Soaring to the Summits of Success
Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha (MVPP) Examination, conducted by the Science Branch of the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi was held on 22nd January, 2023.
The objective of this examination was to identify brilliant students with high intellect of Class IX and recognize their scientific aptitude by awarding a scholarship and a certificate to them.
Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram fosters a rich blend of holistic and futuristic education. 143 students took the exam and 58 students aced it with flying colors. Their spectacular performance in MVPP has added feathers to the achievement tally of the school. H. Jatin Vikash (IX E) has bagged the All India First Position making the school proud with his meritorious achievement.
Sushant Kumar Agarwal (IX B) and Akshat Jain (IX K) bagged the Third and Fourth ranks respectively thereby proving that DPS R.K Puram students are second to none.

KAMP hosted its certificate distribution ceremony for NASTA 2022-23 on 7th July 2023 at Delhi Public School, RK Puram. The Knowledge And Awareness Mapping Programme “KAMP” is an international intellect E-based assessment platform of 21st century skills, awareness and knowledge for science, technology and humanities among students. It is an initiative and knowledge alliance of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) – National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research and industrial partners M/S Nysa Communications Pvt. Ltd. (NCPL) and it intends to develop creativity, reading and thinking skills that bring out the inherent abilities of the students.
Prior to the commencement of the award distribution, the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan addressed the gathering. She welcomed the chief guests Mr Ashish Mittal, the Project director for KAMP, Ms. Arika Mathur, the Operation head, Mr. Dhiraj Singh Rajput, the Regional head for Delhi, and Mr. Kushal Payal, the Regional manager. She encouraged the students to participate in such events in the coming years.
The Project Director congratulated the awardees and by his speech inspired the students to explore, nurture and apply their skills. The guests presented the awards to:

The school received an award of appreciation from KAMP for being a part of NASTA-22. Ms Rashmi Malhotra, the Headmistress proposed the vote of thanks .The award distribution ceremony concluded with the national anthem.
STAFF MEETING CUM WORKSHOP ON NATIONAL CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK 2023
A staff meeting cum workshop on National Curriculum Framework 2023 was conducted on 1 July 2023 at Delhi Public School RK Puram. It was attended by the teachers from DPS RK Puram,East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar. The NCF is set to be implemented from 2024 and the education ministry has invited comments and suggestions on the draft. The committee to frame it was chaired by scientist K Kasturirangan.
The meeting began by invoking the blessings of the almighty by a prayer. This was followed by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan addressing the gathering and sharing the National Curriculum Framework with the teachers with a Powerpoint Presentation. She emphasised on the importance of being a part of this great endeavour right at the inception stage so that valuable additions can be made to the Education system.
She also said that NCF 2023 proposes to completely change the education system, claiming that the new design will enable breadth in Grades 9-10 through a broad spectrum of courses across streams, and depth in Grades 11-12 in certain areas according to students’ choice.NCF is aimed to develop a sense of self-reliance and dignity of the individual which would for the basis of social relationship and would develop a sense of nonviolence and oneness across the society. To develop a child centred approach and to promote universal enrollment and retention up to the age of 14.The NCF guiding principles aim to promote a holistic, inclusive, and skill-based education system. These principles contribute to the foundation of the NCF and guide the development of education policies and practices in India.
The workshop concluded by the Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani,Mr Anil Kathuria ,Mr Mukesh Kumar and Ms Rashmi Malhotra Headmistress Classes IX and X addressing the teachers and speaking about the importance of the role of teachers in a student’s life. This was followed by brunch for the teachers.Meetings were conducted by the department heads for their respective departments and by the vice principals for the class teachers of all the Classes.
9TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA
Delhi Public School RK Puram celebrated the 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June 2023.Yoga is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage.It is a 5,000-year old tradition from India that combines physical, mental and spiritual pursuits to achieve harmony of the body and mind. On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. The declaration came at the behest of the Indian Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi during his address to the UN General Assembly on September 27, 2014 wherein he stated: “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature”. In suggesting June 21, which is the Summer Solstice, as the International Day of Yoga, Mr Narendra Modi had said: “the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.” This year the theme of the Yoga day is Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbaka effectively encapsulating our collective aspiration for ‘One Earth, One Family, and One Future.’
