The Morning Assembly conducted by XI-V on the 22nd of August, 2024 was based on our Nation’s Independence struggle and aptly titled “At the stroke of midnight.” The class assembly began with a beautiful prayer by Mahi Ramteke, Arahant Singh, Adhiya Bhat, Aarna Dudeja, Anishaa Wangkhem, Hana, Karthik Piyush Athreye, Kavya Jain, Khwairakpam Russel, Lekhika Kanwar, Neelanjana Maggo, Tiya Kalra, Vivaan Pandey, Shanaya Jain, Yaashikka Razdan, Shanaya Jain and Yashica Rathore; Ashtalakshmi Stotram by Rishita Kapur, followed by a skit by Ishaan Agarwal, Gunraj Singh Arora, Shaurya Veer Khurana, Sonakshi Segal and Spreaha Manna which aimed to present the Indian National Independence struggle in an interesting way. The play also incorporated a self-composed poem by Adhiya Bhat, News headlines provided by Parmeshwarya, Adya Bhagat, Aditi Singh, Anishaa Wangkhem and Saarthak Singh Rawat, Thought of the day by Kavya Jain, 2 songs by Mahi Ramteke, Arahant Singh, Adhiya Bhat, Aarna Dudeja, Anishaa Wangkhem, Hana, Kavya Jain, Khwairakpam Russel, Neelanjana Maggo, Tiya Kalra and two dance performances by Aadya Gupta, Jiya Chaudhary, Shruti Nandni, Vaanya Jain, Yaashikka Razdan, and Yashica Rathore to take the audience on a journey through the past and present. The students participated in the assembly in an enthusiastic and passionate fashion.
Digital presentation and E-invite was made by Thavanesh Rao. The Comperes were Bhavini Gaur, Samriddhi Dhankhar, Yashica Rathore and Parmeshwarya Adya Bhagat. DPS Dwarka organized Spectrum-Mélange on 17 August 2024, featuring the event ARTHRAJ for classes XI and XII. Each school could send a team of three students, with the event scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. ARTHRAJ was a case study analysis competition that tested participants’ economic acumen and critical thinking. Registered participants received a case study with problem statements on the spot, and further guidelines were provided along with the case study. Judging was based on the relevance of solutions, logical reasoning, application of economic knowledge, and general aptitude.
In the SURPRISE EVENT , participants were tested on basic knowledge of business related topics.
In VENTURE REBIRTH , Participants analyzed a failed startup, identified the reasons for its failure, and proposed strategies to revive it.

Delhi Public School R.K. Puram celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024.
The event commenced with the unfurling of the National flag by the Principal , Ms. Padma Srinivasan, which was followed by the national anthem. After a few hearty cheers of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’, a beautiful song was presented by two students of the Performing Arts Society that spoke of the beauty of sacrifice and instilled the audience with pride and respect for the nation.
This was followed by an address by the Principal , Ms. Padma Srinivasan, who highlighted the importance of national unity and looking beyond the various aspects that divide Indian society. She talked about the significance of equality among people and the value of sacrifice. She spoke of the great freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the people and that we must uphold their legacy and do our utmost to contribute to our nation’s rise. She concluded by providing the students with valuable advice to dedicate themselves to their studies and make our country proud.
The Vice Principal , Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria, elaborated further on the principal’s concluding thoughts and spoke about the value of the contributions all of us make at an individual level for the progress of the nation. He inspired the students to put in their best efforts in their academics and uphold the core values of the country. As we celebrate the triumph of freedom, equality, and justice, let us uphold all the virtues embodied by the Tricolour and dedicate ourselves to making our country proud.

