Vasant Valley- Laissez-Faire Quiz competition

Shikhar Sarangi of Class XII-R secured the third position in the Vasant Valley Laissez-Faire quiz, an event held on 31 July 2020 which saw almost 200 participants compete for the coveted prize. There were two rounds of elimination, which left just 4 schools in the final. The final was conducted in 8 stages. This was one of the first instances of an online quiz conducted through a Zoom meeting.

Plantation Drive

A plantation drive was carried out on 13 August, 2020 at DPS R.K  Puram as a part of the DoE’s Van Mahotsav celebration. Saplings were planted by the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan and the two Headmistresses, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and Ms. Niva Chhonkar. Ms Dimple Menon and Ms. Neelam Ajwani from the biology department organized the plantation drive.

The saplings planted included trees like Guava, Jamun and Pomelo (Citrus maxima), shrubs, like bougainvillea and rose  and herbs like Sansevieria and Periwinkle.

Guest Speaker Programme For Class VIII

Dr. Vartika Mathur, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Sri Venkateswara College conducted this session. She covered various topics during the course of the session like Indirect signs of animal presence and how signs help to identify what animals eat,where animals go,habitats animals use and the space animals need.It was interesting to know how pugmarks of left or right, forelimb/hindlimb can help in determining whether the animal is male  or female

Dr Vartika ensured that all the students were involved and were constantly interacting with her.The session was very informative and interesting.The students thoroughly enjoyed it and gained a lot of knowledge about wildlife conservation through her experience and expertise.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Headmistress Ms. Niva Chhonkar and the programme was organised by Ms. Dimple Menon of the Biology Deptt.

Topic- Sanghursh – A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM 

“Our flag doesn’t fly because the wind moves it. It flies with that last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.”

 The class presented an enthralling class presentation by paying tribute to the great freedom fighters. The presentation was titled “ Sanghursh – A LONG WALK TO FREEDOM ”. To begin the presentation, Yashvi  Gairola sang a melodious prayer followed by the thought for the day by Jasmeet Singh and Kimaya Gupta. A short poem recited by Jai Goel filled everyone’s heart with patriotic spirit. In the end, Rudrankshi Patra sang a melodious patriotic song “As watan ae watan humko teri kasam” for the soldiers who laid down their lives for the sake of our motherland and became immortal.The comperes Ose Gupta, Amvika Bangar, Devansh Simgh, Aadya Singh and Shriya Sawhney helped the performers sail through this inspiring presentation.

Topic- स्वतंत्रता-Our Birth Right

The students of class XII O displayed their patriotism through their morning presentation on 11 August 2020 on the theme स्वतंत्रता -Our birth right. The presentation began by a soulful rendition of the prayer ‘Aye Maalik Tere Bande Hum’ by Nishant Pawa.Then Arushi Agarwal gave a meaningful beginning by the thought for the day. Rupika Gupta expressed her views on independence day.This was followed by a beautiful song transporting you to the sacrifices of our great leaders by Ananya Bateja. Sneha Diwan voiced her opinion on what independence means to her.The presentation was concluded by the vote of thanks proposed by Jasmer Singh. Elisveta and Devisha splashed  colour to the presentation by the E invites. Vinayak as the anchor compiled the entire assembly into a movie.

It makes our heart beat with pride, to see the colors of Independence Day spreading happiness and great joys all around.. May the glory of Independence Day be with all of us  forever. On this special day here’s wishing our dreams of a new tomorrow come true!

Topic- Krishna: Generosity is Thy Name

With Janmashtami as the backdrop, class VIII K based its Presentation on the value of ‘Generosity’ that Lord Krishna’s life exemplifies. Titled ‘Krishna: Generosity is Thy Name’, the presentation commenced with a warm welcome by Devraj Singh that was followed by a soulful prayer ‘Achyutam Keshavam’ sung by Ridhi Kakkar. A very meaningful thought by Sidhi Kakkar introduced the theme and the story of Krishna helping his friend Sudama in the time of need. It was narrated by Shaurya Veer, Rishabh Sharma, Mahik Sharma and Abhinav Dixit with Reyansh Chadha, Chirag Malhotra and Avni in the roles of Krishna, Sudama and his wife respectively. Lord Krishna’s idea of ‘giving’  was reinforced using poetry recited by Siddhi Kakkar, Diptanshu Choradia, Avni Gupta and Vrinda Matreja. The final Powerpoint presentation included the creative work of Shaurya Veer and technological skills of Rihit Wadhwa and Diptanshu Choradia.

