Scholar Badge 2018 Class XII Sections D, F-I, L-N, U-X

The Annual Scholar Badge Ceremony was hosted by Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram for Class XII (Sections D, F-I, L-N, U-X) on 7 August 2018 for the academic year 2018-19, where students are recognised for academic and co-curricular excellence.

The Chief Guest for this ceremony was Mr. Anurag Tripathi,  Secretary of CBSE and Chief Administrative Officer of the Board. He has worked for bringing reforms in examinations and has contributed for the use of technology for the same. He was felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal.

The ceremony was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp. As excitement filled the auditorium, the students welcomed the audience with a melodious rendition of the song ‘Swagatham’. The school orchestra then entranced the gathering with a well synchronized and rhythmic fusion performance. Thereafter, a short film celebrating the achievements of the school and recounting the events hosted, was screened.

The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, addressed the gathering with an anecdote on lost opportunities and time management. She said that while weak people look for opportunities, strong people make them. She emphasised that it is not only important to make the right decision, but also to make it at the right time. She quoted Steve Jobs, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.” She also quoted Victor Hugo, “Concision in style, precision in thought, decision in life.” She also mentioned that these awards come with a responsibility for the students to extend a helping hand towards those who need it. She concluded her speech with a quote by Paul Brandt, “Don’t tell me  sky’s the limit; there are footprints on the moon!”

The Principal’s speech was followed by a Cultural Programme. The central theme of the performances was, ‘Overcoming Adversity.’ It  was brought under spotlight by impactful speeches by the students, which was followed by a scintillating classical dance showcase on the song ‘Yeh Mat Kaho Khuda Se.’ A brilliantly performed mime had a positive impact on the audience after which the Western Choir enchanted the audience with a culmination of symphonies.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Anurag Tripathi, started his address by orating, in Hindi, a sentimental letter which Abraham Lincoln wrote to his son’s teacher. His speech elaborated on the importance of perseverance and the spirit of not giving up. He elucidated the true meaning of ‘Service before Self.’ He asked the parents to spend maximum time with their children so as to impart correct values to them.

The Award Distribution commenced with Dr. Anubha Gopal introducing the meritorious students. On this prestigious occasion, students received awards for their excellence in the fields of academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. Special awards like the Ishwar Chandra Award and the 100% Attendance Award were also given to the students.

The CBSE Board Examination stream toppers were awarded with gold medals for their outstanding accomplishments.

A special mention was given to the team of students who won the International Space Settlement Design Competition 2018 at Kennedy Space Center, NASA.

The Vice Principal, Ms .Padma Srinivasan, delivered the vote of thanks.  The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