With the ‘Independence Day’ theme in mind, the Class Assembly of IX I and IX J began with a heartfelt morning prayer ‘Ye Mat Kaho Khuda Se’. The morning prayer was performed by Saisha, Naintara, Taneesha, Mrinal, Aliya, Guneet, Aura, Alisha, Arnav, Ashi, Sasha, Saisha, Khushi, Suhani, Gauri, Kiara, Ayush, Aahana, Animikha, Geet, Devraj, Taksheel, Trividh and Ayush, Khadija, Mahikaa and Mananya. This was followed by the Shiv Tandav; dance form – Kathak, performed by Aarna, Arusha, Aakriti and Himanshi. Aarav Vijan and Sarvesh introduced the topic: Heritage of Freedom Fighters: Preserving our Liberty. Koel and Saisha shared their thoughts for the day. News headlines were presented by Aarav Goel, Aishani, Mahika and Mananya followed by a self-composed poetry recited by Aura Bose reflecting the dynamic journey of Independence.
Thereafter, an enthralling skit depicting the Pre Independence struggles and post independence achievements was presented by Zarah, Shaurya, Govind, Ruhaan, Misha, Hridhan, Savya, Rafan, Mudit, Anshuman, Arnav, Adit, Meisha, Bhavya, Achintya, Jistina, Jayati,Suramya and Sampann, Rayyan. A fusion of Western and Indian instrumental music was performed on the theme by Kshitij, Pranad, Aaira, Ridhima, Aarav, Hriman, Anika, Devaang, Krishna and Vihaan. A Hindi group song was sung followed by skit by Saisha, Naintara, Anika, Shikha, Taneesha, Ashi, Sasha, Saisha, Khushi, Suhani, Gauri, Kiara, Aahana, Animikha and Geet, Khadija, Mahikaa, Mananya. Post that there was a soulful dance performance performed by Ritika, Shruti, Ranjana, Arohi, Vanshika and Manha followed by skit. A hindi poem was presented by Reyaa and Samaira.
The comperes of the programme were Akshara, Ayush, Aarav Vijan and Sarvesh. A model depicting a lady swinging and wavering the Indian flag was prepared by Samaira and Reyaa Modi. Another model showcasing the peacock with tricolour was made by Shikha and Anshuman. The Digital presentation was made and presented by Govind, Kshitij, Krishna, Naitik, Saranya and Aarav. The soft board, dove badges, folders were prepared by Shikha, Adit, Anshuman, Alisha, Aarna, Aaira, Aliya, Aura, Reyaa, Samaira, Mahikaa, Manha, Manaya, Jistina, Suramya, Aakriti, Khushi, Suhani, Bhavya, Saisha, and Sasha. The vote of thanks was delivered by the class teachers of 9I and 9J.
The assembly was an initiative to spread awareness about the importance of Independence, a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who fought tirelessly for the country’s independence and to embrace its spirit, cherishing the values of togetherness, gratitude and a sense of belonging that it imparts in our society.

“Colour is the place where our brain and the universe meet”
Humanities Fest 2024 was hosted by Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on the theme: “All Colours Are Beautiful” on 10 August 2024 by the Departments of History, Political Science, Geography, Legal Studies, Sociology and Psychology. The various competitions which were a part of this event encouraged students to display their vibrant talents and expressions through a diverse range of mediums ranging from dance,drama,art and oratory .The fest aimed at providing students with a platform where they could enjoy the thrill of competition with a great learning experience. It helped the students by broadening their horizon in various disciplines of Humanities and also in developing an interdisciplinary approach.
The theme for the Fest this year was ‘All Colours are Beautiful’. It signified the diverse ways in which students can express themselves on a variety of issues, through the multifarious on-site and off-site activities such as Dance-Drama, Moot Court, Turn-Coat debate, Ads Act, Caricature /Cartoon making, Storytelling, Nukkad Natak, Photography and Movie – Making.

