Advocating Climate Change Over Economic Growth

DPS RK Puram participated in an Oxford-style Conventional Debate hosted by TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) SAAS (School of Advanced Studies) on April 22, 2026. The TERI School of Advanced Studies is a higher education institute that specializes in the field of sustainable development. A team of two students- Vagisha Swasti- XII V and Shah Ibrahim- XII U participated in the event and emerged as the BEST TEAM in the competition. As a team, they received a cash prize of Rs. 4000/-. Vagisha won the award for the Second Best Speaker for her well-crafted and articulated speech.  

Around eight schools across other DPS branches – DPS Rohini, DPS Dwarka, DPS Faridabad, and others contested on This House believes that economic growth should not be compromised to reduce heat-related climate impacts, a topic that deserves thoughtful insights from the responsible citizens of the world on the auspicious Earth Day. 

Moving towards victory, Step by Step…….

DPS RK Puram participated in the SBS Debate, hosted by Step by Step School, Noida. The event was scheduled from April 15-17, 2026. A team of three students – Kavin Chaudhary- XII V, Ananya Datta- XII K and Aanveek Vatsa- XII A, represented our school. Ananya Datta bagged the FIRST BEST SPEAKER award. 

Seventeen schools from Delhi- NCR participated in this prestigious event that tested the oratorial and analytical skills of the enthusiastic debaters who desired to mould the world according to their arguments.  The preliminary round comprised of five Asian Parliamentary debate sessions, where we emerged with the highest speaker points and qualified for the semi-finals. Kavin Chaudhary was awarded the Third Best Speaker. 

The judges applauded the arguments of our ebullient speakers as they confidently glided through their arguments and rebuttals. Schools like Mothers’ International, Vasant Valley, Lotus Valley International, The Khaitan School, Tagore International, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya contested in the competition, making this event a memorable one.

Earth Day Celebration 2026

The Students of Delhi Public School, RK Puram celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April, 2026 on the theme “Our Power Our Planet” in the Red Granite Area and OAT across a spectrum of activities that focused on raising awareness on environmental consciousness towards our planet.The event was graced by our esteemed principal Mr. Anil Kumar, Vice-Principals Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria, Mr. Mukesh Kumar,  Headmistress (IX-X) Dr. Aubha Gopal, Incharge (VI-VIII) Ms. Vandana Chandhok and the teachers from different departments. 

The day commenced with a plantation drive that exemplified dedication to environmental consciousness. The entire student fraternity took the pledge to protect the planet. Class VI students showcased models “From Junk – Genius” and prepared earth day badges. Class VII students presented a classical dance on “Panchtatava” showcasing the power of air, water, fire, earth and the sky. Students of class VIII presented a Nukkad Natak on reducing single use plastic. The students of class IX presented an interactive soft board on individual practices that can protect the earth while the students of class X prepared eco-posters and slogans. Class X choir highlighted the need to preserve water and soil for life to flourish. Class XI portrayed the story of the earth while class XII students showcased the theme “Our Power, Our Planet” and took the lead in the plantation drive of endemic medicinal plants.

Ms. Sangita Bajpai, the coordinator of the Department of Geography along with members viz. Ms. Mahima Goel, Ms. Deeksha Gupta, Ms. Swati Uppal, Ms. Surabhi Gaur, Ms. Divya Kumari & Ms. Meera Raghav inspired the students and facilitated  in making the event a great success. This celebration mobilized the school community towards carrying forward the principle of collective responsibility for a resilient and sustainable future.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT MOCK EVACUATION DRILL 

A Disaster Management Mock Evacuation Drill was conducted on 7th April, 2026 for students of Classes VI to XII within the school premises. The drill was organized under the able guidance of the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, and carried out with the coordinated efforts of Vice Principals, Headmistress and Incharge (VI-VIII), Class Representatives, teachers, security personnel, and support staff.

The objective of the drill was to acquaint students and staff with emergency evacuation procedures, exit routes, and safe assembly practices in case of any hostile situation.

The attendance of class VI – XII for the drill was 3547/4384.The total staff attendance was 376 out of 417, including teaching, administrative, hostel, estate, transport, security, and housekeeping staff.

The drill commenced with the hooter alarm, following which students were evacuated in a disciplined and orderly manner under the supervision of teachers. They proceeded through designated exit routes and assembled at their respective open assembly points as per the colour-coded evacuation plan. The entire evacuation process was completed in approximately 9 minutes.

