Topic : “JOY TO THE WORLD”

The real joy of Christmas is giving without a thought of getting and being kinder to one another. We can give peace, love and hope to the world, only if we have them within us.

Keeping this message in mind, the Class Assembly of Classes VII -H and VII -I started with a heartfelt prayer sung by Reanna Batra, Rianna Sachdev, Maahi Somvanshi, Anaisha Kakkar, Zayan Ali Khan, Aatreyi Singh, Arjun Kanwar (Tabla), Aavya Shrivastava, Arundhati, Agni Pratap (Tabla) and Siddharth Modi. Then the Headmistress, Ms. Vinita Gupta welcomed everyone and led them with the morning prayer. This was followed by Ganesh Vandana gracefully performed by Giaa Bhatia, Vihaana Dogra, Navya Taneja, Aanya Gupta, Aanya Agarwal, Ananya Malhotra, Vani Menon and Ritika Sharma. Then Ananya Malhotra beautifully recited the Shloka followed by Maayrra Arora giving the meaning of it. The Thought of the Day was given by Afraaz Tariq and Aanya Yadav. It was a self composed thought by Aavya Shrivastava. The news headlines for the day were read by Adrian Tannuj and Yuvaan Mangla.

Thereafter, a thought-evoking play titled ‘Sadachaar Jeevan ka Aadhaar’ was performed by Aavya Shrivastava, Gaurika Chopra, Samarth Bansal, Atulya Agarwal, Shifa Khanam, Medhansh Chotrani and Nanya Gupta. It was followed by a graceful contemporary dance by Anika Tyagi, Navya Kalra, Aarav Yadav, Saanvi Mahajan, Arya Chatrath, Aarna Anand, Aarvi Prakash, Adrian Tannuj, Mannan Arora, Sabal Ramjita, Aditya Lal, Aryan Arora, Anuvrat Gupta, Ishaan Arora, Suhaani Bhola, Ananya Malhotra, Arhaan Sharma, Vanshika Gehlot, Aarush Monga, Ritika Sharma and Aanya Yadav. As Christmas cannot be complete without carols, so Carols were joyfully sung by Anaisha Kakkar, Reanna Batra, Rianna Sachdev, Zayan Ali Khan, Ishaan Raikwar, Maayrra Arora, Viraaj Dhamija, Gaurika Chopra, Samarth Bansal, Aatreyi Singh, Atiksh Bansal, Ishaan Trivedi, Divij Jain, Showaiz Noor Ahmed, Medhansh Chotrani, Amogh Singh, Vihaan Madhukar, Rakshit Tokas, Ananya Goyal, Arundhati Pradhan, Zoravar Sachdeva, Reyansh Jain, Ridhaan Saini, Siddharth Modi, Varun Jain and the musical instruments were played by Maahi Somvanshi (Ukulele), Mehveer Singh Grover (Keyboard), Arhaan Sharma (Guitar), Aaryav Seth (Guitar) and Agni Pratap. Aditya Lal added more joy to the Carols by his amazing beatboxing. Thereafter, the energy of the stage was taken a notch higher by a Bhangra dance on the tunes of Jingle Bells performed by Aavya Shrivastava, Anika Tyagi, Vihaana Dogra, Mehveer Singh Grover, Aanya Agarwal, Vani Menon and Meghna Sen.

The comperes of the programme were Nikunj, Nanya Gupta, Vani Menon and Ragini Singh. Last but not the least, the Santa Claus for the Program were Ishaan Arora and Jai Dular.

Assembly XI-G & XI-H (20-12-2022)

Topic : “To enjoy true happiness, all you need is a grateful heart.

Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. It is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s a spark that leads to combustion yielding joy in your soul, peace for today and vision for tomorrow as products. Being thankful is the beginning of gratitude though it may consist merely of words.

The assembly commenced with the prayer “Ye matt kaho Khuda se meri mushkilein badi hai” sung by Akul, Adhyan, Pratulya, Avi, Harit, Manya, Naisha, Saksham Didi, Mudit Sinha, Navey Puri, Jia Malik, Pihu Agrawal, Piyush Baweja, Purbasha Roy, Yoovan Pattnaik, Vedant Krish Shanker, Lakshya Saini, Swapnil Deep, Avneesh Gupta, Tanish Bhardwaj, Sadhika Bhatia, Aarshia Kumar, Avneet Kaur Sandhu, Bhavya Verma and Kaamyaa Negi. This was followed by a mesmerizing instrumental performance by Aadibhav, Shaurya Gambhir, Bhawaansh, Jupman, Vinayak Bajaj and Rishabh Kathuria. 