Students of Delhi Public School RK Puram took an oath to integrate yoga into their lives to achieve a sound body and mind.Under the able guidance of the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan. The Vice Principal Mr Anil Kathuria and Mr Suresh, Head of the Physical Education department took the oath with the students which said,“I take a pledge to integrate yoga in my life by practising yoga regularly with my family and friends also encouraging them to adopt yoga for a healthy lifestyle. I take a pledge that I will practice yoga only under trained and knowledgeable Yoga teachers recognised by reputed and registered institutions.”
Visit cum Workshop at National Crafts Museum
The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities and had an enriching experience of various Art forms demonstrated by the Local Artisans from Kutch (Pottery),Jodhpur (Block Printing), Madhubani (Bihar) and Miniature painting (Bikaner).
The students were enthralled and motivated with the presence of Principal Ma’am,Ms Padma Srinivasan on the first day of the workshop.
A curatorial walk of the museum was also organized wherein the students gained knowledge about the rare and distinctive collectibles and artifacts reflecting the continuing tradition of Indian craftsmen through painting, embroidery, textiles, various crafts of clay, stone,wood, ornaments, utensils and puppets.
Ms Nidhi,Deputy Director,National Crafts Museum extended her whole hearted contribution in conducting the above activities.
The school Art teachers Mr Amit Rajput,Ms Jatinder Kaur and Mr Shiven Singh Tanwar accompanied the students for the workshop.
Children’s Social Conclave on G20 competition (2023)
अयं निजः परोवेति गणना लघुचेतसाम्
उदारचरितानां तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्॥
Gandhi Smriti,Darshan Samiti & Action committee unaided recognised private schools organised Children’s Social Conclave on G20 held on May 6, 2023, to foster understanding of the theme of India’s G20 Presidency among school students and inspire them to think of actionable Programmes and Projects. The theme of the discussion was “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family, One Future.” This Children’s Social Conclave had participation from 69 schools. Under the guidance of the Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan, the students of Delhi Public School, Ram Krishna Puram also took part in this competition and secured first position. The presentation commenced with sanskrit shlok and dance which expressed the meaning of vasudhaiv kutumbakam. After that speech was given through posters on the given topic.The poster has been made with an old cardboard box and old fabric banner installed on an iron frame.Small pieces of leftover cardboard have been pasted to make details of the relief work such as fish scales,clothes,spots on deer,eyes,grass,leaves etc.The Earth has been shown in green and blue as usual representing the land and aquatic bodies. The fish and the deer represent the marine and animal life on the earth which inhabit and survive along with the humans coexisting together peacefully thus establishing the idea of One-family. The two children carry the idea of preservation with the girl holding a dove in her hand and the boy holding a flower representing the protection of life and nature as our moral duty towards one healthy and bright future.The board also raises the ideas and concerns towards the prevailing issues,social and environmental that are required to be addressed to make the whole world a better place to live
The Sanskrit shlok was presented by Anika Goyal of class X-C, the dance was performed by Plaksha Devshi of class XI-W, speech was delivered by Vinayak Gaur of class XII-O and Anika Goyal of class X-C. The aesthetic artwork and design was by Vanya Rajput XII-W and Diya of class XI-T. The programme concluded with the sanskrit shlok and dance which express the relevance of the topic in today’s world.
CUP OF NOIR WITH A SPOONFUL OF WORDS
Cup of Noir with a Spoonful of Words’ is an anthology of poems and stories written by Samriddhi and Samiya Bhatia. The sisters born and brought up in New Delhi, are students of Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram. They both worked on the poems during the lockdown and got the book published in March 2023. Samiya is a student from the Batch of 2023 and Samriddhi is a student of class IX-M. They have both been active in the school’s literary community- Samiya as the President of Literati and Samriddhi as an avid participant in school competitions. The book is an expression of emotions that somehow don’t get translated as well in normal conversations through poetry and literature.
SUMMER BREAK WORKSHOP FOR MUSIC AND DANCE
Day 2
THE WESTERN VOCAL session was conducted by Mr Sothingam Shaiza on 30 May 2023, The students recapitulated the topics they had learned on day 1, and their doubts were clarified. After that, Mr Sothingam Shaiza explained the various dynamics ( loudness and softness) of music. He demonstrated how it could be applied in singing and how much impact it can make on a song. The students were then encouraged to try singing a couple of vocal warm-ups and technical exercises with the various dynamics aligned to them. A medley of 5 different songs was taught and also applied the various dynamics they learned today. Few of the students showcased their talent towards the end. The workshop ended with a brief introduction of the topics to be discussed and the songs to be covered in the next workshop. Mr Sothingam also encouraged them to write a short note on how helpful/beneficial the workshop is for them and read it out in the next session.