A headcount was conducted at the assembly area to ensure the safety and accountability of all students. After the successful completion of the drill, students returned to their classrooms in an organized manner following official announcements. They were also briefed about the evacuation routes and safety measures to be followed during an actual emergency.

The drill was conducted in strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DOE). A post-drill debriefing session was held to evaluate the effectiveness of the exercise and to identify areas requiring improvement.

The drill was efficiently coordinated by the Disaster Management Coordinator, Ms. Sangita Bajpai.

The mock evacuation drill was conducted successfully and fulfilled its objective of enhancing preparedness and awareness among students and staff. With the suggested improvements, future drills can be made more efficient and impactful.

School Safety and Community Awareness Programme on Disaster Management

A School Safety and Community Awareness Programme on Disaster Management was organised by the Department of Geography at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram on 16th April 2026, from 10:20 am to 12:45 pm in the Audio Visual Hall.

The programme was conducted by Mr. Chander Prakash from District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and Mr. Hardeep from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) with their respective teams. The team was welcomed by the esteemed principal Mr. Anil Kumar.

The session was attended by students of Classes VIII and XI, accompanied by around 40 staff members. The primary objective of this initiative was to  raise awareness amongst students and staff members about disaster preparedness, safety measures, and the importance of community engagement in handling emergency situations effectively.

The team conducted live demonstrations and practical sessions, providing valuable knowledge on handling emergencies such as the following:

  • Earthquake preparedness
  • Fire Hazards
  • Rescue and evacuation of the injured 
  • Methods to control bleeding in different parts of the body
  • Rapid casualty assistance using available resources to make a stretcher 

Students showed great enthusiasm and actively participated as volunteers during the demonstrations. The trainers also discussed basic rescue operations and emphasised spreading awareness among family members and the community.

The event was graced by the Vice Principal Mr Naresh Miglani and Incharge (VI-VIII) Ms. Vandana Chandoke. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sangita Bajpai, Coordinator Department of Geography. 

Overall, the programme was informative, engaging, and highly beneficial, helping students gain essential life-saving skills and awareness about disaster management.

Assembly XII-N & XII-O (22-04-2026)

TOPIC: “PEACE”

The students of Class XII-N and O presented a graceful and thought-provoking assembly, themed “The Moment We Became One Side”, highlighting the essence of peace, unity, and harmony. Through a series of well-curated performances, the students conveyed a powerful message of rising above differences and embracing togetherness.

The assembly commenced with a serene Morning Prayer performed by Aanya, Aarav, Agastya, Arnav K., Ayush, Daksh, Devika, Divya, Harshil A., Meet, Mrinank, Naman, Nehan, Prisha, Ramya, Reyanssh, Rudraksh, Selvi, Sivkan, Tavishi, Vanshika Y., and Vidit, creating a calm and reflective atmosphere. This was followed by a soulful Shiv Stuti performed solo by Abhishree, invoking a deep sense of devotion and inner peace. The Thought for the Day, presented by Kashvi, Arnav M., and Rudraksh, inspired the audience to value compassion and unity. The news updates were confidently delivered by Kanishk, Anish, and Kritin, keeping everyone informed and engaged. The spiritual ambience was further elevated by a shloka recital by Anisha and Gauravee, followed by a heartfelt self-composed poem recited by Ashvik, beautifully capturing the journey towards togetherness. 

An insightful speech by Sanjolee and Prisha reinforced the importance of harmony, understanding, and collective strength. The skit enacted by Kashvi, Uday, Aditya S., Mayank, Saanvi, Shresht, and Aarav effectively portrayed the transition from division to unity, leaving a strong impact on the audience. The choir performance by Sivkan, Saisha, Ramya, Aarav O., Aryaveer, Harshil, Meet, Divyam, Anya, Kshirja, Aadya, Daman, Reyaan, and Advika added depth and emotion, echoing the message of standing together. The vibrant dance performances by Divya, Vidit, Abhishree, Tiara, Prisha, Gaurika, Vaishnavi, Ishika, Divit, Lakshmi, and Arshiya beautifully symbolized peace, expression, and harmony.

The assembly concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by the Vice Principal’s address, the School Anthem, and the National Anthem. The programme was seamlessly compered by Vrinda, Keya, Divyansh, Tanya, and Prakhar. Overall, the assembly reflected the creativity, dedication, and collaborative spirit of the students of Class XII-N and O, leaving a lasting impression on all present.

