The ‘ATL Space Challenge 2021’

With innovation being at the forefront of India’s development, The ‘ATL Space Challenge 2021’ was organized by NITI Aayog and Atal Innovation Mission in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to attract the top 75 innovations from all over the country. Team AURA from Aeross: The Aerospace Society consisting of members: Divyansh Nayan (XI-E) (Team Lead), Akul Ranjan (XI-J) and Raghav Chaudhary (XI-J) emerged as the winners in the Leverage Space category.

The main objective of the ATL Space Challenge was to give an opportunity to young school students to create something in the space sector that will enable learning and provide the competitors with a platform to share their ideas for future aerospace programs. The contest was divided into four themes – Explore Space, Inhabit Space, Leverage Space, and Reach Space.

Furthermore, Atal Innovation Motion (AIM) designed a special portal consisting of free courses and learning modules to help the participants gain considerable skills, the use of which was indispensable for success in the competition. The event saw over 6500 students from more than 2500 teams from all over India vying to attract maximum recognition for their ideas and vision.

Team AURA submitted their innovative idea of AURA (Autonomous Rescue Vehicle) – an Autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle capable of locating victims in a hydrometeorological calamity and delivering the necessary medical and nutritional resources to them. The concept of AURA minimizes the human input required in monitoring and supervising rescue missions and exponentially reduces the time of each operation, leading to greater efficiency as well as improved efficacy. The innovation brings with it the promise of saving hundreds of thousands of lives that are lost due to untimely rescue during floods, cyclones, cloud bursts, rainstorms, and the like.

The team is grateful to the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan, Mr Himanshu Bedi, Mr Ajay Goel, and Mr Sanchit Chauhan for guiding them to achieve this great feat.
