Assembly XI-S (10-10-2024)

TOPIC: “MENTAL HEALTH IS NOT A DESTINATION, BUT A PROCESS. IT’S ABOUT HOW YOU DRIVE, NOT WHERE YOU’RE GOING.” – NOAM SPANCER.”

On Thursday, the 10th of October 2024, celebrated as The World Mental Health Day, the students of class XI-S presented their class assembly on the topic “Mental Health Matters” where they encouraged the concept of being kind to one’s mind and to empower individuals to take charge of their mental health, showing that there is help, hope, and ways to cope with challenges.

The assembly commenced with a reverent prayer “Itni Shakti hame dena daata” performed by Maahira, Harshit, Peyuli, Eshita, Vanshika, Kritika, Krishiv, Shaurya, Misha, Supriya, Manas, Daksh, Abhijit, Aashni, and Shreya. The Prayer was facilitated by the tune of the Sitar which was played by Yasha. A graceful invocation dance was presented by Gayatri.

The latest news updates were reported to the audience by Harshit, Avishi, Anchana and Supriya. An insightful thought for the day was recited by Ayang. This was followed by two vivid and thoughtful self composed poems by Diya and Peyuli. A rhythmic western choir was presented by Shambhavi, Aahana, Chhavi, Aashni, Shreya, A.Devina, Anchana, Ayang, Muskan, Bhoomi, Diya and Avishi. The choir was accompanied by Suhani and Daksh (Guitar) and by Yasha (Keyboard). An eloquent discourse was presented by A. Devina and Bhoomi to encourage a sense of positive mental health among the audience

This was followed by a dynamic and energetic dance performance by Manas, Maahira, Eshita, Khushi, Supriya and Misha on the song “High Hopes”. The folders, invitation cards and boards were beautifully crafted by Muskan, Avishi, Vanshika, and Ananya. E – Invites for the class assembly were prepared by Nyra. The Digital presentation was put together and presented by Daksh and Suhani. The show melodiously came to an end with the playing of the School Anthem, followed by the National Anthem. The Class assembly of XI-S perfectly encapsulated the essence of Mental Health, as it left an everlasting impact in the hearts of all who were present.

Assembly IX-K & IX-L (09-10-2024)

TOPIC: “LIGHT ALWAYS CONQUERS DARKNESS”

In the journey of life, light always conquers darkness, a theme beautifully showcased by Classes IX-K and IX-L in their assembly. The program began with a heartfelt morning prayer led by Lamiya, Anaisha Khanna, Avika Agrawal, Sayansh Khurana, Riya Tayal, Bhavya Bankuray, Manya Gupta, Anahita Awasthi, Yudhveer Singh, Tanvi Singh, Shambhavi Bakshi, Elysia, Shrishti Tewathia, Aarav Verma, Aatreyi Singh, Aayu Tyagi, Arhan Gupta, Arundhati Pradhan, Atharv Vaish, Divij Jain, Yashraj Kumar, Ishita Sati, Shivaya Matta, Navya Taneja, and Showaiz Noor Ahmad. Aarav Pahwa, Tanvi Singh, Adya Gupta, and Samarth Dhami then shared an inspiring thought for the day.

The shloka was gracefully recited by Agnimitra Mujherjee, invoking a spiritual aura to the gathering. The news segment was presented by Shrishti Tewathia, Sparsh Vats, Hamza Rashid, and Yashraj Kumar, keeping the audience updated on current events. A delightful choir performance followed, with Shambhavi Bakshi, Riya Tayal, Lamiya, Tanvi Singh, Manya Gupta, Anahita Awasthi, Bhavya Bankuray, Aarav Verma, Aatreyi Singh, Arhan Gupta, Arundhati Pradhan, Arya Chatrath, Aryan Arora, Atharv Vaish, Aviral Goyal, Devyaangi Lal, Dhanaisha Dhawan, Ishita Sati, Mayansh Khurana, Niharika Singh, Reanna Batra, Sanvi Sharma, Shivaya Matta, and Vansh Nagpal captivating the audience with their melodious voices.

The Western instrumental performance by Kyraan Katyal, Ravi Kumar, Nikhil Mahla, Rayirth Jaiswal, Anaisha Khanna, Jaanya Jain, Siddharth Keshav Sikka, Vansh Nagpal, Aviral Goyal and Niharika Singh added a vibrant musical touch to the assembly. Kyraan Katyal, Sanshray Jain, Anaisha Khanna, Elysia, Avika Agrawal, Arjun Kanwar, and Siddhant Dubey mesmerized everyone with an enchanting Indian instrumental performance. Khushi Rastogi, Hunar Kaur Bawa and Adhiraj Jain recited a self-composed poem, adding a personal touch to the event.

