Delhi Public School, RK Puram hosted the Class VII Scholar Badge Ceremony for the academic session 2024–25 on 4th December 2025 in the Audio-Visual Hall, celebrating the academic and co-curricular achievements of students.
The esteemed Chief Guest for the event was Dr Jitendra Nagpal, a renowned psychiatrist with over twenty years of experience across leading hospitals in India.
The event began with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Dr Jitendra Nagpal; the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr Anil Kathuria, Mr Mukesh Kumar, Mr Naresh Miglani and Ms Rashmi Malhotra and the Headmistress, Dr Anubha Gopal.
Inspired by the theme of ‘Music is the universal language of mankind’, the programme commenced with a harmonious performance by the Indian Orchestra, filling the auditorium with a rich, vibrant energy that welcomed the audience into the spirit of celebration. Thereafter, a soulful and rhythmic rendition of the song ‘Hawao ka samjho ishara’ was presented by the young students of Class VII, spreading awareness about global issues like excessive pollution. This was followed by an exquisite dance performance as a tribute to Mother Earth which enthralled the audience.
In his address, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, welcomed the honoured Chief Guest, Dr Jitendra Nagpal as well as the proud parents of the students receiving the awards and thanked them for gracing the occasion. He lauded the achievements of the Chief Guest, a pioneer of mental health in the country and spoke about the three H’s – the Head, the Heart and the Hand, which emphasise the importance of holistic wholesome development, highlighting both physical and mental well-being. He also quoted Dr Harivanshrai Bachchan – ‘If it is according to your wish, then it is good, if not, then it is even better’ as it is the wish of the almighty and it helps us to realise our potential.
Thereafter, the much-awaited Scholar Badge Ceremony was conducted by the Class VII representatives: Ms Mahima Goel and Ms Bhumika Singh. This year, a remarkable number of students received recognition for their unwavering dedication – an affirmation of the countless hours of learning, participation and growth which is reflected through their outstanding achievements in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. A total number of 226 awards were presented, including 146 Second Green Badges for continued academic excellence for two consecutive years, 77 First Green Badges, 7 Gold Medals for 100% attendance, one Red Blazer, 7 Pins and 14 Certificates for sports and co-curricular achievements.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Dr Jitendra Nagpal addressed the audience and emphasised that children are the nation’s future leaders and that DPS functions not just as a school but as a family. Highlighting the idea of ‘vikas’, he affirmed that today’s youth will drive national transformation through schools — the true temples of learning. Referring to the Principal’s address, he reinforced the importance of the three H’s — Head, Heart and Hand—in ensuring holistic development.
He resonated with the audience by acknowledging how children’s voices often go unheard, urging everyone to listen more closely and appreciating platforms like the Youth Parliament that amplify those voices. He noted that while the National Curriculum Framework 2005 did not adequately address holistic growth, the National Education Policy 2020 places student well-being—mental, physical and social—at its core. Concluding his address, he reflected on family dynamics, the impact of social media and the enduring values that define Indian families.
The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Headmistress, Dr Anubha Gopal, who expressed her gratitude towards the esteemed Chief Guest for taking out time to grace the occasion. She thanked the Principal for his nurturing initiatives for the students and lauded the parents as the strongest pillars of support for their children. She also expressed her gratitude towards the Vice Principals for their guidance and support and acknowledged the efforts of the teachers and the students in successfully organising the ceremony.
The event concluded with the patriotic rendition of the National Anthem, as the students, teachers and parents reflected on a morning that celebrated the students’ achievements and the hard work behind them.
