Topic- BONALU -THE FESTIVAL OF GRATITUDE

“Festivals are like a map charting our spiritual progress in God.” ~ Anonymous

As rightly said in the aforementioned quotation, festivals are a time of joy and a chance to show our gratitude and devotion to God. During such harrowing times, festivals play a vital role in rejuvenating people’s minds and providing them much-needed happiness. Recognizing the value of festivals and their importance in a diverse country like ours, the students of XII C sought to spread this message to the whole school by doing their class presentation on one of the many festivals of India – “Bonalu: the festival of gratitude”.

The class presentation began with a thought-provoking Sanskrit shloka on gratitude recited and elucidated by Ayush Kumar Verma. Following this, the assembly compere Sankalp Agrawal called upon Shanchari Sen who recited a melodious rendition of “Vaishnava Janto” as the morning prayer. An introductory speech about Bonalu, a traditional Telangana Hindu festival was given by Diksha Gupta, after which a self-composed poem with both Hindi and English verses was recited by Mannat Sharma and Vaibhav Shukla. Putting the main theme of the festival i.e. “gratitude” to the limelight, Srishti Agarwal shared the thought for the day. Thereafter, the compere called upon the class choir, comprising of Tanishq Agarwal, Shanchari Sen, and Sankalp Agrawal who presented a soulful Hindi-Telugu fusion of the song “Vandhanam”. The presentation concluded with a vote of thanks by Naman Sagtani and Harshita Goyal. The e-vite was prepared by Saumya Sinha and the class presentation wouldn’t have been possible without the technical assistance of Srishti Agarwal and Harshita Goyal.

DIGEX Photography Festival 2021

The Digital Excellence society or DIGEX, is Delhi Public School R.K.puram’s photography and filmmaking society. The Digex Society hosted the most awaited annual event, Digex 2021, on 18 July 2021. This extraordinary event served as a medium of self expression for all its participants. Students from all over the country came together to compete and showcase their talent in fields such as photography, filmmaking, photo-manipulation and more. Garnering a participation of over 900 students from close to  200 schools, the annual Digex fest was hosted on a strictly virtual platform due to the restrictions by the global pandemic.  The event came to fruition with the support of the sponsors, OAASE Learning Studio, IvyAchievement and LaBREZZA.

The event and the members of the club received constant and unwavering support from the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan. She wished the participants the best of luck and through her words, encouraged creativity and hard work.

This year’s event consisted of 7 different categories- Pixelate Senior, Pixelate Junior, CreADive, Rendered, Surprise, Hi-Res  and Camistic.

Pixelate Senior- This category of the event is the online photography contest. Mainly for classes XI and XII , this category provided a platform for students to showcase their skills and creativity through their submission. This category was judged by one of India’s top photographers Mr. Vineet Vohra. Mr. Vohra is an inspiration and a role model for all participants. This year’s topic was ‘Distortion’.

Pixelate junior- Piexalte junior is the online photography contest that  encourages the budding photographers of classes IX and X to give their best, be original and learn more about photography. Judged by a Renowned photographer, Mr. Virendra Adhikari, this category received a large participation and students had to submit their entries on the topic ‘Speed’.

CreADive- CreADive is the On-spot online Advertisement making competition. Students from classes IX-XII can participate and create a captivating visual sequence of 30-40 seconds. Judged by the club’s alumni Vaidurya Nath, the participants had to create an advertisement for ‘sugar’.

Camistic- Camistic is the online ‘story-board’ event. Camistic was the biggest category this year with over 200 students taking part in it. Camistic is an extremely interesting category where participants have to click 3-4 photographs in a specific sequence in order to depict a story. This year, the stories were on the topic ‘rewind’ and the judging was done by a former member Rahul Bouri.

Rendered- Rendered is the newest addition to the Digex Annual event. Rendered is a photo-manipulation related category where participants make a creative piece from scratch on a given topic. This year’s topic was ‘Past//Future’. The participants had to incorporate elements from the past and the future into one entry.

This category was judged by Divyaanshi Chauhaan who is also a former member of the club.

Hi-RES- Hi-RES is the only category of the event that was not held on the spot. It is the online short-film making category where participants formulate a team of 4 students to create a cinematic masterpiece in 4-6 minutes. The films were judged by an alumni  of the club, Abhijay Bhandari and all entries were made on the topic ‘Reversed Roles’.

SURPRISE- The surprise category of the event is perhaps the most endearing category of them all. Participants do not know what their entry will be on until the time for submission begins and the possibilities can range from components of photography, to filmmaking, and more ! This year, the participants had to submit their entries on ‘Light Painting’ which is a type of photography. This category was judged by the former president of the Digex Society, Veronica Mathur.

Preceding the announcement of the results, The Principal Ms. Padma Shrinivasan shared her words of wisdom with the audience.