The highlight of the assembly was a skit performed by Manya Gupta, Shasreek Kayal, Sanshray Jain, Ravi Kumar, Kyraan Katyal, Riya Tayal, Aanya Yadav, Aarsheya Shekhar, Naitik Yadav, Reanna Batra, Reyansh Jain, and Shivanjali Basra, emphasizing the triumph of light over darkness through kindness and compassion. A group dance by Avika Agrawal, Elysia, Hunar Kaur Bawa, Disha Bisht, Aayu Tyagi and Shivaya Matta further elevated the spirit of the program.

The event was seamlessly managed by comperes Jaanya Jain, Atharv Goyal, Aakriti Dewangan, and Siddhant Dubey, while Yashraj Kumar and Yuvaan Mangla handled the digital presentation and E-invite, ensuring a smooth flow of the assembly. The creative team behind the invites included Advita Narula, Shrisha Tripathy, Kavish Anand, Rasmika Nath, and Anahira Malhotra. Special credit goes to the board decoration team, which included Rachit Gambhir, Aarav Pahwa, Bhavya Bankuray, Aryan Sahni, Advita Narula, Sharanya Pandey, Shrisha Tripathy, Dhanaisha Dhawan, and Devyaangi Lal, for their beautiful and meaningful visuals that complemented the assembly’s theme. The props were made by Reanna Batra and Aatreyi Singh. Folders were made by Sanvi Sharma and Aatreyi Singh.

The assembly concluded with the powerful message that no matter how dark the world may seem, light always prevails.

GSP On CYBER SECURITY

On 9th October 2024, DPS R.K. Puram hosted a Guest Speaker Programme (GSP) on Cyber Security to celebrate Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas, which is observed on the first Wednesday of every month. Organized in collaboration with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the session aimed at raising awareness about cybercrime and promoting digital safety. Given the vulnerability of students to cybercrimes due to their access to advanced technology and lack of awareness, such initiatives play a crucial role in fostering a safer online environment.

The session featured two esteemed guest speakers:

  1. Ms. Nisha Pandey, a Professional Ecosystem Developer at I4C, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Ms. Pandey plays a key role in developing comprehensive strategies to neutralize cyber threats, working alongside various stakeholders to protect the digital environment.
  2. Dr. Khushboo Bussi, a PhD in Cryptographic Hash Functions: Design & Analysis from the University of Delhi (2020). Dr. Bussi is currently a Technical Project Leader in the Information Security, Education, and Awareness (ISEA) project, contributing to the advancement of cybersecurity education in India.

The programme was attended by all sections of Class XI. They provided an interactive platform for students to learn about the importance of cybersecurity, the types of threats they may encounter online, and the role of individuals and institutions in maintaining digital safety. The speakers shared invaluable insights on how to stay safe in the digital age and discussed real-life scenarios to highlight the growing need for awareness.

The felicitation of the esteemed guests was conducted by Mr. Naresh Miglani and Mr. Mukesh Kumar, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the speakers’ invaluable contributions.

The programme was organized by Ms. Sarika Kaushal, Incharge of the Cyber Security Club of the school, and Ms. Kanika Madan, the School Counselor. Their efforts ensured a smooth and informative session that left the students better equipped to handle the challenges of the digital world.

This interactive and enlightening session provided students with a deeper understanding of cyber threats and the necessary precautions they need to take to navigate the digital world safely.

Assembly XI-C & XI-D (08-10-2024)

TOPIC: “THERE IS NO HERO WITHOUT HER”

Women are often the unsung heroes, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make a difference. From being the upholding pillars behind a hero, to being one; one can certainly agree that there can be no heroism without her.

With reference to the theme “There is no hero without her”, classes XI-C and XI-D proudly presented an assembly, beginning with the morning prayer “Ye Mat Kaho Khuda Se”, sung by Kaavya Pal Verma, Ananya Sagar, Aanya Sharma, Shaurya Kumar, Akshay Ramakrishnan, Moksh Yadav, Bhumika Mehta, Hridaya Bhatiani, Nayantara Kiran Iyer and Khushi Chugh. Portraying serenity and sanctity, the dancers, Sara Lohani, Krita Mozumdar, Yashika, Anushka Sengupta and Anika Goel encapsulated the essence of Devi Stuti. Bringing everyone up to date with the news were reporters Aryan Munjal, Aumyash Singh, Aditya Saw, and Kenisha Singh.

