The students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School, RK Puram were awarded the First prize in the ‘Harmony and Eco Fest’ conducted at the ‘MTNL Perfect Health Mela’ at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. There were around 3000 students participating in various events and Heart Care Foundation of India and Dept. of Health and FW Govt. of NCT Delhi jointly with various Central and Delhi state govt departments. The team participated in the National Inter -School Stage Play Competition on 18th October They presented an outdoor skit on the topic ‘Hamlet and Harm Reduction’.
Second Prize ‘Trishna Act – The Columban
The Students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi public school R.K Puram participated in “The Columban event “organised by St. Columbus which took place on 19th October 2019. In a competition with 16 schools, they performed a gripping and really impactful street play focussing on social evils. They secured second position in “Trishna act” and were highly appreciated for their amazing performance.

The team participated in the National Inter -School Street Play Competition on 19th October They presented a Nukkad Natak on the topic ‘Alcohol and Harm Reduction’.
Scholar Badge Ceremony Class VIII

The Annual Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class VIII was organised by DPS R K Puram on 18th of October, 2019. The efforts of the students were celebrated through a spectacular programme that was graced by the presence of Ms. Namita Pradhan. Ms. Pradhan is a member of the DPS Society who has over 30 years of experience in development with extensive understanding of International Health. She has also been an integral part of the World Health Organisation, Geneva.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal; the Chief Guest, Ms. Namita Pradhan; the Vice Principals, Ms. Padma Srinivasan and Dr. Renu Nayar,and the Head Mistresses Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and Ms. Niva Chhonkar. This was followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest.A mesmerising performance by the orchestra and a choir welcomed the audience to this celebration.This was followed by a film showcasing glimpses into momentous events and school achievements over the year.
The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, welcomed the parents and students with memorable anecdotes to attest the theme of the event ‘Better Late Than Never’. She confided in the audience that students are her greatest motivation and quoted Paulo Coelho to say “People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of.” She emphasized that the value of a student is not in the awards that they receive but in the hard work they put in. She urged the audience to overcome their prejudices and embrace opportunities as they arrive because it is never too late to become better human beings. She conveyed her gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event through their effort.
The cultural programme saw a melodious performance by the Indian choir, followed by a powerful English choral recitation and Hindi play which beautifully brought out the environmental problems the world is facing today and how individuals can deal with them at their level.The participants of the event celebrated life through a zealous Western dance performance and a Shubh Aarambh Dance.
Ms. Namita Pradhan addressed the gathering and commended the students on their magnificent performances. Reminiscing about her past, she recognised this stage of a students’ life as a crucial step into adulthood. She emphasised on the abundance of opportunities available to this generation and encouraged them to seize these opportunities and be passionate about everything they do. She concluded her address by stating the importance of what we give to society rather than what we get.
The prize distribution, the most eagerly awaited segment of the ceremony was initiated by Ms. Reema Khosla. The students were felicitated for their academic and co-curricular excellence with red and blue blazers. A vote of thanks was delivered by the Headmistress, Ms. Niva Chhonkar. The event concluded with the National Anthem
Prarthana Chona’s ‘Poesy Of Intention’
Prarthana Chona a budding writer of DPS RK Puram got her first book ‘Poesy of Intention’ published on 18 October 2019. This book deals with the complexities that are concerned with human life and are figuratively and subjectivity worded in context to the poet’s mind. A lot of these poems deal with contemporary emotions and problems.
Winners Annual Inter School Language Festival “La Feria- 2019
DPS society organized its Annual Inter School Language Festival titled “La Feria- 2019”. The event was hosted by DPS International, Saket on Friday, 18th October, 2019. Samiya Bhatiya, Aarnav Gupta, Aneesha Gupta, Vaibhav Sareen Mehra of IX M and Ishita Bhargava of IX L secured the 2nd runner up in the Musical Drama. Naysa Punhani bagged the 1st position and The Trophy in Character de Facto. Krishank of IX G bagged the 2nd runner up in the art event “Painting”. In the non-competitive event “Talent show- Song” Myra Sahunja, Faina Bhandari, Aarjav Mehndiratta & Aarushi Kapur of IX M secured 2nd position and were requested to repeat the performance.
Winners Ads Act-DPS Dwarka
The students of Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram participated in “Ads Act event” at ‘The Annual Fest’ organised by DPS Dwarka on 12th October 2019. The students presented an attractive and comical ad on the topic “Tomato Ketchup Toothpaste” and convinced the audience to buy their product easily. The team of 4 students secured the first position
Winners of ‘Ignite’
The students of DPS RKPuram participated in the ‘Ignite’, an interschool Science festival at DPS Dwarka held on 11th and 12th October,2019. Ayan Hidol and Anuj Kothari of XII C participated in the event called “Times Up” which was a test of intelligence and alertness in solving a biological problem. The students of our school bagged first position and won a Gold Medal.Ishika Jain and Aprajita Kale of XII D participated in an event named “ Doagnostix”. The students applied their knowledge of Biology to diagnose a disease on the basis of given cryptic clues. The students won the second prize in the event. It was an engaging and interesting competition.

Twice The Twist
Ameya Aneja, a student of class VII J of DPS RK Puram has authored her first book titled “Twice the Twist”. It is a mystery/adventure story for the age group 7-12 years. Besides writing, Ameya likes to play the piano and is a budding Kathak dancer. She has represented the school at various Table Tennis tournaments. Besides having an excellent academic record, she actively participates in all school activities.
