The Open House for Classes VIII organised on 28th October 2023 from 8am to 1pm aimed to facilitate substantive dialogue between parents and subject teachers. This event provided a platform for parents to engage in personalised discussions with subject teachers regarding their ward’s academic progress . Parents conveyed appreciation for the conscientious efforts and accomplishments of the educators and school authorities.

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the much awaited Class X Scholar Badge Ceremony 2022-23 on 26th of October 2023 at the Audio-Visual Hall (AVH) from 2 pm onwards to celebrate the academic and co-curricular achievements of the students.
The event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the chairman Shri VK Shunglu.He was felicitated by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan by our token of affection and regard.The programme commenced by a song on Ram Katha presented by the Indian vocal music Society. The sparkling melody embodied the spirit of ‘the victory of good over evil’.
A short movie, highlighting the school’s achievements , events organized, and the accolades received by the students, was presented.The Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan in her address welcomed, the chief guest Shri VK Shunglu and the proud parents of the students receiving the awards by thanking them for gracing the occasion with their presence. She commemorated the hard work put in by the students and emphasized the importance of balancing studies with relaxation as the key to ensure success in life.
A Musical Dance Drama was beautifully enacted by the X grade students exhibiting the events of Ramayana in a comprehensive manner. It narrated the story of Shri Rama’s birth, marriage and his victorious return to Ayodhya after triumphing over Ravana.The audience was mesmerised by the enthralling performance of the students in various roles and the riot of colours in their costumes.
The Chief Guest Shri V. K. Shunglu spoke on the necessity of removing the evil from within us. He commented on the plethora of choices available to grade X students in the years ahead and the need to think with clarity before choosing a path. He appreciated the exemplary performance of the talented vocalists and the students who had participated in the dance-drama, and concluded by saying that Ram exists only in the ones who defeat the Ravana within them.
The much awaited scholar badge ceremony began.Students were awarded Gold medals, Blue and Green badges, and certificates as a token of appreciation for their toil over the past year. In total, 201 Blue Badges, 72 Green Badges and 14 certificates for co-curricular achievements were awarded. Gold medals were awarded to all the students who had shown outstanding performance in academics.
Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, the Head Mistress,proposed the vote of thanks.She expressed her gratitude towards the Chief Guest Shri VK Shunglu for taking out time to grace the occassion, She also thanked the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan for providing a platform like this to showcase the talent of the students and for acknowledging their accomplishments at such a formal ceremony.She also expressed her gratitude towards the Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani,Mr Anil Kathuria ,Mr Mukesh Kumar along with the teachers and students who had played their part perfectly in successfully organizing the ceremony.
The National Anthem marked the end of the event.

Football Tournament 2023

Delhi Public School R.K. Puram hosted The DPS Football Tournament for Boys (open) 2023, from October 19 to October 21, 2023. DPS RK Puram was the host school for the inter-DPS matches of Zone-2. The event consisted of 21 competing teams divided into 8 pools, enthused to play and bag the winning trophy.
The opening ceremony on 19th October 2023 was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Shri VK Shunglu, Chairman, Managing Committee DPS RK Puram. The Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan felicitated the Chief Guest with a token of appreciation upon his arrival. This was followed by the inaugural lighting of the lamp, which was accompanied by a melodious shloka. The flag was hoisted and a rendition of a classic football song was presented by the Western Choir, enthralling the players and instilling in them a newfound motivation.
The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan addressed the gathering with a motivational speech, with emphasis on how every player is a winner. She encouraged the participants to give their best on the field, regardless of the outcome. An invigorating yoga performance ensued, displaying nuanced and synchronised movements. The esteemed chief guest shared thoughtful words of wisdom with the participants, touching upon the significance of establishing team-spirit and collectively working for the team’s success. He drew a parallel between the sport of football and the game of life, illustrating how the skills required in life are acquired through team sports like football.
The oath was administered by the Sports President to consolidate a sense of integrity and sportsmanship. The Chairman then declared the tournament open. A celebratory taekwondo demonstration followed, with coordinated formations and thrilling feats.The ceremony concluded with the commemorative photographs of the teams.
The tournament witnessed deftness and agility of the players, through 25 matches spanning 3 days. The quarter finals were conducted on the evening of 20th October, followed by the semi-finals on the morning of 21st October. The winners of the semi-finals, DPS Gurugram Sec. 45 and DPS Vasant Kunj competed in the final match, and the tournament was brought to an end with the much-awaited felicitation of the prolific players. The trophy was taken home by Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. The Best Player Award was presented to Suvrat Shankar Mishra from DPS Vasant Kunj, for scoring the highest number of goals in the tournament.
The closing ceremony ensued with an address by the head of the physical education department Mr N Suresh , commending the players for their dedication and consistent hard work. This was followed by a classical symphony by the Indian Vocal Choir. The award ceremony was conducted by the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, the Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, and Mr. N. Suresh, lauding the winners for their tenacious performance. The Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing his gratitude to all the individuals and departments that made hosting the championship possible. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem.