Assembly X-I & X-J (21-04-2026)

TOPIC: “PEACE”

On April 21 2026, class XI and X J presented an assembly on the topic “Peace”. It emphasized that true harmony is not the absence of conflict but the ability to handle it with understanding, patience, and empathy. It highlighted how peace begins within individuals and grows through thoughtful actions, responsible choices, and respect for others in everyday life.

The assembly began with a prayer led by Navya N, Poorab D, Riyanshi, Saanvi V, Sanika, Siddhi, Aashman, Amaya, Ahmed, Anishka, Anshika G, Anvaya, Arav, Fatima, Harshdeep, Hrida, Hriday, Kriday, M. Arhaan, Neeva, Pihu, Prateet, Ridaan, Saisha, Tahira, Viihaan, and Zaid, followed by a vandana by Saanvi V and Anshika G. Speeches will be delivered by Ashna, Trishala, Naisha, and Veer C, with news from Vedant, Ishaan, Arav, and Utsaav, and thoughts & quotes shared by Arnav, Saisha, Neeva, Prakhar, Adeesh, Divij, Samriddhi, Zoya, Hriday, Kriday, and Viihaan.

The creative showcase includes a skit by Kanav, Satvik, Tushar, Garvitt, Pihu, and Ruhaan, alongside a choir featuring Ananya S, Arnav, Navya M, Reyansh, Anishka, Anshika K, Apeksha, Fatima, Inayat, Hrida, Neeva, Sansita, Reeya, Riddhi, Tahira, and Vir J. The skit began with a classroom conflict emerging between two students, wherein their peers intervened. The students’ words inflicted self-reflection on the disagreement. The narrative drew inspiration from history, through the characters of historians, and connected it to present-day situations through news and food for thought. Through dance, and music as they enter the music basement, the characters learn how emotions can be guided constructively rather than leading to conflict. The performance concluded with reconciliation between characters, emphasizing that peace is a conscious choice. The skit ended with this message in unison: “Peace begins with me.”

Dance performances were staged by Aarna, Ananya R, Aurica, Kavyaansh, Kiara, Pusan, Saara, Sabreen, Amaya, Anushka, Dia, and Inayat, with Rohan and Sonit on guitar. Organization and credits go to Sabreen, Saanvi S, Anshika G, Neeva, and Saisha for folders and invites, Saisha and Tushar for the digital presentation, Amaya for the e-invite, and a team including Anishka, Fatima, Hrida, Naisha, and Tahira for the board design.

Infinitus Reus 2026

“Curiosity is the engine of achievement”

The Quizzing Club of DPS R.K. Puram hosted the 7th edition of Infinitus Reus on 18th April 2026. Established in 1983, the club continues to uphold its legacy as one of the most distinguished and dynamic clubs in the school, even after 43 years of excellence. With numerous accolades to its name, the Quizzing Club has consistently fostered curiosity, intellect, and a spirit of healthy competition among students.

Infinitus Reus stands as a quiz like no other, an event where some of the brightest young minds come together to engage in a battle of wits. Known for its innovative formats and intellectually stimulating questions, the quiz promises an unforgettable experience for all participants.

This one-day quizzing extravaganza tested the intellect of hundreds of students from across Delhi-NCR. This year, students from 73 schools participated enthusiastically, showcasing their critical thinking skills and ability to tackle challenging questions. The event featured a Senior Quiz for students of Grades IX–XII, centered around the theme FLAMES—Food, Fashion, Literature, Art, Music, Entertainment, and Sports and was conducted across three rounds: Prelims, Semi-finals, and Finals.

The opening ceremony began with the felicitation of the eminent Quiz Masters, Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya and Mr. Deepak Kashyap, by the Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar. This was followed by a vibrant and engaging dance performance that set the tone for the exciting competition ahead.

The event was hosted by renowned quizmaster Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya, a multifaceted personality and an expert in the field of quizzing. With over 500 quizzes conducted across 17 years, his charismatic presence and engaging style of questioning added immense energy to the event, making it even more captivating for participants and the audience alike.

Following a highly competitive preliminary round, several schools qualified for the semi-finals. From these, only seven school teams advanced to the final round, where they competed with great passion and determination to emerge as winners.

The event concluded with the Valedictory Ceremony, graced by the esteemed presence of the Principal Sri Anil Kumar, Vice Principal Mr. Mukesh Kumar, and the Quiz Masters, Mr. Arindam Bhattacharya and Mr. Deepak Kashyap. The results were formally announced, and the winners were felicitated amidst great applause. A heartfelt vote of thanks marked the successful conclusion of yet another remarkable edition of Infinitus Reus.

