The Scholar Badge Ceremony for Class VII Sections G-K was held on 29 November 2017 at Delhi Public School, R.K Puram. The students, parents and teachers look forward to this prestigious occasion every year in which students excelling in both academics and co-curricular activities are awarded.
The ceremony commenced with the inaugural lighting of the lamp. The school orchestra welcomed everyone with a perfect fusion of Indian and western tunes.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Jitendra Paul Khurana, the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Off.) of the University of Delhi and the Director of the University of Delhi, South Campus, was felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra was also present for the occasion.
A short film showcasing the school’s various achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular activities was shown which elicited a loud round of applause.
In her welcome address, the Principal elaborated the topic ‘Celebrating Life’ through anecdotes, conveying the message of finding happiness in life by living it the way it is. She emphasised the importance of putting effort in the right direction in life and concluded her speech by quoting George Bernard Shaw, “Life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself.”
The cultural programme began with a melodious recital by the choir. This was followed by a rendition of Shakespeare’s The Seven Ages and a theatrical performance about having a cheerful disposition and a positive outlook in life. The finale was a passionate dance performance which left the audience mesmerised.
Dr. Jitendra Paul Khurana congratulated the students and parents, and praised the school for its excellent performance which is reaching new heights every year. He encouraged the children to make their own choices in life and ended his speech by highlighting the importance of gaining knowledge, instead of concentrating only on marks.
The Award Distribution Ceremony was conducted by the Class Representative, Ms. Richa Basrao who introduced the awardees. The Chief Guest, the Principal and the Headmistress presented the students with their awards.
The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra proposed the vote of thanks and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