Then there was a mellifluous melody of Christmas carols sung by Aprameyya Garg, Amogh Dubey, Lovyansh Chowdhry, Jia Malik, Shreeya V Nair, P V Rama Krishna Prasad, Aryan, Aashna, Harit, Manan, Manu along with Pratyush Vempati on the keyboard and Sahil Anand on the Guitar. After this there was a shloka recitation by Durlabh Biswas and its English & Hindi translation by Aarshia Kumar & Joditya. Next was an energetic classical dance by Shreeya V Nair, Shivangi, Ihita and Gaurvi. This was followed by thought for the day by Avneet Kaur Sandhu & Shitij, News by Saksham Didi, Nikunj Agarwal, Abhas and Manvendra,  Self-composed poetry by Pratyush and Pihu Agrawal, Melodious theme song by Aprameyya Garg, Amogh Dubey, Lovyansh Chowdhry, Jia Malik, Shreeya V Nair, P V Rama Krishna Prasad, Aryan, Aashna, Harit, Manan and Manu. This was followed by the eloquent speeches by Dhananjay Bhattacharya, Tanvi Kapoor, Pratyush Vempati, Akshita, Arsh and Pratyush. The assembly was concluded with lively and joyful western dance performances by Aashna, Naisha, Sannidhya, Manu, Bhawaansh, Aayush Sharma, Jashith Kumar and Lovyansh Chowdhry.

GREEN SCHOOL INITIATIVE ON AIR POLLUTION

A Guest Speaker Programme on Air Pollution and its hazards was organised in Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on Tuesday, 29 November 2022 for the students of Classes VII and VIII. The Guest Speakers for the programme were Dr Randeep Guleria, a renowned Pulmonologist and the former Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Professor Vartika Mathur, the Head of the Department of Zoology, Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi. 

The programme was organised under the able guidance of the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan and with the support of the Headmistress, Ms Vinita Gupta, Headmistress, Classes VI-VIII. It was a part of the Green School Initiative, a flagship program in association with Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi and AIIMS, New Delhi.

The programme commenced by introducing the eminent guests to the audience followed by their felicitation by the Principal. Then the Principal addressed the gathering and spoke about how the school was honoured to have Dr Randeep Guleria and Professor Vartika Mathur as the guest speakers for the event. The Principal’s address was followed by an address by Professor Vartika Mathur, who elaborated about the Green School Programme which started in 2016 and how it has been instrumental in spreading environmental awareness to more than 37,000 school students. 

Thereafter, Dr Randeep Guleria addressed and sensitised the students on air pollution and its health hazards since air pollution is one of the most worrying concerns that has been plaguing the environment for a long time, especially in our city. Dr Guleria spoke about the various important terms associated with air pollution and elaborated on its causes and effects with the aid of a vivid presentation. He also explained about the various types of pollutants and how we can involve our family and friends to take steps towards preventing this pollution. The session was quite interactive with the students putting forth their numerous queries regarding the topic and Dr Guleria patiently answering them. 

This was followed by an interactive quiz conducted by the student volunteers of Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, which prompted the students to not only engage with the topic but also motivated them through the interesting rewards which were given by the student volunteers. 

The session culminated with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Headmistress of Classes VI-VIII, Ms Vinita Gupta, who thanked the esteemed guests, Dr Guleria and Professor Mathur along with their team, for sparing their valuable time and enlightening the students and teachers alike on this extremely pertinent issue. She also thanked the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan for her continuous guidance and encouragement along with Ms Dimple Menon, Activity Incharge for the Eco Club, for facilitating the programme.  

The programme was an immense success and it not only educated the students about air pollution and its health hazards but also motivated them to take some serious steps to curb this, in order to create a sustainable and pollution-free environment for us and our future generations.

MUSINGS OF A GENZ

It all started with Aarav Mangla’s  self composed poems handwritten on a handmade card by his sister for special family occasions like birthdays & anniversaries .The love and appreciation this gesture received acted as a catalyst & further encouraged him  to pen down random reflections about people, relationships, social activities into short poems.His English subject teacher, family and friends cheered each and every effort and motivated him to participate in poetry competitions. His work was noticed and soon he had a diary filled with poetic expressions called ‘My Records in Rhyme’ He decided to get his poetry published .MUSINGS OF A GENZ

Aarav Mangla is a 12th grade science student of DPS RK Puram, who aspires to be a computer engineer in future. He has been an academic achiever and played football for the school team as well as trained under BARCA ACADEMY. What started as a loving gesture of self composed wishes on special days of family members, gradually turned into a personal space of thoughtful reveries on current affairs, existing social issues, and human relationships.and he was ready to publish his first book. He even completed an online course by California Institute of the Arts to

expand his understanding of poetry as an art. He has participated in various national open age poem writing contests & bagged appreciation certificates . Few of his poems got published in different school magazines as well