Assembly VII-A & VII-B (19-10-2023)
TOPIC – “FRIENDSHIP – A SPECIAL BOND”
“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It’s not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything.” With this theme in mind the students of VII A and VII B presented an assembly presentation on the topic- “Friendship – A special bond”. The Assembly began with the morning prayer- ‘He Sharde Maa’ to invoke goddess Saraswati the goddess of Knowledge and performing Arts. The Morning prayer was presented by – Abhigyan, Yogesh, Diksha, Sumit, Rayal, Tanishka, Swastik, Niharika, Parth, Shaurya, Vibha, Viyan, Arjun, Kushagra, Yug, Sakshi and Mahi. Next was the devotional dance titled ‘Bhaj Govindam’ composed by Adi Shankaracharya a prominent figure in Indian devotion movement. The dance was performed by – Zoya, Pratyusha, Lakshita, Diksha, and Rayal. Next the theme of the assembly was formally introduced by Tanishka. To motivate the viewers into thinking, the Thought for the day was presented by Ansh, Kushagra, Raghav Baisoya, Tanishka and Arjun. The Students presented the important news headlines of the Day. The news was presented by Kripa, Swastik and Arjun. The talent of the students was showcased very well with the Self Composed poetry by Pihu. An assembly presentation is incomplete without a skit, dance and Orchestra presentation. Various art forms were showcased in the assembly. First was a theme related skit cum musical presentation titled – Krishna Bhakta Sudama. The skit highlighted the value of a true friend in everyone’s life. The events were narrated by Suryansh and enacted by M.Bhargav, Rajveer, Viyan, Vibha and Aniket. The last event of the presentation was a melodious, enchanting and mesmerising Musical orchestra performance by Yogesh, Abhigyan, Tanishka, Raghav Baisoya, Parth, Yug, Niharika, Vibha, Prisha and Viyan. The main comperes of the event were M.Bhargav, Kripa, Tanishka, Ansh, Suryansh, Pihu, Zoya, Sakshi and Ansh. Cards and Board were prepared by Zoya, Lakshita, Rajveer, Mahima and Pratyusha. The digital presentation was created by Kian, Archit, Swastik and Adyan. Cupcakes were baked by Rajveer for inviting the Principal, Headmistress and our class representative.

TOPIC – “DURGA PUJA- THE VICTORY OF GOOD OVER EVIL”
Durga Puja is one of the most auspicious and significant festivals for the Bengali community not only in India but all over the world. It marks the homecoming of Goddess Durga and the victory of good over evil as the goddess killed Mahisashur, the demon. To celebrate ‘Durga Puja’ with zest and vigour, Classes IX G and IX H came together for their Class Assembly. It began with an ardent prayer to Goddess Saraswati by Manaswita, Vaishnavi, Ashi, Kshitij Bhatia, Rishika Kumari, Khushi Verma, Yana Mehra, Yogesh Kumar, Shubham Maurya, Milan Kumar, Ridit Aggarwal, Hriday Poddar, Saisha Bajaj, Tejaswi Raj, Aliza Fatema, Shivam, Akshita Dua, Anshuman Pal, Vipin Kumar, Gagan Raikwar, Ayansh Negi, Vanshaj Batheja and Anup Saroj. This was followed by the recitation of the Sanskrit Shlok and its meaning by Tejaswi Raj and Pratyusha Bhatt. The beautiful dance of Bharatanatyam was then presented by Aradhana Prakash Ranjan depicting the power and strength of Goddess Durga. The news bulletin was read by Akshita Dua, Arav Jindal, Anant Jha and Adhavan Bava. The thoughts for the day were expressed by Ridit Aggarwal, Arnav Mohan Srivastava, Paavika Chaudhary and Monika. A soulful group song performance was presented by Manaswita, Vaishnavi, Ashi, Kshitij Bhatia, Rishika Kumari, Khushi Verma and Yana Mehra. The concluding act was a mesmerising group dance performed by Shrutika Barman, Pallavi Singh, Ananya, Paavika Chaudhary, Ramya Kapoor and Akshita Srivastava. The comperes for the programme were Vaidehi Singh, Mohd Arsh Khan, Ashi, Shaurya Dilwaria, Pratyusha Bhatt and Aliza Fatema. The soft board, folders and invitation cards for the assembly were made by Pallavi Singh, Mohd Arsh Khan, Ashi, Divisha Garg, Devanshi Garg, Trisha Rana, Pranavi Kapoor, Vanya Mehta, Sanjana Kehair, Maira Anand, Naisha Bhalla, Saisha Bajaj, Akshita Dua, Anant Jha and Hriday Poddar. National Deworming Campaign
The National Deworming Campaign was held from 10th to 17th October, 2023 as per the initiative by the Directorate of Family Welfare, GNCTD. The campaign involved administration of a single age appropriate dose of Albendazole to all children and adolescents in the age group of 1-19 years.
DPS RK Puram successfully executed the campaign on 16th and 17th October 2023 for classes VI to XII.
The medicines were administered by the following Paediatricians in the presence of the parents of the the students

