Bharatanatyam “Arangetram” of Ananya Kant – a DPS RK Puram student of Class 11 H – was held on 10th August 2013 at India International Center, New Delhi.
Ananya’s GURU is Kalaimamani Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan – an eminent Bharatanatyam dancer and Padma Bhushan Awardee. “Arangetram” in Tamil literally means ‘ascending the stage’. It is the first solo performance of a dancer and is done only when the ‘Guru’ feels that the ‘Shishya’ is ready to face an audience. It requires years of commitment and serves as the culmination of a dancer’s training.
Ananya performed for one and a half hours, and delighted an audience of more than 200 numbers with her flawless movements, vivid expressions, and abundant energy. She was awarded the Certificate and Trophy in the presence of the ‘Guest of Honour” Dr D R Saini, Principal, DPS RK Puram.
Ananya also excels in academics and obtained a CGPA of 10 in her Class X results. She has represented her school in various physics and chemistry seminars. An avid reader, Ananya also participates in debates, creative writing, and recitation. She enjoys swimming and plays tennis in her leisure time. She has been awarded scholar badge consecutively for last 7 years, and is a Red Blazer, Red Tie, and prestigious Blue Blazer awardee of DPS RK Puram.
Ananya participates in various dance activities in the school and in 2010 she also went to Trinidad and Tobago to represent her school for a Cultural Exchange Program.
Ananya has done extremely well to make her School, Guru, Parents, and all near and dear ones proud!