THE G. BHASKAR MEMORIAL LECTURE AND AWARD CEREMONY 2022

The G. Bhaskar Memorial lecture and award ceremony was organised on 20th December 2022 at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram in remembrance of G. Bhaskar, a very promising student, who joined the institution in class VIII. Lost in the crowd initially, Venkata Subramaniam Bhaskar slowly and steadily made a place in the hearts of his fellow students and teachers. An extremely talented and hardworking student, not only did he excel in academics, but he was also a great badminton player and played for the school table tennis team. He also had formal training in Classical Carnatic music and could recite several chapters from Shrimad Bhagwat Gita. Unfortunately, his success ended with his early demise. In his memory, DPS RK Puram has been organising an inspirational lecture since 1995 in presence of his family and friends. Since 1999, an  award has been instituted in his loving memory  by his parents. This award is given to exceptional students, who not only excel in academics and co-curricular activities but also display a strong moral fibre. 

The Principal, Ms.Padma Srinivasan; the Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, G. Bhaskar’s father, Mr. Ganapati Raman and brother, Mr. Ramnath G. along with other family members were present during the ceremony. The ceremony began with a minute of silence observed in the honour of G. Bhaskar. This year, Shri Dasa Raghunatha from ISKCON was invited for the memorial lecture, who has been working as an educationist with children and young adults for the past several years. Mr Raghunatha Das is the head of the Iluminate Program of the Spandan Society. A chemical engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, he has worked with Continental India, a German based Multinational Corporation, and was also the Operations Head of Indian Oil Corporation. He has been a Monk since 2016 with the intent of serving humanity through spirituality and taking our fast moving society towards a metamorphic life philosophy.

 Mr. Ramnath, the elder brother of G. Bhaskar shared his most precious  memories, especially the time spent with Bhaskar. On this occasion, the Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan emphasised on the all round development and importance of humanity in each and every human being. She also asked the students to become more empathetic and compassionate to the needs of the others. Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Vice Principal, DPS RK Puram, shared how he remembers G Bhaskar’s always smiling demeanour and his outstanding ability to connect with one and all. Ms. Shalini Harisukh and Ms. Kusum Yadav coordinated the event along with Activity Incharges Ms. Abha Chona and Ms. Kaveri Dhar.

Two meritorious students were recipients of the G. Bhaskar Memorial Award 2022. 

AGASTYA NATHAgastya’s academic journey in Delhi Public School Vasant Vihar and RK Puram has been a glorious one. A scholar badge awardee, he received a gold medal this year for being a meritorious student all through. He secured 96% marks in Grade XI with Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. Agastya’s determination and commitment towards studies or any other task that’s assigned to him is exemplary. His gentle, kind and compassionate nature makes him an endearing child. 
SOMYA SRIVASTAVASomya’s perseverance and steely determination has proved that hard work always paves the way to success. A scholar badge awardee, she received a gold medal this year for being a meritorious student all through. She has been the section topper in Class XI and secured 93% marks with Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science. Winning the ‘Chita Acharya’ Award for 1st Distinction in the 7th Year of Annual Art Examinations held by Calcutta Talent Search School, she harbors a deep passion for art. She has worked with the All India Foundation of Deaf Women in an attempt to help underprivileged young girls uncover technology. Somya is fond of Competitive Programming and envisions a future in the IT field. 

Mr. Ramnath, Mr. Ganapati Raman, the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, and Mukesh Kumar presented the awards. 

The Bhaskar family members gave their blessings to all students present there, and distributed sweets as a token of their love and appreciation to one and all.

Assembly VI-A & VI-B (15-12-2022)

Topic : “Farmer’s Day ( कृषको दिवसः )”

“Once in your life you need a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman and a preacher, but every day, three times a day, you need a farmer.”

In India, Farmer’s Day is celebrated on 23rd of December, to mark the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, who was a prominent kisan leader and contributed for the betterment of Indian farmers. It is for their hard work and relentless effort that we enjoy having fresh fruits and vegetables in today’s life.

The assembly commenced by remembering the almighty and began with the morning prayer, which was sung by Vanshika, Mahek, Rai Kishori, Shreya, Pragati, Pankhuri, Tanishka, Aanya, Vibha, Kripa, Niharika, Abhigyan, Shaurya, Yogesh, Rayal and Parth .It was followed by a very traditional and elegant dance on “Ganesh Vandana” which was performed by Shreya Agarwal of class 6A. The thought for the day was given by Kanav Lall And Raghav Baisoya. The news of the day was given by Diksha, Kushagra, Adyan and Prisha of VI B respectively. After that, a very articulate speech on farmers was given by Yug Choudhary and Arjun Chadha of VI B which incorporated various shlokas in Sanskrit.

