Keeping this message in mind, the Class Assembly of Class VI-E started with a heartfelt prayer song by Prasoon Chhetri, Siddh Raghuvanshi, Mishika Rana, Drishay Dandona, Dakshil Sejwal, Shivaansh Sharma, Azeez Kaur Sandhu, Advay Dubey, Sidhaant Chhabra, Maadhav Ahuja, Shivansh Malhotra, Abeer Chowdhary, Manikarnika Singh, Vishruta Pruthi, Piyush Choudhary, Aryav Arora, Vaibhav Mongia and Hanna Suhail. Then the Headmistress, Dr. Anubha Gopal welcomed everyone and led them through the morning prayer. This was followed by Ganesh Vandana gracefully performed by Divyanshi Agnihotri, Ahana Paul Chowdhury, Ameya S. Kurup, Anureet Kaur Narang, Inaya Idrisi and Trisha Gupta. Then Mishika Rana beautifully recited the Shloka followed by Siddh Raghuvanshi giving the meaning of it. The Thought for the Day was given by Piyush Choudhary. The news headlines for the day were read by Shivaansh Sharma, Shreyansh Kacker, Akanksha Yadav and Aryav Arora.

Thereafter, a thought-evoking play titled ‘Discovering the Magic Within’ was performed by Naira Lal Mehta, Aadvik Kapoor, Akanksha Yadav, Umar Abdul Majeed, Hanna Suhail, Manikarnika Singh, Aadhyant Jha, Shreyansh Kacker, Rudrha Rao, Aryav Arora, Vishruta Pruthi, Krishav Jain and Aarav Dhingra. The play was written by Naira Lal Mehta. It was followed by a beautiful self-composed poem titled ‘The Magic Within’ by Vishruta Pruthi. As the day would be incomplete without letting everyone experience the actual magic, a Magic Show was performed by Viraj Modi (magician), Sidhaant Chhabra and Shivaansh Sharma which left the audience spellbound and mesmerised. Thereafter, the energy of the stage was taken a notch higher by a Western dance performed by the graceful dancers, Divyanshi Agnihotri, Rishit Kumar, Ahana Paul Chowdhury, Ameya S. Kurup, Anureet Kaur Narang, Trisha Gupta, Manya Taneja, Shristi Baid, Anaika Chaurasia and Dakshil Sejwal.

The comperes of the programme were Krish Mediratta, Aadvik Kapoor, Piyush Choudhary and Azeez Kaur Sandhu. The e-invite was made by Vishruta Pruthi. The folders, handmade invite and the board for the assembly were made by Akanksha Yadav, Vishruta Pruthi, Ameya S. Kurup, Inaya Idrisi, Azeez Kaur Sandhu, Anaika Chaurasia, Krishav Jain, Shivansh Malhotra, Siddh Raghuvanshi, Anureet Kaur Narang, Hanna Suhail, Naira Lal Mehta, and Rudrha Rao. Assembly IX-J & IX-I (01-11-2023)

“Festivals are occasions to empower ourselves in the course of humanity – they are the occasions to rekindle the promise of humanity in our heart.” Festivals are a significant part of Indian culture, acting as a vehicle for the presentation of our values and emotions. These celebrations not only build our community’s foundation, but also allow people to reflect on and uphold these principles in their daily lives.

The class presentation commenced with Rishit welcoming and beginning our day with a soulful morning prayer sung by Adarsh, Vedant, Advika, Gitanya, Yashika, Mannat, Abhishek, Aditi, Arav, Gaurav, Navika, Mahi and Mayank. A beautiful traditional “Raag Shankara” dance was performed by Akshainiae, Kyna, Laasya and Anika. Arivan elaborated on the topic of the assembly. Then Aditi, Kiara, Satvik and Aarush mesmerized us with their inspiring thoughts in Sanskrit and English. Divyansh, Guarav, Aansh and Kshitiz updated us with the current headlines and the weather forecast for the day. Tisya and Rishabh gave a speech on the topic.