Class Presentation XII-H (07-08-2020)

Topic- The only fight you have to win, is the one with yourself

The class presentation of XII H was based on the theme chosen from the Bhagavad Gita- “The only fight you have to win, is the one with yourself.” A befitting tribute to the teachings of Lord Krishna as the nation looks forward to celebrating Janamasthami on the 12th of August 2020. 

The presentation commenced with a warm welcome by Rishika Makwana. The morning prayer -“Shree Krishna Govind Hare Murari” was sung by Shreya Sharma which was followed by the thought for the day by Udit Khattar. Shouryan Singh and Tanya inspired the audience with their musings and emphasised on the fact that, “You won’t encounter freedom if you give in to the fright and sometimes the bravest thing you can do…is to turn on the light.” Anushka Agarwal concluded the presentation with a beautiful rendition of the all time classic song, “Bada Natkhat hai re Krishna Kanhaiya”. The vote of thanks was delivered by Anmol Singh. Bahulya Tandon prepared the google slides. Tanya prepared the e-invites and was responsible for the audio editing and compilation.

Topic- PARSI NEW YEAR – NAVROZE

As the month of August approaches, there is a sense of joy and festivity in the air with a variety of festivals being celebrated in various parts of India. One such festival is the Parsi New Year which the students of Class VII J depicted through their Class Presentation. 

With energetic introductions by Aaliya and Sarthak along with a melodious rendition of the prayer ‘Teri hai zameen, tera aasmaan’ by Manan, the students went on to depict various rituals and traditions of the Parsi New Year (Navroze) through a short aural skit. The thought for the day was presented by Kahini where she talked about how Navroze truly teaches us to cleanse our minds and souls from evil thoughts and renew our spirits with positivity, peace and love. A short self composed poem was recited by Kenisha about how a new year brings with it a new and beautiful hope for the future. The presentation was concluded by Anisha who wished ‘Navroze Mubarak’ to everyone with the hope that the New Year brings happiness, health and prosperity to all.

Class Presentation XI-R (05-08-2020)

Topic- Heart of a Hero

The presentation of Class XI-R was dedicated to the Soldiers of armed forces of India to appreciate and acknowledge all that the soldiers do for our motherland. The Students laid emphasis on the fact that their real Heroes are the Braveheart Soldiers who risk their lives to protect our freedom, it is a selfless act of valour without asking anything in return. The Presentation started with a morning prayer sung by Prekhsha Khate, Jushya Gandotra and Shiven Kumar followed by the thought for the day by Aditi Jain. Anayata Taneja delivered a speech on the topic’ Heart of a Hero’after which Preksha Khate presented a melodious solo song  – ‘Teri mitti..’.Krishna Raj Manglam recited a self-composed poem ‘Ëk Sainik ka Khwab’.Comperes Riya Jain and Kaushal Bothra introduced and concluded the presentation with heart touching and thought-provoking words. Govind Singh Ahluwalia made the E-cards while Krish Gupta contributed in doing all the audio editing, music, track sound etc for the presentation. The presentation ended with a Vote of Thanks and reinforcing the fact that our soldiers deserve to be honoured and appreciated for their selfless service in protecting our nation.

Topic- Human Relationships

On 4th August 2020 at 8.40 am, class IX-L showcased a presentation on Human Relationships i.e. Manviya Rishtey. It began with the introduction by Aditya Tiwary on Human Relations and why they are important in each person’s life. It was followed by a prayer- “Teri hai zameen,tera aasmaan….” sung by Ananya Deep Singh. Gurmani Kaur and Swarnika Bhardwaj further shared their thoughts on Human Relationships in English as well as in Hindi through the Thought for the day. Diya Singhal expressed her beautiful ideas through an English Poem which portrayed that each relationship is important in life whether it is Friendship or a pious bond between a brother and a sister that was celebrated on 03 August as Raksha Bandhan. The presentation was concluded with a speech by Jasnoor Kaur which further enhanced the idea of Human Relationships, the underlying true happiness and motivation to move ahead in life.
