Workshop For Teachers : ‘ Safety and Security First’

A Workshop on Security and Safety first was organized for the teachers of Classes 9 to 12 on 26 and for Classes 6 to 8 on 27 February 2019 in the AVH and Seminar Room respectively. The workshop which was conducted in two sessions on both the days was also attended by the administrative staff of the school.

Session 1:

Ms. Vibha Datta Makhija, Senior Advocate ,Supreme Court of India, spoke on Child Rights, Sexual harassment and Cyber security. The session began with the felicitation of the Guest by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. The ideology behind the workshop was guidance to safety and security and an insight to child’s psyche. Ms. Makhija spoke about various parameters of Do’s and Don’ts, advising the teachers to recognize boundaries and to be sensitized towards child’s needs. She emphasized the importance of introspection and anger management and the need to respect personal space. The session ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar ( 26 February Session) and the Headmistress, Ms.  Rashmi Malhotra ( 27 February session).

 Session 2:

The second session on Child Protection Policy and Role of Caregivers was held by Ms. Bindya Sarkar, Chairperson, Agape Blessed Foundation and Ms. Lavanya, a Social Worker. Ms. Sarkar spoke on the primary responsibility of teachers to safeguard themselves. She enlightened the teachers on the types of crimes associated with children and how to deal with them and emphasized  on role of educationists in protecting those who bestow trust in them. Ms. Lavanya spoke about the importance of being open to learning and building a good and healthy relationship of with children where children can express their views, concerns and anguish. The session was interactive and informative and proved to be beneficial  as the teachers could clarify their doubts related to their safety and security. The session concluded  with a Vote of Thanks by the Vice Principal, Ms Anita Singh ( 26 February session) and the Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra ( 27 February session).
