Inter-school Cultural Festival : Aaina-Nukkad Natak- 2nd Position

The students of the Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School R.K Puram participated in “AAINA”- Nukkad Natak held on 4 August 2023 organized by St Xavier’s Sr. Secondary school. They secured the third position. The students presented a thought provoking street play on the theme ‘Gender Sensitisation’ showcasing the various stereotypes.

Assembly X-K & X-L (01-08-2023)

TOPIC – “FRIENDSHIP UNITES THE WORLD”

On Tuesday, the 1st of August 2023, the students of classes X K and X L presented their class assembly on the topic –’Friendship Unites the World’ Celebrating the essence of friendship which binds the soul and the world together. 

The assembly commenced with the melodious prayer ‘Achyutam Keshavam Krishna Damodaram’ sung by Hridaan Gandotra, Ishika Anand, Karthik, Rishank Kumar, Yuvaditya Jain, Shivein Jain(Tabla), Aditya Kumar(Sitar), Harman Gandhi, Bhavmanyu Tokas, Gatik Goyal, Dronn Bawa, Bhavya Nagar, Shreya Arora, Priyanka Nasa, Keshav Bindal, Aarav Sirohi, Ruhan Lakhani, Aarnav Arora, Viraj Suneja, Kshitij Bharti, Shivansh Agrawal, Rakchit Anand, and Tejas Upadhyay. This was followed by a classical dance performance Shiv Tandav by Ishanya Anand and Anushka Sengupta. Thought for the day was then presented by Shibani Minocha. This was followed by a self composed poem by Veda Dua. The skit on True Friendship- a tale of timeless bonds was presented by Shaurya Veer Khurana, Reeshan Kumar, Adhiraj Jain, Abeer Khan, Amandeep Singh Sawhney, and Aaryan Verma. Another skit on Krishna Sudama was presented by Riddhima Nora, Ananya Goyal, Anushka Sengupta, Gatik Goyal, Dronn Bawa, Kaustubh Tiwari, Varun Singh, Namayra Kohli, Arav Gupta, and Aarav Sirohi. They portrayed how friendship is an eternal bond which transcends all barriers. This was followed by Pranvat Singh who expressed his views on the theme. The news on friendship ties between various countries of the world through sports and other ties were read by Shubhi Badola and Aadhya Arora. Next was a brilliant dance performance with the song ‘Count on me’ by Samika Gupta, Rohan Sarin, Saahir Kapoor, Raghav Gupta, Arshia Tanvee, Yashica Rathore, Suheena Sapra, Suhani Hari, Namayra Kohli, Aadya Mahajan, Muskan, Diya Halan, Tejas Upadhyay and Shivein Jain. 

Lastly,the assembly concluded with the song ‘Yaaron Dosti’ captivating the audience, sung by Rishabh Garg, Hana, Hridhya Bhatiani, Ishanya Anand, Mahi Ramteke, Manya Lalani, Saanvi Goel, Rupal Handa, Ashika Sinha, Harman Gandhi, Priyanka Nasa, Bhavmanyu Tokas, Riddhan Saluja, Yuvraj Awasthy, Aadya Mahajan, Bhavya Nagar, Shreya Arora, Kshitij Bharti, Tejas Upadhyay, Suheena Sapra, Arav Gupta, Shivein Jain and Pranvat Singh. Instruments were played by Shivein Jain, Keshav Bindal, Aditya Kumar, Anav Jain, Akshat Jain, Amogh Sharma, Tarushi Jain, Suhani Mishra and Ronit Kapoor. The comperes were Akshita Mangal, Samika Gupta and Akshat Jain. The soft board, invitations, and folders were made by the art team comprising of Shubhi Badola , Sibani Minocha, Shivein Jain, Anushka Sengupta, Ananya Goyal, Dronn Bawa, Gatik Goyal, Riddhima Nora, Suheena Sapra and Veda Dua. TOPIC – “NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES”

As Guy Kawasaki once said, “If you have to put someone on a pedestal, put teachers. They are society’s heroes.” Achievers are born when they start following in their teachers footsteps. Their faith in their students helps them broaden their horizons and create new visions. Their devotion, hard work, and eternal positivity never go unnoticed. Teachers are appreciated for all and any of their varied moments ranging from funny to frightening to inspirational.

