We at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram are proud and pleased to announce that our student Jemima Khan of Class XII has been on behalf of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and under the patronage of Maestro Zubin Mehta been invited to perform on the Violin with the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir. Jemima will perform at the Royal Concert Hall at Glasgow, St. James Palace at London and the Marlborough House, London; as part of the build-up to the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014. It is indeed a rare honor!
Jemima has trained since the age of four and has completed her advanced level exams both in theory and practical from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, London. She has won several scholarships to attend workshops and participate in concerts in India and Europe. Since her initial years at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram Jemima has been an all – rounder, contributing in various activities and bringing laurels to the school. She enthralled the audience as a toddler speaker in the ‘First Child Summit in 2003’, in the presences of the then President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam along with other leading politicians, thereafter representing the school as a speaker for various events and occasions in India and abroad. She has represented the school for exchange programmes and conferences in Japan and Ukraine and made presentations on issues concerning the youth and development. She has been the ‘Vice Head Girl’ in the Junior School and in Class X has been member of the ‘Student Council’.
In 2013 she was awarded a scholarship along with round trip airfare to attend a four-week course on ‘Environmental and Earth Sciences’ at Stanford University in California, USA. For Jemima contributing to society is an ongoing commitment! She has worked with drug addicts, truck drivers and AIDS patients and has made documentaries on “Drug addiction in today’s youth” and the “Difficulties in the lives of Indian Truck Drivers”. Jemima is multi-facetted, multi-talented, having a balanced, compassionate and mature personality, a reliable, simple and wonderful human being.
