As a part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in the month of October, a visit to the Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat was organized for the students of Class 9 from 19th October to 7th November, 2023. The visit gave an opportunity to the students to reinforce experiential learning through the various illustrations and facts portrayed about the life of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation. The students also watched a visual presentation depicting the various facets of Gandhiji’s life and also taught the students about the importance of being truthful and practicing non-violence, the mottos of Gandhiji’s life. The visit was a great success and wonderful learning experience for the students of Class IX, inculcating the values of truth and non-violence in them.
VISIT TO THE NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE (CLASS IX)
The students of Class IX of Delhi Public School, RK Puram visited the National Science Centre on 19th October 2023. The visit aimed to foster experiential learning and inculcate the joy of learning by doing among the students. The tour consisted of various displays such as ‘Water – The Elixir of Life’, ‘The Study of the Indus Valley Civilisation’, ‘The Functioning of the Human Body’, etc.
The students also participated in various interactive quizzes and questionnaires that not only inspired their intellectual curiosity but also made learning more fun and enjoyable. The visit to the National Science Centre was an immensely memorable and enriching experience for the students that enhanced their creative abilities and ignited their curiosity.
Assembly XI-N & XI-S (17-10-2023)
TOPIC – “WINGS OF VALOUR: THE INDIAN AIR FORCE”
On Tuesday, the 17th of October 2023, the students of classes XI-N and XI-S organized an assembly on the topic “Wings of Valour: The Indian Air Force.” The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. Its primary mission is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during armed conflicts. It was officially established as an auxiliary air force of the British Empire which, after India’s independence from the United Kingdom in 1947, was named the Royal Indian Air Force. With the transition to a republic in 1950, the prefix Royal was removed. The assembly began with a prayer titled “Teri Hai Zameen,” which was sung by a group of students from both the classes. The prayer was followed by a skit titled “Battles in the Blue” performed by Lakshita Jain, Anchal Singh, Rashita Sharma, Aditya Bansal, Anant Harlalka. The skit was based on the story of an Indian Air Force Officer, who had to leave to serve his motherland, and his daughter. It was an amalgamation of contemporary dance by Lakshita Jain, Manthan Kumar, Simran, Kyra, Pragna, Ritshushna, narration by Sanskriti Sharma, Bhavya; news by Agastya shah, Sharanya Ash, Saksham, Divyanshi, Arjun, Vihaan, Sanvi, March past by group of students from both the sections, melodious choir by Sanskriti Sharma, Sharanya Ash, Radhika Bansal, Yashvi Joshi, Gayatri, Vanshika Khatri, Anshul Sareen, Nevaan Wadhawan, Rashita Sharma, Anchal Singh, Sanat Gupta, Aahana Singla, Atharva, Manthan, Mayank, Esha, Aarya, Sanya, Ishan, Divyanshi, Sanvi, Shreya. The skit ended with an inspiring and motivating poem by Lakshita Jain. Presentation of the assembly was created by Sanskriti Sharma, Lakshita Jain and Arjun Lather. E-invites and Board work was coordinated among the students of both the sections. The comperes for the assembly were Ananya, Atharava and Vihaan. Finally, the Audio-Visual Hall was filled with the melodious School Anthem followed by singing the National Anthem.

