“GOLD MEDAL” IN THE HKIMO MATHEMATICS HEATS

Anay Seth of XII K was  awarded a “Gold Medal” in the HKIMO Mathematics Heats and was one of the 45 students globally to have been selected for the prestigious MasterScholar NCMC Camp (MasterScholar – Elevate Your Academic Journey (master-scholar.com).MasterScholar is a series of highly selective academic programmes , dedicated to helping the most talented students who are seeking guidance from world-class faculty of all academic fields. Supported by the strong network of ASC and KSE, The MasterScholar NCMC Camp would include research presentations as well as paper write-ups. All participants will receive a project completion certificate.The  MasterScholar NCMC Camp is being held at Raleigh, North Carolina and requires all participants to be onsite from July 7 to July 20

LET’S GET THE SPARROWS BACK:RESTORING NATURE’S MELODY

DPS RK Puram Campaign to save and enhance awareness about the Common House Sparrow 

House Sparrow, once an integral part of our immediate environment, disappeared almost two decades ago. The common bird that lived in the cavities of our houses and polished off our leftover food, today sits on the red list of the endangered species of The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

March 20 being observed as the ‘World Sparrow Day’ and the house sparrow being declared the state bird of Delhi in 2012. 

Sparrows are fascinating creatures that play an essential role in both urban and rural ecosystems, and their presence serves as a reminder of the intricate connections between humans and the natural world.

  • Helps in Seed dispersal

Sparrow populations have experienced declines in recent years, particularly in urban areas where changes in habitat and food availability have impacted their numbers. Loss of nesting sites, pesticide use, and competition with invasive species are among the factors contributing to sparrow declines. Efforts to conserve sparrows often involve creating suitable habitat, reducing pesticide use, and raising awareness about the importance of these charismatic birds in our ecosystems.

There are various causes for the decline in their numbers:  predation, especially by Eurasian Sparrowhawks,electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones,diseases,shortage of nesting spaces in urban areas,inadequate presence of insect food for nestling sparrows,declines in insect populations,substitution of native plants in cities,introduction of unleaded petrol, which produces toxic compounds such as methyl nitrite.

Sparrows build their nests in a variety of locations, including cavities in buildings, trees, and shrubs. The increasingly urban landscape and jungles of concrete in the city are losing out on the sweet chirping of birds, with not enough trees left for the avians to build their nest. Ensuring that the sweet melody returns is possible by artificial nests.An artificial nest provides a platform to common bird species for breeding. The bird collects the rest of the material.

Under the guidance of our Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan, the  Campaign to save and enhance awareness about the Common House Sparrow was planned and executed by the Campaign Incharge , Ms Niva Chhonkar, Head: Biology department. The students of Classes IV to XII were given a Video presentation of Nest making with essential guidelines using easily available environment friendly material.The feedback was collected as photographs.Many Students enthusiastically  participated in the ‘Sparrow Quiz’. Students who participated in the quiz and made nests were awarded a certificate.

The aim now is to add nests in different locations of the school and provide ambience for Sparrow Nesting.

Byte. IT 2024

Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura, New Delhi hosted a photography competition called Snap.It, which was held from 2nd-6th July 2024. It consisted of two rounds including the prelims and then the final round itself which was hosted offline. Participants were asked to take photos that resonated with the given prompt and represent it through their originality, creativity, and skill. Rajvir Ajmani from the DIGEX Club secured First Position.

Assembly XII-C & XII-E (04-07-2024)

TOPIC: “FROM CLASSROOM TO COSMOS’: TRANSFORM IMAGINATION TO DIGITAL REALM”

On the morning of 4th July, the students of class XII C and XII E presented an engaging and thought-provoking assembly centered around the theme ‘From Classroom to Cosmos: Transform Imagination to Digital realm’’.The assembly celebrated both the marvels of technological advancements and the timeless values of human interaction and support.

An impactful morning prayer sung by Sukeerat, Gauri, Saumya, Gaurpriya, Md Meeran, Md Farhaan, Shwetna, Arunima Sharma, Arunima Dixit, Lakshya Tanwar, Vatsal Shreeranga, Pia Naik. Kavya Mehta, Pranshu Shivam, Maverick Hemam, Gyanshu Raj, Tanush Jayara, Aryun Singh, Praavir Sahu, Saksham and Sarthak Sinha commenced the assembly. Our Vice Principal, Mr. Naresh Miglani led the gathering through the morning prayer.

The Comperes Navya Wadhwa, Dishi and Namya Kohli introduced the assembly’s central theme and introduced a graceful Classical Dance performed by Dhruvi and Shaivi Singh. Spiritual Shloka on Buddhism conveying the message of positivity was recited by Gaurpriya and Luv Anand followed by motivational thought by Riya Toteja and Gyanshu Raj. The audience was then allowed to brush up on their general knowledge through the news segment of the assembly; delivered by Lakshay Tanwar, Riya Toteja, Praavir Sahu and Mannat Kaur.