Nritya Lahari-Dance Drama
Nritya Lahari was a dance competition that explored the correlation between movements and emotions. It tested the ability of the participants to express, emote and represent the given theme, portraying their perspective through the medium of dance.The theme was ‘Har Sikke ke do Pehlu’.The judges, Ms. Anuba Arora and Ms. Jyotsna Ram evaluated the performances based on the depiction of the theme, choreography, originality/creativity, synchronisation and overall presentation
Legal Labyrinth- The Moot Court Simulation
The participants of this competition were given a fictional problem accompanied by relevant information. The event included participants from 14 schools. Each team consisted of a researcher along with a petitioner or respondent. The event provided a valuable opportunity to students to hone their legal and vocal advocacy skills by arguing on a matter of law. The teams were judged on the basis of their understanding and application of facts, written submissions, the presentation of issues and their advocacy ability. The judges for this event were Advocates Vivek Narayan Sharma and Ishita Kohli.
The Devil’s Advocate: A Turncoat Debate
‘Turncoat’ is a form of debate where the speaker flips sides and debates against himself. The speaker starts by taking a stance on the topic and switches sides after a specific duration of time or by taps. The event included five topics, ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Oscillating AQI levels. The judges for this event were Mr. Avichal Bhatnagar and Ms. Sugandha Bhandhari who judged the students’ performance on the basis of Relevance to the theme, quality of content & arguments, logical coherence and clarity of thought, oratory skills, diction and voice modulation, convincing perspective and effectiveness, spontaneity in switching their stance
Antarnaad-Nukkad Natak Presentation
Antarnaad gave students a unique opportunity to creatively present important environmental and social issues related to the theme ‘Water Conservation’through satire, comedy, sarcasm and pun in their act. Every act was beautifully prepared and captivating. After the completion, the judges, Ms. Kaumudi Sharma gave the students constructive feedback on their performances and Ms. Saanvri Kapoor gave a brief demonstration engaging the students. The judgement criteria for this event was clarity of content, expression of emotions, social message, originality & creativity, overall impact of the performance.
Kathākāritā-Storytelling competition
Storytelling is an ancient and valuable art form of human expression. The storyteller & the listener form a bond in which one’s own experiences, beliefs, & understandings come to the fore to create a compelling experience. It is the art of using language, vocalisation & gesture to influence, inspire, & engage the audience. Students from classes VI-VIII participated in this competition. The participants were allowed to choose any one story from Indian heritage like the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Panchatantra, the Jatakas tales or from any other Indian literary source. The judges for the event were Ms. Kaumudi Sharma and Ms.Fatima Kirmani. The participants were judged on the basis of poise and stage presence with facial expressions, delivery-voice projection and enunciation as well as the moral of the story.
Insight-Social Advertisement Act
The competition required the participants to enact an advertisement on any social issue in a unique way. They were judged on the type of issue, the message conveyed, creativity, originality, presentation, coordination and overall appeal of the advertisement. The participating teams highlighted societal problems and a way to progress ahead through creative and eye-opening enactment. The judges for this event Mr. Anil Kumar Saxena and Dr. T. Sangameshwar Rao were impressed by the performances and gave detailed feedback to students for further improvisation.
Visual Wit-Caricature/ Cartoon making
Visual Wit was a caricature/cartoon making competition that aimed to engage students in exploring and expressing their perspectives on significant national and international events through artistic creativity. This competition encouraged students to think critically about current affairs, historical events, leaders and policies, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of social, political, and cultural issues. It gave students an excellent opportunity to hone their ability, to artistically use wit and wisdom. The event was judged by Mr. Anil Kumar Saxena and Dr. T. Sangameshwar Rao. The judgement criteria included creativity, originality, Message Conveyed,
visual communication and Overall appeal.
Glass eye- Photography competition
This competition was about voicing opinions and perspectives on the topic through the medium of photography. The activity encouraged the children to capture some of the moments of everyday life that aren’t easily visible but can be captured through a photographer’s lens. The theme was ‘The Earth We Share’. The students were judged on the basis of relevance to the theme, visual & aesthetic appeal & uniqueness. The judges for this competition were Ms.Tushita Roy & Mr. Arjun Bhagat.
