Delhi Public School R.K Puram organised ‘Happiness Quotient- Let The Creativity Flow’, a week long fiesta of intersection virtual competitions for Grades VI- VIII from 31st May to 4rth June 2021. The students’ enthusiastic participation was warmly welcomed and ensured a fruitful experience for both the students and the teachers. It gave an opportunity for the creative outpour necessary for the overall growth of an individual.
English- Grade VI organised ‘House of Dreamers – the Intersection Virtual Competition’ on 31st May 2021. The activity involved enactment of any one fictional character from the given list within the stipulated time: Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz), Hermione (Harry Potter Series), Harry Potter (Harry Potter Series), Swaminathan (Swami and Friends), Scarecrow (The Wizard of Oz), Tin Woodman (The Wizard of Oz), Lion (The Wizard of Oz), Alice (Alice in Wonderland). There were sixty-eight participants, who were judged by Ms. Ruma Madan, Ms. Ritu Kumar, Ms. Komal Chaudhary and Ms. Shruti Vijan.
Grade VII conducted ‘Curtain Call’, an intersection monologue presentation competition on 3rd June 2021. Participants were required to present a short monologue from the perspective of any one famous literary character that they had selected from the given list: Alice from ‘Alice in Wonderland’, The Giant from ‘The Selfish Giant’, Dorothy from ‘The Wizard of Oz’, Swami from ‘Swami and Friends’, Harry Potter, Matilda, Gulliver and Sherlock Holmes. Thirty-two students participated in the competition and it was judged by Ms Livano Banerjee, Ms Jaya Bharti, Ms Ekta Arora and Ms Divya Kapoor.
Grade VIII coordinated ‘Quizzards of Oz’, a language based online quiz on 2nd June 2021. The objective behind conducting this quiz was to judge the students on the basis of their conceptual clarity, understanding, timeliness, accuracy and application of knowledge. The questions were based on grammar, vocabulary, spellings, figures of speech, authors, poets and books. There were two rounds in total for this event.
Thirty- eight students took part in the quiz. As part of Round I, participants were asked to attempt a Google Form based quiz involving thirty questions. After which, the shortlisted participants moved onto Round II or the Final Round on a multi media online quiz platform, Kahoot involving twenty questions. Out of thirty- eight students, nineteen were shortlisted for Round II. The event was judged by Ms. Ruma Madan, Ms. Divya Kapoor and Ms. Mansa Thomas. The winners of the competitions are:

Math– Grade VI conducted a musical euphony, ‘Symphonies Of Mathematics’ on 1st June 2021. The topic for the event was, “All About Geometry”. Each participant was supposed to sing either a mathematical song/a jingle/ recite a poem based on the given topics. They could use any musical instrument available at home. The aim of the competition was to help the students to understand the concept of mathematics and develop vocabulary. Fifty- five participants were marked on their performance. It was judged by Ms. Anita Sachdeva, Ms. Priyanshi, Ms. Neelu Oberoi and Ms. Isha Jain on the basis of clarity of concept displayed by the song, overall presentation and time limit. The judges enjoyed the compositions and praised the students for their innovations.
Grade VII organised ‘Quadrilaterals Robot’ on 2nd June 2021. The participants had to design a 2D Robot on an A4/A3 sheet using different quadrilaterals either by cutting, pasting, painting or sketching within the stipulated time. There were fifty- six participants. The judges were Ms. Divya Tyagi, Ms. Jatinder Kaur and Ms. Neelu Oberoi. The judgement was based on creativity, originality, neatness and application of usage of quadrilaterals in overall presentation.
Grade VIII coordinated ‘Code Breaker’ on 31st May 2021. The participants were assigned a set of linear equations. They had to match the solutions to the letters in the decoding grid to produce anagrams of secret messages. Cracking codes and unravelling the true meaning of secret messages were an interesting activity, which they enjoyed thoroughly. The code chosen was “MATH IS FUN”. There were forty- nine participants in total. The judges were Ms.Tandeep Kaur and Ms. Ritu Nayar. The judgement was done on the basis of submitting the solutions with correct code. The time taken by students to reach the code was also considered while deciding the winners. The winners are as follows:

Grade VII and Hindi Department’s Samvad Club organised ‘Doha Gayan Pratiyogita’ on 3rd June 2021. The objective of the event was to cultivate the love for language and Hindi literature among students. Famous compositions of Kabir, Surdas, Rahim, Redas and Mirabai were recited by the participants. It was judged by Ms. Sangita Bajpai and Ms. Priyamvada.