Making one on one connections with the heart, reciting a poem were Aanya Sharma andAiza Nazir. Following a thought provoking discussion by Ami Arora, Nikhil Mehra, Arth Khanna, Aditya Saw, Taanya Narang, Sriyah Arora and Shraddha Abirami made a strong statement in favour of women being crucial aspects of life. With the festival season coming around, the dancers Anika Goel, Yashika, Sara Lohani, Krita Mozumdar, Fardeen Khan, Subham Panigrahi, H.Satyananda, Swapnil, Akshat Arnav, Andaleeb Singh, Kayaan Daimaa, Anushka Sengupta and Rajvir Ajmani lit the stage on an entrancing fire with their dandiya performances. An exceptional display of talent and women empowerment was put forward with engaging songs “Scars To Your Beautiful” and “Fireworks” sung by Ananya Sagar, Gauri, Lalsawmkima Langel, H.Satyananda, Swapnil, Fardeen, Shubham, Aditya Saw, Andaleeb Singh, Hridaya Bhatiani, Kanika Arora, Megavarshini U and Procheta Chaudhuri with Lalsawmkima Langel and Ami at the instruments. 

The series of acts occurred flawlessly with the entire presentation brought forth by anchors Abhigyan Jhunjhunwala, Gauri Sohal, Nikita Mahajan, Swastick Chanda, Rida Khan, Procheta Chaudhuri and Parkhi Singh; along with the digital presentation created by Nikhil Mehra and Reva Chopra. The E-Card was made by Swapnil Suraj and Reva Chopra. The entire event came together with artworks, invitation card and soft board created by Veipunai Yonah, Prisha Goel,Kashika Mehra and Puna Ummi. The folder was created by H. Satyananda, Swapnil Suraj, Akshat Arnav, Lalsawmkima Langel and Kashika Mehra. 

To bring the assembly to an end, encouraging and stimulating words were addressed by Mr Naresh Kumar Miglani & Mr Anil Kumar Kathuria. Honoring our fine institution, the school anthem was recited, followed by the National anthem.

Gandhi Jayanti Celebration 2024

The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, was held with great enthusiasm and respect  on October 2nd, 2024. The day was marked with a series of events that honored the principles of non-violence, truth, and simplicity, which Mahatma Gandhi advocated throughout his life

The Vice Principals Mr Anil Kathuria, Mr Mukesh Kumar,Teachers and students participated in the Cleanliness Drive.The Vice Principals interacted with the Housekeeping Staff and laid stress on the cleanliness inside and outside the school campus.Gandhi ji’s favorite bhajans “Vaishnav Jan” and ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ were presented. Later Cleanliness drive was started from the School Reception to outside the school

  1. Celebrating (CTU) Cleanliness Target Units involved recognizing the achievement of specific locations or communities that have met or surpassed cleanliness standards as part of a larger sanitation initiative. Area outside the gate  identified as CTU was decorated with Standy,Selfie Point, buntings and boards. A short session by Dr Deepak Ghuliani,Surgeon , Maulana Azad Hospital was organized where he laid stress on the importance of hygiene,deworming, hand-washing was highlighted. Dr Ghuliani also created awareness regarding washing vegetables & fruits, common water & food diseases.

Sanitation Kits were distributed to all the Safai Mitras & Guards Special felicitation was done of the Safai Mitras with Thermos Flask and Casseroles. Supervisors were also felicitated.Refreshments were distributed.

Teachers who contributed in making the ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ Campaign successful were awarded ‘best performers of SHS 2024’.Special certificates were given.

The programme was coordinated by Ms Niva Chhonkar, Hod-Biology & Ms Vandana Chandhoke, Hod- Political Science.

Outspoken ’24

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted its annual inter-school debating competition Outspoken on 28 and 29 September 2024. The event observed enthusiastic participation of students from 11 schools across Delhi NCR.

The students participated in two preliminary rounds – the Conventional Debate and the Turncoat Debate. Further, the top eight schools with the maximum cumulative points advanced to the elimination round. This round consisted of a parliamentary style debate, occurring in three parts – quarters, semis and finals. The debates were presided over by prestigious panels of judges from Pratarka, an educational organisation that trains students in academic and extra-academic curricula. The Conventional Debate was judged by Mr. Aayush Bermola, Mr. Ayush Verma and Ms. Jiya. The Turncoat Debate included Ms. Aliza, Ms. Gauri and Ms. Ananya as judges. Finally, the judges for the Asian Parliamentary Debate were Mr. Prachurjya Phukan (Co-founder, Pratarka Education), Mr. Aayush Bermola, Ms. Aliza, Mr. Abel Koshy, Mr. Ayush Verma, Ms. Jiya, Ms. Ananya, Ms. Gauri, Mr. M Navakanth, Mr. Nitin Singh Rana, Ms. Aneesha Ahuja, Mr. Anmol Sharma.