Showreel-Movie Making competition
The idea behind this movie making event was to provide an opportunity to the participants to interpret and analyse the theme, ‘Humanity v/s Technology’ and present it in the form of a movie. The participants had to make use of their artistic vision and creative skills to present the movie in a way that would make the audience introspect. The judgement criteria was originality, creativity, performance, cinematography and relevance to the theme. The judges for this event were Ms.Saanvri Kapoor and Mr. Dushyant Kumar.
The Valedictory Ceremony began with an address by the Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria. He emphasised upon the importance of teamwork and sharing ideas. He motivated the students to always stay curious and learn even from failures. He stated that Humanities, in particular, is an important stream, because it stretches one’s imagination and challenges one’s mind to become more responsive and critical. He also congratulated the participating schools for their enthusiastic display of talents.
This was followed by winning performances of dance drama and stage plays . The winning photographs as well as the winning short movie were also showcased.
Next, the much anticipated results were declared, with the overall winners trophy going to Delhi Public School R.K.Puram who, being the host school, passed it onto Delhi Public School Faridabad.

The Think Club of Delhi Public School R. K. Puram organised their annual inter-school fest – Think Summit 2024 on 10th August 2024. The event aims to foster individuality in students and provides to them a platform for experiential learning and innovation.The various competitions included in the event are designed to help students think creatively and develop a solution oriented approach towards the paradoxes of modern life. It has proven to be a potent stage for the students to showcase their exceptional brainstorming abilities.
The event was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing both online and on-site participation. The summit featured seven engaging events, providing a platform for young talent to showcase their exceptional brainstorming abilities and the transformative power of thinking. Think Summit ‘24 attracted the enthusiastic participation of 28 schools from across Delhi NCR.

Students of Class VI were supposed to make a poster and share a write up on their own superpowers.The event asked students to introspect and find how they are helping the world. The event was judged by Dr Manish Rawat, an assistant professor from Galgotias University, and Dr. Shivam Mehta, a technical consultant at salesforce.
Intergalactic Adventures: A Journey Across the Cosmos (Online)
In this event, participants from Class VII created captivating comic strips depicting the various celestial phenomena occurring in the cosmos. The judges Ms. Lijo Jose, the director of operations at HBox.ai, and Ms.Radha Ubarhande, an analytic consultant at BSG, marked the participants on the parameters of their creativity and originality, and the relevance And uniqueness of their presentation.
On-Air: From Studio to Stardom (Online)
Participants, who were from Class VIII, recorded a 1-1.5 minute news clip showcasing an innovative concept that they identified in their neighbourhood or created themselves, its real world application, and its potential impact on society or a specific industry. The innovation would be discussed in a news reporting format. The judges for the event were Mr. Nikhar Mathur, who works for Mastercard, and Ms.Anjali Sharma, a skilled developer and a talented artist.
India’s Think Tank: Leading Minds, Transforming Futures (On-site)
Participants from Classes IX to XII were given a list of problems and related criteria attached. The team could choose any one topic and had to pitch their idea in front of the judges. Some of the topics given to the students were-

This event challenged students to create real world innovations. The bright minds from classes IX to XII were given topics and prompts at the time of the event. Each team chose 4 slips (Industry, Technology, Sensory devices and Mechanical devices), with the help of which they had to innovate and solve a real world problem. Participants were given a specified amount of time to research their topics over the internet and make a digital presentation based on their innovation. The participants were marked on their originality and feasibility by the judges Dr. Vaishali Kohli, a professor at BML Munjal University, and Mr. Gaurav Ajwani, a practice lead in Randstad India Pvt. Ltd.
