50 years of celebration with a Golf tournament 

Friendships built through golf are deeper, enduring and special, keeping in mind our school, Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, one of the most prestigious schools in India celebrated this milestone of completing 50 years of glorious service in shaping young minds, with a golf tournament, aiming at strengthening the bond between fellow dipsites. 

The golf tournament was held on 18th August, 6:00 AM onwards at Qutab Golf Course, Lado Sarai. The tournament had 74 players which included students from 6th grade to 12th grade along with our wonderful alums. Before the event took place, all the golfers had to assemble at 6:40 AM  where they were asked to reach their allotted tees by 6:45 AM. 

The tournament began with a shotgun at 7:00 AM. 

We were honoured to have Ridhima Dilawari, a professional golfer and alumna, as the chief guest. At the end of the game, golfers had to submit their score cards and collect their goodie bags. Refreshments were served after the round followed by the prize distribution. There were prizes for different categories -Classes 6-9th, 10-12th and the Alumni. 

There were prizes for the longest drive on hole 8, closest to hole 13, straightest drive on hole 18 and lastly beating the pro-Ridhima Dilawari on hole 10. The winner of our junior batch was Kashika Senthil of class 8-E. And the winner of our senior batch was Ragini Navet of class 12-V. We were delighted to have Athena Education, Agility, Dentim and EV Eyewear as the sponsors along with Chimmys as the Executive Partner of this event.

The Think Club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, under the counsel of club in-charge, Ms. Archna Deepak, organised a series of inter-section competitions for classes VI-XII on the occasion of Independence Day, with the aim of challenging the students’ spontaneity and encouraging critical thinking. The events took place virtually on Google Meet and Google Classroom.

Confabulation is one of Think Club’s most coveted annual events to develop the student’s creativity and innovation. It was a Group Discussion event for the students of classes XI and XII.

During the event, students were asked to articulate their thoughts on the topic, “Sone Ki Chidiya 2.0” individually. 

The event was judged by former Think Club Presidents Ms. Medhaavi Didi and Ms. Shreya Nimbali.

India’s Think Tank was an exhilarating platform for students of classes IX and X to come up with innovative solutions for common problems faced by the states of India. 

Participants were required to come up with creative solutions to state-specific problems which were assigned to them, keeping local and geographical conditions in mind. They were asked to make a brief synopsis or presentation regarding the same, and present it to the panel of judges.

The event was judged by alums Mr. Tejas Vaid and Mr. Mayank Sachdeva.

Connect gave its participants an opportunity to think outside the box, leave their comfort zones and explore solutions in the unknown. It pushed the students of classes VI-VIII to view the world with more curious eyes and get their ideas in motion. 

Participants were provided with 8 words, out of which they were required to innovate on any 4 words of their choice. They were given 2 hours to come up with practical ideas and 3 minutes to present these ideas to the panel of judges. 

The event was judged by the alums Ms Medhaavi Didi and Mr Mayank Sachdeva.

THIRD RANK AT IIT KANPUR IN SQUASH

Arnav Khandelwal of Class VIII F secured the 3rd Rank in the age group of 13-15 Category held at IIT Kanpur between 5th -7th August 2022 recognised by  Squash Racket Association of India ( SRFI ).

Assembly X-F & X-G (03-08-2022)

“Topic: “Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat.

India is a land of diversity where people of different castes, creeds, religions, cultures and beliefs live together in harmony. India is a country where there is ‘Unity in Diversity.

The class presentation commenced with the morning prayer by the choir which was followed by the Ganesh Vandana in Bharatnatyam dance form by Savarni. After this, there was a Sloka recital by Shreya and Aditi. The news was read by Raunaq, Priyankalata, Pranav and Shreyaansh after which there were speeches by Kavya, Praneeth, Riya, Ajitansh, Shivya and Aditi Mani. Next, Anvesha recited a self-composed poem followed by a patriotic song by the choir. The assembly’s concluding act was an energetic group bhangra dance.

The comperes of the programme were Kavya, Ria and Aditi. The PowerPoint presentation was done by Arnuv, Lokesh, Shaurya and Maanav. Folders and invites were created by Suryansh, Aditi Sharma, Veyshaant and Aditi Sinha.

“इस माह हम आजादी का अमृत-महोत्सव मना रहे हैं, साथ ही इसी महीने डीपीएस आरके पुरम की स्थापना के 50 वर्ष भी पूरे हो रहे हैं। कक्षा 10F तथा 10G की प्रातः कालीन सभा का विषय था,  “”एक भारत, श्रेष्ठ भारत।”” डीपीएस आरके पुरम भी स्वयं में एक छोटा सा भारत की तो है। यह प्रार्थना सभा समर्पित थी भारत की अखंडता, अनेकता में एकता तथा भारत के सांस्कृतिक विरासत को। भारत सदा ही विविधता में एकता का देश रहा है, मिश्रित सभ्यता और संस्कृति होने के बावजूद संपूर्ण भारत एक है, अखंड है। इसी संकल्पना को इस प्रातः कालीन सभा के माध्यम से समझाया गया था। कहते हैं-  ‘जो भरा नहीं है भावों से, बहती जिसमें रसधार नहीं, वह हृदय नहीं पत्थर है, जिसमें स्वदेश का प्यार नहीं।’ इस सभा का संचालन अदिति, रिया तथा काव्या ने किया था। प्रार्थना तथा कक्षा गीत में तानिश, अजूनी, तविशा, युक्ति, सिमरन, श्रिया, साहिबनूर, शिनाया, मानव, शैरी, एंजेल, वैभव व श्रावणी ने भाग लिया तथा तबले पर अदिति ने साथ दिया। शुभ विचार श्रिया, अदिति ने किया। भाषण अजितांश, शिव्या, प्रनीथ, काव्या ने किया तथा नृत्य में प्रतिभा, रीत, इशांक, त्वीशा, रमणीक, दीप्ति, शगुन, आदिति, इशकरण, प्रनीथ, हर्ष व सोहम ने भाग लिया। पावर पॉइंट प्रेजेंटेशन शौर्य, लोकेश तथा मानव  ने बनाई।”

Topic:  CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE DAY 

HAR GHAR TIRANGA

True stories of valour are not forgotten, they stay immortal in our hearts and in the pages of history. Class XII-C took this opportunity to portray the same through their class assembly. 

