The Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class IX Sections H-N was held on 30 November 2017 at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. The students, parents and teachers look forward to this prestigious occasion every year in which students excelling in academics and co-curriculars are awarded.
The ceremony began with the inaugural lighting of the lamp and the school orchestra playing a beautiful symphony.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Ms. Meenakashi Lekhi, a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, New Delhi and the Chairperson of the Committee of Privileges, Lok Sabha, was felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. Dr. P.N. Dogra and Mrs. Dogra, the parents of Armaan Dogra in whose name the Armaan Dogra Memorial Award was instituted, also graced the occasion with their presence. The Vice Principal, Ms. Anita Singh was present for the event.
A film showcasing the various achievements of the school throughout the year was shown and was widely applauded by the audience.
In her welcome address the Principal congratulated the parents and thanked the Chief Guest along with Dr. and Mrs. Dogra for attending the ceremony and motivating the students. She introduced the topic, “Struggle is the essence of success” and through the story about a butterfly’s wings emphasized the importance of struggling to strengthen who you are. She concluded with the famous story about a King and a Boulder, imparting the message, “When you struggle, you are always rewarded at the end.”
The main aim of the cultural programme was to portray that failure is part and parcel of success. The talented dancers of the school gave a scintillating performance. A beautifully performed skit showcasing the journey of various eminent personalities such as Abraham Lincoln and J.K. Rowling through failure and success enthralled the audience. This was followed by a performance by the melodious singers with strong vocals.
The Chief Guest thanked the teachers for their support and encouraged the students to turn adverse circumstances into opportunities. She added that it is important that any negativity in a student’s life is turned into positivity by the parents by encouraging the child to think of the advantages of any situation he may find himself in. She concluded by saying, “Sometimes greatness is imposed on people and sometimes they become great by hardwork. In the end, hardwork is what works.”
The award ceremony was conducted by the Class Representative, Ms. Ritu Kumar. The meritorious students were awarded by the Chief Guest, Dr. and Mrs. Dogra, the Principal and the Vice Principal. The Armaan Dogra Memorial Award for the Best All-rounder was presented to Deepita Singh (IX H).
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Vice Principal, Ms. Anita Singh and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
