“A new school year means new beginnings, new adventures, new friendships and new challenges. The slate is clean and a lot can happen.”

Delhi Public School, R.K Puram welcomed its students for complete offline classes on 4th April 2022 after a period of two pandemic-stricken years. The eager and enthusiastic students of Classes VI-VIII were welcomed by their class teachers with beautiful bookmarks and chocolates to start their new school year on a sweet note.

Since the students were coming to school for the first time post pandemic, a school tour was organised for the students under the guidance of the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan and the Supervisor of Classes VI-VIII, Ms Vinita Gupta. The  Class Representatives of Classes VI-VIII, Ms Ekta Arora, Ms Mahima Goel, Ms Nalini Gautam, Dr P Chinna, Ms Vaishali Tiwari and Ms Divya Kapoor, organised the school tours for all the three classes in a staggered manner, following all  COVID protocols and preventive measures. During the tour, the students were escorted by their class teachers and acquainted with the infrastructure of the school campus.

The school tour commenced from the assembly ground and then proceeded towards the football ground wherein the sports coaches introduced the students to the various sports facilities available in the school. The tour then proceeded towards the Sports Complex across the road using the overhead bridge where the students toured the cricket ground, the basketball and lawn tennis courts, the gymnasium and the swimming pool along with a quick tour of the boys hostel.

Post the visit to the Sports Complex, the students were escorted towards the Transport Office, the School Clinic and the E Block wherein they were directed towards the Principal’s Office, the Computer Labs, the Senior Library and the AVH (Audio-Visual Hall). The students then proceeded towards the F Block touring the E-Gurukul, the staffrooms, the Accounts Offices and the classrooms for Class XII. They continued towards the OAT (the Open Air Theatre), the Girls’ Hostel and the HB Block where the classrooms of Class XI are located.

The students were also shown the Junior Library and the D Block where they were told about the Supervisor’s room as well as the Reps’ rooms for Classes VI-VIII. They were then guided towards the Music basement and the Blossoms Block where the classrooms for Class VI are situated. The tour ended with a quick walkabout of the CB Block which has the classrooms for Class VIII and the C, B and A Blocks where the classrooms of Classes IX and X are located.

In conclusion, the school tour was a great success with the students of Classes VI-VIII getting acquainted with the infrastructure of the school campus. It encouraged the students to start the new academic year on a positive note, with hope and motivation in their hearts and the aim to find a home away from home in the school premises.
