On the occasion of National Mathematics Day, celebrated every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, hosted a talk titled Talking Maths Without TalkingMaths on the wonders of Mathematics on 22 December 2024. The event saw the participation of 21 schools from across Delhi NCR. Students from classes IX to XI attended this event.
The programme began with a prayer and the traditional lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society; Guests of Honour: Ms. Namita Pradhan, the Treasurer of the Delhi Public School Society, Mr. Nitin Chaturvedi, Master Dhruv Chaturvedi, Mr. Anant Mudgal, the keynote speaker; the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kathuria, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar; and the Headmistresses: Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and Dr. Anubha Gopal.
The cultural programme commenced with a mesmerising Odissi dance performance, Mangalacharan.The Chief Guest Shri B.K. Chaturvedi; the Guests of Honour- Ms. Namita Pradhan, Mr. Nitin Chaturvedi, Master. Dhruv Chaturvedi, the keynote speaker Mr. Anant Mudgal were then felicitated by the Principal Mr. Anil Kumar with a token of love and regard.The cultural segment continued with a captivating Kathak dance performance that showcased the beauty of Indian classical art forms.
The highlight of the day was the talk by Mr. Anant Mudgal, a distinguished mathematician who represented India at the International Mathematical Olympiad for four consecutive years, from 2015 to 2018, winning bronze and silver medals during his participation. He has also contributed to the mathematical community by proposing problems for subsequent IMOs. He captivated the audience with his insight into the life and brilliance of Srinivasa Ramanujan. He highlighted Ramanujan’s groundbreaking contributions to mathematics and discussed the subject’s profound significance in everyday life. The talk was followed by a lively question and answer session, where students eagerly engaged with Mr. Mudgal, gaining deeper perspectives on mathematics.
The event concluded with addresses by the dignitaries. Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Chairman DPS Society, in his address spoke about the legacy of Ramanujan and the role of education in shaping future mathematicians. Ms. Namita Pradhan shared her thoughts on the importance of fostering love for mathematics among young learners.
The Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, also addressed the audience, emphasising the importance of nurturing curiosity and a passion for learning in all fields, especially mathematics. He recounted his own joys and experiences of being associated with the subject as a student as well as a teacher. He reiterated the importance of promoting the love for Mathematics among students as Indian mathematicians are gaining recognition, yet again, throughout the world.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks proposed by the Vice Principal Mr. Anil Kathuria. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest Shri BK Chaturvedi, Chairman of the Delhi Public School Society, Guests of Honour: Ms. Namita Pradhan, the Treasurer of the DPS Society, Mr. Nitin Chaturvedi, Master Dhruv Chaturvedi, Mr. Anant Mudgal, the keynote speaker, for taking out time from their busy schedules to motivate the students. The celebration left a lasting mark on the audience, inspiring students to embrace mathematics with enthusiasm and curiosity.
The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, instilling a sense of pride and patriotism in all present.

Delhi Public School R. K. Puram hosted the annual Scholar Badge Ceremony for the students of Class X on 20 December 2024. This prestigious event celebrated the hard work, dedication, and achievements of the meritorious students who distinguished themselves in academics and co-curricular activities during the academic year 2023-24.
The ceremony commenced on an auspicious note with the lighting of the lamp by the esteemed Chief Guest, Shri. V.K .Shunglu; the Guests of Honour: Smt. Madhu Shunglu, Pandit Sajan Mishra, Smt. Dolly Chanana and Ms. Ambika Kaul; the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kathuria and Mr. Mukesh Kumar; and the Headmistresses: Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and Dr. Anubha Gopal.
The programme began with a melodious performance by the Indian Choir, where students showcased a harmonious symphony celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage with a rendition of Rajasthani classical folk song ‘मारु थारे देश में’.This was followed by a short and engaging presentation showcasing the achievements and contributions of Delhi Public School R. K. Puram in the year 2023-2024.
A mesmerizing Kathak dance performance,‘‘वासक सज्जा नायिका”, depicting the vibrancy of Indian culture, enthralled the audience with its energy and grace.This was followed by a soulful Indian solo song on raag ‘Gujri Todhi’ rendered by a talented vocalist, which left the audience spellbound with its depth and emotion.
The much-awaited Award Ceremony was conducted by Ms Pratibha Sacher and Ms Ritu Raj, the class representatives of class X.This ceremony saw students being recognised and blessed by the Chief Guest Shri.V.K. Shunglu, Smt. Madhu Shunglu ,Pandit Sajan Mishra and our Principal Mr. Anil Kumar . They were given 161 Second Blue Badges, 03 Second Green Badges, 81 First Green Badges, 52 Gold Medals,1 Red Blazer and Certificate, 9 Red Ties and certificates, 17 Pins and certificates for sports related achievements, 18 Pins and certificates for achievements in the co-curricular category, 05 Certificates of appreciation for sports and 6 Certificates of appreciation for Co-Curricular activities. A special award, which has been instituted by a staff member in memory of her mother, Smt. Swadesh Malik, who was a staunch supporter of education of the girl child, was awarded to a student. For the special award, Rs 5000 cash is awarded to a girl whose performance has shown greatest improvement in class IX.