Following the speech, a heartwarming and enthralling skit on the lessons imparted to us by various Indian festivals took place, showcasing the deep cultural, religious and social significance they have in our lives. The script was written by Samriddhi, Rishabh, Aditya Das, Aairah, Laasya and Vedant. The narrators were Akansh, Krishiv, Samriddhi, Disha, Shaurya V., Saesha, Rishav. Ashmit, Divyansh, Madhav, Pia, Tanmay, Aairah, Naiteek, Shritha, Kairav, Tisya, Aahana, Namya, Abhishek, Piyush, Varun, Arav, Rishit, Abeer, Shaurya K and Ranbir performed the enticing skit for us, which included the western choir, performed by Rudrani, Shweta, Kairav, Shaurya V., Shivansh and Devashish. Then Tisya, Shweta and Aairah recited their self-composed poem about nature and festivals of India. This was followed by an exhilarating Kuchipudi & Kathak- Fusion dance performance by Aadya and Akshainaie. We had a short and informative presentation on POCSO. The assembly ended with the Headmistress addressing the gathering followed by the class representatives and class teachers of 9I and 9J and finally concluded with the School and National Anthem respectively.

The exquisite invitation cards and folders were made by Aairah, Kinjal, Mahi, Anika, Navika, Disha, Daksh, Shweta and Aadya. The board work done by Mahi, Anika, Navika, Daksh, Abhishri, Akshainiae and Kinjal was indeed commendable. The digital presentation was made by Rishabh, Krishiv, Tanmay, Shivansh and Ritwik. The delightful comperes were Rishit, Abeer, Anusha, Kairav, Devashish, Sarvam, Kavya, Ananya, Arivan and Manvik.

ROLLING TROPHY IN AMITY SANSKRIT OLYMPIAD

Amity International School, Saket organized the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Sanskrit Olympiad on the occasion of Sanskrit Diwas. Dia Gupta of class XI B secured the 1st position and Aditi Thakur of class  X J secured the 2nd position.135 students of class IX and X across 25 schools participated at the National Level in this olympiad wherein the Delhi Public School, R.K Puram once again bagged the Overall Rolling Trophy.

Resumption of Physical Classes

Dated :  19 November, 2023

It is informed that the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi vide Order No. PS/DE/2023/341 dated 18/11/2023 has ordered to resume physical classes  in all schools in Delhi from Nursery to Class XII w.e.f. Monday, 20.11.2023 in light of the improved Air Quality Index and  revoking of previous Order dated 05.11.2023 vide which action under Stage IV of GRAP had been invoked.

In view of the above, it is hereby informed that all classes (from Nursery to XII) shall resume physical classes at DPS R.K.Puram, East of Kailash & Vasant Vihar w.e.f. Monday, 20.11.2023 as usual.

In the wake of implementation of GRAP-IV measures due to poor Air Quality prevailing in Delhi, it has been decided that Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram, Vasant Vihar & East of Kailash will remain closed for Winter Break w.e.f. 9th November to 18th November, 2023 as directed by the Director of Education, GNCT of Delhi vide Order No. PS/DE/2023/336 dated 08/11/2023.

Further, it is informed that the remaining portion of Winter Break will be intimated in the due course of time.

GRAIN MOSAIC COMPETITION

I have frequently pointed out that the future belongs to nations with grains and not guns. – M. S. Swaminathan (Indian agronomist and agricultural scientist)

The Geography Department of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, under the guidance of Ms. Sangita Bajpai conducted the Intersection Grain Mosaic Competition based on the theme -The Scenic Landscape, for students of class VIII. It was held on 30th October 2023. The Judges of the event were Ms. Saveri Lal (Biology Department) and Ms. Jatinder Kaur (Art Department). The aim of the competition was to introduce the students to the knowledge of different varieties of grains. The special emphasis was on the use of millets as we are celebrating 2023 as the ‘Year of Millets’. 

11 teams of 2 students each participated in the competition. During the competition the students were asked about the climatic conditions required for different grains and millets they had used.

The overall coordinator for the competition was Ms. Mahima Goel (Geography Department).

GUEST SPEAKER PROGRAMME ON “SCOPE AND RELEVANCE OF FRENCH LANGUAGE”

Delhi Public School R.K. Puram organized a Guest Speaker Programme on “Scope and Relevance of the French language” on 31 October 2023 for the French students of classes VII-VIII in the guidance of Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan. 

