SEMINAR ON NOISE POLLUTION

A seminar was organised on noise pollution at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on 21st December 2022 for classes VIII-A to VIII-G. Dr Shalabh Sharma, a senior ENT consultant at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, was invited as the guest speaker for the event.

This seminar was held as a part of the environment club awareness initiative, based on the suggested monthly activities by the Directorate of Education (DoE). The program was held under the able guidance of the principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan and Ms Vinita Gupta, the headmistress of classes VI-VIII.

The session commenced with a warm welcome of the guest speaker. Dr Sharma started the session by explaining the meaning of ‘noise’ and the harmful range of sound. He touched on the sources and effects of noise pollution on humans and the environment respectively. This was followed by an interactive session with the students about the behavioural changes that can be adopted by human beings to prevent noise pollution. He also held a brief interactive quiz and Q&A session towards the end.

The seminar culminated with Ms Vinita Gupta acknowledging the speaker for the highly informative session, the environment club in charge Ms Neelam Ajwani and the activity in charge Ms Deeksha Gupta, for the success of the event.

The event was a great success as the students not only gained new knowledge about the topic but also wanted to explore and teach behavioural changes to curb noise pollution for the betterment of society.
