Delhi Public School RK Puram joyfully celebrated the 77th Republic Day on 26 January 2026, honouring the spirit of the Indian Constitution and embracing this year’s special theme – ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’.
The event commenced with the arrival of the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Mukesh Kumar, Mr Anil Kathuria and Ms Rashmi Malhotra; the Headmistress, Dr Anubha Gopal and the Academic Head IBDP, Mr Ajay Goel; along with the school faculty. The Principal and the Vice-Principals, accompanied by a contingent of teachers, ceremonially unfurled the Indian National Flag, which was followed by the National Anthem, thereby inspiring profound pride and steadfast unity.
The programme showcased India’s rich legacy and heritage through the remarkable performances of the young participants, inspiring patriotism and pride. It showcased the school choir’s rendition of patriotic songs, a soul-stirring musical tribute to the nation, followed by a captivating dance performance celebrating unity in cultural diversity.
The Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, inspired the students with a heartfelt speech about the strength and unity of India, giving the example of Indian women who were granted voting rights in the year 1947, much earlier than many European countries, thereby reflecting the country’s strong democratic values. He compared the high cost of Hollywood films with India’s achievements in space science. While a Hollywood movie like ‘Gravity’ was made with a budget of around ₹450 crores, India successfully launched the Mangalyaan mission at a budget of about ₹550 crores, showcasing the nation’s innovation and efficiency. Concluding the address, the Principal encouraged the students to work together, innovate and contribute to the nation, reminding them that they are the future leaders of India. The event ended with a Vote of Thanks, marking a meaningful celebration of India’s unity, heritage and progress that made everyone feel proud and motivated.