In the Conventional Debate, students were to present their views on a myriad of issues. They were given two days to prepare, having to prepare for both the stances, for as well as against the motion.

Meanwhile for the Turncoat Debate, the debaters were assigned their topics just three minutes before it began. They were given 2 minutes to speak, and had to switch their stance halfway through. 

The two schools that made it to the finals were The Heritage School, Rohini and Bluebells School International. The final deliberation that decided the winners was on the motion ‘This house regrets the social preference for positivity’. As the event came to a close, the judges were felicitated with Adjudication Certificates.

Applause resounded throughout the hall as winners were awarded their trophies, certificates and prizes.

The award for the Best Speaker in Conventional Format was taken by Sri Venkateshwar International School. The Best Speaker in the Turncoat category was won by Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, and the trophy was given to the First Runners Up, Vasant Valley School. Bluebells School International emerged as the overall winner as well as won the Best Speaker in Asian Parliamentary Format.

ComAstitva – 2024

“ Commerce changes the fate and genius of nations.” -Thomas Gray

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted its annual Inter-School Commerce Festival ComAstitva on 28th September 2024, under the guidance of its Commerce and Economics Department. This year’s edition of ComAstitva was a potent mix of competitions designed to provide experiences that challenge students and push them to go beyond their textbooks. As the students applied their learnings to compete in various online and on-site competitions, they got a chance to hone their communication skills, problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and critical thinking skills.

ComAstitva endeavours gave students a chance to dive into the working of commerce and industry, putting their classroom knowledge to practical use, and therefore gaining better insight and valuable takeaways from their participation. It brought together a series of creative competitions which were carefully curated to give the Commerce and Economics students of classes XI and XII an experience stimulating the workings of the world of business.

The online events included- 

Market Mosaic: Capturing the Pulse of the Economy

In this online photography competition, the participants highlighted local shops, markets and the people who run them, showcasing the diversity and importance of small enterprises to the economy through a self-clicked picture. The picture was accompanied by a description of two hundred words explaining the reason behind the importance of small businesses and their contribution to economic development. The participants were judged on the basis of artistic quality, technical excellence, relevance to theme and appropriate description. The judges for this event were Dr. Pushpinder Singh and Mr. Sarthak Grover.

Strategic Showdown: Diverse Minds, Unified Policies

The online policy making competition, the participating teams created a comprehensive economic policy to boost workforce diversity by capturing diverse work environments and integrating different cultures and genders within the workforce. The criteria for the judgement of the Policy Proposal Document were coherence of the problem statement, quality and feasibility of the proposed solutions, innovation and originality, messages conveyed and the overall presentation and impact of the video.  The event was judged by Dr. Vaishali Kohli and Ms Tripti Kheterpal.

Quadrant Quest: Mapping Success with the BCG Matrix

The BCG Matrix, also known as the Boston Consulting Group Matrix, is a strategic management tool used to analyse and categorise a company’s portfolio of business units or products based on their market growth rate and relative market share. Participants created a digital presentation on BCG Matrix of a company, which analysed its products based on market growth rate and market share. They then suggested future strategies the company should adopt for each quadrant.The judgement criteria for the event was understanding of BCG Matrix, accuracy of the data, logical placement of products, clarity and coherence of the presentation, creativity and originality.  The students were judged by Dr. Jyotika Bahl , Associate Professor Delhi University.

Fraud Guard: Poster Designing Competition

This event required the participants to create posters conveying key messages, tips, and strategies for safeguarding against various types of financial frauds, such as identity theft, phishing scams, credit card fraud, investment scams and cyber fraud. The posters were evaluated on the basis of creativity and originality,  visual Impact and design quality, clarity and effectiveness of messaging, relevance to the theme, overall presentation and aesthetic appeal.  The judge for this event was Ms. Neeti Banga , Associate Professor , NIFT

Rhyme and Reason: Mastering Management Through Limericks

A Limerick is a humorous verse of five lines, in which the first, second and fifth lines rhyme, and the third and fourth lines, which are shorter, form a rhymed couplet.  For this event, participants created limericks based on the topic Principles of Management. Judgement Criteria for this event was creativity,content, layout and relevance, and the event was judged by Professor Dr. Sunaina Sardana.

