The Institute of Nano Medical Sciences (INMS), University of Delhi, organised the World Congress on Nanomedicine 2026 from 27–29 September 2026, under the chairmanship of Prof. Roger D. Kornberg, Nobel Laureate.
The prestigious Congress brought together eminent scientists, researchers and young scientific minds to deliberate upon the emerging advances, innovations and applications of nanomedicine. The thematic areas covered a wide spectrum of contemporary research, including targeted drug delivery, nanoparticles for diagnostics, nanomedicine in cancer treatment, regenerative nanomedicine, precision nanomedicine, nanobiophotonics, Artificial Intelligence in nanomedicine, nanobiosensors and medical devices, law and nanomedicine, radiation nanomedicine, and the development of nasal sprays for rapid stroke aid, among other emerging areas.
The Congress was inaugurated on 27 September 2026 by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Science and Technology, Government of India.
A delegation of students from Classes X and XI of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram had the unique privilege of participating in the “Meet and Greet Session with the Nobel Laureate” on 27 September 2026. The students had the opportunity to interact personally with Prof. Roger D. Kornberg, making the experience both intellectually enriching and deeply inspiring.
Prof. Roger David Kornberg, an American Biochemist and Professor of Structural Biology at Stanford University School of Medicine, was awarded the 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his studies of the molecular basis of eukaryotic transcription—the process through which genetic information encoded in DNA is copied into RNA.
The Congress also featured eminent scientific personalities. Prof. T. M. S. Chang, Emeritus Professor of Physiology, Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University, Canada, and known for his pioneering work on artificial cells and encapsulation technology, joined the programme virtually. The occasion was also graced by Padma Bhushan Prof. G. P. Talwar and Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi.
The exposure provided the students with a valuable glimpse into the rapidly evolving world of nanomedicine and biomedical research. It enabled them to connect concepts such as DNA, RNA and transcription, studied in the Biology classroom, with their applications in cutting-edge scientific research.
The visit exemplified the importance of learning beyond the classroom, giving students an opportunity to listen to leading scientists, engage with contemporary scientific ideas and appreciate the possibilities that emerge when Biology, Medicine, Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence converge.
It was an enriching and inspiring academic experience, bringing the students closer to the world of scientific discovery and encouraging them to look at Biology not merely as a subject of study, but as a gateway to research, innovation and human advancement. The students were accompanied by Ms. Niva Chhonkar, HOD Biology, DPS R.K. Puram.