Science– Grade VI organised a greeting card making competition on the theme- ‘From Trash to Treasure’ on 2nd June 2021. The students were required to prepare an attractive greeting card by reusing or recycling waste materials like dried leaves, flowers, beads, buttons, ribbons, etc. The aim of the competition was to sensitise the students towards the importance of 3R’s- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The competition witnessed an enthusiastic participation of forty seven students. The judges of the event were Mr. Shiven Tanwar, Ms. Deepika Malhotra, Ms. Jatinder Kaur and Ms. Sushma Sardana. It was judged on the basis of creativity, originality, neatness, application of ideas to develop art and overall presentation.
Grade VII conducted ‘Awareness Pamphlet Making Competition’ on 1st June 2021 with the intent of honing the skills of critical thinking, reflection, analysis and synthesis in the students. The participants were instructed to make an A-4 sized handmade pamphlet, on any one of the topics: ‘Indoor Pollution’, ‘Safety Measures for Natural Disasters’ and ‘Climate Change’. Each participant was given a minute to showcase their pamphlets and explain the science concept behind it. There were a total of nineteen participants. The judging panel involved Mr. Amit Rajput, Ms. Ritu Kumar and Mr. Himanshu Bedi.
Grade VIII coordinated ‘Preservation Is The Key’ on 3rd June 2021. The participants were asked to make an infographic with illustrations on ‘Role of Science in Food Preservation’. Apart from facilitating growth mindset and increasing intrinsic motivation of the child, the objective of the competition was to make the students understand the reasons for preserving food and to be aware of the consequences of not preserving food. The judges for the competition were Ms. Niva Chhonkar, Mr. Subodh Kumar and Ms. Alinda Holla. A total of nine students participated in the competition. The winners are as follows:

Social Science– Grade VI organised Story Telling Competition, ‘Stories From ThePanchatantra And The Jatakas’ on 2nd June 2021. The aim of this competition was to interconnect various disciplines and establish the fact that moral values are ageless and timeless. By picking tales from Jatakas and Panchatantra, the aim was to connect the values of equality, fraternity, friendship, excellence to the present day political and social scenario. There were eighteen participants in total. The event was judged by Mr. Anang Saxena, Ms. Sangita Bajpai, Ms. Shruti Talwar and Ms. Richa Basrao.
Grade VII conducted a Collage/Poster Making Competition on 1st June 2021. The objective of the competition was to ignite the fire of imagination and creativity in the students. The idea was also to make the students use their knowledge, understanding and awareness in creating their visuals (posters) to raise other student’s awareness about the rich cultural heritage of India, the importance of maintaining a healthy body and preservation of our environment. The themeswere ‘Monuments of India’, ‘A Healthy Mind Lives In A Healthy Body’ and ‘Forests Are The Lungs Of Our Land’. There were forty four participants in total. The judges were Ms. Shruti Mishra, Ms. Taruna Didi and Ms. Archna Anthwal.
Grade VIII coordinated ‘Just A Minute Competition’ on 3rd June 2021. The topics were: ‘Freedom to me is _____’, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” – By Mahatma Gandhi, ‘World’s energy lies in sun and the wind’, ‘Migration: Is it a boon or a bane?’, ‘Rights and Duties are the two sides of the same coin’ and ‘Constitutional Values- what do they mean to me?’ The aim of the competition was to give students an opportunity to arrange their thoughts on the chosen topic and speak coherently for a minute. It also aimed at boosting confidence and developing public speaking skills. There were fourteen participants in total. French– TheFrench Department organised ‘Find The Orator in You’ an online competition for Classes VI-VIII on 4th June 2021. In this competition, participants had to prepare any one out of the six topics (‘L’amitié’, ‘Les sports’, ‘Les vacances d’été’, ‘Le voyage’, ‘Ma famille ou Mon école’) already provided to them and then present it in 60-80 words. The aim of the competition was to improve the French speaking and presentation skills of the students. On the day of the event, thirty- four students participated with full vigour and enthusiasm. This event was judged by the experienced and highly qualified judges: Dr Shubhra Gupta and Dr Anuj Sharma.Their judgement criteria was based on the participant’s fluency and pronunciation, voice modulation, content delivery, creativity and originality and overall presentation. German– On 4th June 2021, a Poster Making Competition for Classes VI- VIII was conducted by the German Department.The purpose of this event was to create and maintain the interest of the students in the language and develop their language and competitive skills. Participants had to make a poster on any one of the given topics which were: ‘gesund leben’, ‘Covid -19’, ‘Im Park oder am Computer spielen’, ‘mein Tagesablauf heutzutage’, ‘Online Stunden’. Spanish– The Spanish Department conducted AD-ZAP competition, an advertising strategy contest for the students of Classes VI-VIII on 4th June 2021. The objective of the competition was to test the students’ creativity and out-of-the-box thinking skills at the same time testing their diction and command over the Spanish language. The participants had to present a small advertisement in Spanish on one of the following topics which were given in advance: ‘Hand Sanitizer’, ‘Immunity Boosters’, ‘Board Games’. The competition was judged by Dr. Lovey Srivastava and Ms. Ishita Wadhwa.
The participants were judged on the basis of their diction and dialogue delivery, creativity and originality, adherence to time and voice modulation. The competition saw an enthusiastic participation of a total of thirty- eight students. The participants were brilliant as they used witty one-liners and taglines, poems and role-play to present their respective products. The competition was fierce and the judges had a tough time judging the winners. The winners of the competitions are:
