Delhi Public School believes that Parents are a very important part of our team and hence it is imperative that we work together to ensure that optimal learning takes place. Keeping this in view, an In-School Open House for the parents of Class IX was organised on 30th July and 8th October, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The parents interacted with the subject teachers on a one to one basis and touched base regarding the performance of their ward in classes. The PTM emphasised on having a meaningful interaction with the subject teachers. Parents were appreciative of the efforts made by school and all the teachers.They were given an opportunity to share suggestions and resolve their queries. It was a successful interaction.
CLASS IX VIRTUAL ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (2022-23)
A Virtual Orientation programme was organised for the parents of class IX students on Friday 29th April 2022.The purpose of the Orientation Programme was to introduce the parents to the respective class teachers and subject teachers as well as to introduce them to the curriculum of the various subjects.
The Headmistress, Ms Rashmi Malhotra addressed the parents and advised them to ensure that their wards attend all classes regularly and follow a routine in tough times.She emphasised on the importance of the discipline to be followed while attending classes. The class representatives spoke about the rules and Covid appropriate behaviour, which was followed by the class teachers explaining the code of conduct to the parents. Each subject teacher, thereafter introduced herself and gave a brief introduction of their subject along with providing information about the text-books to be referred, course content etc, for the same. The session ended with the class teachers thanking the parents for participating enthusiastically in the programme and understanding the ethos of the school.

Republic Day Celebrations 2023
Delhi Public School RK Puram Celebrated Republic Day in School on 26th January 2023. The songs Teri Mitti and Tu Bhoola Jise sung by the choir set a patriotic tone for the day. The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan hoisted the Tricolour in the Open Air Theatre, in the presence of Students, Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani and Mr Anil Kathuria, Head of Security Ms Sangeeta Rana, Activity Incharges Ms Abha Chona and Ms Kaveri Dhar, Head of Physical Education Mr N.Suresh, Girls Hostel Wardens Ms Arti Tripathi, Ms Shruti Gupta, Boys Hostel Wardens Mr Mohitendra Dey, Mr Arani Baksi, Mr Sanjay Shirsat, along with the support staff of DPS RK Puram. The National Anthem was sung by all present as flowers descended from the unfurled flag.
The Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan led the students, teachers, and support staff in taking a pledge on this auspicious occasion to always uphold the Indian Constitution. She reminded us that as the largest democracy in the world, we must always contribute in celebrating diversity that is the hallmark of this great nation. Addressing the students, the Principal said that as future stakeholders of this country, students must guard the freedom that they are born with, and use it for betterment of society.
After the ceremony, sweets were distributed to the students.
Language Fest 2023
Assembly VIII-I (24-01-2023)
Topic : “FREEDOM IS NOT GIVEN, IT IS TAKEN”
On the 24th January of 2023, class VIII I presented their assembly on the topic “Freedom is not given, it is taken.” The assembly was focused on Subhash Chandra Bose’s life as a tribute to him.
The assembly began with a morning prayer sung by Saiansha Kataria, Shaurya Bajaj, Samanyu Ghuliani, Anaisha Arora, Aarna Mathur, Diya Gupta, Sarnav Aggarwal, Shivansh Garg, Gurveer Singh Sabharwal and Siya Kathuria soon followed by Ganesh Vandana performed by Harnoor Sachdeva. A sanskrit shlok was then recited by Gurveer Singh Sabharwal. An update on daily news was given by Gauransh Saini, Vajra Gautam, Amaira Jain, and Arjun. Thought for the day was presented by Viresh Kumar, Kashvi Singh, Amaira Arora, Saiansha Kataria and Diya Gupta.
Arnav Sakshya recited a poem composed by Aarna Mathur, depicting our “March towards Freedom” during times of British rule. Western choir was performed by Diya Gupta, Kavin Chaudhary, Anaisha Arora, Aarna Mathur, Saiansha Kataria, Samanyu Ghuliani, Gurveer Singh, Siya Kathuria, Sarnav Aggarwal and Harnoor Sachdeva. The skit was a memoir to Netaji and was participating was enacted by Aryaman Bhardwaj, Ahaan Sadh, Arjun, Shaurya Bajaj, Kavin Chaudhary. The INA consisted of Ranbir Goel, Sarnav Aggarwal, Ashish, Viresh Kumar, Vajra Gautam, Tavish Singh, Chaitanya Vaswani, Aditya Gupta, Vivaan Jha, Gauransh Saini and Amaira Jain and Amaira Arora waved flags. Protesters were Kashvi Singh, Maishaa Minocha, Sahana Agarwal, Amaira Jain, Amaira Arora, Vadini Agrawal and Aishwarya Pratap.
The assembly was compered by Harnoor Sachdeva, Arnav Sakshya, Samanyu Ghuliani and Aditri Shree Dwivedi. The singers in the skit were Anaisha Arora ,Saiansha Kataria and Shaurya Bajaj. The board was decorated with drawings by Anaisha Arora, Naisha Jain, Aarna Mathur, Vadini Agrawal, Maisha and Sahana Agarwal. The digital presentation was prepared by Naisha Jain, Kavin Chaudhary, Ranbir Goel, Maishaa Minocha, Siya Kathuria.