OPEN HOUSE – CLASS X
The Open House for the parents of Class X was organised on 7 October 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in order to facilitate a fruitful interaction between the parents and the subject teachers. The parents interacted with the subject teachers on a one-to-one basis regarding their ward’s academic performance in the half yearly examination. Parents were appreciative of the efforts of the teachers and the school authorities.
OPEN HOUSE FOR CLASS XII
The Open House for the parents of class XII students was held on 14th October 2023.CLASS XII (2023-2024)An email was sent on the official email id of the students regarding the schedule of the PTM. Both parents were asked to attend the PTM in order to sign the LOC for the upcoming CBSE exams 2024. Students were also allowed to accompany their parents for the same.
Wardens took feedback about the hostellers from the respective class teachers and further informed the parents about the same. Parents met the subject teachers as well and were informed about the upcoming Pre boards and practical exams. Few hotellers’ parents also attended the PTM. Class teachers gave the report card of the half yearly exam to the parents and they were informed about the remedial classes of various subjects. Parents interacted with the foreign admission counsellor as well and were updated about the deadlines for the same. The session was fruitful, constructive, and productive.

DPS RK Puram celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti week from 3-10-2023 to 6-10-2023 under the able guidance and direction of the Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan.Activities in collaboration with the various departments were designed to encourage students on a path of self-discovery of the great ideals of Gandhiji and important information about the aspects of the life of the Mahatma.
Activities conducted by the English department:
- Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi : Role Play Activity for Gandhi Jayanti
As we celebrated the inspiring life of Mahatma Gandhi on Gandhi Jayanti, students got involved in a role play activity that brought his principles to life. Each student had the opportunity to step into the shoes of historical figures influenced by Gandhian Philosophy or modern scenarios influenced by Gandhian values.The students were given some topics related to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi including the principles of nonviolence, truth, and civil disobedience.
Students were to choose a role, such as Gandhi, a freedom fighter, a British official, or a modern advocate for social change inspired by Gandhi’s philosophy. Students would develop short scenarios or dialogues that showcased the chosen characters in situations reflecting Gandhian principles. Students were allowed to get creative with costumes and basic props to enhance the authenticity of their characters and add an exciting visual element to their role play. The time limit given to the students was 1 to 1.5 minutes.
- Remembering the Great Leader : A slogan writing competition
This event was organised for students of classes IX and X. The Students were to research about the life of Mahatma Gandhi and write a suitable slogan based on the theme. The slogans needed to be prepared in the class on Tuesday, 3rd October 2023 in the English periods. They were then submitted to the respective English teachers on the same day itself.
- Remembering the Great Leader : Just a Minute
This activity was conducted for the students of Classes IX and X on Tuesday, 3rd October 2023 in the respective English periods.The Students were to research about the life of Mahatma Gandhi based on the theme beforehand. On the day of the activity, teachers gave topics based on the theme and students got 15 minutes to prepare a short speech on any one of the topics. The Students were to present their speech in the class once they had prepared it. The Duration of the speech was 1 minute.

The Students presented their thoughts on one of the most famous principles of Mahatma Gandhi- “Gandhi’s three monkeys”. This activity helped the students to understand the basic moral values and apply them to their daily activities.
- Class VII:
The students were required to select one of their favourite slogans from Mahatma Gandhi and present a 1- minute characterization of a situation related to the chosen slogan. This activity expanded their knowledge on the aspects of Mahatma’s life.
- Class VIII:
The Students researched thoroughly on some of the personalities that were a source of inspiration for Mahatma Gandhi. Students were then asked to present their research work. This activity helped them to go in depth about the life of different freedom fighters expanding their knowledge.

Political Science Department
Class XI celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, honouring one of the most influential figures in history. It was a fabulous opportunity to introduce our younger generations to his life, philosophies, and teachings. Mahatma Gandhi, known for his unwavering principles of non-violence, truth, and simplicity, led a powerful legacy extending far beyond his role in India’s struggle for independence. The students comprehended his values which impart crucial lessons about peace, social justice, and resilience and wrote some on the board.