Dreams begin with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs, pushes and leads you to the next plateau. The fragrance of truth is their identity and even stones can melt with their teachings. This exact meaning was conveyed in the assembly of X I and X J conducted on the occasion of Guru Purnima.For the assembly, the classes started with a heartfelt morning prayer by Manan, Reyan, Hriday, Hridya, Soumya, Mukund, Raghav, Arjun, Arihant, Shivansh, Nikhil, Divyashakti, Shayona, Namya, Arnav G., Vidit Goel, Lovleen, Shauryainder, Ananya, Faguni, Vidit Jain, Anish, Gaur Krisna and Nishant expressing their gratitude and beginning the day on an auspicious note. After this, there was a Ganesh Vandana performed by Pallavi, Gargi, Charvi and Samreen, which enraptured the audience.

The audience were enlightened with the thought for the day in French and English presented by Samdisha and Swadha, which was followed by a thought provoking shlok by Kartavya and Namya, and informative news given by Tanya, Rehan, Raksham and Tejas. Shivin Sareen enunciated the vitality of the Guru. To further express their feelings and gratitude for teachers, self composed poems were recited by Arihant, Aditi T. and Aadhya. To emphasise on the importance of teachers in our lives, a skit was put up by Paridhi, Vidit, Samarthya, Gauransh, Ananya, Maira and Shubham. A stirring choir was presented by Samdisha, Shravya, Saanvi, Nishtha, Swadha, Paridhi, Shaurya, Hridhya, Nikhil, Arihant, Shivansh, Ananya, Faguni, Namya.

It was followed by a soulful orchestra by Jairaj, Sohum, Aarush, Akshita, Ahaan Purohit, Rajveer Singh, Vidhaan Srivastava, Shayona, Divyashakti, Jayesh, Agrani, Soham, Sabyasachi. The assembly concluded on a high note with a stunning fusion dance by Charvi, Samreen, Pallavi, Gargi, Ashwika, Gunika, Jia, Yashvi, Vaishnavi, Shravya, Raksham and Vritti.

The comperes were Samaira, Satya, Kabir, Sohum, Ashutosh, Gauravi, Daksh, Yashvi, Shivin, Bhoomi, Kartvaya, Arnav G., Arnav B., Punnay, Aarush, Aditi, Vardaan and Shivesh. The digital presentation was curated by Shubham, Samdisha, Manvik, Vritti and Arihant. The Assembly began with a prayer ‘Achyutam keshvam’ by Chaitanya, Daksh, Keshav, Ayush, Garv, Arham, Eshan, Katyayni and Krish followed by a motivational poem by Sanchita. Krishna Vandana was performed by Jia and Manya. News update was by Abhishek, Dhruv, Arham and Vedanth. Alisha presented the thought for the day. Speeches were by Muskan, Vinayak, Harshita and Katyayni. A skit on friendship was performed by Falak, Arjun, Ayush, Simarpreet, Aarna, Hita, Dhairya and Jastaran. A melodious song on friendship was sung by Chaitanya, Jai, Daksh, Keshav, Eshan, Katyayni and Krish. Instrumental music was played by Dhairya, Daksh and Krish. A fusion dance was performed by Manya, Sahib, Rayna, Tanisha, Aviral, Pavni, Suhanee and Muskan. Compering was done by Manya, Kaushal, Falak and Vivaan. Beautiful cards, folders and board were made by Manya, Jai, Jia, Muskan, Mahi and Vedansh. Digital presentation was prepared by Krrish, Isha, Abdul and Aradhya.

In the realm of darkness, we come to understand the essence of light and its significance in illuminating our path. Life’s attributes lie not merely in black or white, but in the rich spectrum of colors that paint our journey. Embrace the shades of uncertainty, for they reveal the depth and beauty of our existence.
The assembly started with a Ganesh Vandana by Saanvi Krishan. The News was read by Asmi Sheoran, Akshin Gulati, Smahi Jhung, and Hiral Singh. The thoughts for the day were presented by Joban Singh and Akhil Sachdeva. The Choir comprised of Aarna, Myra, Anish, Hriday, Adwaiy, Asmi, Niharika, and Guruvansh. The instrumental piece was performed by Praveer Bedi, Yashvardhan, Shashwat, Swarnika, Raghav Aggarwal, and Aryan. The Skit was performed by Kaina Guliani, Tanisha, Asmi Sheoran, Raghav Aggarwal, Adamya Dhiman, Ujjwal, Parth, Diya, Swarnika, Kushagr, and Akshin. The speech was given by Hiral. Think Summit 23, organized by The Think Club at Delhi Public School R. K. Puram was held on 22nd July 2023. This annual inter-school innovation fair aims to foster bright young minds and cultivate innovative skills to address age-old challenges through creative thinking. The event was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing both on-site and online participation.