The assembly began with the morning prayer sung by Akshat, Aryan, Ayushman, Kavya, Paramjeet, Parth, Pragya, Sadhna, Shayana, Swarnima and Taneesha. The Saraswati vandana was performed by Nabiha. News was read by Parth and Raghav.

Kavya recited a melodious shloka. Furthermore, the topic’s essence was explained by Harbin and Taneesha through their speeches. The thought for the day was delivered by Aryan, Harsh, Khushi and Pragya. 

Hargun Loomba and Manas recited a self-composed poem. Dance performance was presented by Aslesha, Bishmayee, Nabiha, Pragya, Sadhna and Swarnima. Compering was done by Aliya, Myra and Zayan and the script by Divyanshi. 

Besides, a patriotic song was sung by Aryan Agarwal, Kavya Shrotriya, Nabiha Yoosuf, Akshat, Ayushman, Paramjeet, Parth, Pragya, Sadhna, Shayana, Swarnima and Taneesha to honour the freedom fighters of our country. A tabla performance was presented by Amartya and Aryan.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY‘22

The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was held over  two days: 4th August, 2022 by administering the oath by the School Appointees.  Mr. V.K. Shunglu, the Chairman of the DPS Society and Managing Commitee, DPS RK Puram,was the Chief Guest for the investiture on 4 August 2022. It commenced with the inaugural lighting of the lamp by the Chairman Shri VK Shunglu, the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan along with the Vice Principals,Head Mistress and the supervisor.

The ceremony started with a devotional shloka ,as the students expressed their gratitude towards the Almighty. The Chief Guest,, Mr. Shunglu was felicitated by the Principal.The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan , addressed the gathering and congratulated the students, emphasising the essence of true leadership – celebrating effort and impact, and respecting others and developing self appreciation.. She encouraged the students to serve the school and guide other students diligently and embrace their responsibilities not only as XII grade students but also as responsible human beings.. 

This was followed by a mesmerising dance performance centering towards the theme of  ‘Moving Forward in Life despite its Struggles’. It was a fusion of Contemporary, Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi, warming the hearts of the spectators with its beauty and grace. Following this was a short movie showcasing the school’s achievements in the past year.

The Chairman, Shri VK Shunglu in his address, talked about the importance of balancing our conflicting ideas and responsibilities; balancing the need to evolve with the responsibility of carrying forward our culture, balancing personal growth with teamwork using the phenomenal dance performance as an analogy and congratulated the post holders. 

This was followed by the felicitation of the school appointees by the Chairman, the Principal, and the Vice Principals. A new title, Vanguard of Service Before Self, was introduced for those who exemplified the school motto of  ‘Service Before Self’ in the most complete sense and helped the school become an even better place. 

The Chairman administered the oath of office wherein the students pledged to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and dedication so as to uphold the glorious name of the school and the country. The student leaders then gave motivational speeches which emphasised learning from failure as well as success, planning, confidence, team work, self-motivation and respect. They all celebrated the opportunity to be able to give back to the school and uphold the essence of DPS RKPuram.

The Indian and Western Choir then sang the School Anthem – which was composed by the Performing Arts Department with a special mention to Mr. Southingam and Mr. Suman  and was accompanied by the audience who sang with gusto and pride at the dawn of a new era at the school.The school celebrated the 75th Year  of independence promoting har Ghar Tiranga under the aegis of Amrit Mahotsav to inspire and unify all citizens of India to serve the country selflessly.The school rejoiced with pride the spectacular win of Ms Pinki in the CommonWealth Games by bringing home the gold medal in Lawn Bowls.

The Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria proposed the vote of thanks.The ceremony concluded on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.

Topic:   Who packs your parachute?

In the spirit of appreciation and thankfulness for the good we receive in life, the students of Class XII-G long to remind people to recognize the people who ‘pack their parachutes’.The presentation began with a warm welcome by Krish Goswami, and Navya Abrol followed by a morning prayer sung by Ahana, Akansha, Samannita, Aaditya Shankar, and Jatin, Kriish Nayyer, Lakshay, Praveen, Prithvi, Saksham, Shreyansh Singh and Yash. Akansha recited a Sanskrit shloka’s rendition along with its translation. Furthermore, the topic’s essence was explained by Abhav, Ishaan, Manan, Shivansh and Siddhant with the help of their speeches.

The thought for the day by Archit and Aarav to ornate the theme. Akansha along with Amritansh recited a self-composed poem. A skit was presented by Shivangi, Aarav, Aditya Banka, Amritansh, Anjali, Ayushman, Ishaan, Manan, Shivangi, Vidhi and Vinayak. The song- “Circles” was sung by Samannita, Ahana, Aaditya Shankar, Aarav, Kriish Nayyer,

Praveen, Prithvi, Saksham, Yash with Shreyansh Dash, Aditya Banka and Divyam on the guitar. Amidst this, the festival of Hariyali Teej was talked about by Abhav, Ishaan, Manan, Khushi and Siddhant. Besides, a patriotic song was sung by Samannita, Ahana and Akansha to honour the freedom fighters.
