Syed Tahir Abbas of class XII H and Vishesh Chaurasiya of class X I participated in the Inter-School Competition “अर्ज़ किया है” organized by Army Public School, Dhaula Kaun on 30 August 2022. They bagged the second position in the above competition.
‘ मीरा के पद गायन ‘
Adya Srivastava of Class XI S and Hindi Teacher Ms Amanpreet Kaur participated in Interschool Competition ‘मीरा के पद गायन’ organised by Mira Model Public School, Janakpuri on 3rd September 2022. Delhi Public School RK Puram secured the 1st position and the Rolling Trophy in the above competition.
BUDDING WRITER – ‘Soaring High’ by Mahira Jain
Mahira Jain of class 9G has published her collection of short stories, ‘Soaring High’, which is based on the true stories of underprivileged children of domestic workers whom she and her mother have taught at home for over a decade.
Her grandparents were her inspiration to start writing and her grandfather is a DPS alumni & was awarded “Father of Rural India” by late Professor CK Prahalad. Mahira has always been sensitive towards the needs of others and this empathetic trait was evident even when she was a little child. She credits her love and concern for the underprivileged to her parents and grandparents and the DPS faculty.This is Mahira’s first attempt at creating awareness about the plight of the disadvantaged and the need for society to rectify this anomaly. The book has been supported by India Vision Foundation, Navjyoti India Foundation and Art of Living Foundation. Her book holds a space in various prestigious offices and school libraries across India.
REPORT – EYE CAMP FOR CLASSES VI-VIII

An Eye Camp was organised in the school premises on Friday, 27 May 2022 to check the eyesight of the students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of Classes VI-IX. Under the able guidance of the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, the camp was conducted by the organisation, ‘Young Foresight’ and facilitated by the Headmistress of Classes IX-X, Ms Rashmi Malhotra and the Supervisor of Classes VI-VIII, Ms Vinita Gupta. The objective of the camp was to check the eyesight of the students and provide perfect-fitting spectacles, which are environmentally friendly and fully biodegradable, to those who were found to have weak eyesight.
The camp started at 9:30 AM and lasted till 1:30 PM for all the students. The eyesights of 42 students from Class VI, 25 students from Class VII, 16 students from Class VIII and 59 students from Class IX were tested in the presence of an ophthalmologist and optometrist. The parents of the students of Classes VI-VIII were also present in the school while the tests were conducted.
The eye tests were conducted in three stages and the students who were found to have weak eyesight were prescribed perfectly fitting spectacles with lenses as per their required powers. A database of all the students who had weak eyesight was also created using Google Sheets. Moreover, each student was counselled along with the parents regarding their eyesight and they were also advised about the importance of wearing spectacles on a regular basis to protect their precious eyes.
On Tuesday, 2nd August 2022, 58 students with weak eyesight were provided spectacles free of cost in the presence of Ms Padma Srinivasan, the Principal, Ms Vinita Gupta, the Supervisor and Ms Sangeeta Malik, Interim Headmistress – Junior Wing, Vasant Vihar.
The event was a fruitful one as many students benefited from the eye check-up and the timely intervention of the school helped them to focus on their studies in a better manner. The event not only helped to prevent the further deterioration of the eyesight of the students but also provided a sense of relief to the parents.
Monsoon 2022- Plantation Drive
The Department of Geography organized a plantation drive for class X students to commemorate 50 glorious years of DPS RK Puram and 75 years of Indian independence 0n August 8, 2022, at 9.15 Am in the facility Block. The function was graced by the presence of our three Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kathuria and Mr Mukesh KumarThe Vice Principals were warmly welcomed by the students of class X and the coordinator of Class X, Ms Arti Trivedi and the Coordinator of class IX, Ms Sangita Bajpai.
All participants enthusiastically planted medicinal plants like Amla, Stevia, Tulsi, Basil, Curry Patta, Harsinghar and Aloe Vera in the facility block. The three Vice Principals encouraged students to be sensitized toward the environment for a safer tomorrow. Slogans were chanted by students. Mr Miglani also assured the students that the school authorities will get metal tags etched with the student’s names and the scientific name of the plants. These will be placed around the saplings. Students gave their heartfelt thanks to the school authorities for providing them with a platform to showcase their concern for a safer, greener and healthier tomorrow. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the Principal, Vice Principal and the gardeners who helped us in bringing this idea to fruition.

