Topic-The More you Praise and Celebrate Life the More There is in Life to Celebrate

Oprah Winfrey once said “The more you praise and celebrate life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” A prominent example of this celebration of the Ladakh festival, revered among both Buddhists and Ladakhis as the commemoration of the three most important phases of Lord Buddha’s life- his birth, enlightenment, and demise.

The class presentation commenced with an introduction to the topic given by Ananya Kumar, followed by a melodious recital of the prayer ,”Teri Hai Zameen Tera Aasama” by Aitijhya Mondal. Tanisha Aggrawal then highlighted how our happiness is related to our perception of life with a thought. An motivational story about Sonam Wangchuk, the inspiration behind the movie 3 idiots, was shared by Alisha Sood, following which Aryan Gulati captivated the audience with his cover of the song Rise Up. A speech by Aonusha Saigal, Mukund Khandelwal and Vansh Gupta underlined the significance of the Ladakh Festival. This was followed by a bewitching song fusion of Rabindra Nath Tagore’s epic poem ‘Gitanjali’ curated by Amber Bhargava and Aitijhya Mondal. The presentation concluded with a vote of thanks by Satv Bhargava. The invite was hand painted by Ananya Kumar and the technical aspects of the presentation were handled by Sambhav Gupta and Manas Kalra.

Virtual Open House Class IX

A Virtual Open House for the parents of class IX was organized on 21 August 2020 from 5:30 pm onwards The interaction was conducted over the Google Meet platform. The class teachers and the parents touched base regarding the online classes. Parents were appreciative of the efforts made by school and all the teachers.They were given an opportunity to share suggestions and resolve their queries. It was a successful interaction.

SAMSKRITAMRITAM- Cultural and a Guest Speaker Programme

The Sanskrit department of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram,under the guidance of the Principal,Ms. Padma Srinivasan celebrated “Sanskrit Saptah” in an attempt to pay due respect to the divine language. “Sanskrit has a rich cultural and aesthetic history, being one of the most ancient languages; it must be practiced in day-to-day life to ensure that it does not fade away”.. The week commenced with the Sukti writing competition for class X which showed  the contemplative intellect of the students , displaying artistic portrayal of verses in an easy yet witty manner .On the second day , Sanskrit patriotic song competition for class IX was held wherein the students recited sanskrit songs in electrifying voices followed by various online competitions organised for classes VI to VIII.The week concluded on 21st of August,2020 with a guest speaker programme.The aim of the programme was to apprise the learners of the future of this ancient language,it’s beauty and relation to our culture and options of pursuing it in higher studies.

The Guest speaker for the programme was Sri. Jyotishmayi Vidyadhar , Assistant Professor at Amrita school of arts and science,Kochi and also the former state organising secretary of Delhi Samskrit Bharati.The programme commenced with the welcome speech by the head of the department Ms. Fatma Kirmani followed by the enchanting recitation of Saraswati vandana by Adya Srivastava (IX-J),dance on Shiv tandav stotram by Tashvi Gupta (IX-J) and the patriotic songs in sanskrit by the first position holders of the Sanskrit song competition – Chaitanya Jain (IX- I) and Vanya Sharma (IX- J).The programme was presented entirely in sanskrit language only.The guest speaker in his address emphasized on the importance of Sanskrit which is the real key to our past that helps unravel the myriad mysteries in our ancient texts and of our religious – cultural traditions.He also talked at length about its practicality , its need in present scenario and how studying this language is beneficial in our future.It seemed that sanskrit will very soon emerge out from the realm of recede to become a progressive bond connecting cultures to their roots.He also talked about its immense potential and scope worldwide,various world class top universities teaching sanskrit,use of sanskrit in Yoga, Ayurveda ,Speech therapy and having the same effect of Pranayam.He concluded his speech,by talking about the relation of sanskrit and business administration.Also, its enormous business volume in the year 2030. The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra graced the occasion with her presence.The sixty minutes long grand event with 70 participants culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Rupali Mahindru at the end of the programme.

Sanskrit week was thus successful in its aim to encourage linguistic creativity among students and benefit them with a systematic approach to study Sanskrit.

Topic- Teacher’s Day

‘A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite imagination and instil love for learning’.