Business Brushstrokes: Unleash your Creative Spirit

In this event the participant chose from one of the thought-provoking topics and researched on its impact on businesses today. The participants depicted the chosen topic with the help of an interesting five-panel digital comic strip. The topics for this event were Blockchain in Business: Beyond Cryptocurrencies, AI and Machine Learning: Revolutionising Business Industries, Fintech Innovations: The Future of Financial Services, Big Data Analytics: Driving Business Decisions and Cloud Computing: Enabling Business Agility.  The participants were judged by Professor (Dr) Poonam Gupta based on their creativity and originality, adherence to theme and relevant use of dialogues.

Quizonomics: Think Smart, Score Big

This onsite quiz included a wide range of topics to test comprehensive understanding and analytical skills of students across subjects such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic Theories and Models, Applied Economics, Current Events and Global Economy. It featured a mix of multiple-choice questions, case studies, data interpretation, and crosswords to ensure a thorough evaluation of participants’ knowledge and critical thinking skills in economics. The quiz was conducted by quizmaster Mr. Ayan Sarkar .

Ledger Legends: Designing an Innovative Accounting Software

The preliminary round consisted  of written questions on general awareness, business awareness and accounting. The top ten teams who qualified the written round and made it to the finals were required to create an innovative accounting software and present its unique features through a digital presentation, while looking for possible shortcomings or loopholes. The participants were judged by Dr. Ritu Sapra ,Professor Delhi School for Economics , on the basis of their understanding of the shortcomings of available softwares,innovation, feasibility and authenticity.

Merger Masters: Combine and Conquer

In this competition the participants showcased their knowledge and application of the business world, as well as their innovative and strategic thinking. Mergers can lead to creation of new products or significant enhancements to existing products. A set of four companies were allotted to each team, which then merged and created an innovative new product combining existing products from the selected companies.The products were in line with sustainable development goals and corporate social responsibility. Each team prepared a short digital presentation illustrating how the merger of the selected companies led to the creation of the new product. The presentations were judged on the basis of their unique selling point, their target audience, marketing strategies, and analysis of the product’s costs and margins. They were judged by Prof. Monika Bansal and Dr. Pooja Sharma.

The Valedictory Ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honoured Chief Guest Ms. Molly Gambhir-  the imminent news correspondent and journalist, the Vice Principal Mr. Anil Kathuria and the Headmistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra. During his address the Vice Principal Mr Anil Kathuria congratulated the participants and reiterated the importance of a healthy competition in complementing the learning of a student by opening more avenues.He congratulated the contestants for their confidence  in being able to showcase their talent before an audience. He also spoke of success and failure in life and how they are important teaching grounds in life, and urged all students to continue striving for excellence. 

A captivating fusion song was performed by the school choir, which was followed by an invigorating dance performance which was an amalgamation of western and Indian classical dance forms, inviting spontaneous applause from those present. The Chief Guest, Ms.Molly Gambhir,an illustrious alumna and Senior News Anchor of the primetime show Gravitas, WION spoke about her own experiences at DPS R.K. The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Ms Molly Gambhir, the Vice Principal, Mr Anil Kathuria, and the Headmistress, Ms Rashmi Malhotra. DPS R.K. Puram and DPS Noida emerged as the overall winners. The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, proposed the vote of thanks. She thanked the Principal, Mr. Naresh Miglani for encouraging this mega event to take place, the Chief Guest for making the school proud as an extremely successful alumna, the Judges, the Vice Principals, and the teachers of Commerce and Economics departments working behind the scenes for making the event a tremendous success. The ceremony drew to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.

Biz visuals was an exhilarating Poster Making Competition held on 30 September2024 designed to unleash the creativity and understanding of commerce economics concepts through visual art.

The “Commerce Chronicles” provides a platform to the students to engage in an opinion-based discussion centered around real-life case studies from the world of commerce and business events in India.

CBSE ZONE & NATIONAL JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

Bhavishya Tokas of Class XI won Gold medal in the CBSE Central Zone Judo championship held at Delhi Heritage School, Rohini , New Delhi from 28 September to 01 October 2024. 

Bhavishya Tokas also qualified for the CBSE Nationals. 

In the CBSE Nationals again he won Gold medal was held at Saluja Gold International School, Giridih, Jharkhand. 

Reel-O-Vation (PRISMATIC) 2024

The members of the DIGEX Club, Aru Batra of X-B, Md Arman Firdousi of X-H, Omya Prakash of XI-K and Aayush Gaur of  XI-I participated and secured Second position in a competition Reel-O-Vation (PRISMATIC) organized by the Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar on the theme ‘Diversity’ where they chose to showcase the various stories of courageous women from diverse backgrounds in India. The purpose was to spread awareness about the Empowerment as the name suggests.