Next Ishita announced a captivating live Contemporary Dance performance. It fascinated everyone depicting a wide range of emotions, creative expressions and innovative choreography performed by Pranavi Parihar, Tanishqa Manocha, Ifra and Pranaya Gupta of XII C on the song “Teri Dastaan” sung by Sukeerat Kaur, Vatsal Shreeranga, Gauri, Ishanvi Gautam accompanied by trained guitarist Vatsal Shreeranga .

Enthralling skit was written by Areen Abid, Sukeerat Kaur, Abhineeth Banerjee and Namya Kohli of XII C on the theme of Changing Era of education due to evolving Artificial Intelligence. It was introduced by Lakshya Tanwar and Vaishnavi Sairam and illustrated the transformation of classrooms with the integration of robotic teachers with a humorous twist. Powerful performances were given by Kashika Tayal, Gauri, Md Farhaan, Md Meeran,Mannat Bhardwaj, Arunima Dixit, Saumya Shivani, Abhineeth Banerjee,Arunima Sharma ,Tanishqa Manocha and Namya Kohli of XII C and Mohd. Zaid Iqbal of XII E and narrated by Sukeerat Kaur, Vatsal Shreeranga, Tanishqa Manocha, Md Meeran Raza and Namya Kohli of XII C.

The skit was followed by an enthusiastic and exciting western dance performed by Abhineet Banerjee, Gaurpriya, Mannat Bhardwaj, Pranavi Parihar, Mohd. Zaid Iqbal and Vikhyat Saini leaving the crowd energized. The power of melody and harmony through western music was delivered by our talented choir of comprising of singers Sukeerat Kaur, Gauri, Vatsal Shreeranga, Shwetna Dutt, Kavya Mehta, Ishanvi Gautam, Pia Naik, Arunima Sharma, Arunima Dixit, Kavya, Maverick Hemam, Pranshu Shivam, Gyanshu Raj, Tanush Jayara, Elisha Rokimi Cherpoot, Rayna Borah, Lalchhuansangii Bawitlung and instrumentalists were Malsawmkima on electric guitar and Tejas Bal on acoustic guitar.

The assembly concluded with a self composed poem written by Kanak Ahuja of XII C and Agustya Vaid of XII E and recited by Arunima Dixit of XII Cand Mannat Kaur of XII E.The Assembly Board was creatively prepared by Saumya Shivani, Aadhya Jindal, Ishita Das. Arunima Dixit, Areen Abid, Elisha Rokimi Cherpoot, Tejas Bal, Rishit Aggarwal, Pratishtha Sairaj Sinha and e Invite was made by Vaishnavi Sairam, Harkrishna Ahuja ,Rishit Aggarwal and Agustya Vaid

Invites and folders were meticulously crafted by Saumya, Harkrishna Ahuja, Lakshya Tanwar, Aadhya Jindal Gauri, Elisha Rokimi Cherpoot, Tejas Bal and Umika Sood. Mesmerizing memories while rehearsing were compiled in the form of “Behind the Scenes” by Harkrishna Ahuja and Lakshya Tanwar of XII CPamphlets were designed by Harkrishna and Lakshya, Digital presentation was prepared by Rida Rehman and Rishit Aggarwal.

Overall the assembly was a remarkable exploration of the future of education with robotic teachers. It successfully combined the excitement of technological advancements with the enduring values of human interaction and support.

 NATIONAL WATER CHAMPION AT THE STOCKHOLM JUNIOR WATER PRIZE INDIA

Mannat Kaur, student of Class XII-E, has been awarded the title of National Water Champion at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize India on 5th June 2024 at IIT Madras. She will represent India at the International Stockholm Junior Water Prize 2024 during the World Water Week (25th – 29th August) in Stockholm, Sweden.

E Pledge Against the Menace of Drugs

SHELEADS CONVENTIONAL DEBATE

“A woman is truly free, when she has the confidence of choice.”

Under the aegis of Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram, members of DebSoc, the Debating Society, participated in the prestigious SheLeads Conventional Debate Competition, held by Education New Zealand Manapou Ki Te Ao. The event, imbued with a spirit of justice and female empowerment, took place at the New Zealand High Commision, on 18th May 2024. 

Part of a larger initiative started by Education New Zealand Manapou Ki Te Ao, the debate competition was held over two separate rounds, with an intra-school selection round taking place first, followed by the finals- where two students from the club represented the school at the embassy and spoke on the topic “The Impact of Flexible Work Policies on Gender Diversity in Leadership”.

With the expert mentorship and support of the club in-charges, Ms. Kakoli Sengupta and Ms. Livano Banerjee, Shaurya Datta of XII -P and Pranshu Gupta of XII -Q were able to secure the 1st Position (for the motion) and the 2nd Position (Against the Motion) respectively.
