The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was held on 31 August 2021  via the online platform Zoom. Mr. V.K. Shunglu, the Chairman of the DPS Society, DPS R K Puram managing committee was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The Guest of Honour, Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyum, the Commerce Secretary of the Government of India also graced us with his presence.

It commenced with the inaugural lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan,  along with the Vice Principals and the Headmistress.The ceremony started with the effervescent beats of the school orchestra showcased by the western band. The Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour were felicitated by the Principal, the Vice Principal.

It was followed by a short movie showcasing the school’s achievements through the previous year. Following this was the Principal’s address. The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan  talked about upholding the school’s motto by respecting each other as well as remaining emotionally connected. She stressed on the importance of humility and teamwork by giving an analogy about the human body. She explained how each body part on its own has very little importance but together they come and make the complex machine that is the human body. Lastly, she applauded the students and commended the effort put in by them in achieving such endeavours.

India’s traditional culture and heritage was reflected through the spectacular  Bharatanatyam from Tamil Nadu.After these fascinating performances, the school announced its appointments, who were sworn in at the oath-taking ceremony, and the students promised to carry out their duties with utmost integrity and rectitude to promote the honour of the school and the country.


The Chairman, Shri VK Shunglu mentioned how togetherness is the key to bonding and how the lack of our country’s togetherness was exploited by colonial powers to subdue us. He emphasised on how essential it is to realize that the entire DPS society is one big family, which has many family members, none of any greater importance than previous and that everyone holds equal importance.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyum congratulated the appointees and motivated the students to be the change that they want to see in the world around them. He talked about his experience as a student in Delhi Public School R.K Puram, motivating and encouraging the students by explaining how one could be successful in different walks of life. He also spoke about the remarkable teachers and faculty at Delhi Public School R.K Puram, along with his unforgettable past experiences as a student in the school that shaped his career. 

This was followed by the inspirational speeches delivered by the student leaders, which emphasized the importance of work ethic and being assiduous to realize their true potential and help the school cross new frontiers. The Western Choir touched the hearts of all present with a soothing vocal performance. 

This was followed by the vote of thanks by the Vice Principal Dr Renu Nayyar. She thanked the Chief Guest, The Guest of honour , The Principal and the Parents for taking  time out from their busy schedules to encourage the students . She thanked the students and teachers who helped put up the show. She ended by expressing her faith in the school appointments and congratulated them for making the school proud by pledging their allegiance to the school and the country.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. 

INDEPENDENCE DAY ACTIVITY

Panchtatva, the Environment Club of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised an activity, ‘Colours of Nature’-A Photography Competition for the members of the Club in the month of August of 2021 to commemorate the 75th Independence Day

The students were asked to capture the colours of the Indian flag in nature and write an interesting caption on the photograph. The main objective of this activity was to encourage the students to show their creativity.The students shared  some amazing photographs and participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.The entries were judged based on Originality,  creativity in expression , presentation and overall impact. This competition provided a perfect platform for the students to hone their skills and to evolve their expression.

INDEPENDENCE DAY COMPETITIONS, GRADES VI- VIII

“Vande Mataram- I praise thee, Mother”

Delhi Public School R.K Puram organised intersection virtual Independence Day Competitions for Grades VI- VIII on 15 August 2021. The students’ enthusiastic participation was warmly welcomed and ensured patriotic fervour amongst students and teachers.  

The English Department organised ‘Words of Freedom’ on the occasion of Independence Day. Students brought the words of freedom fighters alive by choosing their favourite freedom fighters and their speeches. They modified them to incorporate important lines or form a short monologue addressal for the audience. They used props, costumes, colourful background, sound effects and other audio visual modes to bring the persona of the freedom fighter to life. They were assessed on the following parameters: creative expressions, pronunciation, delivery and presentation. The event was judged by Ms Deepika Malhotra, Ms Aditi Jain, Ms Abha Chona, Ms. Divya Bablani and Ms Sudeepta Chatterjee. The winners of the competitions are:

The Math Department conducted ‘Mathematical Independence Day Card Making’ through origami on the special day. Students made an Independence Day card on an A4 size sheet using origami and only tricolour was acceptable. They used symmetry,  geometrical patterns and mathematical shapes to decorate their creations. The judgement was based on creativity, originality and overall presentation. The Social Science Department organised ‘Kavya Vachan – Intersection Poetry Recitation’ for Grades VI-VIII on the day. Students recited patriotic poems in Hindi on the theme of patriotism.  They wore the colours of the National Flag. Keeping the theme of patriotism in mind, the Hindi Department conducted a variety of inter-section competitions for Classes VI-VIII on the occasion of Independence Day. For the students of Class VI, the event was titled ‘ये देश है वीर जवानों का’, which was a picture-based poem/song recitation competition. Each participant chose one picture out of the different pictures that they had been provided beforehand, on the basis of which they presented interesting poems/songs. The students wore colourful costumes and presented soulful renditions of a variety of patriotic songs and poems. The event was judged by Mr Manish Jain and Ms Aastha Kochar. 

A PPT presentation competition titled ‘आजादी के नायक/नायिका’ was conducted for the students of Class VII wherein the students presented mesmerizing Powerpoint presentations based on the different freedom fighters of our country. The participants wore colourful costumes and paid a grand tribute to the freedom fighters who gave up their lives for our country through their presentations. The judges for the event were Mr Shekhar Sharma and Ms Bhargavi Bisht and the judgement was based on the following criteria – content, technical skills, presentation and costume. 

The event for Class VIII was titled ‘ज़रा याद करो क़ुर्बानी’ which was a short speech competition. The competition provided an opportunity for the students to present their thoughts in the form of creative short speeches based on the different protest movements that had happened during the Indian freedom struggle. The event was judged by Ms Preeti Pratihari and Ms Sushma Sardana. The winners of all the three competitions are as follows:

The Science Department conducted a ‘Bookmark Making Activity’ for Classes VI-VIII based on the theme ‘Patriotism – Taking Indian Science ahead proudly’. Participants were given 30 minutes to make standard-size bookmarks using natural colours like turmeric, henna powder, dried flowers, powdered leaves, coffee powder, etc. The event was judged by Ms Suruchi Bharadwaj, Ms Kakoli Sengupta, Mr Subodh Kumar, Ms Ritu Kumar, Mr Parminder Chopra and Ms Jatinder Kaur. CLASS X VIRTUAL PTM 2021-22

A Virtual Open House for the parents of Class X was organized on 7th and 14th August,

2021. The interaction was conducted over the Google Meet platform. The parents interacted with the subject teachers on a one to one basis and touched base regarding the online classes. The PTM emphasized on having a meaningful interaction with the subject teachers. Parents were appreciative of the efforts made by school and all the teachers.They were given an opportunity to share suggestions and resolve their queries. It was a successful interaction. The program witnessed participation from 96% of parents.