The students of VIII H   based their presentation on ‘Teacher’s Day’ acknowledging the immense efforts put in by teachers for their development and growth. The presentation commenced with a soulful rendition of a Guru Vandana by Venika Ajith followed by a melodious prayer Achyutam  Keshavam’  sung by Venika Ajith. Dhanvin Reddy, Rozina Masood and Sehejpreet Kaur presented inspiring  and heart moving thoughts. Angad Singh threw light on the life of Dr. Sarwapalli Radha Krishnan while Raunaq Singh gave a short speech on the dedication of teachers who ‘are a compass that activate the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils’. A beautiful poem highlighting the contribution of teachers in students’ life was recited by Pranavi Parihar and Sitamsh Narasimhan. Towards the end, the vote of thanks was delivered by Ayaan Jamal. The e-invite was designed by Sehej Preet  and the creative work of Anshul Sareen was seen through his compiling of all the audios and presenting them in a colourful slide show.

Topic- Teachers’ Day

Our education providers are very special to us. Teacher’s Day is a special day that is celebrated every year when students express their gratitude and utmost respect towards a teacher. Being a teacher is one of the most challenging jobs and . Students forever remember their teachers because of their immense contribution they make to their life.

The presentation began with a soulful prayer ‘Guru Brahma’ by Tejasveer Singh and Sanjam Singh. The presentation was introduced by Aparna Kanodia with her full enthusiasm. It was followed by the thought for the day by Divyansh Nayan. A beautiful self composed poem was recited by Praayashi Kakran. Devansh Thakur helped in the compilation of all the audios and the slides as well. The assembly was concluded by Muskan Jain and Prachi Jindal with their mesmerising words.

The concept of the presentation was just an effort to show respect towards all the teachers.

Topic- HISTORY IS THEIRS WHOSE LANGUAGE IS THE SUN; Teachers – Our Guiding Sunshine

Napoleon Bonaparte aptly said. “If I had to choose a religion, the sun as the universal giver of life would be my God.” The Morning Presentation of Class XII N was based on the theme taken from one of the poems written by Stephen Spender. An apt tribute to the teachers, announcing the onset of Teacher’s Day on 5th of September, 2020.

The presentation commenced with a warm welcome by Vrinda Garg. The morning prayer -“Ai  Malik tere bande hum.. ” was sung by Shreya Barnwal, followed by the thoughts for the day by Riddhi Yadav and Yash Thakur. Akshay Goel presented a soulful poem in Hindi emphasizing on the sunshine spread by the presence of  teachers in the lives of students while Apoorva Dewan spoke on the role of a teacher. Yajat Mukhija recited an English poem entitled ‘I do Remember’.  Karan S Biswakarma and Preeyansh Arora Majoka enthralled the audience with a beautiful rendition, ‘Hallelujah’. The vote of thanks was delivered by Vrinda. Sunidee Jaiswal and Stuti Rastogi prepared the e-invites and the google slides Yajat Mukhija  was responsible for the audio editing and compilation.

Topic- GANESH VISARJAN -EVERY ENDING HAS A NEW BEGINNING

As it is rightly  said, ‘EVERY ENDING HAS A NEW BEGINNING’. Similarly, on the last day of the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, the tradition of Ganesh Visarjan, also popularly known as Anant Chaturdashi takes place. It is celebrated with great eloquence and grandeur.

The class presentation was based on the theme of “GANESH VISARJAN”. The presentation commenced with Shreyansh Jha and Dhun Paliwal acquainting the audience with the topic which included an apt thought shared by Rajita Gupta. The mood of the festival was set in as Radhika Goyal and Tanisha enthralled the audience with a devotional song followed by the recitation of a shloka by Nikita Mann and explained by Laboni Thakur. A poem composed by Dia Dutt and recited collectively by herself, Quilin Talukdar, Apoorva Sehgal, Zoya, Arjun Gogia, Prerna Aggarwal, R Harini, Vanya Sharma, Aadrita Goswamy, Ganika Arora and Anoushka Jain emphasised the true spirit of this beautiful festival. Argha Gupta and Prachi Mishra enlightened the audience with the underlying values while also urging everyone to follow eco-friendly ways of Visarjan. The presentation concluded with the vote of thanks. Tejaswi Sharma hand-painted the e-invite. Quilin Talukdar, Aashita Vijan and Arjun Gogia lent their helping hands with literary and technical coordination.
