Class XI Orientation Programme (2024-25)

An Orientation Programme for the parents of Class XI students was organised on Wednesday, 10 April, 2024. The programme focussed on introducing the parents to their ward’s class teacher and subject teachers, sharing the curriculum of various subjects, scheme of studies and the assessment pattern.

The Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan warmly welcomed the parents. She spoke about the class curriculum, code of conduct, importance of punctuality, keeping abreast with latest developments and updates in school through the student’s official email address and keeping teachers updated with their wards’ medical issues if any, presence of the school counsellors and various other aspects which the parents and students should focus upon.

The Vice Principals, Mr Naresh Miglani and Mr Anil Kathuria emphasised on the value of discipline and not to carry any gadgets to school along with the need for the involvement of parents in the learning process of their wards. The Class Representatives reiterated the importance of regularity and coordinating with the class teachers on a regular basis. The Class teachers explained the importance of disciplined behaviour and regular attendance of the students. Each subject teacher gave a detailed analysis of the curriculum pattern and evaluation analysis in the respective subjects. The parents were appreciative of the school’s efforts to facilitate an interaction with the subject teachers and the class teachers.

Class IX Orientation Programme (2024-25)

An Orientation programme was organised for the parents of class IX  new admissions on April 9th 2024 & 19th April 2024 for the parents of Class IX. The purpose of the Orientation Programme was to introduce the parents to the respective Class teachers and subject teachers as well as to introduce them to the curriculum of the various subjects.

The Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan warmly welcomed the parents. She spoke about the CBSE Board Examinations and the different aspects which the parents and students should focus upon to prepare for the same.

The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra spoke to the parents about the value of discipline along with the need for the involvement of parents in the learning process of their wards. The Class Representatives reiterated the importance of being regular to school. The Class teachers explained the code of conduct to be followed by the students. The parents were appreciative of the school’s efforts to facilitate an interaction with the subject teachers and the class teachers.

Universities Fair 2024

Delhi Public School, RK Puram, hosted over 23 International Universities at the Universities Fair 2024 held on 9 April 2024 at the Facility Wing from 10 am to 1 pm. Prestigious universities from the US and Hong Kong participated in this programme. University representatives interacted with students of classes XI and XII , providing them with important information related to the university as well as the application process and answered the queries of the prospective applicants. Representatives from the U.S. Universities participating were from the University of Delaware, University of Oklahoma, Stony Brook University, St. John’s University, Kansas State University to name a few. The representatives from Hong Kong were from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University, amongst others. The dynamic universities offered a vast range of courses such as Engineering, Business Management, Law, Art, Design and a plethora of liberal art courses to choose from. Students who attended this event and learned about the various aspects of international higher education, admissions, tuition fee and potential careers offered to them. The fair was a bright opportunity for high school students of our school to gain a better understanding of university education in the United States and Hong Kong and plan their future with an informed perspective.

  1. One Life Guard will be on duty shift-wise from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the swimming pool. 

  2. The swimming pools will be functional on 6 days of the week except gazetted holidays and Sundays.

  3. Swimming coaches  (Male & Female) will be on duty during the time the swimming pool is open.

  4. There will be no swimming during the rainy time.

NATIONAL BEST SELLER AWARD

Anisha Mahajan of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram bagged the National Best Seller Award for her Globally Published Book, ‘The Throne of Time’ at  the final event of National Young Author’s Fair 2023 . Anisha was amongst the top few winners to receive an award at this prestigious ceremony graced by H.E. Noar Gilon, the Ambassador of Israel in India, Mr.Bhavin Shah, CEO of Education World, Mrs.Sumita Gupta, India Lead Education and Skills at AWS and Ami Dror, Founder and CEO of Bribooks. Her book, ‘The Throne of Time’ which is selling numerous copies in 26+ countries on Amazon, was broadcast  on Disney International HD and was recognized by the Ministry of Education,  Government of India marking her place in the top authors featured in the Global Hall of Fame.

Delhi History Festival

A two-day educational cultural extravaganza Delhi History Festival ‘Education Through Monuments’, in association with M.S.M.S II Museum Trust was organised in K.R.Mangalam School G.K.II. The Delhi History Festival aimed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and historical significance of our culturally enhanced city.