Western Instrumental: BREAKOUT! Was Conducted by Mr Leimi Kashung.There were 15 participants in today’s session. During the session, a few students were asked to choose their favourite songs to lead the whole band. At first, it seemed challenging due to differences of opinions, but they were then explained some of the basic rules and ethics of being part of a band/orchestra- stating the importance of musical communication and a reference point (such as rhythm pattern, tempo, chords progression, etc.) amongst the team members. It concluded having learnt a piece called Come September by Billy Vaughn. Even though a few students were complete beginners, they surely learnt some basic important components of musical instruments.
Folk Dance: Mr. Ashok Singh Miral Mayurbhanj Chhau was the teacher who conducted the workshop on Folk Dance In the workshop, first half an hour the students did some warm-up exercises. Then the students were individually asked to show the various dance steps that they had learned on Day 1. Mr Ashok Singh Miral himself danced with the students and taught them how to integrate dance movements with music. Further dance steps like palta, chatta etc were also taught. All the queries that the students had were clarified. The children were extremely enthusiastic and eager to have more such workshops in future.
Indian Instruments: Mr Salim Kumar and Mr Kuldeep Mishra took the Indian instrumental session of the workshop. They learned Sargam on Harmonium and Sitar and also learned the ‘hope’ song based on life. They were also taught the basic information of the taal, and how to create beats on a clap box. Students are now able to play the clap-box with the song- Aashayein
Indian Vocal– Mr. Suman Kalyan Sangiri was in charge of the Indian vocal session. Today 2 students were present for Indian Vocal. First half an hour they practiced different alankars with Sudh swar, Komal swar, and Tibra swar. Students then prepared a motivational song using various Taan and Alap.

Day 3
WESTERN VOCAL: Mr Sothingam Shaiza conducted the western vocal workshop on 31May 2023. The workshop began by singing some vocal warm ups and through a quick recap of the songs and the topics covered the previous days. The students were then introduced to a couple of new songs. The students also shared their experiences of the workshop. Each one of them shared positive feedback and look forward to more workshops like this in the future. The students then showcased their talent turn by turn by singing their favorite songs. Our school Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan encouraged the students by visiting the venues . The students performed the song they had learned the previous day. Towards the end, doubts were clarified and the workshop was wrapped up with words of encouragement.
Western Instrumental: BREAKOUT was conducted by Leimi Kashung
There were 12 participants. We continued learning an instrumental piece and we could learn the complete piece. The students expressed their enthusiasm and wished the sessions were longer. Towards the end, there was a team talk and reflection of what they had learnt in the workshop. Many of them explained that they had learnt the importance of coordination, patience, tolerance and performance. On being asked to rate the whole workshop experience, most of them rated it as a 10/10 and expressed their contentment. The session came to an end with an expression of gratitude to our Principal, teachers on duty, coordinators and also the students who showed up with enthusiasm.
Indian Instruments was conducted by Mr. Salim Kumar and Mr. Kuldeep Mishra .The students were taught the hope song ‘Ashayen’. They were also taught how to play the clap box with the song. The students present showcased their performance in front of the principal as well, and were encouraged for the same.
Indian Vocal workshop was conducted by Mr. Suman Kalyan Sangiri . First half an hour they practiced different alankars with Sudh swar, Komal swar, and Tibra swar. Students then prepared a motivational song using various Taan, Alap and Harmony with instrumental music.
Workshop on Folk Dance was conducted by Mr. Ashok Singh Miral Mayurbhanj Chhau
The first half an hour the students did some warm up exercises. Then the students were individually asked to show the various dance steps that they had learned on day 1 and day 2. Mr. Ashok Singh Miral clarified all the queries that the students had. The children were told their positioning and the entire choreographed piece was rehearsed. The dance was shown to Principal maam and she appreciated the students for showing their enthusiasm for learning a new art form. Ma’am also motivated and encouraged the students to participate in more of such activities which would be organised by the school in future. The workshop successfully ended by taking feedback from the students .
