“The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal.”
- Aristotle
The Sociology Department of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised an enriching Guest Speaker Programme for the students of Class XII on 2 June, 2021. The agenda, extremely pertinent to the current scenario, talked about the diverse forms of “Inequalities in India”. Ms. Priya Sharma, an eminent Research Scholar on Sociology and Social Anthropology from IIT, Bombay kindly consented to be the guest speaker for the event.
After an extensive discussion on caste, tribe, gender and disability based differences and inequalities in India, Ms. Sharma catered, very diligently, to all the doubts the participants had and ensured conceptual clarity with regard to the topic. She also gave examples of several successful movements she has personally led in the field and encouraged the students too, to raise their voice against the ever-visible inequalities. The event was made very interactive by the active and enthusiastic participation of all the students. It was coordinated by Ms. Aastha Kochar under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Ms. Rupa Das.