The event was held on 3 April and 4 April 2024  from 8 am to 2 pm.Students of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram participated on the 4th of April 2024.They performed by reciting poetry,dance performance,classical singing accompanied by tabla and a painting as a background creating awareness on the monument of Redfort.The students who  participated in this event were Ashi Yadav IX C, Abhishree Rajwar XJ,  Akshainiae Agarwal XJ, Aditrishree XE,  Anhad Raj VIII D It inculcated in them awareness about the monument’s historical and cultural significance.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR CLASS XII (2024-25)

An Orientation session was held for the parents of students of class XII on 2nd April 2024 and 3rd  April 2024 from 2: 30 PM onwards. The Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, emphasized the cooperation of parents in developing the habit of being regular to School and that an increase in concentration span of the students was the need of the hour. The Vice Principal, Mr Naresh MIglani, addressed the issue of academic rigour amongst the students within the four walls of the classroom. He expressed his concern about the use of mobile phones in the classroom and informed the parents that students cannot carry them to School under any circumstances. Mr. Anil Kathuria, Vice Principal of Humanities stream, stressed upon strict discipline to be followed in the School and gave top priority to reaching School on time in proper School Uniform. Mr Mukesh Kumar, Vice Principal of Commerce Stream, urged the parents fraternity to keep in touch with all subject teachers and take a regular update about their ward’s performance on a regular basis. The Class Representatives welcomed the parents and students by introducing themselves and suggested contacting them in case of any admin issues. They touched upon the procedure of issuing LORs and suggested the students make use of their official mail id for any communication with the School. They stressed upon fruitful utilisation of the last academic session of the school for a better future. The Class teachers welcomed the parents and requested them to check the official mail id of the students on a regular basis for official updates. Parents were informed about the mandatory requirement of 75% attendance. All Class teachers shared the contact details of all the subject teachers and thereafter each subject teacher gave a brief introduction about their subject along with the books, course content, examination pattern and break up of marks. The session ended by answering the query of the parents. The parents were satisfied that they met all teachers in the beginning of the session itself and took their telephone numbers to be in touch with them. The session was fruitful, constructive and gainful.

Career Fair 2024

On 1 April 2024, Delhi Public School RK Puram hosted a Career Fair at the Junior branch, Delhi Public School Vasant Vihar. Over 6 universities from countries across the world  took part in this event. Some prestigious universities participating were Cornell University NewYork,Hamilton College, NewYork, Denison University, Ohio , Sarah Lawrence College, NewYork,University of Richmond, Virginia ,Occidental College,California , American University Washington DC.

The representatives of these universities imparted an abundance of information regarding their institutions, latest programmes, upcoming research and newly launched centres, as well as answered a range of queries from the potential applicants and their parents. Topics covered in the discussions were foreign education systems, admission process, fee structure, overhead charges etc. The universities offered a plethora of courses such as Engineering, Management, Business, Architecture, Law, Art, Design, Music and Film Production among other sought after courses. Brochures were provided and information was exchanged between the representatives and students for further communication.  

The event was attended by students and parents of class XII, who got an insight into the various features of international higher education and an array of career opportunities. This fair opened new doors for numerous students, and has proven to be a platform for both students and parents to gain a better grasp on university education

Financial Planning By: Mr.  Narinder Kumar Lamba

Money management skills are critical for individuals to maintain financial stability and achieve their financial goals. Teaching these skills can empower people to make informed decisions regarding their finances and foster long-term financial well-being. A session on FIRE movement i.e. Financial Independence & Retire Early was conducted in the Audio Visual Hall on 27 March 2024. The session started with an introduction to rich man’s rule of assets and liabilities and power of compounding. The resource person discussed the process of improving savings, major types of personal risks and how to cover the risks. He suggested embracing a reasonable lifestyle to reduce expenses, saving a significant portion and investing in stocks, real estate to generate passive income.

Organ Donation By: Mr. Rajesh Mittal (Rotarian)

A session on Organ Donation was organised for all teachers in the Audio Visual Hall on 26 March, 2024. The Resource person discussed various aspects of organ donation like who all can donate, organs and tissues that can be donated, brain stem death, relevance of consent in organ donation, legal framework related to organ donation, body donation and the process of donation. The session concluded with teachers asking questions and clearing various myths we all hear regarding organ donation.