Following the speeches, a very entertaining and informative play on the difficult lives led by farmers took place. The story was narrated by Ansh and Jeenesh.The script of the play was written by Aryavrat of class VI A.The actors, Ranganath, Abhinav, Abhir, Aryavrat, Apurva, M.Bhargav and Suryansh Chadha of class VI A and VI B enthralled us with the play. After that, a fascinating dance of Pongal by  the dancers Rai Kashori, Ridhi, Mahek, Disha, Vanshika, Pankhuri, Zoya, Sakshi, Lakshita, Mahima and Pratyusha. It was followed by a poem in Hindi on ‘Sangharsh’ which was recited by Divij Choradia of class 6A. After that, a song on the importance of farmers was sung by Pragati, Pankhuri, Shreya, Rai Kishori, Vanshika, Mahek, Yogesh, Abhigyan, Shaurya, Rayal, Niharika, Vibha, Parth, Kripa and Tanishka.. It was followed by the School and National Anthem sung by all the students.The exquisite invitations and folders were made by Astha Agarwal(VI B) and Shriya Mishra (VI A).The board work was done by Astha, Sakshi, Rajveer and Pihu. The technical work was done by Archit and Swastik of Class 6B and Karthik Makirddy of class VI A. The comperes were M. Bhargav, Kripa, Suryansh Chadha of 6B and Kushagra Singh of VI A.

Topic : “Human Rights Day- Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All”

Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. In words of Mother Teresa, “Human rights are not a privilege conferred by the government. They are every human being’s entitlement by virtue of his humanity.”

To celebrate ‘Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All’ and invoke humanity within ourselves, Classes VIII E and VIII F came together for their Class Assembly on ‘Human Rights Day’. It began with an ardent prayer to the Lord by Aarav Anand, Ahaan Chopra, Attharv Sachin Vijan, Dhairya Pawa, Hargun Kaur, Khushi Verma, Mohd Atif Yousuf Khan, Rudransh, Subham, Yana Mehra, Vaishnavi, Adit Agarwal, Adarsh Jha, Aryaveer Gianchand, Pallavi Singh, Pavanaj Kohli, Siddhant Sadanand Kapur, Viraj Kumar, Aamir Shahedi, Amit Kumar, Ishita Saikia, Aarav Mehra, Drishti, Harshil Arora, Jai Singh, Mrinank Dey, Shaurya Bhardwaj, Tanmaayy Chhabra, Vivaan Tiwary and Daksh Manchanda. This was followed by the recitation of the Sanskrit Shlok and its meaning by Amit Kumar and Pratyusha Bhatt. A beautiful fusion of the Bharatanatyam with western music was then presented by Aradhana Prakash Ranjan and Sannidhi Singh. The news bulletin was read by Aashi Singh, Sanna Sehgal, Shreeaansh, Pavanaj Kohli and Viraj Kumar. The thoughts for the day were expressed by Yog Vardhan Maitrey, Lakshit, Kavnoor Kaur and Meet Arora.

Thereafter, a mime performance was presented by Adarsh Jha, Aryaveer Gianchand, Attharv Sachin Vijan, Hargun Kaur, Kartik Kashyap, Kashika Senthil, Kavnoor Kaur, Khushbu, Mansi Sahni, Mohd Amaan Aziz, Pavanaj Kohli, Viraj Kumar, Pratyusha Bhatt, Reyanssh Vohra, Rinhlua Chawngthu, Rudransh, Siddhant Sadanand Kapur, Subham, Tamira Agnihotri, Varnika Manlothiya, Vivaan Sehwag, Yana Mehra, Meet Arora, Mohammad Azeem Uddin, Mrinank Dey, Shaurya Bhardwaj, Harshil Arora, Tanmaayy Chhabra, Myra Mehta, Vivaan Tiwary, Nauman Hasan, MD Armaan Firdousi, Daksh Manchanda, Aarav Mehra, Soubhik Giri, Sujal Kumar Jena, Vansh, Yog Vardhan Maitrey, Agrima Verma, Aarifa Ali, Keya Srivastava and Aashi Singh to see how people have struggled over the years to attain their rights. It was followed by two self-composed poems recited by Kamakshi Dogra and Varnika Manlothiya about the importance of human rights.