TOPIC – “BRAVE HEARTS OF KARGIL: HEROES OF THE 1999 WAR”
The students of class VIII C and VIII D came together to commemorate and pay tribute to the soldiers of the Kargil War. Since 1999, July 26 has been celebrated as the Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate the victory of “Operation Vijay” which was launched by the Indian Army to recapture the Indian territories from Pakistani intruders in the Kargil-Drass sector in 1999. The assembly commenced with a soulful rendition of prayer ‘Itni Shakti Hume Dena Daata’’ sung by Aishani, Ananyashree, Ashi, Avneet, Manya, Shikha, Vansh, Anshuman, Shruti, Shasreek, Alisha, Aarav, Akshita, Anant, Arohi, Lucky, Samriddhi, Suhani, Tanishka, Vanshika, Vanshikha, Yatee followed by a Sanskrit shloka recited by Bhavya. Ganesh Vandana was performed by Avika, Elysia, Ranjana and Shruti. Thought for the day was by Sparsh followed by a news bulletin by Saransh, Guneet, Aura, Sasha and Rudraksh. Manya and Aarav Pahwa told some facts about the Kargil war. This was followed by a skit performed by Vihan, Jayati Singh, Kyraan, Devansh, Geet, Samarth, Amartya, Rayirth, Siddharth, Ayush, Suhani, Avantika, Shaista, Rayyan and Gauri, and duet by Ashi and Anayashree. Aarav Goel, Aarav S., Anika, Devaang, Hriman, Krishna, Pranad showcased their talent with a mesmerising instrumental performance. TOPIC – “OUTER TEMPORARY TO INNER INFINITY – LIFE BEYOND THE FACE VALUE”
Mental health is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you get along with it and not where it leads you. World Mental Health Day celebrated on October 10 each year is a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting mental health and well-being. The theme for this year as set by the World Foundation of Mental Health is ‘Mental Health is a universal human right.’ To mark this day, the students of classes XI Q and XI R presented their class assembly on the topic: ‘OUTER TEMPORARY TO INNER INFINITY – LIFE BEYOND THE FACE VALUE’. “Make choices which are healthy, not only for your body, but also your mind.” It is essential to realise the importance of not only a healthy body, but a healthy mind, heart and soul. To embrace one’s inner self is like taking one step towards achieving the purpose of our existence. Let’s embark on this journey of clearing the ambiguity about the transient nature of the external world in our minds as we find a balance between inner infinity and outer temporary. With this theme, the students of classes XI Q and XI R presented their class assembly. The assembly commenced with a melodious morning prayer by Ishita Sharma, Mannat Singhania, Tanmay Vidhani, Agastya Singh, Stanzin Phunsog, Amit Vinay Kumar, Veyshaant Aditya, Saanvi Bajaj, Bhavya Kubba, Jahanvi Jaiswal, Himanshu Yadav, Manvir Singh Marwah, Rajeev Kumar Singh, Nandita Dutt Sharma and Ayush Agarwal with the tabla being played by Atul Raj Dhawan. This was followed by the graceful invocation dance by Anoushka Prasad. Next, to enlighten the gathering, came the inspirational thought for the day spoken by Arush Gupta. The audience were then made aware of the latest happenings around the world by Sarthak Malhotra, Agastya Singh, Emaad Kidwai and Mihika Kapoor. Subsequently, an act named ‘Speak Up and Stand Tall’ was performed by Arnuv Gupta, Prachi Bajaj and Taraasha Khanna. It highlighted the importance of mental health spoken through the lens of celebrities like MS Dhoni, Michelle Obama and Serena Williams. Next came the mesmerizing duet performance by Sahira Mahesh and Saanvi Bajaj which was accompanied by Atul Raj Dhawan on the clapbox. The thought provoking speech was eloquently given by Jahanvi Jaiswal and Arshiya Kapoor. The self composed poem recited by Sahira Mahesh beautifully brought out the essence of the writer’s emotion and intentions. An upbeat contemporary dance was presented by Avni Kaur, Rubani Kaur, Nitya Mulchandani, Yashvi Gupta, Venya Garg, Smera Aggarwal and Garima Agarwal. An act titled ‘Mukhote’ was presented by Pranshu Gupta, Surya Sawhney, Joel Augustine,Pranav,Amaan Faruque, Shreyansh Bansal, Shreshth Gupta, Himanshu Yadav and Satyabrat Roul. The Western choir was mellifluously sung by Preksha Agrawal, Dhairya Agarwal, Shubh Malik, Mahira Kohli, Tisya Jain, Sahira Mahesh, Veyshaant Aditya, Shreshth Gupta, Miraan Veer Duggal, Saanvi Bajaj, Sirat Kaur, Aditiya Rakheja, Bhavya Kubba, Ayush Agarwal, and Nandita Dutt Sharma which was accompanied by Atul Raj Dhawan on the clapbox and Shaneil Dylan Sequeira on the drums. Compering was done by Nandini Vaish, Mahik Sharma, Advika Harisukh and Miraan Veer Duggal. The beautiful board, folders and invites were put together by the art team consisting of Ishita Sharma, Yashika Tewatia, Mahira Kohli, Preksha Agrawal, Hardik Goel, Avni Kaur, Rubani Kaur, Anoushka Prasad and Yashvi Gupta. The digital presentation was done by Gunnika Kaur Bindra, Mannat Singhania and Abhimanyu Shetty. The green ribbon, an international symbol of mental health awareness made by Mahira Kohli, Sneha Singh, Arnuv Gupta and Rubani Kaurwas were given to principal ma’am, vice principal sir, the class rep and worn by all the assembly participants and teachers to show their support to the campaign. The e-invite was made by Chirag Malhotra. Back stage support was provided by Anshul Singh Gehlot, Amaan Faruque, Abbhiraj Kohli and Lakshay Gupta. The assembly imparted the message of mental well-being through various thought provoking performances.

Event-History on trial –
This was a courtroom style debate in which the participants defend or prosecute a famous but controversial historical personality. The teams consisted of 2 lawyers ( prosecutor and defence ) and 1 person as the accused historical personality.
The defence had to deliberate about the accused’s good qualities, contribution to society, reforms, accomplishments. The prosecution on the other had to address valid criticisms of the figure, negative impact of policies etc. The verbal exchange between both lawyers had to include both light legal jargon and humour. The stronger the case, the higher were the chances of winning.

