Quiz on Psychological Disorders

On 20th November 2020, the school Psychology Club conducted a quiz on psychological disorders.  Due to the global pandemic, it took place on an online forum- Kahoot.

The purpose of the quiz was to test the aptitude and intellectual prowess of the students of class XII. The quiz enabled the participants to think critically and apply their knowledge, and encouraged the students to widen their knowledge about the subject beyond the school curriculum. The students participated with enthusiasm and zeal.

Out of the 13 students who participated, the ones who stood out and secured positions are as follows:

First place- Ananya Chopra (XII-U)
Second place- Neda (XII-A)
Third place- Priyamvada Sharma (XII-U)

Webinar On Cancer Prevention And Clean Yamuna .. 19th November 2020

Webinar on “Cancer Prevention and Clean Yamuna” was organised by Dharamshila Cancer Foundation and Research Centre for the students of Classes XI and VIII on 20 th November 2020 at 2.00pm on the online forum of Zoom meet app.The session was conducted by Dr Suversha Kanna(Founder cum President of Dharamshila Cancer Institute) and Dr. Pragya Singh(Senior Manager of the Institute).Initially Dr. Khanna told the students about cancer and the main reasons behind the increasing cases of this disease.Then she proceeded by enlightening the students about the levels of precautions to be taken at the right time and how self examination plays an important role to diagnose this disorder. She also informed the students how mental health also affects cancer patients and the importance of palliative care At the end of first session students understood the need of adopting healthy lifestyles to prevent this disease

The first talk was followed by a very interactive question answer session leading to the direct connect between the audience and the speaker.

In the later half of the webinar Dr Pragya shared some details with the students through a powerpoint presentation about how pollution of the river Yamuna is affecting the daily life of the people and its side effects on their health. She also emphasised on the need of understanding 5 R’s for the waste disposal and the dangers of using microplastics. She further insisted on the role of present generation and requested them to be more responsible and sensitive towards the conservation of ecosystems Dr Pragya highlighted the incidents of water scarcity in Delhi, and enumerated on the fact that Delhi might be the next “WATER DEAD” city, by the year 2030, just like Cape Town in South Africa.

Overall the webinar proved to be very enriching and fruitful and every student left the meet gaining valuable knowledge about Cancer prevention and Clean Yamuna

In the end Ms Niva Chhonkar tHeadmistress (Classes VI-VIII) and Head of Biology Department thanked the Guest Speakers for sparing their valuable time to educate the children and make them more aware about the significance of a healthy diet, positive approach and exercise to keep Cancer away. Chhath Pooja Holiday

Consequently upon the notification dated 19-11-2020 released by the GNCT of Delhi, it is hereby informed to all concerned Students. Teachers, Administrative and Supporting Staff members that Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash will remain closed on Friday, 20th November 2020 on account of “Chhath Pooja” .

Topic- Take a Chill Pill- Stress Management

“Slow down and everything you’re chasing will come around and catch you,” said the great John De Paula.True to this spirit, the students of XII-B put up a magnificent display in what was their class presentation for the session. 

Presenting a splendid array of soulful renditions, inspirational quotes and thought provoking speeches; the students made sure that the presentation was all that was required by the audience to de-stress before yet another day in the quintessential workaday atmosphere of modern life.The presentation started with a Shabad by Srinjoy Mukherjee as an ode to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, whose 551st birth anniversary shall be celebrated later this month followed by a beautiful thought provided by Divija Chhabra and narrated by Samriddhi Singh. Subsequently, Janhavi Mohan shared some tips on effective stress management techniques, after which was a soulful rendition of the Beatles’ classic, “Let it Be” by Srinjoy Mukherjee. In light of the Chhath Pooja which shall be celebrated on the 20th of this month, Komal enlightened the audience on the significance of the auspicious occasion. Later a beautiful poem on the festival was recited by Ananya Arya, given by Sumit Raj Singh. The vote of thanks was given by Tanisha Rathi, the compère for the occasion. The presentation ended with a meaningful Sanskrit shloka, which was recited by Deepita Singh.The scriptwriter for the speeches was Pranavi Uppal, and the presentation was edited and compiled by Srinjoy Mukherjee. The beautiful e – invites and slides were designed by Anmol.All in all, it was a feel-good presentation, and each member in the audience had a beautiful and happy feeling in his/her heart.

Topic- छठ महापर्व : समरसता का सेतुबंध 

To celebrate the Chhath Puja , the students of class 6 I presented the topic: Chhath puja is dedicated to the Sun and Goddess Shashti Devi in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and requesting the granting of certain wishes.

