Investiture 2019

The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was held on 9th May, 2019. Mr. V.K. Shunglu, the Chairman of DPS Society, DPS R K Puram managing committee, and a Padma Bhushan awardee was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Rahul Singh, a prestigious member of DPS Society had also kindly consented to grace the occasion. It commenced with the inaugural lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, the Chairman and Chief Guest, along with the Vice Principals and the Headmistress.

The ceremony started with a heartwarming prayer as the students expressed their gratitude towards the Almighty. The magnificent play, interspersed with mime, poetry and dance performances, depicting a spectrum of emotions such as envy, anger, sadness, happiness and peace, enthralled the audience. The fusion of dance styles helped the drama blossom into a mesmerizing performance, touching the very souls of the spectators. The scintillating beats of the orchestra resonated into the silence around the audience. The marvelous medley of English and Hindi songs by the school choir touched the hearts of all present.

The Principal addressed the gathering, talking about the various Colors of Life and how different colours hold different meanings in different cultures. Quoting CS Lewis, she said, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”  She applauded the students and appreciated the effort put in by them in accomplishing great feats.

The Chairman, Shri VK Shunglu emphasised the importance of education by pointing out that it gave the students the capacity to think differently and question things around them. Moreover, he reiterated that wisdom has to be discovered by the students themselves.

The Guest of Honour, Mr Rahul Singh congratulated the appointees and encouraged the students to be the change that they want to see in the world around them.

This was followed by the felicitation of the school appointees by the Chairman, the Guest of Honour, the Principal, the Vice Principals, and the Headmistress. The Chairman administered the oath of office wherein the students pledged to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and dedication so as to uphold the glorious name of the school and the country.

Vice Principals Dr. Renu Nayar, Ms. Padma Shrinivasan, and Ms. Anita Singh along with the Headmistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra congratulated the appointees and reminded them that this was just a new beginning to their future endeavours.

The student leaders then gave motivational speeches emphasising on the need to realize their true potential and work diligently to see the school scale even greater heights.

 The ceremony concluded with the national anthem.