With a view to sensitise the students towards the rising problems due to high build-up of waste and its impact on the immediate and global environment, DPS R.K. Puram organised an online guest speaker programme on ‘Waste Management’. This was conducted on 11 January 2023 for Grade VI and VII students. The programme was a great learning opportunity provided to us under the aegis of our Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan. It was well supported by our Headmistress, Ms. Vinita Gupta and our Reps, Ms. Divya Kapoor and Ms. Aastha Bablani.
Working religiously for the same cause, the speakers were Ms Malini Parmar and Ms Sonia Chopra and Ms. Bhavna Bhargava from a Bangalore-based organisation – ‘Stonesoup.in’ which works towards spreading awareness about reduction of waste and helping everyone to adopt a zero waste lifestyle. It also aims to make sustainable living easy while creating employment for women.
Students of Grade VI were fortunate to be guided effectively to adapt to the various ways for smart handling of waste which includes processing and recycling as per the latest technology. The session included detailed information about the harmful effects of single use plastic, chemicals and other daily use products which have an adverse effect on the environment. The speakers also enlightened the audience about the ignorant behaviour and practices that cause such a global destruction. They shared an informative presentation on healthy and sustainable alternatives to help waste management.
The session was interactive, educational and insightful. After the presentation, the students were allowed to ask questions to the speakers. The speakers patiently answered the questions and appreciated them for showing great interest in the cause.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks to Ms. Parmar, Ms. Chopra and Ms. Bhargava who helped the students understand about the burning issues of our times and what they can do to curb them. The thought provoking ideas shared by the students and encouragement by the speakers made this session a grand success.








CLASS X CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION REPORT 28- 30 SEPTEMBER 2022
Sessions on career counselling was organised by the school for students and parents of class X separately according to the following schedule:
Class X A – XH (PARENTS)The first session was conducted by Mr Jitin Chawla on 28 September 2022 (Wednesday) on career options available for students across all streams within India. Sir emphasised upon the need to discover oneself and asking questions such as what, why, when, where and how. Various offbeat careers booming in the present times were also highlighted such as certified fraud examiner, design computational linguistics, digital marketing etc.Mr Chawla provided information on various courses available within India and abroad offering free education such as Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Netherlands. The session was engaging and informative and the parents were able to get clarity on their questions related to a specific career.


CLASS X (STUDENTS)
A career session was organised for all class X students on 29th September 2022 (Thursday).
The first session was conducted by Mr Binit Binod and his team from PRATHAM. Mr Binit Binod emphasised upon how to choose a career for themselves based upon their aptitude, skills and interest instead of choosing a career based on other people’s perspective, herd mentality, comparison and social status. Sir, highlighted upon various career options available for students across all streams along with their entrance exams and future prospects. Second session was taken by Ms Shilpa and Mr Abhishekh from MINDLER where an emphasis was on subject specific career options available for students. Sir provided information on various career options available apart from the usual career options available.

CLASS X I TO X O (PARENTS)
A session was conducted by Mr Jitin Chawla on 30th September 2022 (Friday) on various career options available for students across all streams. The session highlighted upon upcoming new courses available which have a promising future for the generations to come. Sir emphasised upon the importance of self discovery in the process of choosing a career for themselves. Information on career options available when choosing a specific subject was provided such as psychology, history, maths, economics, chemistry etc. Lastly, an emphasis on different universities along with the programs being offered were spoken about. It was an informative interactive session where parents were able to clear their doubts.

CLASS X CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION JAMBOREE
“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”
On 26th September 2022, Delhi Public School RK Puram organised a career guidance session for the students of Class X which was taken up by Jamboree Institute. Headmistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra addressed the students about the importance of Career Counselling and Guidance Sessions. The esteemed speakers invited for the day were Ms. Naima Gupta and Mr. Vineet Gupta both alumni.
Speakers provided fruitful insight to the young minds about education abroad. The two insisted on fogging the human mind to figure out what one really wants in life. Students were provided a brief about the universities abroad, their admission procedures and their prerequisites. The topic of Liberal Arts was taken up and flexibility of various educational institutes such as Ashoka University was shown . It was to them. interactive and intriguing session as all the doubts were actively addressed. The Speakers also emphasised the importance of being a humble and responsible citizen. The session was concluded with the vote of thanks.