Topic: Journey Through the Years
.” The assembly commemorated the journey of a student through school life with a touch of nostalgia and myriads of happy memories. It celebrated the spirit of being a student-constant growth, learning and relearning, making memories, and leaving a mark of excellence in all spheres and at all stages of life. As their school life is drawing to an end, the students of class XII-U enthusiastically participated in the class assembly and took a walk down memory lane, leaving the audience’s eyes moist and hearts warm. The assembly commenced with a soulful morning prayer sung by the entire class, followed by a Ganesh
Vandana was performed by Riju, Saanvi, Aaradhika and Kavya to mark the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Bhavyanshi, Bushra, Kretanya and Upasana presented the thought for the day to start the morning on a positive note. Subsequently, Antariksh, Ganapati, Lipi and Mohit presented the news headlines of the day. Indira, Ipshita and Vinayak left the audience inspired by narrating stories from Lord Ganesha’s life and encouraged them to imbibe the values lord Ganesha represents. Thereafter was a scintillating medley of songs performed by Sneha, Ipshita, Indira and Manasvi that beautifully highlighted the journey through one’s school years. The ensuing performance was a self-composed poem by Disha, Latika, Drishty and Riya, the budding poets of the class who aptly encapsulated the much-cherished memories of school days. The assembly concluded with a dance presented by Aaradhika, Akash, Ananya, Arpita, Kavya, Riju, Saanvi, Riya, Yashswini and Sneha, which left the audience mesmerized.

“Topic: “Peace is not everything, but without peace everything is nothing”
“Peace is not everything, but without peace everything is nothing”. Peace is the accurate way to maintain love in society. Peace is essential for protecting our society from being damaged. Peace can make our nation healthy, wealthy, and strong. Without peace, It is impossible to imagine a prosperous and developed nation. Peace can be achieved only by mutual understanding. And It is the responsibility of every person to maintain peace in society.
The assembly commenced with the morning prayer by Priyanka, Harman, Bhavmanyu, Shreya, Hiron, Bhavya, Tejas, Suheena, Aditya, Shivein, Ruhaan, Aanya Ahuja, Aanyya Dayal, Aaliya Gupta, Shrreya Loomba, Tvishaa Gupta, Aarav Sharma. This was followed by a melodious rendition of the Ganesh Vandana by Anushka. Varun & Anahita shared the thought for the day. The story was narrated by Arav, Aayush & Gatik. A soulful Sholka was recited by Kshitiz. Thereafter, the News bulletin was read by Aditya, Divyansh, Aahana, and Viraj.
The next presentation was the recitation of beautiful self-composed poems by Kaavya, Neil, and Veda. This was followed by the choir comprising Priyanka Nasa, Harman Gandhi, Bhavmanyu Tokas, Shreya Arora, Hiron, Bhavya Nagar, Tejas Upadhyay, Suheena, Darsh Sikka, Keshav Bindal(Guitar), Ruhaan, Aanya Ahuja, Aanyya Dayal, Aaliya Gupta, Shrreya Loomba, Tvishaa Gupta, Aarav Sharma(Guitar). The concluding act was a group contemporary dance performance by Diya Halan, Chhavi Tokas, Raina Thareja, Muskan, Namayra Kohli, Aadya, Suheena, Drishti Meena, Paavani, Bhavya, Myrah, Maanya, Kulsoom, Alviira.

GRAND FINALE WINNER OF THE SMART AUTOMATION CATEGORY
Spurti Nimbali a student of Class XI-F, recently participated in the Smart India Hackathon Junior 2022 organised by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and has been selected as the Grand Finale Winner of the Smart Automation category for her project DysDiag. This machine-learning based web-application assists in the timely and accurate diagnosis of learning disorders like dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia in children.
DPS R.K.Puram Becomes “Delhi State Champion” in FIT India Quiz 2021
Aparna Kanodia and Vedant Singh, both students of class XII , of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram New Delhi participated in the “FIT India Quiz” organized by Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports together with Ministry of Education.They became state level champions from Delhi. Due to unanticipated reasons Vedant Singh was replaced by Manas Sood of class X to represent Delhi State at National level of “FIT India Quiz” held from July 20th to July 30th 2022 in Mumbai.
