Topic : “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”

Unity, not uniformity, must be our aim. We attain unity only through variety. Diversity is the core of India’s heritage, culture and traditions, extending from one corner of the country to another. Since independence, it is the salt to the uniqueness of our unity.

To celebrate our diversity, classes VI C and VI D came together with the topic for the assembly- Unity in Diversity. The assembly started with morning prayer sung by Aadya Sinha, Anishka Nayar, Tanushree Juyal, Vihaan Segal, Harsanjam Singh, Gauri Basoya, Ruchika Verma, Jetsun Dolkar Dukpa and Swara K. Niraj. This was followed by a panel discussion about the topic by the students: Araatrika Ghoshal, Shnaysa Sahai, Aarav Bhaskar, Yadavi Mehrotra, Lavanya Singh, Aarav Gaur, Eshaan Sachdeva, Rabbani Kaur, Adya Malhotra and Divyansha Kashyap.

Anya Garg presented a dance thanking the Lord Ganesha. It was followed by thoughts for the day by Dia Jain and Aanya Anand. The news for the day was read by Naisha Agrawal, Aaryav Chouudhary, Ruchika Verma and Yati Sharma. After this, Daakshya Tewatia and Shaurya Gulati recited a Sanskrit shloka on the topic. The orchestra performance was done by Abhiraj Tokas, Rudrapratap Malhotra, Reeya Sharma, Neymat Mehra, Shanvik, Aradhya Bhardwaj, Anahadraj Singh, Aarnav Agarwal and Aanya Anand.

The song was sung by the students Aadya Sinha, Anishka Nayar, Tanushree Juyal, Vihaan Segal, Harsanjam Singh, Gauri Basoya, Ruchika Verma, Jetsun Dolkar Dukpa and Swara K. Niraj. The group dance was presented by the students: Sera, Anya Garg, Aarit Dhingra, Kianna Grover, Reet, Kavya Dayal, Rishita Kehar, Viraj Verma, Tanishqa and Aashi Singh. Topic : “TWO STARS ON MY SHOULDER ARE BETTER THAN MILLIONS IN THE SKY”

Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated in our country on the 7 December every year to honour the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought and continue to fight on our borders to safeguard the country’s honour. To celebrate this day, classes XI-P and XI-Q came together with the topic- “Two stars on my shoulder are better than millions in the sky”. Assembly commenced with a beautiful morning prayer sung by: Saanvi Pandey, Siya Mahajan, Rijak Deep Singh, Kabir Bhatnagar, Parth Kurra, Srivatsala, Kashvi Arora,Pranay, Aryan, Sagar, Saranya and Pavni. The comperes Kaashvi Goel, Veer Bansal, Aadya Gupta and Rohan Chugh gave the audience an insight into the topic. Aadya Mishra performed the graceful invocation dance followed by the thought of the day by Advait Jaipuria and Samaira Gupta. News Updates were given by Shlok Passari, Raj Agarwal, Paavani Deo and Anirudh Goel. This was followed by the choir presenting their rendition by the melodious songs “Ae watan” and “ Teri Mitti” sung by: Saanvi Pandey, Siya Mahajan, Rijak Deep Singh, Kabir Bhatnagar, Parth Kurra, Tashvi Gupta, Abhinav Aggarwal, Srivatsala, Kashvi Arora, Pranay, Aryan, Sagar, Saranya and Pavni. To show our admiration, gratitude notes were presented by Harshit in Gujarati, Satvik Prajwal in Telugu and Paavani Deo in Assamese. After this, thought provoking speeches were delivered by Chaitanya Jain, Maanvi Singhania and Kashvi Arora. The power of words was shown by the recitation of poems by Nilay Kumar Jain and Ananya.

The audience was enthralled by a breathtaking dance performance by Abhyuday Vadehra, Kashvi Chona, Sanskriti Arora, Bhavya Middha and Khushali Sethi. E-invite was prepared by Shlok Passari. Invite was prepared by Kashvi Chona and Siya Mahajan. Shiven Gupta, Raj, Kashvi Chona, Advait, ,Kishiv, Shaurya and Siya decorated the board. The folders were created by Kaashvi Goel, Samrath Arora Majoka and Kishiv Gupta. The power point presentation was made by Aadvik Dhingra and Ishaan Jain. The main aim of the assembly was to express gratitude to the brave hearts of Indian Armed Forces for their exemplary service to the nation.

