Delhi Public School R.K. Puram hosted the Class XII Scholar Badge Ceremony for the academic session 2025–26 on 22 August 2026 in the Audio-Visual Hall. The ceremony was a celebration of academic excellence, co-curricular accomplishments and the sustained commitment of students towards holistic growth.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri V. K. Shunglu, Chairman, Delhi Public School Society and Chairman, Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Shri V. K. Shunglu; the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals, Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kathuria and Mr Mukesh Kumar; Ms Rashmi Malhotra; Headmistress, Classes IX and X, Dr Anubha Gopal; and In-charge, Classes VI to VIII, Ms Vandana Chandoke.
Keeping with the theme ‘The Power of Music to Inspire and Unite’, the programme commenced with a stirring performance by the Indian Orchestra. The seamless interplay of traditional instruments and vocal harmonies created an atmosphere of celebration and set an inspiring tone for the proceedings. This was followed by a soulful rendition of ‘Ban Ban Dhundhan Jau’ by the students of Class XII.
The cultural presentation continued with a graceful dance performance depicting Abhimanyu, the legendary warrior prince whose life symbolises courage, perseverance and selfless service. Through powerful choreography and rhythmic precision, the performance brought alive the valour and sacrifice of Abhimanyu, portraying him not merely as a figure from the Mahabharata, but as an enduring ideal of courage and service before self.
In his address, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and the proud parents of the award recipients and expressed his gratitude for their presence. He invoked the timeless wisdom of the Sanskrit shloka:
“उद्यमेन हि सिध्यन्ति कार्याणि न मनोरथैः।
न हि सुप्तस्य सिंहस्य प्रविशन्ति मुखे मृगाः॥”
Emphasising that aspirations can be translated into achievements only through sustained effort, he urged the students to pursue their academic goals with sincerity, perseverance and discipline. He also shared an insightful research-based observation concerning students in the United States, highlighting the importance of continuous learning and personal development. He concluded by underscoring discipline as a fundamental prerequisite for success, growth and responsible citizenship.
The much-anticipated Scholar Badge Ceremony was thereafter conducted by the Class XII representatives, Ms Abha Chona, Ms Kusum Yadav and Ms Shelly Malhotra. A total of 293 awards were presented in recognition of exceptional scholastic and co-scholastic achievements. The honours included 113 Gold Medals, 37 Blue Blazers,1 Blue Badge, 83 Second Green Badges and 3 First Green Badges, acknowledging outstanding academic performance. Students were also felicitated for their noteworthy accomplishments in sports, music and dance.The Co-curricular awards included 10 Red Blazers, 20 Red Ties, 64 Pins and 40 certificates
The ceremony also witnessed the presentation of the Ishwar Chandra Memorial Distinction to the Class XI toppers of each section and the Deepanvita Baisya Memorial Commendation to the toppers of each stream. Students who had achieved 100% attendance were also recognised for their exemplary commitment and regularity.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Shri V. K. Shunglu, emphasised the importance of making thoughtful choices and continually strengthening one’s skills. He encouraged the students to define their goals clearly and remain committed to lifelong learning, reminding them that every stage of life presents opportunities to acquire new knowledge and competencies. He highlighted the role of skills in enabling individuals to navigate future challenges with confidence and purpose. His address inspired the students to embrace learning, make responsible choices and strive for continuous self-improvement. He further emphasised that while individual endeavour is important, meaningful progress and enduring impact are achieved through collaboration and collective effort.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr Anil Kathuria, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion and sharing his valuable insights with the students. He acknowledged the Principal’s inspiring initiatives for student development and lauded the parents for being steadfast pillars of support in their children’s journey. Quoting Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much,” he expressed his appreciation to the Vice Principals for their guidance and support and commended the teachers and students whose dedicated efforts contributed to the success of the ceremony.
The programme culminated with the National Anthem, bringing to a close a memorable occasion that celebrated not merely achievement, but the discipline, perseverance, dedication and collective effort that make excellence possible.