Confabulation: Discussions that inspire (On-site)
The event required students to articulate, express and discuss their ideas. The group discussion aimed to assess the overall thinking-perspectives, thoughts, feelings and behaviour of an individual in a group. The event was deemed by Dr. Manu V. Mathew, an assistant professor at the School of Liberal Arts, Mr. Aseem Sood, an entrepreneur and an corporate professional, and Mr. Vedatman Sonpal
Catalyst For Change: Proposing SDG Solutions (On-site)
The competition aimed to deepen students’ understanding of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by encouraging innovative problem solving through original working models, prototypes or software applications. It enhanced research, presentation, and teamwork skills, culminating in an exhibition where students showcase their projects and engage with their communities to address real-world sustainability challenges.The competition consisted of two rounds:Round 1 was held online where the ten best teams were selected for the final round held today. The ideas were marked on the basis of their Innovation, scalability and relevance by the judges Dr Aastha Ahuja, and academician from Delhi University, and Ms. Sarah Haq, an Assistant Professor in the School of Liberal Studies at BML Munjal University.The Valedictory ceremony began.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign was initiated as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage households to proudly display the Tiranga, commemorating India’s independence. This year, the “Har Ghar Tiranga” celebrations will take place nationwide from 13th to 15th August, 2024. The objective is to inspire individuals to hoist the national flag at their homes and share their pride by uploading selfies on www.harghartiranga.com.
An enlightening session on e-waste was conducted in the AVH for students of classes VII, VIII and IX in the 7th, 8th and 9th periods respectively on On August 12, 2024, by Ms. Pooja and Ms. Smriti from the NGO Chintan. The session aimed to raise awareness about e-waste and its environmental impact. The discussion covered a broad range of topics, including what e-waste is, the consequences of improper disposal of electronic items, and the implications of rising consumerism on electronic waste.
Key Topics Covered were
Understanding E-Waste E-waste, or electronic waste, refers to discarded electrical and electronic devices. These items include old computers, mobile phones, televisions, and other gadgets that are no longer in use or have reached the end of their useful life.
Disposal and Its Consequences The facilitators addressed critical issues related to the disposal of electronic devices. They highlighted that when an electronic device stops working, it should not be hastily considered as waste. Instead, proper recycling or disposal methods should be followed to minimize environmental impact.
Old Cables and Components: A specific point of discussion was whether old cables should be discarded with regular waste like paper. It was emphasized that electronic components, including cables, contain toxic substances and should not be mixed with regular waste. Instead, they should be sorted and sent to specialized e-waste recycling facilities.
Toxic Substances in Electronics The insights into the hazardous substances present in everyday electronics. These include:
Precious Metals: Platinum, silver, copper, and gold, which, if not properly handled, can contribute to environmental pollution.
Heavy Metals: Lead, nickel, and bromine, which pose severe health risks and environmental hazards when disposed of improperly.
Obsolescence and Technological Progress The session also touched on the concept of technological obsolescence. With rapid advancements in technology, electronic devices can become obsolete quickly. It was discussed how rising consumerism contributes to a shorter lifespan of electronic items, leading to increased e-waste.
Consumerism and E-Waste The facilitators highlighted the connection between rising consumerism and the generation of e-waste. As technology advances, consumers often upgrade their devices more frequently, discarding still-functional electronics. This behavior accelerates the e-waste problem and emphasizes the need for responsible consumption and recycling practices.
Conclusion
The session concluded with a call to action, urging participants to be more mindful of their electronic waste and to follow proper disposal and recycling practices. Ms. Pooja and Ms. Smriti encouraged attendees to support and participate in e-waste recycling programs and to adopt sustainable practices to reduce the impact of e-waste on the environment.
Under the guidance of our Principal,Ms Padma Srinivasan,able initiative of Ms. Niva Chhonkar and the collaborative efforts of the Biology Department, the session was a valuable educational experience, promoting awareness and proactive measures regarding e-waste management.
In collaboration with the NGO CHINTAN, project ‘My City, My Green Action”, the Biology Department of DPS RK Puram organized a Textile workshop on 12th August 2024 for the students of Classes VI-VIII.
The workshop shed light on the amount of water that is utilized while manufacturing a single shirt. It provoked the students to rethink when they give in to the greed of purchase of new clothes.