Assembly IX-I & IX-J (06-12-2022)

Topic : “THE NATION THAT DESTROYS ITS SOIL, DESTROYS ITSELF”

There is no life without nature!! Nature can exist without us, but we can’t exist without nature. Let us preserve it, cherish it, and save it from getting perished.

With this theme in mind, the Class Assembly of 9I and 9J began with a heartfelt prayer by Aashu, Anshul Sharma, Armaan Mohal, Ashutosh Sharma, Heyday Newar, Jairaj Chaudhary, Manan Bhola, Shubham, Soumya Kumar,Daksh Goyal, Arihant, Divyashakti, Shivansh, Vidit Jain, Vidit Goel, Punney, Faguni, Gaur, Gauransh, Namya, Anish, Nikhil, Shayona, Shauryainder, Ananya, Subham, Vritti, Lovleen, Soham and Manvik. Then the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, welcomed everyone with an eloquent prayer.

This was followed by the Vishnu Stotram performed by Charvi Rawat and Pallavi. Jagesh and Sohum Jain shared their thoughts for the day. Aarush Sahni, Kabir Malhotra, and Shivin gave speeches and poetry was recited by Aadhya Singh and Aditi about the importance of nature and soil. The news was read by Tanya Dhaka, Swadha Singh, Arnav and Vidit Goel.

Thereafter, a mesmerising group dance performance was put by Aditi Arya, Gauravi Tewani, Maira Adil, Mukund Hattewar, Raksham Bhatia, Samreen Kaur, Yashvi,Agrani, Ashwika, Vaishnavi, Jia, Lovleen, Nishant and Rajveer. The concluding act was a soulful western choir performed by Akshita Singh (Keyboards), Bhoomi Kohli, Paridhi Kumar, Saanvi Agnihotri, Samdisha Singh, Shaurya Verma, Shravya Kumar, Swadha Singh, Arihant, Divyashakti, Nikhil and Shayona.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Shivesh Savi. The comperes of the programme were Arjun Ahlawat, Arnav Bhola, Nishtha Gupta, Paridhi Kumar, Samarthya Gupta, Satya Pragyan Sahoo, Shravya Kumar, Kartavya, Samaira, Rehaan, Vidhaan, Ananya, Sabyasachi, Punnay and Tejas. SCI-π 2.0

The Science and Maths Department of Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram organised their annual Inter-School Math-Science Festival, Sci-π 2.0, on Saturday, December 3, 2022. 

 

The fest provided a stage for upcoming young scientists and mathematicians to demonstrate their abilities in several challenging engagements. Numerous visionary and productive competitions were planned to enable the students of classes VI to XII to learn, explore and attain creative prospects.

 

Sci-π 2.0 was organised in a hybrid mode, with two events happening online and four events happening onsite.

 

The Online category consisted of:

 

  1. Tira Comica: Comic strip designing

For the junior level, the participants were required to design a comic strip on the theme Myths and Misconceptions regarding Science. For the senior level, the theme was Innovative applications related to Science. The event was judged by Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Head, Department of Biology, DPS R.K.Puram and Mr. Amit Rajput, Head, Arts Department, DPS, R.K.Puram. 

 

  1. Math-o-Kalender: Designing a Calendar

It was an opportunity for the participants to showcase their artistic talents and design a calendar illustrating their creative knowledge. The event was judged by Ms. Shreya Kataria from Samsung, an alumna of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram, who was also the President of Maths Society. The event was also judged by Mr. Mrinaal Mittal from The Unity Group, also an alumnus of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram, who was the President of Student Council.

Science Events

 

  1. The event for the Junior level was Ekphrasis-Poem the Picture, an opportunity for students to explain concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the form of a poem of 8 lines written by them on-the-spot. The judges were Ms. Debarati Sen, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Sri Venkateswara college, Dr. Sarika Yadav, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Sri Venkateswara college, Dr. Smriti Sharma Bhatia, Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Miranda House, University of Delhi, and Dr. Ritu Gaur, Professor, Life Sciences and Biotechnology at South Asian University, New Delhi.