 

The summit featured six engaging events, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their exceptional brainstorming abilities and the transformative power of thinking.

 

Comprising three on-site and three online events, Think Summit 23 attracted the enthusiastic participation of numerous schools from diverse regions. Each event saw healthy competition, with students eager to demonstrate their innovative prowess.

 

We extend our gratitude to the generous sponsors who made Think Summit 22 possible- Think Startup and Action Balaji Institute. Their support has played a significant role in nurturing the spirit of innovation among young minds and encouraging them to think beyond conventional boundaries.

 

The online segment included:

  • I am Superhero 

The event provided participants with a special chance to use their creativity and innovation to find a express a superhero in themselves. This superhero’s mission was to save the world from impending danger and secure humanity’s future. It encouraged young minds to think imaginatively and come up with solutions that could make a big difference in our world. 

  • Intergalactic Perils: A Mis Adventure

In this thrilling competition, artists depicted perilous situations faced by space explorers using their creative flair. From battling asteroids to enduring cosmic hazards, participants visually captivated viewers, celebrating bravery and humanity’s quest for understanding the cosmos.

  • On Air

The competition was centered around reporting actual innovations within participants’ local areas or presenting their own unique creations and they were tasked with creating video clips that effectively showcased the innovative concept, its practical application in the real world, and the potential impact it could have on society or a specific industry. The competition provided a platform for creative minds to share their vision for a better future and inspired others to envision and pursue groundbreaking ideas.

 

The offline events included:

  • India’s Think Tank

The competition offered aspiring entrepreneurs a unique platform to question societal norms and confront prevalent challenges head-on. This event provided a ground for innovative minds to present futuristic solutions that address the pressing issues faced by India today. The central theme revolved around the critical examination of conflicts and crises that confront the nation. Participants leveraged their ingenuity and creativity to propose transformative ideas that have the potential to shape a better future for India. The judges were  Dr. Diksha Gambhir who completed her PhD from IIT Mandi and now has joined IIT Delhi as a post doctoral researcher. and Ms Jiya Makhija,former vice president of the Think Club .

 

  • Confabulation

This event centered on honing participants’ abilities to articulate, express, and engage in insightful discussions. One of the key components of the event was a dynamic group discussion, designed to evaluate the overall personality of individuals within the context of a group setting. Through this interactive forum, contestants showcased their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, allowing the evaluators to assess their communication skills and leadership potential. The event was judged by Ms. Smiti Mehra, another DPS RK Puram Alumni, who leads a team of Swedish engineers in Northwall and Mr. Lomash Sharma, an alumni of DPS RK Puram who also was the student incharge of the event last year and 

 

  • Innovation Marathon

This event was conducted in 2 rounds, this was a surprise event for students. The participants received 3 topics via randomly assigned chits and based on these topics, they had to construct a model and make a powerpoint presentation of five slides on it. The participants were given one hour to make their presentation and present it in front of the judges and the audience. This tested their presence of mind, improvisation and  spontaneity.The event was judges by two Think Club Ex Presidents Ms Medhavi Didi and Ms Aaryana Khare.

 

The Valedictory ceremony began with the Vice Principal Mr Naresh Miglani congratulating the participants of all schools who took out time to exhibit their innovative skills and creativity through the Think Summit.The Vice Principal Mr Anil Kathuria applauded the effort put in by the teachers involved in making this event a huge success.He also stressed upon the importance of such events in enhancing the learning in a student.The much awaited Award distribution ceremony was conducted by Ms Shelley Malhotra wherein the prizes were given by the Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani,Mr Anil Kathuria,Mr Mukesh Kumar and the Think Club incharge Ms Archna Deepak.The Vice Principal Mr Mukesh Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.He thanked each and every teacher involved in any capacity in making the event a success. He also thanked the school Principals of the participating schools in ensuring the overall growth of a child by helping them participate in such  events that help promote better learning.