Assembly X-F (17-04-2026)

TOPIC: “PEACE”

The morning assembly on the theme “Not everything needs a reaction-choose Peace” was conducted with great enthusiasm and meaningful participation by the students. The assembly began with Zikra inviting everyone for the morning prayer, sung by Grisha, Mohammad Adyaan, Manav, Akshat, Aaditi, Aditya, Anahita, Anuj, Bansh, Chitrarth, Havish, Hitesh, Rhythm, Rudrakshi, Samia, Shweta, Tamanna, Tanishq, Vamsi, Viraj, followed by Aditri requesting the respected Headmistress, Dr. Anubha Gopal, to lead the prayer. The address by the Headmistress set a thoughtful tone for the day.

The main presentation started with a skit introduced by narrators Kushagra and Rajveer, who highlighted the importance of inner peace. The assembly invoked positivity through a Ganesh Vandana performed by Aditri, Samia, Saatvika and Aanya. The “Thought for the Day” was presented by Raj Arnav, Ritika and Rabiya. The news was read by Riddhi, Manit, Ankit, and Samia.

The skit, narrated further by Aadinath and Rajveer, portrayed a realistic situation of misunderstanding among students—Aaradhya, Hridhan, Arjun and Rhythm—caused by a misinterpreted post. Through guidance from the teacher (played by Zikra), the students realised their mistake and understood that assumptions can disturb peace. The skit concluded with an important message about communication, patience, and understanding. A meaningful poem on peace was recited by Havish, Samar, and Manit, emphasizing that peace is a conscious choice. The performance ended on a positive note with students apologizing and resolving their conflict.

The assembly continued with a melodious choir performed by Grisha, Rudrakshi, Samia, Anahita, Ritika, Mohammad Adyaan and Havish, followed by an energetic dance performance by Saisha, Grisha,Riddhi and Gouri, which expressed emotions of peace through rhythm and movement.

The assembly concluded with a vote of thanks by Zikra and Aditri, who expressed gratitude to the Principal Mr. Anil Kumar, Headmistress Dr. Anubha Gopal, parents, class representative Ms.Rituraj, teachers including Hamid Sir, Leimi Sir and Anamika Ma’am, activity In-charge Ms. Preeti Pratihari, Class Teacher Ms. Surbhi Gupta and AVH support staff for their guidance, support and help.

The program ended with the school anthem and the national anthem, leaving the audience with a strong message that peace begins within and grows through understanding. Folders and invites for the assembly were prepared by Saisha, Grisha and Zikra. Soft board was done by Vamsi, Rudrakshi, Shweta and Ritika. Digital  presentation and e-invite was prepared by Ankit, Atharv, Kushagra and Rajveer.

Assembly XII-B & XII-D (16-04-2026)

TOPIC: “PEACE”

The morning of 16th April 2026 witnessed a Class Assembly presented by Classes XII-B and XII-D on the theme “Inner Peace Comes with Positive Thinking.” The assembly highlighted the importance of self-awareness, emotional balance, and inner calm in a world often filled with comparison, stress, and conflict.

The assembly began with a morning prayer sung by Ojas Thapliyal, Aviral Agrawal, Uddhav Shankar Oberoi, Siddharth Srivastava,Alekhit Singh,Yatharth Kothari, Atharv, Anika Kumbhat, Aryaveer Singh, Kamakshi, Gitanya, Lakshman, Aman, Vaidehi, Avechal, Navya, Ayesha, Aishwarya and Ansh followed by a classical dance performance by Aadya Menon, Tisha Verma and Pranavi Kapoor which set a reflective tone for the programme. Then the Vice Principal welcomed everyone with morning prayer.

This was followed by a theatrical presentation that included a skit presented by Pranavi Kapoor,Pranjai Shah, Manan Varshney, Kabir Mehta, Uddhav Shankar Obhroi, Myra Kang, Ojas Thapliyal, Nawfal Ahmad, Lisa Choudary, Ritika Karotiya, Divisha Garg and Aashi. To illustrate the theme, a skit was performed showcasing relatable situations such as peer comparison, inner conflict between heart and mind, family disagreements, and everyday school arguments. Through these scenes, the skit conveyed that peace is not something given by external factors, but something that comes from calming one’s thoughts and choosing understanding over reaction.