The Chief Guest, Shri. V.K. Shunglu addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech. He emphasized on the importance of cultivating a positive attitude and clarity in life. He lauded the talents displayed through the performances and encouraged the students to imbibe the virtues of resilience and determination.
The Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, in his address, welcomed the Chief Guest and the proud parents of the award recipients, thanking them for gracing the occasion with their presence. He shared his joy in witnessing the students’ remarkable accomplishments and motivated them to continue striving for excellence.
The special highlight of the event was a recital by the Guest of Honour, the renowned Padma Bhushan recipient, Pandit Sajan Mishra, a legendary vocalist in the Khyal style of Indian classical music (Khyal Gayaki) of the Benaras Gharana, whose performance captivated everyone and added a divine aura to the ceremony.
The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing her gratitude to the Chief Guest Shri. V.K. Shunglu, the Guests of Honour: Smt. Madhu Shunglu, Pandit Sajan Mishra, Smt. Delhi Public School R.K. Puram hosted the Annual Language Festival on 21 December 2024, celebrating the rich linguistic and cultural diversity embraced by the school. The festival aimed to foster creativity, collaboration, and an appreciation for languages through a series of thoughtfully curated events. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Classes VI to XII, showcasing their linguistic flair and innovative ideas. It was an amalgamation of cultural expression and intellectual engagement, reflecting the school’s commitment to nurturing global citizens.
The festival commenced with an inspiring inaugural ceremony graced by the Chief Guest, Professor Niranjan Kumar, a distinguished academician with a vast experience in teaching and research. The event began with a traditional Odissi dance performance, invoking divine blessings. The Headmistress, Dr. Anubha Gopal, delivered an insightful address, where she talked of the importance of languages in the progress of a country and how it has to be inculcated right at the most formative years of a child’s life setting the tone for the event. The Vice Principals, Mr. Anil Kathuria and Mr. Mukesh Kumar, also shared their views, emphasizing the significance of multilingualism and cultural exchange.
Throughout the day, students performed skits, dances, and songs representing the cultures associated with the various languages. The Fusion Dance, combining classical and modern elements, was a highlight, mesmerizing the audience and showcasing the school’s vibrant talent.
The success of the Annual Language Festival 2024 was made possible through the unwavering dedication of the Language Departments, student volunteers, and the support of the school’s administration. Spanish Events:
The Spanish Department organized the following engaging events aimed at enhancing linguistic skills and creative expression:
I. Just A Minute: In the Just A Minute events, Classes IX and X spoke on “La importancia de la unidad en la diversidad en el mundo globalizado de hoy,” judged by Mr. Ajeet Yadav and Ms. Aakansha Jain.
II. Ad-Zap: The Ad-Zap events were a unique showcase of advertisements by the students of classes VI to VIII in their respective languages on the topics, ‘Items of Daily Use, Eco-Friendly Products and Futuristic Gadgets’. Advertisements on eco-friendly products and futuristic gadgets for Classes VI-VIII, were judged by Mr. Parvez Alam and Ms. Samriddhi Vashishth.
Hindi and Sanskrit Language Events
The Hindi and Sanskrit Departments presented events steeped in cultural and literary richness.
Hindi Events:
अभिव्यक्ति की उड़ान, Rap song: Sixteen schools from Delhi NCR participated in this competition. The competition was judged by Mrs. Fatma Kirmani( former HOD Hindi and active theatre artist) and Vanita Sharma (linguistics expert for 37 years).
‘हास्य- विज्ञापन’ competition was organised for students of classes IX & XI in which 16 school from Delhi NCR participated.The judgement of this competition was done by Dr. Rama Shankar Kushwaha and Dr. Deen Dayal. Dr. Rama Shankar Kushwaha is an Assistant professor in Dyal Singh College of Delhi University and Dr. Deen Dayal is a Professor in Janki Devi Memorial College. DPS Noida stood 1st position, DPS Sushant Lok stood at 2nd position and DPS Indirapuram stood at 3rd position
Sanskrit Events:
The Sanskrit Events included संस्कृत-गीतम् where the participants performed Hindi songs in Sanskrit language with instruments. The time limit was 2 minutes. The competitors showcased their skills and radiated confidence. The event was judged by Dr. Sushma Chaudhary, Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Kamla Nehru College, University of Delhi and Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Kamla Nehru College, University of Delhi. Content, memorization, pronunciation, timing and presentation were the criteria for judgement.
