The Chief Guest, Mr. V.K Shunglu was then felicitated by the Principal and Vice Principals.

Opening with the lines, “One smile can start a friendship. One word can end a fight. One look can change a relationship. One person can change your life”, the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, extended a warm welcome to all present. Nostalgia ran high as she emphasized the importance of the Scholar Badge for the departing class. She reinforced the fact that students should be comfortable not knowing everything about their future and narrated the course of her professional journey which culminated in her becoming a teacher. She told the students that the world gives them the answer to their problems; they simply have to listen. She quoted George Bernard Shaw’s famous statement, “You don’t find yourself, you create yourself.” following which she narrated an inspiring example of how the school opens up new avenues for its students, and reminded them that they could do anything and be whoever they wish to be. Furthermore, quoting Martin Luther King Jr., “In the end, we will not remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”, she told the students to be gentle with the young, kind to the aged, sympathetic to the striving and tolerant towards the weak and the wrong.

The Western Choir performed the song, ‘If I Had a Hammer’ with great zeal. Emphasising the values of selflessness, empathy and perfection, the stream toppers of Class 11 of the session 2018-19 put up impactful speeches expressing the theme of the event. Adroit dancers and poets swept the audience of their feet as they put up a Kathak – Poetry amalgamation, bringing about the end of the cultural programme.

In his address, Mr. V.K. Shunglu, the Chief Guest elaborated on the significance of having no preconceived notions about our goals. He spoke of the importance of maintaining a healthy outlook as not knowing what to do in the future can open one to wider avenues. He advised the students to not lose themselves in this process, as time would reveal all solutions to their problems. He concluded his speech by commending the newly independent generation of today.

Following this, the students were awarded for their excellence in the fields of academics, sports, and co-curricular activities.
