Class VII Scholar Badge Ceremony 2026-27

Delhi Public School R.K. Puram hosted the Annual Scholar Badge Ceremony for Class VII on 30th September 2026, celebrating and honouring the remarkable scholastic and co-curricular achievements of its students during the academic year 2025–26. The ceremony celebrated the dedication, perseverance and pursuit of excellence of the students, recognising the many milestones that they had achieved during the year. 

The esteemed Chief Guest for the programme was Professor Vikraman Balaji, Member, Delhi Public School Society. An eminent Indian mathematician and Professor at the prestigious Chennai Mathematical Institute, Professor Balaji completed a doctorate in Mathematics under the guidance of the renowned mathematician Professor C. S. Seshadri. His areas of research include algebraic geometry, representation theory and differential geometry. His outstanding contributions to mathematics have earned him several honours, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Mathematical Sciences in 2006, the J. C. Bose National Fellowship in 2009 and Fellowships of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy.

The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a western musical serenade by the students, showcasing their talent and confidence through artistic expression, which set a celebratory tone for the occasion.

This was followed by the address of Principal Mr Anil Kumar, who welcomed the Chief Guest and expressed his gratitude to Professor Balaji for gracing the occasion. He highlighted the significance of two essential values in life — discipline (sanyam) and consistency, drawing parallels between Sanskrit wisdom and the modern virtues of composure, adaptability and perseverance. He emphasised that these qualities are crucial for navigating the challenges of life with wisdom and resilience. Addressing parents, he emphasised that excellence is a journey, urging them to remain patient and supportive, while congratulating the students who had earned distinction through sustained effort. 

An exhilarating helicopter-themed dance performance was then presented by the students which transported the audience to the picturesque land of Germany, celebrating its rich cultural heritage, music and traditions. 

Thereafter, the much-awaited award distribution ceremony was conducted by the Class VII Representatives, Ms Bharti Shukla and Ms Kriti Mehta. A total of 180 Second Green Badges and 46 First Green Badges were awarded for academic excellence demonstrated by the students.  For achievements in sports and co-curricular activities, 9 Red Ties, 29 Pins, 6 Certificates of Appreciation and 9 Certificates for 100% attendance were presented.  

In his address, Professor Balaji congratulated the awardees and highlighted DPS R.K. Puram’s role in nurturing cultural identity and independent thought. Reflecting on the evolving world and the growing influence of Western models and Artificial Intelligence, he urged students to preserve originality, embrace change thoughtfully, discover their potential and cultivate a strong sense of purpose. 

The Headmistress, Ms Vandana Chandhoke, proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, Professor Vikraman Balaji, for his gracious presence and insightful address. She acknowledged the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, the Vice Principals and school administration for their continued support, and thanked parents for their unwavering faith and encouragement. She concluded by congratulating the young scholars on their outstanding achievements, perseverance and sustained efforts.

The ceremony drew to a solemn and dignified close with a rendition of the National Anthem.
