TOPIC – “CELEBRATING CHILDHOOD”

The assembly by classes VII E and VII F was a celebration of  fun and the most memorable time in anyone’s life. It’s the first stage of life which we enjoy in whatever way we like. The theme aimed to highlight a child’s innocence and helpful nature. The assembly began with a mesmerizing morning prayer sung by Mitali Bakshi, Kush Singh, Mohd. Adyan, Yuvraj, Grisha Kaushik, Manit Verma, Satvik Gupta, Jatin Badgujar, Lav Singh, Sweta Kumari, Arnav Kalra, Katyayani Chugh, Samia, Junaid Alam, Akshainie Bedi, Abeer Jain, Yashasvi, Aviral Nayyar, Mishka Sah, Kaavyansh, Yugal, Vaibhav Kumar, Vijay, Tanishk, Bansh, Chhavi, Dhuruv Yadav, Ankit Kumar Yadav, Virab, Harjas. A beautiful ‘Saraswati Vandana’ was performed by Grisha Kaushik, Anya Johri, Vamsi Singh, and Maithili Rao. The Thoughts for the Day were presented by Kush Singh, Karman Singh, Ishan Gaur and Priyanshi and the shloka was recited by Viraaj Gupta. The news headlines for the day were read by Devin Jain, Jatin Badgujar, Nishchay Singh and Navya Mehta. Lav Singh, Ayan Alam, Trishala Loonker took turns to recite their self composed poems expressing their thoughts on childhood.

The western choir and instrumental orchestra were performed by Ananya Sud, Lavika Kaur, Junaid Alam, Katyayani Chugh, Gurleen Kaur, Iris Ahlawat, Ayan Alam, Zikra Suhail, Adya Khanna, Mohd. Adyan, Archisa, Chaahat Jain, Devin Jain, Akshainie Bedi, Sabreen Kaur, Tushar Khandelwaal, Vaanya Sharma, Saara Puri, Saanvi Sawhney, Navya Nandini, Navya Mehta, Nishchay Singh, Ishan Gaur, Aahaan Hiten Kalra, Trishala Loonker, Samridhi Bhargava and Zoya Kaur Bhatia. Thereafter, the energy of the stage was taken a notch higher by western dance and hula hoop performances by Aadya Gupta, Pragya Singhania, Mitali Bakshi, Adya Khanna, Arin Jha, Kaavyansh, Saanvi Singh Pawar, Pusan, Sabreen Kaur and Kiara Arora. To illustrate the theme, Arav Mukherjee, Ashray Kaushik, Akshainie Bedi, Shimja, Advit Gupta, Viraaj Gupta, Ishan Gaur and Nishchay Singh performed a skit showcasing an important phase of childhood i.e. school life. Through these performances, they conveyed the message that childhood is the golden period of life in which we can teach children everything. Speech was delivered by Tushar Khandelwaal on the occasion of Republic day.

The comperes of the programme were Aniket Agrawal, Shimja, Saanvi Verma, Vivaan Shrivastav and Mishka Sah. The script for the assembly was written by Arav Mukherjee, Ashray Kaushik, Shimja, Akshainie Bedi, Aniket Agrawal, Saanvi Verma, Vivaan Shrivastav and Mishka Sah. The folders and handmade invites were made by Katyayani Chugh, Ananya Sud, Shimja, Vaanya Sharma, Samridhi Bhargava, Sabreen Kaur and Saanvi Singh. The board for the assembly was made by Zikra Suhail, Vamsi Singh, Lavika Kaur, Shimja, Ananya Sud, Saanvi Sawhney, Samridhi and Saanvi Singh. The Digital presentation was made and operated by Arav Mukherjee, Kanishq Bhardwaj, Ishaan Shrivastav and Pragyan. E-invite was made by Aahaan Hiten Kalra.

PARTITION HORRORS REMEMBRANCE DAY

On 14 August 2023 DPS RKPuram observed the “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day,” dedicated to commemorating the tragic events and human suffering during the partition of India in 1947. This solemn occasion aimed to educate students about the historical significance of the partition and its impact on millions of lives.

Photowalk was organized by the Digex Club of DPS RKPuram, where the Principal, students and teachers, and staff members gathered to pay their respects and reflect on the past.

The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day served as a poignant reminder that history must not be forgotten. By delving into this painful chapter of our past, students gained a deeper understanding of the consequences of communal strife and the importance of fostering harmony and tolerance in society. The event encouraged critical thinking, empathy, and cross-cultural understanding among our students.

The Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was a somber yet enlightening experience that allowed our school community to reflect on the past, learn from history, and promote unity and understanding. By acknowledging the pain and suffering of the partition, we strive to build a more compassionate and inclusive society for future generations.