Class XI Scholar Badge – 2022-23
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
Delhi Public School R. K. Puram hosted the Annual Scholar Badge Ceremony for Class XI on 20th January 2023. This highly anticipated day is an occasion to recognize the students who have excelled in academics and co-curricular activities during the previous academic year.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Shri VK Shunglu Chairman of DPS Society and the Managing Committee of DPS RK Puram, The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan, Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kumar Kathuria and Mr Mukesh Kumar, the Headmistresses Ms Rashmi Malhotra and Ms Vinita Gupta. The scintillating beats of the Indian classical orchestra live by the students of the Performing Arts Society captivated the audience. The symphony started off the most awaited event on an auspicious note.
The Chief Guest for this ceremony, Shri VK Shunglu, Chairman of DPS Society and the Managing Committee DPS RK Puram, was felicitated by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan.This was followed by a movie highlighting the exceptional achievements and the heights scaled by the students in various fields under the dynamic leadership of our Principal, during the academic year 2021-22.This movie presented the audience a glimpse of the year gone by; highlighting noteworthy achievements, events, seminars, workshops and competitions and the multitude of activities that students at DPS R. K. Puram engaged and excelled in.
The Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, addressed the gathering by extending a warm welcome to the Chairman Shri VK Shunglu and thanked him for taking out time from his busy schedule to grace the occasion. She added that the school has always been grateful to the Chairman for setting new challenges and supporting the school towards achieving them.She told the students to face the challenges in life with courage, determination and work hard to meet their potential.
This was followed by a soulful rendition of the song Meri Pehchaan Hai by the school choir. As excitement filled the auditorium, the students welcomed the audience with the unique charm of Thillana, the Royal Dance of Travancore.
The Chief Guest, Mr. V.K. Shunglu, started his address by motivating the students and sensitising them to the importance of following their interests and turning them into real passion. He appreciated the efforts put in by the Performing Arts Society, and emphasised the importance of art not only as a hobby but as a profession, and how art is inextricably linked with life in India. The Chairman proposed the new Cambridge Initiative to be implemented as a pilot project in a segregated manner, starting from the primary school stating that the curriculum would open new vistas and opportunities to children.
The Award Distribution ceremony commenced with introducing the meritorious students by the class representatives of Class XI Ms Shalini Harisukh, Ms Ritu Kumar and Ms Kusum Yadav . Special awards like the Kusum Sachdeva Stellar Student Award and Prantik Roy Memorial Award were also given to the students.The Prantik Roy Memorial Gold Medal was instituted by Mr and Mrs Roy choudhary in the loving memory of their son Prantik who was a student at DPS RK Puram.The award is given every year to the school class 10th topper, it carries a gold medal and a certificate.This year we also have ”Kusum Sachdeva Stellar Student Award” for Excelling in the Mukhyamantri Vigyan Pratibha Pariksha ,2021. This award is instituted by Ms Manisha and Ms Mukta in remembrance of their mother Ms Kusum Sachdeva who was part of DPS R K Puram as a geography teacher. Ms Manisha was herself present to give away the ”Kusum Sachdeva Stellar Student Award’ .
The Vice Principal Mr Anil Kathuria proposed the vote of thanks. He thanked the Chief Guest Shri Vk Shunglu for gracing the occasion, the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan for her constant support and guidance, and the Class Representatives for their hard work and diligence. He also congratulated the students for their achievements and diligent effort.
The ceremony concluded with the School Anthem and the National Anthem.
Assembly VI-G & VI-H (19-01-2023)
Topic : “SMALL COURTESIES SWEETEN LIFE”
When courteous practices become an integral part of classroom life, conflicts and discipline problems diminish.To celebrate this principle, classes VI G AND VI H came together with the topic for the assembly- Small Courtesies Sweeten Life. The assembly started with morning prayer sung by Aaradhya Kirar, Aniruddha Gupta, Ayaan Kapur, Chitrarth Bajaj, Dev Batra, Jai Nagrath, Raj, Rajveer Budhraj, Rajveer Singh Gulati, Rhythm Chopra, Samar, Taksh Bharara, Tamanna, Vedanshi Srivastava, Aadita Khanduja, Aaditya Anand, Anika Singh, Saisha Surjewala, N.Jyothi Rao. This was followed by thoughts for the day presented by Avirath Nanchahal in Spanish, Aditya Apoorva in Hindi and Kanav Manocha in English. Then, we had an interactive speech spoken by Parisa Malhotra, Aadya Bhasin and Shaurya Taneja. The news for the day was read by Aniruddha Gupta, Aarav Kharkia, Hridhan Goel and Deepshikha Majumdar.
After this Shaurya Bhardwaj and Ehimay Shankar expressed their views on the topic through a poem. The self-composed song was sung by Antara Singh, Misha Suneja, Shaunak Malhotra, Shaurya Baisoya, Sarvagya Aggarwal, Aanya Bhatia, Aanya Chandra, Akshat Sagar, Arkojeet Choudhary, Gaurika Sharma, Hridhan Goel, Lakshya Kaul, Rudrakshi Tiwary, Vihaan Popli and Viraj Singh Chauhan. An English poem on small courtesies was presented by Rajveer Singh Gulati. The group dance was presented by the students Aastha Maurya, Kishteena, Rabiya Saba, Gouri, Aadinath Hari Kumar, Aadya Bhasin, Aayanna Katoch, Aditri Mathur, Jasleen Kaur and Saisha Arora.
