Two days intersection online musical extravaganza of Classes XI and XII were organized by the Music and Dance Department of Delhi Public School, RK Puram on the 10th and the 11th of June, 2020. The online competition had six different categories namely Chunauti – Indian Dance, The Art of Music – Western Instruments, Challenge – Western Dance, Symphony – Indian Instruments, Raise Your Voice – Western Vocal, and Swar Tarang – Indian Vocal respectively. Talented students participated and showcased their talents in the various events. The Head of the Music and Dance Department, Ms. Renu Bassi on behalf of all the teachers extended her heartfelt gratitude to the Principal Padma Srinivasan Ma’am and Vice-Principal Renu Nayar Ma’am for their great leadership, their support, and for providing the students this platform to host such a competition and all the other teachers working behind the scene day in and day out putting their heart and soul in making this event a grand success.
The Events that took place on 10 June took place in the following order:
CHUNAUTI (Indian Dance) – This was a solo performance. The participants were judged based on Rhythm, Expression, Choreography, Originality, and Overall presentation. They were encouraged to perform their dance based on any Indian classical dance form.
THE ART OR MUSIC (Western Instruments) – This was a solo performance. There were five parameters to judge the event – Originality, Creativity, Rhythm, Technicality, and Overall Presentation. The participants were encouraged to play any one western musical instrument of their choice.
CHALLENGE (Western Dance) – This was a solo performance. The participants were judged based on Rhythm, Expression, Choreography, Originality, and Overall presentation. There was no specific theme or dance form to follow however; they were encouraged to give their best dance act of any western dance form.
SYMPHONY (Indian Instruments) – This was a solo performance. The participants were evaluated based on Presentation, Proper Tuning of Instrument, Synchronization of Raag/Taal, Clarity of Bol/Sur, and Choice of Composition. They were given the choice to play Classical, Semi-Classical, or a Self-Composition piece.
The events that took place on 11 June were-
RAISE YOUR VOICE (Western Vocal) – This was a solo performance. The competition was based on the Theme -” SINGING FOR A GOOD CAUSE.” The participants were evaluated under five criteria of judgment – Originality, Creativity, Difficulty Level, Relevance of Theme, and Overall Presentation.
SWAR TARANG (Indian Vocal) – This was a solo performance. Participants were encouraged to sing a bhajan or patriotic song which is self-composed or from a movie. The participants were judged based on Lyrics, Sur, Laya, Creativity, and Overall Presentation.