Republic Day Celebrations 2024

DPS RK PURAM CELEBRATES REPUBLIC DAY 2024

On January 26, 2024, Delhi Public School RK Puram observed Republic Day. In the presence of students, Vice Principals Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kathuria, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar,  Head of Security Ms. Sangeeta Rana, Activity Incharges, and Ms. Preeti Pratihari and Ms. Kaveri Dhar, Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan hoisted the Tricolor in the Open Air Theatre, along with the support personnel of DPS RK Puram, Mr. N. Suresh, Head of Physical Education, Girls Hostel Wardens Ms. Arti Tripathi, Ms. Shruti Gupta, Boys Hostel Wardens Mr. Mohitendra Dey, Mr. Arani Baksi, and Mr. Sanjay Shirsat. Everyone in attendance sang the National Anthem as flowers dropped from the unfolded flag. 

On this important day, the teachers, support staff, and students made a commitment to preserve the Indian Constitution at all times, headed by the principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan. She reminded us that, as the biggest democracy in the world, it is our duty to celebrate the variety that makes this country so special. Speaking to the children, the principal emphasized that they should protect their innate freedom and use it to advance society since they would be future citizens of this nation. Students from both hostels were given the opportunity to come forward and speak their mind about Republic Day and India as a country.

Guest Speaker Programme for Class IX

A Guest Speaker Programme was organised for the students of class IX on the 18th of January 2024 during the 3rd and 4th periods. The distinguished guest, Dr. Deepak Ghuliani, Professor and Unit Head of Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College, was felicitated at the commencement of the compelling programme. The felicitation was gracefully conducted by Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, Headmistress of classes IX and X, and Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Head of the Department of Biology. The seamless organisation of the session was skillfully orchestrated by Ms. Dimple Menon

The primary objective of the session was to inspire students to explore the subject, Biology and contemplate a career in medicine. Dr. Ghuliani, in his discourse, deftly addressed prevalent misconceptions about biology, emphasising its practical applications and dispelling myths that may dissuade students from pursuing the subject in future.

During the session, he highlighted the dynamic nature of biology, emphasising on its role as a practical guide for thriving and surviving. Using visual aids, Dr. Ghuliani demonstrated how complex biological concepts could be effectively communicated, making the subject more accessible and engaging.

Beyond the academic discourse, Dr. Ghuliani emerged as a mentor, encouraging students to find joy in the learning process. Drawing from personal anecdotes, he underscored the significance of curiosity in mastering subjects, particularly in the intricate field of Biology.

Furthermore, Dr. Ghuliani emphasised that a medical degree opens up diverse career opportunities. He highlighted that individuals with a background in medicine can venture into various fields, showcasing the versatility of the profession.

Acknowledging the prevailing stress in various professions, Dr. Ghuliani navigated the discussion towards the inevitable impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on employment. He emphasised that while AI might make certain professions obsolete, the field of medicine stands resilient and irreplaceable. Despite technological advancements, the unique role of a doctor, marked by empathy and human connection, cannot be replicated by AI.

In conclusion, Dr. Deepak Ghuliani’s guest speaker programme not only inspired students to delve into the world of Biology and consider medicine as a profession but also provided valuable insights into the evolving landscape of professions, stressing on the irreplaceable role of a doctor in the face of technological advancements.

GUEST SPEAKER PROGRAMME SESSION – CLASS X – JANUARY 2024

A career counselling and guidance session, for the students and parents of class X, was conducted by DPS RK Puram on 24 January 2024. The resource person, Mr. Jitin Chawla was welcomed and felicitated by the Headmistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra.

Mr. Chawla guided the parents about the various universities and courses – both present and upcoming. The discussion on various subject combinations available to the students and their viability with respect to various universities and specializations captured the parents’ interest. The insights into the job market and its requirements formed an important part of this discussion.

The session was interactive with parents asking questions and pitching in. Their queries were answered in depth by the resource person. The session culminated with a vote of thanks by Ms. Kanika Madan.

GUEST SPEAKER PROGRAMME SESSIONS,  CLASS IX

Session I
An interactive career counselling session for the students of class 9 was conducted by DPS RK Puram on 26 December 2023. The resource team from Allen Institute of Education which consisted of Mr. S M Raza, Mr Divik Jain and Ms. Monika Yadav, guided the students regarding the “Role of Standardised Tests in College Admissions”. The students attended the workshop enthusiastically and asked relevant questions to enhance their knowledge. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Akshita Luthra.

Session II
A session on the “Art and Science of Personal Brand Building” was organised on 28th December 2023 by Mr Ashwin Malik for students of class 9. The session emphasised upon how one can craft their own personal brand and be champion of change. Mr. Malik highlighted the essentials of a strong personal brand by ‘uncovering our why’, ‘carving out our niche’ and ‘multiplying their impact’. Students enthusiastically participated in the discussion and were able to understand the power of a personal brand by discovering and honing one’s natural talents.

On 23rd January of 2024, class VII H and VII I presented their assembly on the topic “Shaheed Diwas”. The assembly began with a morning prayer “Ae Malik Tere Bande Hum” sung by Arjun, Chitrarth, Jayssh, Piyush, Raj, Rhythm, Sarvagya, Shaunak, Taksh, Prem, Veda, Siddharth, Viraj, Kiara B, Kiara C, Kiara N, Myrah, Ishita, Ranya, Shirali, Radha, Vidhi, Anshika, Rudraksh, Ranbir, Imaad, Ishika, Ayaan and Arnesha followed by a Shiv Vandana performed by Amayra Valecha and Shanaya Gupta. Thought for the day was presented by Radha, Snehansh, Parisa and Taksh. An update on daily news was given by Shaarav Vazirani, Aarav Chopra, Shaunak and Jai.

