Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and renowned educationist, said, “ Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be a privilege if 5th September is observed as Teacher’s Day.”
To honour his words, since 1962, India has been celebrating Teacher’s Day on 5th September, his birthday, as a symbol of tribute to the teachers for their contribution in shaping the future of the nation.
The Delhi Government has instituted awards that are given to Delhi teachers for expertise in teaching and involvement in extra curricular activities.
This year DPS R.K. Puram is greatly honoured as two of its teachers have been bestowed with this very prestigious award.
Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Headmistress of Classes 8, 9 and 10 and In Charge of the English Department, Foreign Language Department and the Library is one of the recipients. She is a very senior member of the school faculty and also teaches English to Class XII.
Mrs. Rashmi Malhotra is the Head of the Business Studies Department and has been in the school for more than twenty years.
DPS R. K. Puram is very proud of Ms. Sehgal and Mrs. Malhotra and warmly congratulates them on this achievement.