The event concluded with the National Anthem.

MATHEMATICAL CRUSADE 2023

Mathematical Crusade 23, organised by Matsoc, the Mathematics club at Delhi Public School R. K. Puram was held on 22nd July 2023. This annual event appraised individuals’ creativity and critical thinking related to Mathematics, in a unique and innovative way. The fest featured five engaging events, two online and three on-site, which gave the students of about 30 schools an opportunity to showcase their mathematical skills along with their imaginative ability.

 

We extend our gratitude to the Unity group for sponsoring and supporting the event.

 

The online segment included:

  • Math-O-Kalendar

Students had to design the calendar for the month of July 2023 in innovative ways using various mathematical concepts. The judges for Math-o-kalendar were Ms. Arunima Dasgupta and Ms. Shreya Kataria.

 

  • The Math-O-Phile Podcast

The participants were asked to create an enticing and thought provoking podcast on any mathematical topic out of the ones given in the event. The event allowed participants to enhance their eloquence and expression in a mathematical context. The judges were Ms. Suchitra Kaushik and Mr. Aditya Agrawal.



The offline events included:

  • Modeil Mathematica

An event where children were able to express their love for mathematics and theatre through plays based on the work of different mathematicians. This event brought out the spirit of togetherness and teamwork while placing the participants in a field of friendly competition. The judges were Dr. T.P. Sharma, a major contributor to the Department of Mathematics in NCERT, and Ms. Shreya Goel, currently pursuing her bachelors in Mathematics from NYU.

 

  • Symphonies of Math

An opportunity for students to exhibit their musical talent while also contributing to an innovative way of showing their passion for mathematics. The event had performances ranging from maths-infused jazz to classical remixes. The event was judged by Dr. Bhavneet Kaur, an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Lady Shriram College for Women under the University of Delhi and Mr. Mrinaal Mittal, Director, Unity Group.

 

  • π-o-neer’s quiz

A challenging quiz that demands students to solve hard hitting mathematical problems with abilities that include problem solving, trivia knowledge and critical thinking.

 

Concluding the annual Mathematical Crusade was an enticing Valedictory Ceremony which commenced with a Ganesh Vandana  by three students of DPS RK Puram. Mr. Naresh Miglani, The Vice Principal, addressed the gathering. He commended all the participants and emphasised that participation in such an event enhanced every student’s practical application of mathematics rather than the usual theoretical lessons taught in the classrooms.
Then the Vice Principal Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria shared his thoughts with the audience. He remarked that winning didn’t matter because all those who participated were already winners. They had all been chosen from their own schools, thus proving their grit. WIth that, he congratulated all the students present and expressed his wish to see all of them participating again the following year.

The winners of each event were then felicitated  with certificates and trophies by the three Vice Principals, Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria and Mr. Mukesh Kumar,  and Head of Department of Mathematics, Ms. Ritu Nayar. All participating schools also received participation certificates for contributing to the overall success of the event.

Modern School Vasant Vihar organised MOD DEBATE on 25 July 2023. The debate was organised for both junior and senior categories. The Asian Parliamentary Debate was conducted in the senior category. DPS RK PURAM bagged the second position. The students of classes IX – X  contested for a Conventional Debate and bagged Second and Third Best Speaker Prizes. DPS RK PURAM was awarded the overall trophy for this event.

‘REMEMBER ME: The Cries of a Teenage Mind’ – An anthology of poems and stories by GURMANI KAUR, XII-S 

Gurmani Kaur officially launched her debut book ‘Remember Me – The cries of a Teenage Mind’ which gained recognition on a national platform. It is an anthology of reflective art, poems and stories blended with the human psyche to bring light to the emotional turmoil and perceptions of adolescent minds, leading to maturity. With her lilting imagery and mastery of words Gurmani manages to engross the reader in her journey. The self designed illustrious cover puppeteers her emotions starring her creations on mere chalk base by crafting and carving unique mementoes to produce soulful ripple.