The First Guest speaker, Dr. Shubhra Gupta has been teaching French at the School of Global Affairs at Ambedkar University Delhi since the completion of her doctorate in literary translation from Jawaharlal Nehru University. She has a diverse experience of teaching French at various institutes like the School of Foreign Languages of the Ministry of Defence and the Alliance française de Delhi (french institute) where she teaches even now. She is also a certified DELF examiner. Furthermore, she has also worked as a casual translator and announcer for French at All India Radio.

The second Guest speaker, Dr. Anuj Sharma teaches French at Ambedkar University Delhi’s School of Global Affairs as an Adjunct faculty and at the School of Vocational Studies as a Guest faculty. He is also teaching at Alliance Francaise (french institute) in Delhi.  has also taught French at the IIT, Delhi as a Guest Faculty and at Amity University, Noida. Besides teaching French, he has also worked as a casual translator and announcer at the French Unit of All India Radio, Delhi. He has done his doctorate in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is also a certified DELF examiner. 

The Vice Principal and HOD, Foreign Languages Department Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria, subject teachers, and students of classes VII and VIII attended the session. Mr. Kathuria welcomed the guest speakers with a small token of appreciation and addressed the audience with his kind and encouraging words . Ms Gupta and Mr. Sharma conducted a very interactive session. Firstly, they emphasised on the relevance of language and culture through a small quiz session.They talk about presence of french multinational companies in India, India’s strategic partnership with France, DELF examination, scholarships in higher education, presence of french in day to day lives, career opportunities and above all the relevance of taking french in classes IX and X. The entire session was very interactive and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. The session concluded with a Question/Answer  session which was well appreciated by the attendees. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Vaibhav Popli. The event was organized by the French department under the guidance of the Vice Principal, Mr Kathuria with the help of technical support from AVH staff. The programme was a huge success.

Guest Speaker Programme on Prevention of Substance Abuse

The Prahari Club of Delhi Public School, RK Puram, hosted a guest speaker programme for the students of class IX(A-N) on 6th November 2023 on “Prevention of Substance Abuse”. The session aimed to shed light on the critical issue of preventing substance abuse among young individuals. The guest speaker for this event was Ms. Roshini Mehta, a clinical psychologist affiliated with the department of Mental Health and behavioural sciences at Fortis Healthcare Vasant Kunj

The primary objective of this programme was to provide students with comprehensive insight into substance abuse prevention while emphasising the substantial impact of factors such as peer pressure and the pervasive influence of social media. The event commenced with a gracious welcome from the Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, who warmly felicitated Ms. Roshini Mehta.

Throughout the programme, Ms. Roshini engaged the students in insightful discussions on various facets of substance abuse. This included the identification of harmful substances prevalent in society, such as alcohol, marijuana, and heroin. She also made a clear distinction between mere substance use and the more serious issue of substance abuse.

Students were sensitized to the powerful impact of peer pressure, stress, inquisitive curiosity, and the potential pitfalls of misinformation. Ms. Roshini offered a thoughtful examination of addiction, providing a deep understanding of how individuals can unwittingly become entangled in substance abuse.

An essential component of the programme was dedicated to equipping students with essential skills to assertively decline offers of harmful substances, particularly when subjected to peer pressure. The “Broken Record Technique” was introduced as a valuable tool, encouraging students to confidently and resolutely assert their stance by repeating the word ‘NO’ when facing undue peer pressure. Ms. Roshini underscored the importance of surrounding oneself with a supportive and responsible social circle as a protective measure against substance abuse.

The Guest Speaker Programme, facilitated by Ms. Roshini Mehta, left a profound impact on the students of class IX. It was marked by its interactive nature, as students actively participated and freely shared their thoughts and concerns. Ms. Roshini addressed their questions and doubts with patience and clarity, ensuring that every student left with a better understanding of the subject matter.

At the end of the session, a vote of thanks was extended  to Ms. Roshini Mehta for her invaluable contribution to this enlightening and educational initiative.

