The Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class X Sections A-G was held on 27 October 2017 at Delhi Public School R.K.Puram. The ceremony is a highly prestigious event for the school as students excelling in, both, academics and co-curricular activities are honoured on stage.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Suman Sharma, the Principal of Lady Shri Ram College and an elected member of the Academic Council Delhi University, the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and the Vice Principal, Ms. Anita Singh, graced the occasion with their presence.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The school orchestra enthralled the audience with a melodious symphony which was followed by the felicitation of the chief guest. A short film highlighting the school’s various achievements in academics, sports and extracurricular activities was shown which elicited a loud round of applause. The welcome address was given by the Principal Ms. Vanita Sehgal, who congratulated the students on their achievements and introduced the theme for the ceremony, ‘Imperfectly Perfect’. She captivated the audience with an anecdote emphasizing the importance of loving and believing in others which leads to belief in one self to achieve success in life. She concluded by saying, “The road ahead is tough, but who said you can’t enjoy the journey.”
The cultural programme began with a play which emphasized the importance of cherishing one’s imperfections. It accentuated how one can turn one’s imperfections into one’s strengths by showcasing various examples of renowned personalities. It included a plethora of performances such as dances, speeches and a song by the school choir.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Suman Sharma, addressed the gathering and commended the achievements of the students. She praised D.P.S. R.K.Puram for providing children with a holistic experience and for its diversity. She gave the students mantras for achieving success and ended with a quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
The Award Distribution commenced with the Class Representative, Ms. Shaloo Khanna, introducing the commendable students. The Chief Guest, the Principal and the Vice Principal congratulated and felicitated the students with the awards. The Srimati Swadesh Malik Memorial Award was bestowed upon the girl student who showed the highest improvement in education in Class IX.
The Vice Principal, Ms. Anita Singh, delivered the vote of thanks and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
