made by Raghav Chaudhary. And lastly, the description was written by Laishram Rehan Singh.

“Topic- Human Rights Day – Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere

Martin Luther King once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. Human rights are universal rights that all humans have by birth as they are moral principles for certain standards of human behavior. In order to highlight the value of human rights, the students of class XI-C had put forward a riveting presentation. The presentation started with Aaahana’s exuberant greetings and Avi introducing the topic. It was followed by Shubhang’s fervent prayer and Agrima, Samit, and Suparna’s compering. Atharva recited a melodious Sanskrit shloka which was translated by Tanmay. Prisha highlighted the violation of human rights and Rishit and Mansi enlightened us with the thought for the day. Aatreyi shed some light on the suffering caused around the globe due to violation of human rights and Ananya recited an eye-opening self-composed poem. Kayra stressed the importance of human rights which was followed by Yash singing a tuneful song ‘We Are The World’. The presentation was concluded by Yati and a vote of thanks was proposed by Aaahana Mehrotra. The e-invite was prepared by Aaahana and Prisha. The slides were made by Prisha and the audio was compiled by Prisha and Aaahana.

Intellectual Property Rights

Cell for IPR Promotion and Development (CIPAM), a professional body under

the aegis of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India organised a virtual seminar on November 27th, 2021 for the students of classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI of DPS RK Puram on the topic “Intellectual Property Rights”. The programme was hosted with the aim of providing the students with the opportunity to interact with and learn from the accomplished people in the field.The class representatives, teachers and students of classes VI, VII, VIII, IX and XI attended the programme.

The virtual seminar was conducted by Mr. N. Subramanian along with Ms. Drishti Khurana. Mr. N. Subramanian, an engineering graduate and a registered Patent agent, started his IP Career as a Patent Scientist and grew as an in-house IP Trainer cum Analyst in the University. He has experience in Patent searching, drafting and filing; Handling the IPR seminars, Awareness programmes, Hands-on training; Handling the Value-Added course on IPR; Framing University IP Policy and creating an innovation ecosystem in the University. 

While working at CIPAM as an Assistant manager, he takes care of awareness vertically. He is also a mentor of change for Atal Tinkering Lab and acts as a resource person to promote IPR in several schools, colleges and forums such as UGC-HRDC, EDII-TN, All India Radio etc. 

Ms. Drishti Khurana is working in Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of commerce and industry as a Management Trainee. 

The programme began with Riya Gupta and Lipi Saini welcoming the audience and the guest speakers. This was followed by Mr. N. Subramanian’s presentation in which he discussed Intellectual Property Rights and its different types with the audience. He also included various fun activities to interact with the audience which took the energy level of the audience to great heights.

The question and answer session was conducted by Drishty Ajwani and Aryan Kumar. Students asked their questions regarding the topic which were very patiently answered by Mr. N. Subramanian. He emphasised the importance of intellectual property rights and how they help the authors to publish their work without the fear that someone else will use it and take credit for it. 

The session was concluded by Riya Gupta with a vote of thanks. The event was organised by Ms. Shelly Malhotra and Ms. Archna Deepak, with technical support from Mr. Mukesh Kumar and his team.

GSP- Learning from the Best #3 – Celebrating 50 years of DPS RK Puram

The Think Club of Delhi Public School, RK Puram hosted a Guest Speaker Programme on 27th November 2021 for classes IX & XI, the third in its series “Learning from the Best.”  The programme was organised with the aim of providing the students of the school with the opportunity to interact with and learn from the experiences of our distinguished alums.

The respected Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan, class representatives, teachers, and students of classes IX and XI attended the programme.

Learning from the Best #3 featured Mr. Tanmay Gupta and Ms. Adhya Sharma.

Mr. Tanmay Gupta achieved All India Rank 1 in NEET 2021, with a perfect score of 720/720. He has been a distinguished part of the DPS RK Puram family ever since he joined the school in 2019. He managed an incredible 97.6% in his CBSE Board Examinations. During his time in the school, he was also a part of various clubs and extracurricular activities, like Think Club, which helped him achieve great heights. Currently, he has plans to attend the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, commonly known as AIIMS, to pursue his further medical education.

Ms. Adhya Sharma, batch of 2019, is currently a Junior at Yale University, where she is majoring in Computer Science and Economics. She has continued in her dynamic spirit from DPS RK Puram to Yale where she is the President of India@Yale, an undergraduate organisation which shares Indian culture with the student body. She has also held the position of Vice President of the Global Research and Consulting Group, along with having spent time serving on the boards of the Women’s Leadership Initiative and Yale Daily News. Adhya will be interning at Meta, formerly known as Facebook, as a software engineer next summer in New York City.

The comperes, Samyak Kapoor and Divyansh Nayan, enthusiastically welcomed the audience and the Guest Speakers, and presented them with a virtual token of appreciation. This was followed by the honourable Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan’s address to the gathering, in which she expressed her gratitude to both guest speakers for being there as a mentor to the aspiring students of classes IX and XI, and congratulated them on their respective successes. She highlighted the importance of such programmes and urged Adhya and Tanmay to inspire the budding students of DPS RK Puram and provide them with insightful tips.

The Question and Answer session was conducted by Divyansh Nayan and Sneha Chandra. Students, as well as teachers, asked their questions to both speakers. 

Mr. Tanmay Gupta gave intensive and patient responses to all questions, emphasising the importance of school and teachers in achieving an excellent score in competitive exams as he did. He encouraged the students to practice self-discipline and consistency during their preparation times, while also keeping time for extracurricular activities as stress busters and meaningful time to interact with family and peers. He also recommended study techniques, books, revision tricks and such to the attendees. 

Ms. Adhya Sharma gave elaborate and helpful answers, coupled with insightful anecdotes, to respond to the audience’s questions. She went over the process of filling out applications, appearing for standardised tests, applying for financial aid, and writing essays in detail to help the students out, and also gave accounts of her personal experience during the same. She talked about cultural differences between India and the US, instances of homesickness, network making friends, and how she dealt with them as a first-year. Her elaborate accounts were incredibly helpful to the students who hope to follow in her footsteps.

The session was concluded by Sahana Agarwal on a high note, who left the audience with inspiring words. The event was organised by Ms. Shelly Malhotra and Ms. Archna Deepak, with technical support from Mr. Mukesh Kumar and his team.
