The invigorating march past was followed by the release of colourful balloons declaring the sports meet open by the Chairman and the Principal. She recalled a cherished anecdote from her childhood and narrated the excitement that enveloped her family and friends on the occasion of the Republic Day. She shared how despite the bitter cold weather, she would eagerly watch the contingents march past and wished to join them in this vigorous exercise. The very act of viewing the annual parade, instilled in her a strong sense of patriotism.

On this occasion, she appreciated the joy and efforts showcased by the students during the preparation of the event and elaborated upon the importance of sports and extracurricular activities in the lives of students as they embark on their path to holistic development. The Principal quoted a modern day saying, “Life was so much simpler when apple and blueberry were just fruits” and urged the students to devote their time to academics, sports and other co-scholastic activities so as to maintain a perfect balance between technology and education.

During her speech, students cycled on their motorised bikes showcasing various symbols of performing arts, sports, technology and academics. In the end, she remarked that “failure does not matter” and that the mere act of participation symbolised courage.

The Principal’s speech was followed by the final rounds of various races – 200m race, skipping race, 4×100m relay, sack race and fun race. No matter what you want to achieve in life, determination is the key ingredient that will stand you in good stead every time you set a goal. It has an impact on virtually everything we do, every day, in every aspect of our lives. Even if we are doing something we love, at times success can seem like a real uphill struggle.