The second event was संस्कृत-संभाषण in which the students of classes IX and X showcased their skills by presenting captivating dialogues of the iconic characters from the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata .The time limit was 2-3 minutes. The event was graced by esteemed judges, Dr. Angiras (Assistant Professor of the Sanskrit Department at Motilal Nehru College ,Delhi University) and Dr. Asheesh Kumar (Assistant Professor of Sanskrit at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi .The Judgement criteria was content, memorization, pronunciation and presentation.This competition not only celebrated the beauty of Sanskrit but also instilled in students a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage. It highlighted the timeless values embedded within these ancient texts, such as courage, duty, righteousness, and devotion, also inspiring the young minds to embrace these virtues in their lives.
Valedictory Ceremony
The valedictory ceremony commenced with the prize distribution. The Chief Guest, Professor Niranjan Kumar, addressed the audience with inspiring words, emphasizing the role of languages in fostering global harmony. The Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, and Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria, felicitated the winners of the various competitions thereby uplifting the morale of the students with their esteemed presence.
The head of the Hindi and Sanskrit Department, Ms. Seema Mehta, proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks.She thanked the Principal Mr Anil Kumar for providing a platform to the language department to showcase their talent.She thanked the Vice Principals Mr Anil Kathuria and Mr Mukesh Kumar for their unwavering support. She thanked all departments associated with the Language fest for the support given for making this event a huge success.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a day filled with learning, creativity, and celebration of languages.
DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, R.K.PURAMLANGUAGE FESTIVAL 2024-25
Christmas is a time of great joy and celebration, marking the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior who brought hope and light into the world. It’s the season of bells and festivities, which embody a spirit of generosity, kindness, charity and compassion.
To celebrate Christmas with zest and vigour, Classes IX G and IX H came together for their Class Assembly. It began with an ardent prayer to the Divine Almighty by Ananyashree, Vishishta, Avneet, Bhavika, Dhanika, Abhinav, Sonanshi, Mayank, Roshan, Aryan, Aditya, Apoorv, Drishti, Shubham, Vaishnavi, Yantika, Dyumna, Anirban, Keshav Vij, Vaibhav and Angel. This was followed by the recitation of the Sanskrit Shlok and its meaning by Aarav Maheshwari and Avneet. The beautiful dance presentation invoking the blessings of Lord Shiva was then presented by Anika and Siddhi. The news bulletin was read by Atharva, Neil, Parth and Tanish. The thoughts for the day were expressed by Shubham, Vivaan, Saayansh and Bhavya. Thereafter, Ananyashree and Vanisha presented their self-composed poems expressing their feelings about the true meaning of Christmas.
This was followed by a beautiful presentation of Christmas carols by the class choir and orchestra. The choir comprised of Ananyashree, Vishishta, Avneet, Bhavika, Drishti, Kushal, Vaishnavi, Yantika and Angel. The symphonic orchestra was played by Laksh, Yathartha, Dhruv, Smyaan, Shaurya Chopra, Ayansh Gupta, Vanisha, Apoorv, Aaron, Devansh, Keshav Jindal, Aarav Garg and Anirban. The nativity scene about the birth of Lord Jesus was dramatised by Roshan, Sonanshi, Aditya, Abhinav and Shubham.
A skit depicting the the importance of kindness and charity was then presented by Smyaan, Shaurya Chopra, Dhruv, Agni, Ayushmaan, Divye, Atharva, Bhavika, Laksh, Armaan, Anvi, Vihaan, Kushal, Vaishnavi, Poorva and Bhavya. The script was written by Shashwat, Bhavya, Suhani and Urvee. The concluding act was a mesmerising group dance performed by Anika, Anvi, Gauri, Mritsha, Ayansh Negi, Siddhi, Barkha, Saanvii Saluja and Sairah which was choreographed by Anika.
The comperes for the programme were Suhani, Urvee, Keshav Jindal, Aaron, Shaurya Rajput and Aurel. The soft board, folders and invitation cards for the assembly were made by Vivaan, Neil, Anika, Aurel, Anvi, Gauri, Kenisha, Vanisha, Sonanshi, Dhanika, Abhinav, Mayank, Drishti, Agni, Swarit, Divye, Aryan, Barkha, Siddhi, Sanvi Sawhney, Bhavya, Suhani, Jatin, Urvee, Saanvii Saluja, Ayana and Kiaan. The cookies and brownies presented with the invitation cards were prepared by Keshav Jindal and Ayana. The props were prepared and managed by Vanisha, Kenisha, Atharva, Abhinav, Shaurya Rajput, Bhavik, Bhavika, Aryan and Poorva. The audio editing and e-card was prepared by Laksh and the digital presentation was made and presented by Vishal, Sumair and Jatin.