The presentation commenced with a shloka by Saiansha Kataria & Anaisha Arora, followed by a soulful rendition of the prayer, “Daya ka Daan” by Harnoor Sachdeva. The compères Aditri,Aryaman,Rudra greeted the audience with an introduction to the topic. The thoughts for the day were presented by Vajra, Virika and Vivaan. AmairaA,Aamira Jain, Samanyu, Diya, Shaurya, Aarna, Ranbir, Sahana, Maishaa. Tavish articulated the topic with a reflective speech and some interesting facts. The presentation concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Saisha Dhawan. The invitation card was made by Anaisha,Kashvi,Siya,Arjun,Naisha and the overall compilation of the class presentation was done by Rudra,Kavin and Gurveer.

Topic- Showing Gratitude-Thanksgiving Day 

Showing gratitude is one of the simplest yet most powerful things humans can do for each other, which is what Thanksgiving day represents.  This quote on Gratitude was taken in view of the Thanksgiving day celebration. Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, being thankful and celebrating the harvests as well as the blessings of the year. Gratitude is the key to happiness. The presentation started with the beautiful prayer sung by Vaani Abott and Sefat Ahluwalia. Then the shloka was presented by Shreya Roy and the thought for the day was presented by Vanya Pal in English. Subsequently, Hashmeet Kaur narrated a short story on Gratitude and delivered the speech also.  A self composed poem was recited by Jaysal S Manchanda. A sacred shloka was recited by Sefat Ahluwalia. The class presentation ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Shivansh Gupta. The colourful handmade card was prepared by Anshika Adhikari and  e-invites were made by Jasraj Singh.The overall presentation was organised by Shivansh Gupta.

Topic- Be Yourself, Be unique

Om Hring Suryaye Namah by Suryansh Katoch and Abhas Sinha energised the class presentation followed by a soothing prayer “He Ram” by Saanvi Pandey. Vani Sen introduced the thought of the day – “Always remember that you are unique like everyone else.”The speeches about  unique souls like Mahatma Gandhi and Rani Lakshmi Bai were delivered by Akshar Jain, Jai Upneja, Rudrakshi Mittal , Sannidhya Rai, Padmini Kundu, Kanak Devnani and Varun Motiani.  The poem on International Men’s Day was recited by Vrishti Gupta, Akshita Bhardwaj, Amish Singh, Ritwik Basera, Padmini, Ratan Anand, Naisha Jain, Lavnya Nandi. The unique upcoming Chhat festival was elaborated on by Amish, Vrishti, Lavyna and Kanak.  A melodious song was sung by Mysa Manzoor Dar.  The presentation was compered by Gunn, Abhas, Ratan, Abhinav Aggarwal, Koustubh Kumar, Aadvik Dhingra, Saanvi Khurana, Shreyas Gupta and Arsh Masood. The invitation cards were created by Prisha , Akshita and Vrishti. Gunn and Rudrakshi together worked on the script and presentation.

Topic- Ubuntu : I am because You are

The class presentation of the class XII-L was based on the theme ” Ubuntu -I am because you are”, which means we become happy only when we make someone else happy. The presentation started with a beautiful prayer sung by Saloni Khosla and Ribhav Singh. Then the theme was introduced by Rohan Singh followed by the thoughts for the day by Siddharth Rajput and Devayush Devendra. Archisha Bhatt recited a self composed beautiful poem and then the attractive Radio show was presented by Jayeshwar Singh, Vrinda Khandelwal and Anjali Kedia. After that was a melodious song presented by Saloni Khosla.The compere of this presentation were Rohan Singh and Saumya Goyal. Finally the presentation ended with the vote of thanks by Saumya Goyal.\

Class Presentation VIII-E 17-11-2020

Topic- BHAI DOOJ

Students of Class VIII E chose Bhai Dooj as a theme for class presentation.It is celebrated two days after Diwali and it defines the eternal love between siblings (brother and sister).On this occasion sisters apply tika on the foreheads of their brothers and pray to God for the longevity,well being and prosperity of their beloved brother.In return , the brothers give gifts to their sisters and take a vow of protecting them forever.This festival celebrates the strong bond between brothers and sisters.

The class presentation started with a soulful rendition of a beautiful Shlok in Sanskrit by Rayan Ali followed by a comprehensive speech by Naysa Punhani that emphasised on the values and folk tale associated with the festival of Bhai Dooj. After this, Arnav presented the musical prayer followed by Roopansh Baijal,Vansh Goyal and Harshita who spoke meaningful thoughts for the day. Rishit Mangal recited a mesmerising self composed poem followed by the vote of thanks to our esteemed guests.