Annual International Technology Symposium – EXUN 2023

“Technology, like art, is a soaring exercise of the human imagination.” – Daniel Bell 

The Experts Unlimited Clan of DPS RK Puram, better known as the EXUN clan, hosted the 28th edition of its Annual International Technology Symposium on the 4th and 5th of November, 2023. Online events of Exun started on 28th November 2023. Every year, tech wizards from across the map of India assemble at the symposium to hone their skills, test their calibre and create unforgettable experiences.

Commencement of the event was marked by the inaugural lamp lighting ceremony by the  Vice Principals Mr. Anil Kathuria and  Mr. Mukesh Kumar, along with the esteemed guests: Mr. Hitesh Oberoi, Founder of Plaksha University and Mr. Ankur Yadav from Safexpress and teachers of various participating schools. The ceremony featured a video presentation by the EXUN Clan, about the club and their events. In his opening speech Mr. Mukesh Kumar emphasised on the significance of connectivity with like minded tech enthusiasts and importance of ethical aspects of use of technology. The event was  sponsored  by Safexpress, Khul Ke and Plaksha University. PlayStation™ and  Cubelelo® helped in the Gaming and Cubing events. 

The events that constituted the symposium were judged by our alumni of different batches. The events were as follows:

1.Build

  • Hackathon- A classic hackathon which involved participants collaborating in teams to conceive and demonstrate inventive concepts by blending state-of-the-art technologies and exceptional skills. The participants worked together to turn their ideas into reality. This event was judged by Ishir Bhardwaj(2022), Somesh Kar(2022), Akshit Kumar(2021) and Angad Singh(2022). Kavin Valli(2023) judged the event in online mode.
  • Designathon- This event put the problem solving and design thinking skills of the contestants to the test, and provided them with a platform to let their creativity and imagination flourish. This event was judged by Aadya Dhar (2023), Arunima Goyal (2014) and Aviral Goyal (2009).
  • Unreality- Unreality provided the perfect stage for the participants to push their creativity to new heights and delve into the realm of game development. Participants were required to create games on their preferred platform and were welcome to freely use sprites, 3-D models or whatever suited them best. This event was judged by Pulkit Garg (2022) and Vinayak Dhawan (2023) in the online mode.

2. Competitive Programming-  It primarily revolved around tackling challenging algorithmic problems under a designated time constraint. These problems varied in complexity, encompassing straightforward mathematical puzzles to intricate data structure and graph algorithms. Participants were tasked with creating a code that was both efficient and optimised to accurately and swiftly solve each problem. 

3. Sudocrypt- This was a 36-hour multiplayer Cryptic Hunt combined with a Capture-the-Flag challenge. The participants used their wisdom and wit to embark on a digital adventure like no other; they searched for the answers like pirates searching for treasure. 

4.Turing Test- It was a computational linguistics event that required the intellectuals to coincide their minds to explore the ordeal of innovations. The problem patterns were based on the International Olympiad of Linguistics. This event was judged by Vedant Singh of the batch of 2023.

5. Quiz- The Open Quiz was a battle of the sharpest and brightest minds in the ever expanding field of Information Technology (IT). Quiz enthusiasts were given 30 seconds to give answers to various questions stimulating their knowledge. This event was conducted and judged by Angad Singh and Ishir Bharadwaj of the batch of 2022.

6. Crossword- The cryptic crossword was the perfect event to test the participants’ presence of mind, wit and their ‘masterful’ sense of humour. All solutions were directly connected to the realms of computers, technology, renowned tech figures, and pertinent IT terms.


7.  Hardware – In the realm of Information Technology, much like how “Hardware” plays a pivotal role in supporting computer components, this event involved participants competing in a series of rounds that were centred around various tasks relating to different components, software, and networking skills. This event was judged by Somesh Kar (2022) and Aditya Singh (2020).

8. Girls in Tech- Empowered girl participants gathered in an attempt to reshape a primarily male dominated industry. They attended a series of workshops and contributed to redesign the future of technology as they paved the way for a more equitable industry. This event was judged by Aaraiv Sharma of the batch of 2018.

9. Group Discussion – Students assembled for a fruitful discussion and debate of paramount principles and ideas. Using unique arguments, concrete facts and a confident voice with the aim being progress and not only victory, all participants engaged in interesting conversations about the future of technology. This event was judged by Karmanya Singh (2015) and Pratishtha Batra (2023).

