INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2026

“Leadership is the art of turning responsibility into action and vision into reality.”

The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School RK Puram took place on 21 October 2026. It marked the formal conferring of responsibilities upon the newly elected Student Council, symbolising the beginning of a new chapter of leadership for the academic session 2026–2027.

The school was deeply privileged to welcome the honourable Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society; the esteemed Guests of Honour, Smt. Madhu Shunglu and Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Senior Consultant in Mental Health at Moolchand Hospital. The event was also attended by the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals, Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kathuria and Ms Rashmi Malhotra; the Headmistresses, Dr Anubha Gopal and Ms Vandana Chandhoke and Mr Ajay Goel, Head, Academics, IBDP.

The programme commenced with traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the esteemed dignitaries which was followed by a visit to the Wellness Centre. Thereafter, the Indian Choir delivered a soulful and melodious symphony, evoking a sense of inner harmony and setting a serene and contemplative tone for the morning.

In his address, the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the philosophy underpinning the Wellness Centre, rooted in the harmonious balance of the three Hs—the Head, the Heart and the Hand. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a balance between the three and nurturing intellectual growth, emotional well-being and practical skills to foster the holistic development of every student.

The thematic cultural presentation, titled ‘Echoes of the Gita’, was then presented which vividly brought to life a moment of deep philosophical reflection.

The thematic presentation, ‘Echoes of the Gita’, portrayed Arjuna’s inner conflict on the battlefield of the Mahabharata and Lord Krishna’s timeless wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita. Set just before the monumental war, it portrayed Arjuna standing on the battlefield not merely as a warrior, but as a human being torn between fear and duty. As Arjuna’s hands trembled and his heart faltered, Lord Krishna imparted eternal wisdom through the Bhagavad Gita—giving him spiritual clarity rather than weapons. The presentation  highlighted the values of duty, courage and righteous action, reminding the audience that life presents each individual with an inner battlefield which we have to overcome.

In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu, urged the students to step across the threshold of leadership with humility, purpose, and responsibility. He emphasized that dedication and integrity are not merely abstract values, but the core principles that build future leaders and strengthen the nation.

The highlight of the programme was the Badge Ceremony and the formal installation of the newly appointed Student Council. The members of the Student Council from Classes VI to XI, the IB Diploma cohort, the Sports Presidents, the Hostel Council, the Student Council Presidents and the Main Council stepped forward to receive their badges. The solemn Oath was administered by the Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu, as the newly inducted council members extended their right arms to pledge their commitment to upholding their duties and the school motto, ‘Service Before Self’.

Following the oath, members of the Student Council delivered earnest speeches reflecting the clarity of their intent and the depth of their commitment. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, who expressed sincere gratitude to the esteemed dignitaries as well as the teachers, staff and parents for their unwavering support. The memorable ceremony drew to a solemn close with the rendition of the National Anthem.