 

  1. For the Senior level, the event was Innovatief Leren. The event infused in the students the will to discover, observe, question and explore as they demonstrated the innovative methods of learning any concept of Science through a PPT with a voiceover. Some teams also presented the models that they had created on their respective themes. The event was judged by Ms. Monika Sharma, Professor at Miranda House, Dr. R.K. Wadhwa, Professor and Additional Medical Superintendent at Safdarjung Hospital, Dr. Shivangi Saha, Assistant Professor at AIIMS and Ms. Meena Dhami, Former Head of the Chemistry Department at DPS RK Puram.

 

Mathematics Events

 

  1. The event for the junior level Modeil Mathematica, was targeted towards young researchers and mathematicians. Participants were asked to make a 3D model based on a given mathematical concept. After the completion of the model, the teams presented their entries to the judges. The judges were Dr. Charu Sharman, Assistant Professor at Shiv Nadar University and Mr. Anshuman Gupta, an alumnus of DPS RK Puram. 

 

  1. For the Senior level, the event was Symphonies of Maths, an event that displayed the musical talent of the students as they captured the hearts of the audience by singing a melodious self-composed song related to Mathematics. The event opened with the welcome address by the Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria where he emphasised on the importance of observation and learning and drew a parallel between music and mathematics as both of them stand universal. The event was judged by Dr. Bhavneet Kaur, an Assistant Professor at Lady Sriram College, Delhi University and Ms. Mahima Goel, an alumnus of DPS R. K. Puram and a former Head girl.
                

The event successfully ended under the supervision of the Ms. Ritu Nayar, Head, Department of Mathematics; Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Head, Department of Biology; Mr. Ajay Goel, Head, Department of Physics;  Mr. Prem Dhawan, Head, Department of Chemistry, other department members and support staff. 

 

The closing ceremony commenced with a wonderful rendition of the Ganesh Vandana through Classical Kathak, followed by an exciting medley of songs performed by the School Choir and  a celebratory, vibrant Garba dance performance. The Vice Principal of DPS RK Puram Mr. Anil Kathuria expressed his gratitude to the Principals of all participating schools on behalf of the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan. He added that competitions like these are learning opportunities that students need to avail, saying that ‘never be the smartest person in the room: if you find that you are, change the room’ as learning happens when you step out of your comfort zone. 

 

Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Vice Principal, DPS RK Puram, said that the integral component of all the events was creative arts, propelling the students towards further innovation. He urged students to move beyond classroom learning, highlighting the intrinsic relationship between performing arts and natural sciences. All four departments released their annual magazines with the names The Mathyard by the Mathematics Club, Biology Matters by the Inquisito Club, Iminium by the Catalyst Club and The Phyzard by PhySoc. Mr. Prem Dhawan gave the vote of thanks where he mentioned that the event was successful particularly because of the large number of participating schools and the effort and quality that each team brought along with them. 

 

The event successfully concluded under the supervision of Ms. Ritu Nayar, Head, Department of Mathematics; Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Head, Department of Biology; Mr. Ajay Goel, Head, Department of Physics;  Mr. Prem Dhawan, Head, Department of Chemistry, other department members and support staff. The overall champions were DPS Faridabad. The ceremony drew to a close with the singing of the School Anthem and the National Anthem.

Topic : “EMPATHY- THE KEY TO HEAL THE WORLD”

Empathy is learning to stand in somebody else’s shoes, to see through their eyes. It is a quality of character that can change the world. The assembly commenced with a morning prayer by Naitik, Jayati, Samriddhi, Suhani, Sasha, Saisha, Yatee, Akshita, Kashvi, Aarav Verma, Rudraksh, Sayansh, Sanskriti, Atharva, Vanshika and Manraj. The comperes Kyraan and Arusha gave the audience an insight into the topic and elucidated the value of empathy in one’s life. Sanshray and Siddharth presented the thoughts of the day. Rayyan, Aarav Verma, Vihan and Saisha apprised everyone with the morning News. Manya, Elysia, Aarav Vijan, Avika, Krishna, Devaang, Shaista, Devraj and Shikha presented a skit depicting the significance of empathy.

