Winners AAINA 2020

The Students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi public school R.K Puram participated in ‘AAINA 2020’ organised by St. Xavier’s Sr. Sec. School on 23rd January 2020.The students performed an impactful Street play on the topic –‘SOCH Nazariya nahi ek naquab’ and secured the Third position. Anamika Singh of XI-X received the Best Actor award.

Cambridge Soliloquy Villians Of The Bard

Yashna Rustagi (XI-E) of the Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram participated in ‘Villains of the Bard’, an enactment of Shakespeare’s dramatic monologue at ‘Image 2019: Sanrakshan’ organised by Cambridge school-Noida  on 29th November 2019.She played the role of Iago from the play Othello and secured the First position.

International Finance And Global Economics Olympiad 2020

Delhi Public School, R K Puram lifted the 2nd Runners up trophy of  ‘International Finance Olympiad’ and ‘Global Economics Olympiad 2020’. Neasha Mittal of X E, Bhavya Lakhina of 10H, Aaditya Gupta of 11P and Japneesh Singh of 12N were awarded a cash prize of Rs twenty thousand as a team on 25th January 2020.

Our Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 Awardees

Sagnik Anupam and Tanish Goel of DPS RK Puram have been awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2020 .As a part of the  award, they have  received a certificate, a citation, a cash award of Rs. 1,00,000, and a tablet. They  received the award from the Honourable President of India at a ceremony at the Darbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan on 22 January 2020. They were  also felicitated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India at his residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, and interacted with the Honorable Minister of Women and Child Development. They were  also a part of the Republic Day parade on 26 January 2020 in New Delhi.

Sagnik Anupam has got the award for developing a machine-learning model that can predict water levels up to four days in advance for the Brahmani-Baitarani river basin in Odisha. For his project, he used rainfall and river discharge data from the past 40 years to train his model to predict water levels and created a cloud-computing based web app to run simulations. Combining data from satellite images and other sources, he has developed a sub-district level flood vulnerability index to help early evacuation. His early-warning system is highly generalizable and can also be used on other river systems to help flood-prone areas around the world. Recognizing his contributions to science, he has been selected as a member of the Junior Academy of the highly-acclaimed New York Academy of Sciences. Sagnik has also won laurels for India at many different international and national competitions. He was a part of the contingent for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2018, held at Pittsburgh, USA. As a part of a team, he has also won a First Award in the Grade 11 Large Team category of the NASA Ames Space Settlement Design Contest 2018 and was a finalist at the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge 2017, held at Orlando, USA. He was also a member of India’s first team to compete at the International Youth Physicists’ Tournament, held in Beijing, China, in 2018

Tanish was awarded the Bal Shakti Puraskar in the category of innovation .He  was recognized for creating a machine learning algorithm which autonomously detected emotions based on facial expressions and speech with a team of college students in a research internship (The only high school student out of 350 college students); for winning the NASA Goddard award at the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge, with a team of 3 . He  became a junior member at the New York Academy of Sciences, where  he worked on a Lunar Space Settlement project with a global team (6 members from 4 countries and 5 cities).

We wish both Anupam and Tanish the best in all future endeavours and may they scale even greater heights in the years to come.

District Level Toppers -Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform(KAMP)

Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform(KAMP)– an initiative of CSIR- National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), intended to identify and capture Scientific and Technological temperament in students . NASTA Exam was conducted on January 27,2020 and January 28, 2020 .

 

134 students from our school of grade 5th to 10th, appeared  for  NATIONAL ASSESSMENT FOR SCIENTIFIC TEMPERAMENT AND APTITUDE “NASTA”. The subjects included Science, EVS /Social Science, Mathematics, Digital Literacy/IT. In this exam 6 students secured District Ranks and 22 students got an  A+ Grade.

Khelo India Youth Games 2020 (Assam) – Lawn Bowl

The Khelo India Youth Games 2020 were held at Guwahati (Assam) from 10th to 22nd January 2020. Sixteen state teams participated under the sport Lawn Bowls. Six of our school students represented Delhi and won Silver medal under two event categories.

Junior National Taekwondo Championship 2019

Samaira Mohapatra had participated in 34th ITF Taekwondo National Junior Championships held at Goa on 28 Dec 2019.  She won a Bronze Medal. She is a black stripe holder.

Felicitation of our Principal with the 2019 Global Human Rights Protection Award

On the occasion of the 20th World Human Rights Day, the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal was felicitated with the prestigious 2019 Global Human Rights Protection Award at the 20th Human Rights Congress organized by the Indian Institute of Human Rights at India International Centre on 10 December 2019. The award was received on her behalf by Ms Rupa Das and Dr. Atika Dayal, Heads of the Department of Geography and English respectively along with four students.

The Human Rights Congress was presided over by Dr Rahul Rai, Director of the  Indian Institute of Human Rights. The award was also conferred on Mrs Judith K K Kan’goma- Kapijimpanga High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia; Major General Mr Chris Sunday Eze (Rtd.) High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; and Mr Amadou Ndene Ndoye, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Senegal and Principals from other schools. In their acceptance speeches, the human rights dignitaries emphasised on the strong link between democracy and human rights, stating how the two are interconnected and went hand in hand. They highlighted the need to eradicate stereotypes and bring in a new paradigm of equality for all, regardless of race, religion or socio-economic status.

Qwizzards of Oz

The quest for knowledge, like everything else of value, is not to be obtained easily. It must be worked for, studied for, thought for, and more than that must be prayed for. To encourage the students to widen their knowledge on the English language DPS Mathura Road had organized Inter DPS  Quiz Competition on 8 December 2019. Two students from each school from classes VI to VIII participated in the competition.  Aadya Kashyap  and  Aarav Shrivastava  of  VIII C from DPS RK Puram stood second.

Winners Sanskrit Debate Competition

Delhi Sanskrit Academy organised various competitions at the Zonal Level. Many schools of South-West Zone participated in the event. Maanya Sareen (X-J) and Parth Kumar (IX-K) participated in the Sanskrit Debate Competition and secured the 1st position.