10. Surprise –  The surprise event consisted of a series of tasks, the details of which, as the name implies, were shrouded in surprise and were disclosed on the day of the event itself. This event was judged by Aaraiv Sharma (2018) Naunidh Singh Kohli (2023).

11. DomainSquare+ Events

  • Gaming: PC- This was an eye-catching event where fellow gaming enthusiasts competed in a world of digital adventure and proved to be the best amongst the lot.
  • Gaming: Surprise- Another surprise event, which allowed the participants to traverse the realm of gaming and embark on the fascinating journey of possibilities. This event was judged by Naunidh Singh Kohli of the batch of 2023. 
  • Gaming: Quiz- A fun quiz which challenged their ingenuity and tested them with questions from every aspect of gaming knowledge, from the classic titles to the latest trends. This event was judged by Pratyush Vempati of the batch of 2024.

12. CubXL Events

  • 2×2- This event required speed and sharpness. The participants had to orderly scrabble the puzzle with accelerated technique.
  • 3×3- Another arduous event that called for an apprehension of various notations of the given puzzles.
  • Pyraminx- Participants had to procure a good blend of pinpoint memorization and intuition to ace the puzzle they were presented with.This event was judged by Angad Singh of the batch of 2022.
  • Surprise- The Surprise event featured thrilling solves,and unexpected twists leaving cubers amazed and inspired.            

13. Roboknights Events

  • Robosoccer-  Modelled after a very popular sport, this event tested the agility, strategy and teamwork on a specially designed arena. This event was judged by Kshitij Gupta (2021) and Tanmay Singhal (2023).
  • Mx+c V5.0 Line Following Robot- This event provided an exhilarating avenue to explore automation as robots embarked on the challenge of following a predetermined path marked by a visible line on the ground.This event was judged by Bhavya Khandelwal (2019) and Arush Bansal (2020).

The closing ceremony was set in motion with addresses by the Presidents of EXUN Clan, DomainSquare+, RoboKnights, and CubXL where they shared their personal experiences related to the clubs and how their simple hobby turned into a fervent passion. Further on, the vote of thanks was delivered by Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar and he expressed his gratitude to the principal for providing a platform for smooth functioning and encouraging organisation of such events. He also elaborated upon the origins of EXUN Clan, and advised the audience about cyber safety concerns. The event concluded with the presentations of mementos to the Judges composed of alumni of the school and distribution of awards to the winners  by the faculty members of the department of Computer Science.

Run for Unity 2023

October 31 is celebrated as National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas every year in India to commemorate Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. On this day, ‘Run for Unity’ is held across the country. People from all walks of life take part in this event. This year the run “Run for Unity”was held on 31 October at DPS RK Puram. The run started from the assembly area to the football field  of Delhi Public School, R K Puram. Our Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan flagged off the run for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The students of  Class XI of DPS RK Puram participated in the run.

INTER DPS – CHARACTER DEFACTO -2nd POSITION

The DPS Society organized the Inter – DPS English Literary Festival 2023, which took place on 3rd November 2023. Students of Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram participated in the festival enthusiastically and showcased their talents. 

Naira Naqshbandi of class VI – F participated in the online event “Brave New World – Character Defacto”. She portrayed the enchanting journey of Dorothy from the fantastical tale of ‘Wizard Of Oz’, as she explores the magical land of Oz with Toto, and secured second position.

INTER-DPS NATIONAL WESTERN VOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2023

DPS Dwarka organized Inter-DPS National Western Vocal Music Festival 2023 under the aegis of The DPS Society on Saturday, 04 November 2023. Mr B. K. Chaturvedi, Chairman, The DPS Society, Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Vice – Chairman, The DPS Society and Ms Madhu Shunglu were the esteemed guests gracing the occasion. 

Total 627 participants from 76 Delhi Public Schools PAN India participated in the preliminary round of this mega event. For the final round, participants from 20 qualifying schools competed for the coveted trophy. Competitions in both categories, Solo Song and Group Song, were judged by a renowned panel of judges. 

In the Solo Song Competition, Inayat Kaur Bajaj bagged the 2nd position and the choir secured 2nd position in the Group Song Competition.
