“Creativity is Intelligence; having fun.” 

The Psychology Department of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised a Webinar for the Psychology Students of class XII on 29 April 2021 on the topic “Creativity and Intelligence”, curated by Ms. Neelam Srivastava, a senior faculty member of Vasant Valley School, New Delhi. 

The session proved to be very informative and interactive for the students.The active participation of the students ensured that the webinar was a very productive experience for them. Ms. Srivastava ensured that all the theories and concepts related to the theme were clearly explained in very simple terms. 

It clarified the concepts studied in both 11th and 12th in a fun environment where a lot of freedom was given to express and learn through exploration and innovation. 

The session beautifully summarised the importance of creativity in today’s situation where we are grappling to find a solution to the negativity around. It proved to be an enriching experience that spread a lot of positive energy through the virtual platform.

FAREWELL 2021

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted an online farewell ceremony for the Class XII batch of 2020-21 on 17 April. An enthusiastic and sentimental Class XIth took great pride in organising this ceremony to bid adieu to their seniors, who are now all set to embrace the challenging world ahead. 

The event commenced with an address by the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, where she inspired the students to conquer all obstacles and soar high in the limitless sky. She put forth her views about the great, winding path of life and expressed faith in her students, certain that they would handle whatever life put before them. In addition to this, she also applauded the exemplary performances of the students, appreciating them for combatting all odds, especially during this challenging academic session. 

To mark the beginning of the journey that lay before their beloved seniors, the Western Choir performed an original composition entitled ‘World of Possibilities’. This was followed by a collective and lively dance to a medley of popular songs. To further enliven and enhance the celebratory spirit of the event, students performed a humorous skit poking fun at online classes. The Hindi Choir of Class XI also added life to the evening by singing various songs. 

The Head Girls and the Head Boys expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards their Alma Mater. They also confessed to their mixed feelings on leaving this great institution that has been a source of great opportunities and has been instrumental in shaping their personalities.

The ceremony culminated with a series of recorded motivational messages by the representatives and teachers of Class XII. The boundaries of the screen may have limited this virtual event, but it did not lack the emotion and the spirit that make farewells what they have always been. 

Hostel Farewell Report

“Messy rooms, midnight chats, knock of the warden, kettle noodles.

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted a virtual farewell ceremony for the hostellers of the Class XII batch of 2020-21 on 20 April. The Girls’ and Boys’ Hostels organised the event in unison, to bid a lively and joyful farewell to their seniors. 

The ceremony commenced with an address by the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, who has always generously imparted her wisdom to her pupils and guided them towards the right path. She expressed her regret at not getting to meet her students face-to-face due to the various challenges posed by the past academic session. She also acknowledged the feeling of isolation and loneliness that must have been felt by the Class XII students by not being able to see their friends and classmates in their final year of school. The Principal commended the seniors for smoothly taking on responsibilities and setting a remarkable example for their juniors despite the situation around them. She urged them to look upon this event as a celebration of their years at their Alma Mater and gave them helpful advice on how to juggle between the expectation of their family and society with their own aspirations. She concluded by wishing them happiness and success in all future endeavours and inspired them to leave an indelible mark on society and make the school proud.

A student of Class XII sang a beautiful solo song highlighting the years of camaraderie shared by the hostellers. The Vice-Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar, expressed her pride in the students for adapting seamlessly and performing excellently on the online platform. She congratulated them on completing the most crucial formative phase of their life and expressed her desire to see them distinguish themselves across various careers and fields. 

The Hindi Choir presented a rich and melodious performance accompanied by nostalgic images of the merry times experienced by the seniors at school and the hostel. The students of the Indian and Western Dance Societies put forth a graceful performance on a fusion song. A humorous skit was prepared and presented by students of Class XI via Zoom. Various playful, as well as serious accolades and awards, were given out to the hostel seniors by the comperes.    

The Hostel Wardens bid their beloved students a warm goodbye and wished them the best of luck for their future in a series of recorded messages. They expressed their joy at having spent a wonderful time with all the hostellers and how they will always hold a special place in their hearts. 

Finally, the Hostel Head Girls and Head Boys re-lived their bittersweet memories at the hostel and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to this great institution for being instrumental in shaping their personalities and providing them with stellar opportunities. 

The ceremony concluded with a message by the Class XIth students, who articulated their sorrow at seeing their seniors leave, and hoped that their paths would cross again in the near future. The glorious example set by them as student leaders would continue to live on in the hearts of their juniors.

TACKLING INTRICACIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY

The photography and filmmaking society of DPS R.K.Puram took part in a workshop on 24th April 2021 which targeted at tackling the intricacies regarding photography. The workshop was headed by Mr. Virendra Adhikari who is a renowned commercial photographer from Canon. He has taken part in and directed the club in the Annual Digex Photography Festival’17. The members were told about  camera techniques, the various positions and purpose of lighting and how to use the imagination to capture the perfect picture. The members were also given an in-depth explanation  about various camera lenses and their uses along with tips and tricks regarding the editing and enhancement of the pictures clicked. Mr. Virendra Adhikari emphasized on the various fields of photography including Commercial photography, product photography, street photography and much more! It was an interactive session that ended with the doubts and queries being cleared. The club incharge Ms Sarika Kaushal thanked Mr Adihari for sparing time and guiding the budding photographers of the club.

Topic- SCHOOL- A COLLECTION OF MEMORIES

The class presentation began with a morning prayer-  Itni shakti hame dena  by Ashi Rathore for seeking encouragement, peace and strength from God. Mehak expressed that together they cherish every laughter heard in school. Maanya and Tanmay expressed their joy in recalling six years spent in school followed by a doha and its meaning  by Arnab and Devina  on the occasion of Ram Navami.Drona and Tweesha thanked all those who have helped to bring the school to the screen – barrierless and obstacle less.Sanya and Kanishka expressed happiness and positivity with a thought.Raavi and krish recited a self composed poem on memories. A short speech by Mehak was given on the occasion of ram navami. An instrumental song on memories and friendship was played by Abhigyan and Karan.Card and presentation compilation was done by Mehak and Tanmay.

Class Assembly VIII-A (20-04-2021)

Topic- World Heritage Day – Our Heritage, Our Prized Possession

Our heritage and rich cultural diversity form an integral and unique part of our identities and thus, the students of Class VIII A depicted the importance of World Heritage Day through their Class Presentation.

Beginning with a beautiful invocation to Lord Ganesha by Malvika Joshi, the presentation was introduced by Shayona De followed by a melodious prayer to the Lord by Yashika Baghel. Jayesh Aggarwal and Yasha Kansotia spoke about the historical background of World Heritage Day. Thereafter, Gunika Aggarwal, Anika Bose, Jasraj Singh Marwah, Gargi Panda, Mysha Jain and Aditya Narayan Mishra presented a short role-play taking us on a virtual tour to some of the known and unknown heritage sites of the world. Parika Talwar spoke about the importance of preserving our culture and heritage through the ‘Thought for the Day’ which was reiterated by Nandika Pati’s enthralling recitation of a poem. The vote of thanks was presented by Jia Laroia. The beautiful presentation and invite were created by Shayona De and Jia Laroia with visual inputs from Ashwika Sharma, Parika Talwar and Yasha Kansotia and the technical compilation was handled by Shreeya and Shayona De.

As per the Circular No. PS/ADE/PSB/2021/1665-1670 dated 21st April 2021 from Directorate of Education, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram along with its junior Schools at Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash will be closed with effect from 22.04.2021.

Activities will start from Monday. Schedule of the activities will be put up on the school website and/or will be intimated through the school official email.