This was followed by the choir presenting their rendition of the melodious song ‘Head the World’ sung by Pranad, Ashi, Aarav Goel, Ranjana, Shruti, Anshuman, Ananya Shree, Bhavya Bankuray, Shikha, Bhavika, Dhanika, Hriman,Khadija, Aishani, Anika and Avneet with Ayush, Nikhil, Aarav and Rayirth at the instruments. To add to the divine mood, Shlokas were recited by Samarth, Suhani, Aishani and Aarav Pahwa. The power of words was shown by the recitation of self-composed poems by Sasha and Devraj in English and Hindi respectively. The audience was then delighted by an excellent dance performance by Arohi, Bhavya Mishra, Tanishka, Avantika, Yatee, Kashvi, Advita, Aarna, Aakriti and Himanshi. Assembly Invitation Cards, folders and board work were done by Nikhil and Aashi. Gauri, Suhani, Rayirth and Manya made the PowerPoint presentation.

The main aim of the assembly was to instill the value of empathy and compassion in students.

Topic : “BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW”

The theme of the assembly of Class XI E and F  was ‘Build a better tomorrow’. The assembly began with the morning prayer by Garv, Krishna, Harit, Devesh, Ananya, Spurti, Ishwaaku and Priti followed by a shloka by Kabir and Harsh. Sannidhi, Sherin, Yuvika and Tanisha presented Ganesh Vandana followed by a thought by Garv and Aviral. News updates were given by Suyash, Anushka, Ayaan and Abhishek. Aishanya presented a self composed poem followed by speeches by Arnav, Apoorv, Venya, Adya and Paridhi. Devansh, Yash and Siddharth spoke about the constitution day. Dhiren, Aarav, Vaibhav, Siddharth and Adi presented an instrumental performance. Ridhi, Ananya, Priti, Ishwaaku, Spurti, Ashish, Aviral, Vinamra, Soumya, Ainesh, Adya, Yashasvi, Harit, Kritika and Devansh presented a melodious song followed by a western dance by Ridhi, Prisha, Kritika, Mridul, Asmit, Vinamra, Yuvika, Spurti, Sharin, and Harit.

Topic : “Duty before self: Hamari Sanskritik Virasasat”

Constitution Day, also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas’, is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950. 

To celebrate this day, classes VIII C and VIII D came together with the topic- Duty before self: Hamari Sanskritik Virasat. Bronze Medal In Slovak Junior International 2022

Madhurr Dhingra  of class XII-Q represented INDIA in SLOVAK JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL 2022 and secured a  Bronze Medal 🥉 in MS U19 category held in Trencin, Slovakia, Europe from 25th November 2022 – 27th November 2022. On the road to finals he defeated Sebastien Kadlec (Slovakia) in first round, World No.48 and Seed 2-Mark Korosa (Slovenia) in second round, Lorenz Oberndofer (Austria) in Pre Quarters, Seed 8 Ilija Nicolussi (Austria) in Quarters and lost to Seed no.3 and World No.59 Mateusz Golas (Poland) 15-21, 21-18, 21-13.

AN EDUCATIONAL TOUR OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUM

The History Department of the school organized an educational tour to the National Museum for Class VI students from 15 November to 23 November 2022. The excursion to the museum was quite fascinating and enriching for the students as they went on a field trip with their friends for the first time after the pandemic. With the permission and guidance of Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, it was facilitated by the Headmistress of Classes VI-VIII, Ms. Vinita Gupta, and Coordinator Ms. Shaloo Khanna.

The students were taken on a tour of various galleries such as the gallery of Harappan Civilization, the Early Medieval Art, the Late Medieval Art, and others showcasing Indian miniature paintings, sculptures, coins and statues of Buddha. Students showed keen interest in learning about ancient tools and weapons. They were fascinated by the ancient artifacts on display and the unique glimpse offered by all the objects and paintings, into the culture and heritage of India. The museum has undergone tremendous refurbishment in the last few years. It was a fun-filled experience for the students.