The choir was performed by Aaradhya, Aniruddha, Antara, Parisa, Jai, Kiara, Vedanshi, Misha, Taksh, Rajveer Singh, Aditya, Kiara c, Ishika, Arnesha, Prithvi, Shiralli, Ranya, Ranbir, Rudraksh, Veda, Kiara B, Vidhi, Radha, and Myrah. The skit was a memoir of our martyrs and was enacted by Aniruddha, Avirath, Ayaan, Dev, Rajveer Singh Gulati, Samar, Taksh, Veer, Rajveer Budhraj, Aariv, Aaditya D, Agasthya, Ainesh, Aman, Kiara B, Manish, Veda, Vidhi, Shauryvir, and Sumit. Shaurya and Taksh recited a self-composed poem. The military dance in contribution to our respected freedom fighters was presented by Shirali, Ranya, Shanaya, Noor, Rishi, Aditya T, Snehansh, Shaarav, Viraj, Aarav, Aaditi, Tamanna, Rabiya and Kishteena. The comperes for the assembly were Amayra Valecha, Rishi Sabharwal, Vivaan Gupta and Avyukt Mittal. The digital presentation was prepared by Amayra Valecha, Adhiraj Purohit and Veda Chawla. The soft board was made by Aditya T, Mukul, Tamanna, Gouri and Aastha.

The session highlighted the benefits of choosing a specific subject along with its course structure, examination pattern and career aspect. The students and parents found the session beneficial as it addressed many queries which they had.

This Office Order has been cancelled and may be treated as recalled.

However, it is further informed that the school will continue to function as per the timings communicated vide previous Office Order dated 14.01.2024 in physical mode till further communication in the matter.  The timings are again furnished below for information :

For the students of Nursery to Class V at DPS East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar  From 10:00 am to 1.30 pm.

For the classes VI to XII  From 9:00 am to 2:40 pm.

TOPIC – “HONESTY- THE MORAL COMPASS”

It is rightly said that “The virtue of honesty requires more than just telling the truth”. To celebrate the ideals of honesty culminated by not just being honest but being sweet, nice, loving, caring and respectful towards one and all, Classes VI F and VI K came together to invoke uprightness within ourselves with their Class Assembly on ‘Honesty- The Moral Compass’. The event commenced with an ardent prayer sung by Aarav Gupta, Aryaman Singh, Jaskabir Singh Sethi, Palaksha Tiwari, Pragnay Mathur, Aarav, Aayush Nand Kumar, Abhiraj Sharma, Bhuvnesh, Isha Raj, Krishna Kumar Singh, Medhansh Bisht, Saadyant Kaushal, Shiv, Suraj Kumar Singh and Vansh Wadhwa. Tabla was played by Balpreet Singh. This was followed by the performance of Shiv Vandana by Navya Singh, Aanya Sinha and Saima Bhatia.This was followed by the recitation of the Sanskrit Shlok and its meaning by Pranay Sinha and Utkarsh Thakur. Arnav Mehra, Abraham William, Ridhaan Anand and Vihaan Kumar shared the thoughts for the day. The news bulletin was read by Shanzay Khan, Anand Kumar, Reeshan Yadav and Achintya Arya.

In order to understand the importance of honesty in day to day life, an insightful skit was presented by Sravya Sri Nerusu, Naira Naqshbandi, Simrat Kumar, Khanak Soni, Leonit Rajora, Agastya Vashishth It was followed by a self composed poem by Simona Ghosh. After this the western song was sung by Agastya, Alvira Mayal, Anand Kumar, Hunar Sachdeva, Juyoung Jang, Myra Gupta, Ojasvi Sareen, Rishi, Shanzay Khan, Shoaib Affanul Haque, Yuvraj Sharma, Atharv Sharma, Ayush Lama, Dhruv Maheshwari Nahar and Naisha Mittal. Keyboard was played by Amay Sekhri and Mrinaal Mehta. Drums were played by Naman Sethi.

A fusion dance artform was gracefully performed by Aashi Gupta, Pari, Tamanna, Shanaya Aggarwal, Himanshi, Janisha Mahajan, Kavya, Manvi Kohli and Ridhaan Anand.

The comperes of the programme were Nivaan Ahuja,Aarna Kumar, Shanaya Chhibber, Aaryan Gaur, Naisha Mittal and Veer Bhatiani. The soft board, folders and invitation cards for the assembly were made by Hunar Sachdeva, Khanak Soni, Naira Naqshbandi, Ojasvi Sareen, Shanaya Aggarwal, Shanaya Chhibber, Simrat Kumar, Pari, Tamanna, Pranay Sinha, Saadyant Kaushal and Utkarsh Thakur.