To emphasize the value of repurpose and reuse, the NGO inspired the students to donate old clothes and shoes. Darning of their prized clothes was also taken up to reinforce the idea of avoiding purchase of new apparel.
Looking at the festival of Raksha Bandhan which is round the corner ,the students learnt to make ‘Rakhis of strips torn of old Tshirts, ribbons and the like.
Children made these rakhis very enthusiastically. Their creativity came to the fore as they decorated them with beads, sequins and other paraphernalia.
The workshop though lasting for a short duration, was engaging and helped foster a spirit of resourcefulness , teamwork and mutual respect.
The workshop developed a sense of community service amongst the students.
The workshop was an endeavour initiated by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan and efficiently enacted by the HOD Biology Department Ms Niva Chhonkar and members of the department.
“Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.” Driven by the words of Eleanor Roosevelt and upon pure reflective thoughts about the true essence of friendship, class XII-A and XII-B gathered to display the truest sense of friendship in an astonishing blend of elements sourced from the shared past and the current times, in an effort to highlight the positive roles a ‘good friend’ plays in one’s life through their class assembly “Birds of a Feather”.
An impactful morning prayer sung by Priyanshi, Aditya Sinha, Rihan, Gurmanya, Ishita, Dhritiman, Arham, Atulya, Ria, Ramneek, Medha, Samriddhi, Adya, Amey, Aditya Jha, Shubham, Jiah, Siddhi, Rakhee, Ria and Shivey commenced the assembly. The Vice Principal, Mr Naresh Miglani led the gathering through the morning prayer. Post a brief introduction to the topic by Kritika, the Vandana was performed by Kirtika, Shagun and Rakhee as a magnificent forerunner to the assembly. Thought of the day, delivered by Shaurya and Aleeza in Sanskrit and English followed, reiterating the immense role of a true friendship for the optimism of one’s life. To keep the audience aware of current happenings, news headlines were presented by Abhimukhi, Aryan, Aditya Mishra and Aleeza, spanning the sections of national, international, sports and weather.
Areeba, Kirtika, Shagun, Deepti, Zia and Shivey together presented a beautifully self composed poem in form of an enactment, delving into the traditional roots of the cultural past and presenting the perspectives hailed to this day as the ideals of a true friendship. The class choir, including Priyanshi, Areeba, Lucky, Vanshika, Gurmanya, Atulya, Gunika, Ramneek, Adya, Ria, Ishita, Arham, Rihan, Medha, Aditya Sinha, Dhritiman, Abhimukhi, Mihika, Mahi, Aditya Jha, Shubham, Aadya, Arshiya, Vaishnavi, Rakhee, Siddhi, and Priyansh presented a melodious and inspiring blend of symphonies, the instrumentals for which were provided by Samriddhi, Ayaan and Ria. To effectively highlight the encouraging and positive roles true friends unconditionally play in one’s life irrespective of set norms and societal expectations, Ashira, Ishita, Gurmanya, Arham, Rihan, Mihika and Anjoree presented a moving skit, efficiently conveying the message to the audience. The dance was performed by Dhriti, Aashna, Rihan, Medha, Ashira, Aarshia, Geet, Arshiya, Aadya, Anjoree, Mahi and Aditya Jha. The assembly was concluded with a beautiful rendition of harmonies by Priyanshi, Ria, Atulya and Mihika.
The skillful comperes for the assembly were Vanshika, Dhriti, Akshit, Kritika, Anvesha and Ria. The narrations were provided by Priyanshi and Medha. The eloquent script writers for the assembly were Arham, Ishita, Medha, Gurmanya, Priyanshi, Anjoree and Mihika. Soft Board, invitations and folders were skillfully crafted by Lucky, Vanshika, Medha, Gunika, Aashna, Aditya Sinha, Medha, Isabel, Siddhi, Mihika and Ria. E-invitations and digital presentations were creatively put together by Shaurya, Akshit, Basu, Zia and Anvesha.