Event-Historical Hunt–

Moot Court Competition 2023

The Political Science and Legal Studies department of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, under the guidance of Ms. Vandana Chandhoke and Ms. Sabreena Bansal, collaborated with BML Munjal University, Gurugram to conduct the Intra-school Moot Court competition 2023 for students of classes XI and XII. It was held on 11th-12th October 2023. The Chief guest of the event was Dr. Pritam Baruah, the Dean of BML Munjal University. He addressed the audience highlighting the importance of moot court competitions in schools, stressing on the art of law for making rules and its implementation, and how legal knowledge is essential for everyone, not only for those who are engaged in the legal profession. He concluded his speech wishing all the participants a memorable learning experience.
The event aimed to simulate a court hearing in which participants were required to analyse the presented case, research the relevant laws, prepare written submissions according to the stance of the plaintiff or defendant allotted to them, and present verbal arguments.
The case before the court revolved around a fictional country, Parzania. A group of environmentalists in Parzania pushed towards sustainability by demanding higher protection to the natural environment and imposing absolute prohibition on mining activities. The aim of the case was to assess the persuading skills of both the plaintiff as well as defendant teams.
13 teams from class XI and XII participated as 7 plaintiffs and 8 defendants. The competition was held in two rounds. The first round hearing gave the aspiring lawyers a platform to present their arguments within a time limit of 10 minutes. Two teams qualified for the second round. Hearings were judged by Dr. Adithya Chintapanti, Prof. Sonika Bajpayee, and Prof. Abhishek Mishra of BML Munjal University.
At the end of the competition, the Plaintiff team, consisting of Vigaas Singh, Shrishti Sehrawat, and Yati Sinha emerged victorious, also winning the prize for the best memorial. Team defendant consisting of Anannya Gupta, Lavanya Sehwag, and Sheen Madan won the first runners up position, and team plaintiff, consisting of Rishita Mangal, Vrishti Gupta, Mihika Sagar won the second runner up position. The third runner up position was won by team defendant comprising of Deevit Singh, Rudraansh Deb, and Ritika Tiwari. Sohaum Rodborne was adjudged as the best speaker.
At the closing ceremony , the Dean of BML Munjal University Dr. Pritam Baruah praised the efforts of all the participants and congratulated all the winners for their splendid performance.The ceremony concluded with Vice Principal Mr. Anil Kathuria congratulating all the participants and expressing his gratitude towards BML Munjal University. He also congratulated the team organising the event for the success of the event.

On Tuesday, the 10th of October 2023, the students of class VI C presented their Class Assembly on the Topic- Gratitude is the Best Attitude. The assembly began with a soulful prayer by Rishabh, Himanya Garg, Kashish Arora, Aradhya Aggrawal, Arjun Veer Singh, Vedha, Vidita Tiwari, Khush Kirar, Lavish Kumar, and Tanish Dahiya. The Ganesh Vandana was gracefully performed by Vanya Adhikari and Riddhima Dalal. The thought for the day was shared by Atharva Puri, Manvik Sachdeva and Shoujash Mazumder. News headlines were presented by Advait Tokas, Aashman Arora, Daksh Gupta and Arjun Veer Singh. The audience was mesmerised by the beautiful song sung by the class choir comprising of Saksham Dhingra, Rishabh, Arkin Baksi, Shoujash Mazumder, Aarav Panami, Advait Tokas, Manvik Sachdeva, Kartik Kootiya, Gauransh Sain, Gunagya Sain, Aashman Arora, and Atharva Puri. A beautiful self composed poem was presented by Viraj Srivastava. Creative speeches by Riyaan Jain, Samaira Bhatia and Gauransh Sain enlightened everyone with the importance of Gratitude in one’s life. The concluding act was an energetic dance performance by Priya Thapa, Vaishnavi Thakur, Aarav Panami, Dhanishka, Himanya Garg, Vedha, Vidita Tiwari, Kiyan Arora, Aradhya Aggrawal, Riddhima Dalal, Vanya Adhikari, Samaira Bhatia and Anushka. The aim of the assembly was to let people realise how a grateful heart can sweeten even the smallest moments.

The students of the Expressions Theater Club of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram participated in ”Annual Fest 2023”- Nukkad Natak (sociology) organized by Delhi Public School, Dwarka on 14 October 2023. The students presented a thought provoking play on the social issue ”Bride Trafficking” putting their views across on the objectification and trafficking of young girls and women, and secured the First Position. DPS RK PURAM participated in a debate competition organised by DPS Dwarka on 14 October 2023. Avi Aryan – XI F and Shaurya Datta- XI P bagged the third position in the event. Shauya participated in the conventional debate format, an onsite event named Dilemma in Debate. Avi participated in a Declamation that was a video submission based event.
ANNUAL FEST 2023 : POEM ENACTMENT – Ist POSITION
The students of the Expressions Theatre club of Delhi Public School R.K Puram participated in “Annual Fest 2023”- Spoken Word Poetry organized by Delhi Public School Dwarka on 14 October 2023.The students presented a mesmerizing poem enactment on the theme “Parenthood” putting across the hardships woven with parenthood, and secured the First position. The Open House for Classes VIII organised on 14th October 2023 from 8am to 1pm aimed to facilitate substantive dialogue between parents and subject teachers. This event provided a platform for parents to engage in personalised discussions with subject teachers regarding their ward’s academic progress . Parents conveyed appreciation for the conscientious efforts and accomplishments of the educators and school authorities.