A fusion dance performance was presented by Aradhana Prakash Ranjan, Pallavi Singh, Rudransh Kaushik, Vansh Kanojiya, Drishti, Sannidhi Singh, Ronit Gupta and Sahil Rai. The concluding act was a soulful group song performed by Aarav Anand, Ahaan Chopra, Attharv Sachin Vijan, Dhairya Pawa, Hargun Kaur, Khushi Verma, Mohd Atif Yousuf Khan, Amit Kumar, Ishita Saikia, Shaurya Bhardwaj and Aarav Mehra.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Mohd Amaan Aziz. The comperes of the programme were Manaal Azhar, Aarav Anand, Amrisha Kumar, Ahaan Chopra and Jai Singh. The soft board, folders and invitation cards for the assembly were made by Apurna Das, Pallavi Singh, Tamira Agnihotri, Amrisha Kumar, Soubhik Giri, Sujal Kumar Jena, Mrinank Dey and Naman Lamba. In order to strengthen language harmony and develop a conducive environment for learning more Indian Languages apart from  one’s own mother tongue,the Hindi Department organised a Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav on 12th December on the Janma Jayanti of Subramania Bharati, a great nationalist poet.

Activities performed under the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav were Speech/Debate/Extempore competitions in multiple languages conducted on the theme of ‘Bharat ki Ekta aur Akhandata mein Bharatiya Bhashaon ka Yogdaan’, Students came dressed in  ‘Bhartiya Paridhan’ like dhoti, kurta, various shades of saree showing the rich cultural heritage and history of our country.My Language My Signature’ (मेरी भाषा, मेरेहस्ताक्षर) Campaign was organised by placing Boards in prominent places in the school campus where the students signed in their native language with the pledge that henceforth they would try to sign in their native language.The My Language My Signature’ (मेरी भाषा, मेरेहस्ताक्षर) Campaign was initiated by the Principal Ms Padmavati Srinivasan by providing her signature in her mother tongue Tamil. This was followed by signatures by the Vice Principals, Headmistress IX – X, Headmistress VI-VIII, and H.O.D’s in their respective mother tongues, thereby formally opening the campaign to the Students, who took part enthusiastically.

Topic : “WE ARE OUR CHOICES”

‘Life is made of choices, and the choices you make make you.’ When we think about choices, we think of the large and significant choices that we believe choose our path ahead. But, on the contrary, it is the small and seemingly insignificant choices that truly make a person who they are.

The assembly commenced with the prayer “Hum ko man ki shakti dena”, led by Mihika on the harmonium, and sung by Parishka, Samar, Daksh, Aayushi, Vaibhavi, Riddhima,Akshat, Kavin, Kunal, Vedant,, Paone, Aishwarya, Saanvi and Ananya Kukreja. This was followed by a shloka recitation by Mihika, and translation by Riddhika .The thought of the day was given by Daksh and Padmini, followed by the news by Shiavansh, Aryan, Palak, Krisha and Amaan. A self-composed poem was recited by Ananya Chauhan, after which an inspirational dance was performed by Gunn, Saanvi,Doniya, Aishwarya,Kritika, Kashika, Nandini and Siddhant. Compelling speeches were then given by Avishi, Namish, Anya,Kavin, Kanak,Gunn and Gauri on the importance of choices. A short skit was then performed by the students of Aditya, Anshumaan, Suryakiran, Adeeva, Parishka, Sarah, Kavin, Shreya and complemented by a dance by Navya. We concluded this outstanding display of talent and creativity with a melodious rendition of ‘Firework’ performed by Shaan, Awmi, Ananya C, Ananya K, Pranay, Kunal, Anya, Amaira, Vedant, Aishwarya, Paone, Saanvi, Yuvansh,Suraya, Sarah, Prishka, Anshumaan, Avishi and Sumaiyah. Classical Dance performance by Vijay Lakshmi was rendered beautifully.

Compering was by Anya, Riddhima, Shreya, Maanvi, Yuvansh. Invites, Board and Folders were prepared by Avishi, Anshumaan, Adeeva, Khushi, Parishka, Gunn, Saanvi, Aishwarya,Navya and Khushi.

GALAXIA 2022 

The members of the Expressions Theatre club of Delhi Public School R.K Puram participated in “Galaxia 2022” organised by Bal Bhavan Public School Mayur Vihar Phase II. The students participated in the event: Vox-Populi (Nukkad Natak)The Nukkad Natak team shed light on the theme “शराब के दुष्प्रभाव” wherein they spread awareness about the ill-effects of alcoholism in today’s generation and secured the Consolation prize with the support and guidance provided by their teacher incharge Ms. Sanya Taneja. The participants were as follows
